Prediction of Physical Examination Demand Using Text Mining (텍스트 마이닝을 이용한 건강검진 수요 예측)

  • Recently, physical examinations have become an important strategy to reduce costs for individuals and society. Pre-physical counseling is important for an effective physical examination. However, incomplete counseling is being conducted because the demand for physical examinations is not predicted. Therefore, in this study, the demand for physical examination was predicted using text mining and stepwise regression. As a result of the analysis, the most recent text data showed a high explanatory power of the demand for physical examination. Also, large amounts of data have high explanatory power. In addition, it was found that the high frequency of the text "health food" reduces the number of health examination customers. And the higher the frequency of the text of the word "food", the lower the number of physical examination customers. However, when the word "wild ginseng" was exposed a lot on Twitter, the number of physical examination customers visiting hospitals increased. In other words, customers consume efficiently by comparing the health examination price with the price of consumer goods. The proposed research framework can help predict demand in other industries.

  • The objective of this research is to construct and build a software platform to enable collaboration among enterprise headquarters, product designers, software engineers, manufacturing plants, and suppliers which are locate at different remote locations via internet. In specific, agent technology is adopted as a software vehicle to automate demand and supply process in the internet environment. Agents are programs that act on behalf of their human users to perform laborious tasks such as information locating, accessing, filtering, integrating, adapting and resolving inconsistencies. Global competion is forcing the present day industry to produce high quality product more fast and inexpensively. In Korea, most labor-intensive industries have moved to China and other Asian countries for cost reduction. The need for fast information exchange has increased among the remote locations for the cooperation and coordination. In this research, a virtual global purchasing and ordering system will be constructured that distributes production schedule among remote places, acts as a bridge between the headquarters and manufacturing plants, distributes tasks and collates different solutions between demand and supply using agent. The external communication protocol takes HTML format, internal message handling requires SGML for document exchange, and KQML for agent implementation. The expected benefits will be : reduced cost of real-time information exchange, realization of global manufacturing environment, the maximum utilization of internet for the enterprise data exchange.

Passenger Demand Forecasting for Urban Air Mobility Preparation: Gimpo-Jeju Route Case Study (도심 항공 모빌리티 준비를 위한 승객 수요 예측 : 김포-제주 노선 사례 연구)

  • Half of the world's total population lives in cities, continuous urbanization is progressing, and the urban population is expected to exceed two-thirds of the total population by 2050. To resolve this phenomenon, the Korean government is focusing on building a new urban air mobility (UAM) industrial ecosystem. Airlines are also part of the UAM industry ecosystem and are preparing to improve efficiency in safe operations, passenger safety, aircraft operation efficiency, and punctuality. This study performs demand forecasting using time series data on the number of daily passengers on Korean Air's Gimpo to Jeju route from 2019 to 2023. For this purpose, statistical and machine learning models such as SARIMA, Prophet, CatBoost, and Random Forest are applied. Methods for effectively capturing passenger demand patterns were evaluated through various models, and the machine learning-based Random Forest model showed the best prediction results. The research results will present an optimal model for accurate demand forecasting in the aviation industry and provide basic information needed for operational planning and resource allocation.

Water demand forecasting at the DMA level considering sociodemographic and waterworks characteristics (사회인구통계 및 상수도시설 특성을 고려한 소블록 단위 물 수요예측 연구)

  • Numerous studies have established a correlation between sociodemographic characteristics and water usage, identifying population as a primary independent variable in mid- to long-term demand forecasting. Recent dramatic sociodemographic changes, including urban concentration-rural depopulation, low birth rates-aging population, and the rise in single-person households, are expected to impact water demand and supply patterns. This underscores the necessity for operational and managerial changes in existing water supply systems. While sociodemographic characteristics are regularly surveyed, the conducted surveys use aggregate units that do not align with the actual system. Consequently, many water demand forecasts have been conducted at the administrative district level without adequately considering the water supply system. This study presents an upward water demand forecasting model that accurately reflects real water facilities and consumers. The model comprises three key steps. Firstly, Statistics Korea's SGIS (Statistical Geological Information System) data was reorganized at the DMA level. Secondly, DMAs were classified using the SOM (Self-Organizing Map) algorithm to consider differences in water facilities and consumer characteristics. Lastly, water demand forecasting employed the PCR (Principal Component Regression) method to address multicollinearity and overfitting issues. The performance evaluation of this model was conducted for DMAs classified as rural areas due to the insufficient number of DMAs. The estimation results indicate that the correlation coefficients exceeded 0.9, and the MAPE remained within approximately 10% for the test dataset. This method is expected to be useful for reorganization plans, such as the expansion and contraction of existing facilities.

  • The present paper discusses some problem areas in supplying information. As the world advances in civilization, we need exact and rapid information exchange, it may be said in this connection that we also feel keenly the necessity of the industrialization of the information. In accordance with the industrialization of the information, we can find the following phenomena: 1. Increase of present potentiality users. 2. Demand of high level information in accordance with the improvement of education level, 3. Increase of demand in the information materials in accordance with growth of research and development. 4. Contraction of the existing knowhow and degeneration of special field technique, 5. Increase of information concerned person for policy making in the government and in the industry. In the meantime, the information problem occurs for efficient management of information materials, in addition to numerical increase of various kinds, increase of users crate control and standardization problem, so it is needed to improve a mode of expression, structure, file and methods of usage. The librarian, as a information processor, should recognize that the information is national resources and improve the marketability of information industry. We need an administrative system of national level for the development of library in accordance with increase of an administrator who is engaged in information activities.

