치위생과 학생의 취업가치관과 취업선호도에 관한 연구 (A study on the job values and job preference of dental hygiene students)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the state of career and employment among dental hygiene students in an attempt to get an accurate grip on their preparation for career and employment. And it's also meant to help improve the efficiency of guidance by dental hygiene education institutions for career and employment. The subjects in this study were every dental hygiene student at three different colleges. After a self-administered survey was conducted, the following findings were given: 1. In regard to the future prospects of dental hygienist, 44.2 percent of the students investigated believed that there would be a bright future for dental hygienist, and 55.8 percent didn't agree to that or considered the prospects to be neither bright nor bleak. 2. As to the motivation of choosing the department of dental hygiene, 51.2 percent thought that it was easy for dental hygienists to get a job, and 22.2 percent wanted to be a professional. 3. Concerning preference for workplace, they hoped to work in a hospital-sized or larger institutions including dental hospitals. As to the reason why they wanted a job, 76.2 percent had their sight set on standing on their own feet. 4. As for the top priority for employment, they took interpersonal relationship into account the most(3.63), followed by aptitude(3.52) and working conditions/environments(3.51). 5. In terms of job values by academic year, all the freshmen, sophomores and juniors attached the most importance to interpersonal relationship. By academic standing in the previous semester, the students who got an A, B or C put more value on human relations, and those who got a D gave more weight to social status and fame. The gap between them was statistically significant. As for the impact of the high schools they graduated from, they took the most statistically significant consideration on interpersonal relationship irrespective of their alma mater.

치과위생사의 감염관리 실천이 노출 예방에 미치는 영향 (Effect of infection control practice on exposure prevention of dental hygienist)

  • Objectives : In the field of dental hygiene, infections pose a serious problem. This issue has left many patients and dental staff exposed to microbes with potentially far-reaching effects. The purpose of this study was to find solutions which could improve Dental health policies and promote improved methods for the control of infections. This survey was conducted between March 3, 2008 and March 30, 2008, in the metropolitan area. The research was carried out in dental clinics and dental hygienists were surveyed through a questionnaire. Methods : Collected data was examined using the SPSS 14.0 program, using frequency, mean and standard deviation analysis, T-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe's test and Duncan's test. Further analysis was given using Logistic Regression. Results : The Performance of Infection Control by dental hygienists in Dental Clinics was shown at $2.96{\pm}0.42$. Disinfection, sterilization and the wearing of masks is high at $3.65{\pm}0.64$, $3.64{\pm}0.65$. The perception of the importance of infection control is higher among dental hygienists than dentists. Of the dental hygienists surveyed, 83.9% were exposed to at least one accident while at work. Age and years of experience were important in relation to infection control practices. The rate of infections and the number of accidents experienced related to the dental hygienists performance of infection control. The performance of infection control is influenced by the dental hygienists own perceptions, and the perceptions of their dentists. The dental hygienist's working conditions and their beliefs related to infection control were shown to influence their performance of infection control practices. Conclusion : At the conclusion of this investigation, it was determined that systematic refresher training of infection control should be delivered through further education and various media. Dental health care workers should be encouraged to practice these action items presented in the training. For successful implementation of infection control in every dental health-care setting, it is highly demanded that effective safe-guard tools, strategic support and standardized action items against infection problems are developed.

치과위생사의 직무만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인 (A Study on Factors Affecting Job Satisfaction of Dental Hygienist)

  • 본 연구는 치과위생사의 직무만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인하기 위하여 시행된 조사연구이다. 부산 경남 지역의 치과의료기관에 근무하는 224명의 치과위생사를 대상으로 조사하였다. 수집된 자료를 SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Science) Ver.19.0으로 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 연구대상자의 의사소통능력은 $3.32{\pm}0.49$점, 대인관계능력은 $3.45{\pm}0.48$점, 직무만족도는 $3.19{\pm}0.44$점으로 나타났다. 일반적 특성에 따른 의사소통능력은 기혼이 미혼보다 높았고, 임상경력이 많을수록 높았다. 일반적 특성에 따른 대인관계능력은 학력이 높을수록, 임금이 많을수록, 경영 및 직원관리 담당자가 높게 나타났다. 일반적 특성에 따른 직무만족도는 경영 및 직원관리 담당자가 높게 나타났다. 연구대상자의 직무만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인 파악하기 위해 다중회귀 분석한 결과 임상경력이 낮을수록, 의사소통능력과 대인관계능력이 높을수록 직무만족도가 높게 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 바탕으로 치과위생사의 직무만족도를 높이기 위해 적절한 보상체계가 이루어져야 하며, 의사소통능력과 대인관계능력을 향상시켜야 할 것이다.

