Turbocharger bearings are under the circumstance of high temperature, moreover rotated at high speed. It is necessary to be designed overcoming the high temperature. So the type of oil inlet port, the inlet oil temperature and the sort of engine oil should be designed, controlled and selected carefully in order to reduce the bearing inside temperature. In this study, the influence of aerated oil on a high-speed journal bearing is also examined by using the classical thermohydrodynamic lubrication theory coupled with analytical models for viscosity and density of air-oil mixture in fluid-film bearing. Convection to the walls and mixing with supply oil and re-circulating oil are considered. The considered parameters for the study of bubbly lubrication are oil inlet port's type, oil aeration level and shaft speed. It is found that the type of oil inlet ports and shaft speed play important roles in determining the temperature and pressure distribution, then the friction in a journal bearing at high speed operation. Also, the results show that, under extremely high shaft speed, the high shear effects on aerated oil and the high temperature effects are canceled out each other. So, the bearing load and friction show almost no difference between the aerated oil and pure oil.

The common production methods of nanocellulosic (cellulosic nanofibrils, CNF) materials from wood are being reviewed, together with large scale applications and particularly papermaking applications. The high energy demand for producing CNF has been one particular problem, which has been addressed over the years and can now be considered solved. Another problem was the clogging of homogenizers/microfluidizers, and the different routes to decrease the energy demand. The clogging tendency, related to the flocculation tendency of fibres is discussed in some detail. The most common methods to decrease the energy demand are TEMPO-oxidation, carboxymethylation and mechanical/enzymatic pre-treatments in the order of increased energy demand for delamination. The rheology characteristics of CNF materials, i.e. the high shear viscosity, shear thinning and the thixotropic properties are being illuminated. CNF materials are strength adjuvants that enhance the relative bonded area in paper sheets and, hence increase the sheet density and give an increased strength of the paper, particularly for chemical pulps. At the same time papers obtain a lower light scattering, higher hygroexpansion and decreased air permeability, similar to the effects of beating pulps. The negative effects on drainage by CNF materials must be alleviated through the appropriate use of microparticulate drainage aids. The use of CNF in films and coatings is interesting because CNF films and coatings can provide paper/board with good oxygen barrier properties, particularly at low relative humidities. Some other high volume applications such as concrete, oil recovery applications, automotive body applications and plastic packaging are also briefly discussed.
Low-energy processing technology, which enhances the utility of defatted soybean flour (DSF), was developed using extrusion processing. DSF was extruded at different conditions using a twin screw extruder and then, dried at $40^{\circ}C$ for 20 hr. The nitrogen solubility index (NSI), viscosity, water solubility index (WSI), and water absorption index (WAI) of DSF increased after extrusion processing. The density of DSF extrudates decreased with the decrease in water content from 53 to 33% and the increase in extrusion temperature from 110 to $160^{\circ}C$. The addition of NaOH from 1.2 to 1.8% and citric acid from 1 to 5% increased the total solubility (TS) of DSF due to the decrease of protein coiling and hydrophobic bonds formation during extrusion processing. When viscozyme was reacted first, TS, NSI, and soluble carbohydrate content of DSF hydrolysates increased about 12, 6, and 7%, respectively, compared to them reacted with protease first. The TS and NSI of DSF hydrolysates were increased about 15 and 10%, respectively, by extrusion processing at alkaline and acidic pH. Extrusion processing at alkaline and acidic pH contributed the increase of efficiency to hydrolyze DSF samples using enzyme.

There are three types of high fluidity concrete: powder based, VMA based, and combined. In the case of the powder based high fluidity concrete mixture, according to the textbook, increased viscosity due to the replaced fly ash can prevent segregation of coarse aggregate. On the other hand, decreased density of the powder due to the fly ash replacement can causes segregation but there is no report on this issue. Therefore, in this research, the segregation resistance and segregation evaluation method for powder based high fluid concrete mixture are evaluated. As a result, with increased replacing ration of supplementary materials, EIS value was decreased and apparently segregation resistance was increased. However, from the compressive strength evaluation depending on height of the cylindrical specimen, it was confirmed that the different of strength difference between top and bottom part of the specimen. Thus, following research regarding vertical segregation should be studied.

Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG1K) and sulfonated PEG (PEG1K-SO$_3$) methacrylate (MA) copolymers have been prepared and characterized. The structures of the synthesized copolymers were confirmed by $^1$H and $^{13}$ C NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The bulk characteristics of the copolymers were evaluated by viscosity and thermal analysis. The surface properties of the copolymers were investigated using dynamic contact angle measurements and electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis. The hydrophilicity of the surfaces modified with PEG1KMA or PEG1K-SO$_3$MA increased, possibly as a result of the orientation of the hydrophilic PEG1KMA/PEG1K-SO$_3$MA chains into the water phase. Platelets adhered less to the surfaces of the copolymers than they did to a polyurethane control. In addition, adhesion of platelets to the copolymer surfaces decreased upon increasing the chain density of PEG1KMA and sulfonated PEG1KMA in the copolymers. Both bacterial adhesion and protein adsorption were significantly reduced on the copolymer surfaces and their levels differ depending on the kind of surface or media.
The object of this study was to investigate the difference in physical and sensory properties of various premium ice creams. The physical properties of the various ice creams were compared by manufacturing brand. The water contents of the samples differed, with BR having the highest value at 60.5%, followed by NT and CS at 57.8% and 56.9%, respectively. The higher the water content, the lower Brix and milk fat contents in all samples. The density of the samples showed almost similar values in all samples (p>0.05). The viscosity of each ice cream had no effect on the water content in any of the brands. Before melting of the ice cream, the total color difference was dependent on the lightness, especially in the vanilla ice cream, owing to the reflection of light on the surface of the ice crystals. The CS product melted the fastest. In the sensory test, CS obtained a significantly higher sweetness intensity score but a lower score for color intensity, probably due to the smaller difference in total color, by which consumers might consider the color of CS as less intense. From this study, the cold chain system for ice cream distribution might be important to decide the physical properties although the concentration of milk fat is key factor in premium ice cream.
In order to create a single flocculant/dual flocculation system, polyacrylamide-co-trimethyl ammonium ethyl acrylate chloride (TAEAC) polymers with varying molecular weights and structures were prepared for use of flocculants. The higher the cationic density of the polymer is higher, the higher was the conversion rate and the ratio of monomer. An acrylamide as nonionic monomer was less reactive than a TAEAC as cationic monomer. The branched polymer which was polymerized with a cross-linking agent, N, N-methylene bis-acrylamide had a higher stability and higher viscosity than a linear polymer but its dewatering efficiency was poor in a single flocculation system. In the case of single flocculant/dual flocculation, the branched polymer has better flocculation efficiency and the water content of the dewatered cakes was lower than the others, as the result of a re-flocculation effect. The optimum conditions for dual flocculation are a sequence in which the $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ dosage are 75% and 25%/total dosage of a single flocculation system. The dewatering efficiency of a dual flocculation system is improved considerably from 10 to 25% under the experimental conditions used herein.
An anode-supported SOFC single cell having $5{\mu}m$ thin electrolyte was fabricated cost-effectively by tape casting, laminating, and co-filing of anode (NiO-YSZ), cathode (LSM-YSZ), and electrolyte (YSZ) components. The optimal slurry compositions of the green tapes for SOFC components were determined by an analysis of the mean diameter, the slurry viscosity, the tensile strength/strain of the green tapes, and their green microstructures. The single cells with a dense electrolyte and porous electrodes could be co-fired successfully at $1325\sim1350^{\circ}C$ by controlling the contents of pore former and the ratio of coarse YSZ and fine YSZ in the anode and the cathode. The single cell co-fired at $1350^{\circ}C$ showed $100.2mWcm^{-2}$ of maximum power density at $800^{\circ}C$ but it was impossible to apply it to operate at low temperature because of low performance and high ASR, which were attributed to formation of the secondary phases in the cathode and the interface between the electrolyte and the cathode.

Plate-shaped inorganic particles are coated onto a stainless steel substrate by the electrophoretic deposition of a precursor slurry which includes the inorganic particles of $Al_2O_3$ and polymer resin in mixed solvents to mimic the abalone shell structure, which is a composite of plate-shaped inorganic particles and organic interlayer binding materials with a layered orientation. The process parameters of the electrophoretic deposition include the voltage, coating time, and conductivity of the substrate. In addition, the suspension parameters are the particle size, concentration, viscosity, conductivity, and stability. We prepared an organic-inorganic composite coating with a high inorganic solid content by arraying the plate-shaped $Al_2O_3$ particles and electrophoretic resin via an electrophoretic deposition method. We analyzed the effect of the slurry composition and the electrophoretic deposition process parameters on the physical, mechanical and thermal properties of the coating layer, i.e., the thickness, density, particle orientation, Young's modulus and thermogravimetric analysis results.
When oil is spilled at sea, the oil boom is commonly used to tackle the movement and spreading of oil in an early stage of oil spill combat. But the retaining capability of oil boom is affected by various factors, such as water velocity, viscosity and density of oil, water depth, oil volume and the length of boom draft. In this study, a computer modelling was peformed to investigate how these factors influence the oil retaining process. The Fluent, most popular one of many CFD(computational fluid dynamics) programs is chosen for modelling and modelling results were verified using the empirical data. It is expected that results of this study will be useful data for oil boom designer and oil spill response commander.
