This study aimed to investigate the frequency of dental visits after coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in children and adolescents in comparison to that of adults. The data on the number of dental visits on the basis of different classification and treatment codes for all the age groups were provided by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service from January 2017 to December 2020. To reduce the impact of the population change, dental visits per 1000 people was used. After the start of the pandemic, dental visits per 1000 people decreased in all age groups when analyzed for the diseases of pulp and periapical tissues classification code and dental visits per 1000 people decreased over 5 years age groups when analyzed for the pulp treatment code. Regarding the restorative treatment code, visits in the 0 - 19 years age group decreased after the pandemic. Based on the comparison of the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to that of monthly dental visits by treatment codes, the change rate of pulp and restorative treatments gradually decreased after the waves of the pandemic in February and August 2020 in Korea. Furthermore, dental visits per 1000 people for gingivitis and periodontal disease classification code increased after the pandemic in all age groups. The rate of decrease in dental visits per 1000 people for restorative treatments in children and adolescents was higher than that in adults. The rate of decrease in the number of dental visits for multi-visit pulp treatments showed a rapid decrease as compared to that of 1-visit pulp treatments after the pandemic. This study identified changes in the number of dental visits of children and adolescents after COVID-19 transmission in comparison to that observed in adults.

The purpose of this study was to measure bone age using an artificial intelligence program based on the Greulich-Pyle (GP) method to find out the bone age corresponding to each stage of cervical vertebral maturation (CVM) and the middle phalanx of the third finger (MP3). This study was conducted on 3,118 patients who visited pediatric dentistry at Kyung Hee University Dental Hospital and Pusan National University Dental Hospital from 2013 to 2021. The CVM stage was divided into 5 stages according to the classification by Baccetti, and the MP3 stage was divided into 5 stages according to the methods of Hägg and Taranger. Based on the GP method, bone age was evaluated using an artificial intelligence program. The pubertal growth spurt in the CVM stage was CVM II and III. The mean bone age in CVM II was 11.00 ± 1.81 years for males and 10.00 ± 1.49 years for females, and in CVM III, 13.00 ± 1.46 years for males and 12.00 ± 1.44 years for females (p < 0.0001). The pubertal growth spurt in the MP3 stage was MP3 - G stage. The bone age at the MP3 - G stage was 13.14 ± 1.07 years for males and 11.40 ± 1.09 years for females (p < 0.0001). Bone age evaluation using artificial intelligence is worth using in clinical practice, and it is expected that a faster and more accurate diagnosis will be possible.
Codonopsis pilosula and Adenophora triphylla were cultivated by sawing seeds, but the germination rate were low. To cultivate these two wild plants was very difficult. The marketable roots of the plants had low quality. The plant pathogens were very difficulty to prevent the diseases (Rhizoctonia, Pythium, Fusarium, Erwinia, Botrytis, Phythophthora) appeared in cultural state. For the extermination of the disease needs a lot of agricultural chemicals, the effect of remain behind an insecticides was high of a hazardous rate after harvest. On this studies, for the safe prevention of the diseases and the promote of seeds germination, we used Bacillus subtilis, B. liquefaciens, Paenibacillus polymixa, Pseudomonas putida separated in our research, these results would bring us harmless products of medicinal herbs for human.
The most critical aspect of full-arch prosthodontic treatment is evaluating whether the patient's vertical occlusal dimension is appropriate, and if necessary, restoring it through increasing vertical dimension. If the vertical occlusal dimension is too low, it can lead to reduced chewing efficiency, as well as not only aesthetic concerns but also potential issues like hyperactivity of muscles and posterior displacement of the mandible. This report is about the patient dissatisfied with pronunciation and aesthetics due to an inappropriate vertical occlusal dimension resulting from prior prosthetic interventions, underwent full-arch prosthodontic restoration treatment. Through the utilization of digital diagnostic apparatus, a comprehensive evaluation was undertaken for patient's vertical occlusal dimension, occlusal plane orientation, and the condition of prosthetic restorations. Through 3D facial scanning, the facial landmarks were discerned, and subsequently, the new occlusal plane was established. This provided the foundation for a digitally guided diagnostic wax-up. An elevation of 5 mm from the incisor was determined. Comprehensive dental rehabilitation was then executed for all remaining teeth, excluding the maxillary four incisors. The treatment protocol followed a systematic approach by initially creating implant-supported restorations on both sides of the dental arch to establish a stable occlusal contact. Subsequently, prosthetic restorations for the natural dentition were generated. Diagnostic and treatment planning were established through the utilization of facial scanning. This subsequently led to a reduction in treatment complexity and an expedited treatment timeline.
The purpose of this study was to examine the state of smoking among college students and the relationship between their state of smoking and smoking beliefs in an effort to provide information on the development and utilization of smoking-prevention and antismoking programs geared toward stepping up the health promotion of college students. The subjects in this study were 1,696 people at 10 different universities located in North Jeolla Province. A survey was conducted from May 1 to June 1, 2012, and the collected data were analyzed. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. Smoking status was as follows: smoking was 23.7% for students with experience, the first one when smoking was the highest 42.1% in high school and a four-year duration of smoking was highest in at least 46.1%. 2. As for smoking beliefs by general characteristics, the respondents whose monthly allowance was between 300 and 390 thousand Korean won and 400 thousand Korean won or more got 1.91 (p<0.001), Concerning the relationship between smoking and oral health, the biggest group that replied there was no relationship between the two got 2.00, which was the highest score (p<0.001). 3. Regarding the links between the state of smoking and smoking belief, the respondents who answered elementary school days in the time to begin smoking got 2.66, which was the highest score, and the one who answered four out of their five close friends were smoking got 2.60, which was the highest score (p<0.05). 4. As to the relationship of smoking dependence and intention of quitting smoking, the respondents who answered they were quite dependent on smoking got 2.75 (p<0.001), which was the highest score. And the respondents who answered they had no intention to give up smoking got 2.68, which was the highest score (p<0.01).
One of the fastest growing segments of implant dentistry is the utilization of computed tomography (CT) scan data and treatment planning software in conjunction with guided surgery for implant reconstruction cases. Computer assisted planning systems and associated surgical templates have established a predictable, esthetic, functional technique for placing and restoring implants. Especially, a philosophy of restoratively driven implant placement has been generally adopted. Recently, a variety of commercial dental fields have released their scanning and fabricating protocols and methods for restorations. This process is still being investigated and developed for the most precise and predictable outcome. This case report describes a female patient who wanted dental implants in fully edentulous areas. Restoratively driven implant placements were performed with surgical guide and the patient was fully satisfied with the clinical results, and at 5-year post restorative follow-up assessment, both implant and prosthesis were proved clinical success.