A Road Environment Analysis for the Introduction of Connected and Automated Driving-based Mobility Services from an Operational Design Domain Perspective (자율주행기반 모빌리티 서비스 도입을 위한 운행설계영역 관점의 도로환경 분석)

  • As connected and automated driving(CAD) technology is entering its commercialization stage, service platforms providing CAD-based mobility services have increased these days. However, CAD-baded mobility services with these platforms need more consideration for the demand for mobility services when determining target areas for CAD-based mobility services because current CAB-based mobility design focus on driving performance and driving stability. For a more efficient design of CAD-based mobility services, we analyzed the applicability for the introduction of CAD-based mobility services in terms of driving difficulty of CAD and demand patterns of current non-CAD based-mobility services, e.g., taxi, demand-responsive transit(DRT), and special transportation systems(STS). In addition, for the spatial analysis of the applicability of the CAD-based mobility service, we propose the Index for Autonomous Driving Applicability (IADA) and analyze the characteristics of the spatial distribution of IADA from the network perspective. The analysis results show that the applicability of CAD-based mobility services depends more on the demand patterns than the driving difficulty of CAV. In particular, the results show that the concentration pattern of demand in a specific road link is more important than the size of demand. As a result, STS service shows higher applicability compared to other mobility services, even though the size of demand for this mobility service is relatively small.

  • Purpose - The domestic technology trading market is composed of a technology trading platform with the participation of technology trading institutions. The institution that operates the technology trading platform provides various support for technology transaction. The purpose of this study is to suggest improvement plans through analysis of the services provided by the technology trading platform. Design/methodology/approach - TA model was built based on existing research and the importance and satisfaction of each evaluation item of the model were identified through the hierarchical analysis process and expert opinion gathering. Then importance-satisfaction correlation analysis was applied. Findings - As a result of analyzing the importance of the technology trading platform, supply technology information, technology value evaluation, and demand technology information are in order. Technology marketing and demand technology information are areas that require focus management and there are differences according to experience and low-skilled people suggest the need to improve technology value evaluation service. Research implications or Originality - This study is significant in that it evaluated the operational performance of a technology trading platform that had not been addressed for 15 years and suggested improvement measures. Initially a series of technology transaction processes such as technology value evaluation technology matching and technology commercialization support were expanded from simple information on previous technology and this study includes these changes.

Development of Active Suspension System for Wheelchairs to Improve Riding Comfort of Gait Disorders (보행 장애인의 승차감 개선을 위한 휠체어용 능동형 서스펜션 시스템 개발)

  • As the number of people with gait disorders increases, the demand for using wheelchairs increases and the area of a ctivity for people with disabilities expands, thereby they increasing the demand for riding comfortability in various driving environments. Therefore, this study is to develop an entry-level active suspension system that apply to wheelchairs and to evaluate its usability. The suspension applied in this paper consists of a coil spring, a shock absorber, a control module to control the strength of the shock absorber, and a road surface condition monitoring system. A wheelchair occupant secures the riding comfort by adjusting the coil strength of the shock absorber in 12 steps according to various road conditions. Therefore, the mechanical properties were evaluated through the structural analysis of the suspension system, and the tendency toward the magnitude of the road surface vibration attenuated according to the rigidity of the suspension through the vibration test was attempted. In conclusion, as a result of structural analysis of the suspension system, stress in a range lower than the yield strength of the material was generated, and the vibration test showed the effect of attenuating the vibration generated from the road surface when the stiffness of the suspension was adjusted.

Effects of Experiential Value on Continuous Use Intention for On-Demand Services (온디맨드(On-Demand) 서비스의 지속사용의도에 대한 경험가치 효과)

  • On-Demand services have emerged as one of the core business strategies for delivering new experiential values by providing customized services in different user-needs nowadays. Based on the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework, this paper focuses on the factors of environmental stimulation and emotional states of the demand-side that induce continuous intention of use from the On-Demand services. The study defines 'Informativeness', 'Fulfillment', 'Trust', and 'Convenience' as the properties of the On-Demand services and considers 'Playfulness', 'Customer Return on Investment (CROI)', and 'Service Excellence' as the aspects of the experiential values. The research shows that 'Fulfillment', 'Trust' and 'Convenience' affected the experiential value in 'Kakao Taxi (On-Demand transportation service)' while 'Informativeness', 'Fulfillment', 'Trust of platform', and 'Convenience' are represented as the related factors to the experiential value in 'Baedal Minjok (On-Demand food delivery service)'. The experiential value factors, 'CROI' and 'Service Excellence', are shown directly related to the continuous intention of use in both services. A partial mediation relationship is, furthermore, observed between the aspects of 'CROI' and 'Service Excellence' in Kakao Taxi and its 'Convenience' and 'Continuous intention of use.' In Baedal Minjok, a partial mediation relationship is found between the 'CROI' with its aspects of 'Trust of the platform', 'Convenience', and 'Continuous intention of use' as well. The results of this study may contribute a comprehensive understanding of the purpose of On-Demand services and its needs from the demand-side thus can be helpful for the supply-side.

Development of an Automatic System for Feasibility Studies on Transport Investment

  • New transport technologies have been rapidly developed and various transport systems are ready to introduce. However, there no exists effective decision making tools for pre-feasibility studies on transport systems. The pre-feasibility studies should provide reliable solutions about whether a certain transport system is feasible or not by cost-benefit analysis and effectiveness test of enhancing regional economy. This study introduces the smart transport investment/information system (SMARTIS) for supporting decision making with ease, fast and reliable methods. The SMARTIS incorporates travel demand estimates into the process of feasibility studies with automatic data processing methods to give reliable solutions quickly. The SMARTIS is expected to be informative for transit agencies, planners, and operators.