치과위생사의 이미지 결정요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Determinant Factors the Image of Dental hygienists)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine what factors determined the image of dental hygienists. The subjects in this study were 396 patients and caregivers who visited 14 dental institutes in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. After a survey was conducted, the following findings were given: 1. As for what factors had a decisive impact on the image of dental hygienists, friendliness(4.53) ranked first. 2. The image of dental hygienists was decided by five different kinds of factors, which included institutional, subjective, work-related, formal and media factors. Those factors made a 57.827% prediction of the image of dental hygienists. 3. The relationship of their general characteristics to the decisive factors of dental hygienist image was as follows: 1) By age(pE0.01), marital status(pE0.01), education(pE0.01), occupation(pE0.001), were under the significantly different influence of the formal factor(pE0.01). 2) As to the type of dental institutes they visited, the subjective factor exercised a significantly different influence on the groups(pE0.01). 3) Regarding the frequency of visiting dental institutes, the institutional and work-related factors had a significantly different impact on the groups(pE0.05). 4) Concerning the experience of the caregivers, the work-related factor exercised a significantly different influence on the groups(pE0.05). 5) As to connections between their general characteristics and the decisive factors of dental hygienist image in different areas, the subjective factor mostly had the strongest impact, and the formal factor was least influential.

치과위생사 국가 실기시험 개선 연구 (A study on the improvement of the national dental hygienist practical examination)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the problems with the current practical examination, to suggest some of the right directions for that and to facilitate the improvement of the exam. Methods : The subjects in this study were the selected professors involving professors in charge of practice and the selected clinical dental hygienists who had ever served as the graders of the national practical exam. Results : A direct practical test was required in the national practical exam (77.3%), and educational facilities(79.2%)(p<0.05). They didn't put confidence in the national practical exam(81.0%) nor viewed the items about the removal and detection of dental calculus as appropriate(58.5%), either. Specifically, the items were considered to be more inappropriate by the professors in charge of practice(74.3%) than by the other professors and clinical dental hygienists(p<0.05). Concerning ways of administering the national exam, the largest group preferred that a professional evaluator should evaluate students in person by visiting their colleges(66.8%). Conclusions : The above-mentioned findings illustrated that both of the dental hygiene professors and the clinical dental hygienists thought the current national dental hygienist practical exam would absolutely be necessary since it exerted a great influence on education and educational facilities, and that the national exam should be improved to gain more confidence, to solve comprehensive problems and to ensure the efficiency of administration.

Determining the Relationship among Organizational Commitment, Occupational Stress, and Interpersonal Relations according to Adult Attachment Styles of Clinical Dental Hygienists

  • Background: This study aimed to identify the types of adult attachment and determine the relationship between adult attachment and job factors in dental hygienists. Ultimately, it was necessary to identify the need for a secure attachment to improve the quality of clinical dental hygienist's services. Methods: Data of 454 clinical dental hygienists working in dental hospitals or clinics were collected. The research tools consisted of items related to the general and work characteristics of dental hygienists (9 items), adult attachment styles (36 items), organizational commitments (12 items), occupational stress (15 items), and interpersonal relations (18 items). Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ of each tool was ${\geq}0.7$. Results: Most of the participants had fearful attachment styles, followed by dismissing-avoidance, security, and preoccupation. Security was the highest level of organizational commitment according to the adult attachment style, although the differences of the levels were insignificant. For occupational stress, preoccupation was the highest, followed by fearful, security, and dismissing-avoidance, and the differences were significant (p<0.001). For interpersonal relations, security was the highest, followed by preoccupation, dismissing-avoidance, and fearful in order, and the differences were significant (p<0.001). Conclusion: Job stress and interpersonal relation ability according to the adult attachment style of clinical dental hygienists had significant results. Thus, the development of attachment improvement programs by personal style, development of differentiated clinical education and its application, and improvements in the adult attachment styles of clinical dental hygienists would be required rather than simply presenting the needs to collectively improvement the working environment.

치과위생사의 업무 협력과 보상 만족도가 직무착근도에 미치는 영향: 긍정심리자본의 매개효과 (The effect of dental hygienist work cooperation and compensation satisfaction on job embeddedness: mediating effect of positive psychological capital)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of dental hygienists' cooperation and compensation satisfaction on job embeddedness through positive psychological capital, and to provide basic data on ways to improve the welfare of dental hygienists and the quality of medical services. Methods: From July 1 to 20, 2023, a questionnaire survey was administered to 206 dental hygienists via an online link. SPSS Statistics ver. 22.0 was used to conduct the frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, multiple regression analysis and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: Factors influencing dental hygienists' job embeddedness were type of compensation satisfaction (β=0.362, p<0.001), intangible compensation satisfaction (β=0.190, p<0.001), cooperation between dental hygienists (β=0.178, p<0.05), and age (β=0.112, p<0.05). Positive psychological capital was found to have a complete mediating effect on work cooperation in the effect of dental hygienists' job embeddedness (p>0.05), and partial mediating effect on compensation satisfaction (p<0.01). As a result of the Sobel test, it was confirmed that it was statistically significant as dental hygienist work cooperation (Z=2.339, p=0.019), dentist work cooperation (Z=1.985, p=0.047), intangible compensation satisfaction (Z=2.286, p=0.022), and type compensation satisfaction (Z=1.980, p=0.048). Conclusions: In order to improve the work environment of dental hygienists, develop programs to improve positive psychological capital, secure access to education, and various related studies are needed.

