지뢰제거복의 착용실태에 관한 기초조사연구 (A Research on The Actual Condition of Demining Suit Wearing)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the actual condition of demining suit wearing for developing a new demining suit. The existing clothes fro detecting or demining work are lack of security, activity, and comfort. Especially, the lack of protection on the limbs and the head, and the lack of protection of its own fabrics themselves are problems in security. Developing new demining suit should consider security, activity, and facility for putting on and off the clothes with comfort. And first of all, protection from the fragments should be considered. For the improvement of the activity, flexibility, lightness, and simplicity with suitable size with minimum bulk should be considered. In adjustment, the facility is more important than the strength and the newly developed material for protection need lightness, too.

비폭파식 지뢰제거 무한궤도형 주행 로봇의 작업 깊이 제어 (Clearance Depth Control for the Non-explosive Demining System of a Tracked Mobile Robot)

  • Up to now, a lot of unmanned demining systems have been developed. However, some inferiority surely exist by reason of their large platform and explosive mechanism. To settle this inferiority, non-explosive demining system adaptable to a mobile robot already has been developed. Brief experiment indoors showed that developed demining system can remove landmines well. But, out of doors, several problems are detected. In this research, a study on the performance improvement of developed non-explosive demining system is mainly discussed. To overcome downhill effect, mechanical sensor composed of shaft and spring is used. It is confirmed that clearance depth control using the mechanical sensor is a good solution for the inclination of the system.

  • This paper introduces a link-type tracked vehicle which is developed for demining operations. The vehicle consists of three parts - front frame, rear frame and body. The front frame is connected to the rear frame by a rotational passive adaptation mechanism which is a driving mechanism of the vehicle. Additionally, the demining system which is adaptable to mobile robot is developed to clear small Anti-Personnel(AP) mines with inexplosive method. In other words, assembled rakes unearth mines by their opposite rotation to the direction of the robot. Finally, the motions of demining rakes and design parameters of the demining system are analyzed.

ALIS : GPR System for Humanitarian Demining and Its Deployment in Cambodia

  • Humanitarian demining is very important issue not only in mine affected courtiers but also for the courtiers which are technically, politically and financially supporting the mine affected courtiers. In order to achieve higher efficiency of the mine clearance operation, new technologies can significantly contribute to the societies. Since 2002, Tohoku University, Japan has developed a sensor system "ALIS" for humanitarian demining. ALIS is a hand-held dual sensor, which combines an electromagnetic induction sensor (EMI) and a Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). ALIS has a real-time sensor tracking system based on a CCD camera and which enables the image reconstruction. We have tested ALIS in Cambodia and found that it can eliminate more than 70 % metal fragments. Since 2009, 2 sets of ALIS have detected more than 80 anti-personnel mines, and cleared more than 137,000 $m^2$ in Cambodia.

  • Up to now, non-explosive demining system adaptable to a mobile robot has been developed. This system has much smaller platform and consists of non-explosive mechanism. Brief experiment indoors showed thai developed demining system can remove landmines well. But, out of doors, some problems are detected i.e. Inclination of overall system causes a suspension of rake rotation. In this research, a study on performance improvement of developed non-explosive demining system is mainly discussed. To compensate the inclination of the system, mechanical sensor composed of shaft and spring is used. This sensor gives a signal to a leadscrew motor and controls a rotating direction. From an experiment, it is confirmed that the mechanical sensor as stated is a good solution of the inclination of the system.

  • 지뢰 제거에서 가장 중요한 요소는 지뢰의 탐지인데, 현재 이용되고 있는 장비들의 성능에는 나름대로 장.단점들이 있어 주로 미구기과 유럽에서 새로운 지뢰의 센서기술을 개발하려는 노력이 대단히 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 캄보디아나 아프칸 등 전쟁 또는 내전의 후유증으로 제거되지 않고 방치된 무수히 많은 지뢰들에 의해 민간인들의 피해가 계속되자 UN을 중심으로 한 소위 '인도적 지뢰제거'(Humanitarian Demining)사업이 펼쳐지게 되면서 선진국을 중심으로 이 분야의 연구개발 예산이 늘어나기 시작하였다.

지뢰 탐지용 방호복 구성과 방호성능 및 착용감 평가 (A Study on The Development and Evaluation of Mine Detective Gear)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate a newly developed protective suit with the fragments of grenade. The protection efficiency should be strengthened upon the degree of wound. The fragment weight of the used grenade was measured and the kinetic energy of the maximum speed of the fragments in the field test was 137.7J and this could be the protective efficiency test by the multitude fragments in less than 0.031g of the M16A1. The panel inserted to the new demining suit has protection rate of 100% within the distance of 1m and sample II has protection rate of 100% only beyond the distance of 5m. The test showed that the protection rate on the protective suit of the existing garment was comparatively high, however, the protection rate of the sleeve part was very low. The new demining suit through the research demand some complementary measures to lower the temperatures in ear, average skin temperatures, and the temperatures-humidity inside the clothing for summer climate condition, It showed that 30 minutes of rest on the clothing was difficult to go back to the original condition. But in winter climate condition, there was no problem in the temperature, humidity, and comfort to go back to the original condition during the rest and was better in warmth.

  • We conducted geophysical surveys to detect antitank mine at Namji-eup, Gyeongsangnam-do which had been installed during Korean war. The surveys consisted of 2 stages, at the first stage we divided the survey area into 7 block and carried out magnetic gradient survey and GEM-3 EM survey sequentially for each block. Hence we verified anomaly areas using an excavator and a metal detector. Most of anomalies were found to be garbages such as trash cans, metallic wastes, and so on. And also, the concrete pipe was found at depth of 1 m, which had not referred in any report of that area. At the second stage, after trenching the covered soil down to 75 cm the same surveys were conducted. We could not find the strong signal to be inferred from a antitank mine, but we pointed out some anomalies to need careful handling because demining is very dangerous work even though there is few possibility that is mine.