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate longitudinal changes of the utilization of operational and surgical medical care inside and outside a metropolitan area over 10 years, analyzing the residential areas of patients and the locations of medical facilities for major cardiovascular surgery. Methods: Data analysis was conducted by classifying the addresses of patients and the locations of medical care facilities of metropolitan cities and provinces, using data from the National Health Insurance Corporation from January 2003 to December 2013. Results: There is serious concentration of major heart surgery to medical facilities in Seoul; this problem has not improved over time. There were differences in percentages of surgical procedures performed in the metropolitan areas according to major diseases. In the case of Busan and Daegu provinces, at least 50% of the patients underwent surgery in medical facilities in the city, but there are other regions where the percentage is less than 50%. In the case of provinces, the percentage of surgical procedures performed in medical facilities in Seoul or nearby metropolitan cities is very high. Conclusion: Policies to strengthen the regional capabilities of heart surgery and to secure human resources are required to mitigate the concentration of patients in the capital area. Many regional multi-centers must be designated to minimize unnecessary competition among regional university hospitals and activate a win-win partnership model for medical services.

The purpose of this study was to identify factors affecting quality of health care. Methods: The data were derived from the 2011-2013 Korea health panel survey (beta version 1.0). The data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 with descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test, and multiple logistic regression analysis. In general characteristics, common factors influencing the quality of health care were age, marital status, education level, and subjective health status. In variables related to health care utilization, unmet healthcare needs, and limitation of dental care utilization were the significant factors affecting quality of health care. The results of this study show that various factors influence quality of health care. These findings can be used to develop strategies to improve health care.
Objectives: This study was aimed at evaluating the effects of changes in the oral environment of the elderly in long-term care facilities after the intake of Weissella cibaria. Methods: The test group ingested the W. cibaria strain Chonnam Medical University (CMU), and the control group ingested the control food. Of all randomized trial subjects, 62 were analyzed (32 in the experimental group and 30 in the control group). In this 8-week demographic study, we evaluated self-perceived halitosis, changes in halitosis, sensory test results, tongue plaque index scores, saliva buffering capacity, and the salivary flow rate. Results: The W. cibaria CMU intake in the elderly in long-term care facilities during the experimental period did not demonstrate statistically significant changes in the salivary flow rate. However, self-perceived halitosis, organoleptic test results, tongue plaque index scores, and salivary buffering capacity demonstrated statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups. These findings partially confirmed the beneficial effects of the W. cibaria CMU on the oral environment in the elderly. Conclusions: Research results on the role of probiotics in the oral cavity should be summarized, and utilization plans should be sought to obtain a clearer understanding of the clinical efficacy and related factors. The value of probiotic use may be high in improving the oral health of people by enabling treatment and prevention.

The aesthetic restoration of dental implants in the anterior maxilla is a challenge for clinicians because it requires proper harmony in three following conditions; reconstruction of hard tissue, soft tissue, and aesthetic prosthesis. A newer technique, VIP-CT (Vacularized Interpositional Periosteal Connective Tissue) graft has been introduced as an alternative to these technique which allows the clinicians perform large volume soft tissue augmentation in esthetic sites with a single procedure. The advantages of the VIP-CT graft technique are that it allows the reconstruction of large soft tissue deficiency, with little constriction postoperatively. Furthermore, it facilitates improved hard tissue augmentation due to the additional blood supply and improved bone healing by mesenchymal cells. Moreover, this technique reduces patient discomfort and treatment time. This clinical report describes the procedure of bone augmentation during immediate implantation in facial dehiscence defect, especially Vascularized Interpositional Periosteal Connective Tissue(VIP-CT) graft for aesthetic anterior soft tissue.