노인치위생학 교육과정 개선에 대한 요구도 분석 (Analysis of educational needs for improving the geriatric dental hygiene curriculum)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the educational needs for geriatric dental hygiene and provide basic data for developing standard curricula for geriatric hygiene. Methods: To investigate the educational needs for geriatric dental hygiene, 212 students from dental hygiene departments and 205 dental hygienists engaged in clinical practice were enrolled. Results: Among the educational needs for geriatric dental hygiene, Geriatric oral health issues category was the highest with 4.06 points for students and 4.05 points for dental hygienists. Students who completed a geriatric dental hygiene course had higher scores for the following sub-domains compared to those who did not: need for geriatric dental hygiene-related theoretical education (p=0.002), needs for practice education with elderly people (p=0.001), and confidence in performing oral healthcare for elderly people after graduation (p<0.001). Meanwhile, clinical dental hygienists who not completed geriatric-related courses had higher scores for, need for geriatric dental hygiene-related theoretical education, need for practice education with elderly people, and confidence in performing oral healthcare for elderly people. but, there was no significant difference (p>0.05). Conclusions: The results of this study showed that students and dental hygienists had high educational needs for geriatric dental hygiene. In particular, there was a high demand for education related to Geriatric oral health issues as well as Geriatric dental hygiene care and skills.

치과위생사의 감정노동과 감성지능이 조직유효성에 미치는 영향 연구 (A Study on effects of emotional labor and emotional intelligence of dental hygienist on organizational effectiveness)

  • 본 연구는 치과위생사의 감정노동과 감성지능이 조직유효성에 미치는 영향 요인을 분석하였다. 연구기간은 2018년 9월 4일부터 12월 7일까지 전라북도에 근무하는 치과위생사 233명을 대상으로 실시하였다. 자료 분석은 SPSS 18.0 program을 활용하여 치과위생사의 감정노동, 감성지능, 조직유효성 정도는 평균과 표준편차, 일반적 특성에 따른 감정노동, 감성지능, 조직유효성의 차이는 t-test와 one-way ANOVA, 사후검증은 $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, 상관관계는 Pearson correlation coefficient, 조직유효성에 미치는 영향요인은 단계적 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 치과위생사의 감정노동과 감성지능, 조직유효성 간의 상관관계에서 감성노동이 높을수록 조직유효성이 낮아지는 것으로 나타났으며, 감성지능이 높을수록 조직유효성(직무만족과 조직몰입)이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 치과위생사의 조직유효성에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석한 결과 회귀모형이 유의한 것으로 나타났으며(F=138.917, P<.05), 회귀모형의 설명력은 58.2%였다. 독립변수 중 감정노동(${\beta}=0.608$)이 가장 큰 영향력을 보이는 변수로 나타났으며, 최종학력, 임상경력, 감성지능이 치과위생사의 조직유효성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구결과를 토대로 치과위생사의 조직유효성을 증진시키기 위해 감정노동을 줄이고 감성지능을 증진시킬 수 있는 효율적인 방안이 마련되어야 할 것으로 사료된다.

치과의료기관의 특성에 따른 감염관리실태 -대구, 경북지역을 중심으로- (Infection Control practices in accordance characteristic of Dental institutions -Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province around-)

  • 본 연구는 치과의료기관의 감염관리실태의 규명과 감염예방을 위해 대구, 경북지역 2012년, 2017년 2개 년도 동일한 114개의 치과의료기관의 특성에 따른 감염관리실태와 오폐수처리 및 기구소독을 설문조사하였다. 감염관리실태 8문항 평균 3.37이며 '환자의 질병병력 기록'은 95.5%로 높고 '오폐수시설이 있는 경우' 1.8%로 낮았다. 오폐수처리 및 기구소독의 9항목 평균 4.87이며 '메탈트레이 소독' 94.7%로 높고, '타구통 폐기물을 폐기물통에 보관 후 위탁처리' 17.5%, '로 낮았다. 일반적인 특징과 치과의료기관 특성에 따른 감염관리실태와 오폐수처리 및 기구소독은 2012년보다 2017년이 높았으며, 치과위생사, 대학졸업이상, 환자상담 및 관리, 병원급 이상, 치과의사 수(치과위생사 수, 체어 수, 환자 수)는 많은 경우 높았다. 총괄적으로 치과 특성을 고려하여 감염관리를 하여야 할 것이며 병원규모와 관계없이 지속적인 교육과 홍보를 필요할 것으로 사료된다.
