The full-length cDNA of the porcine peroxisomal ${\Delta}^3$,${\Delta}^2$-enoyl-CoA isomerase (PECI) gene encodes a monofunctional peroxisomal ${\Delta}^3$,${\Delta}^2$-enoyl-CoA isomerase. Cloning and sequencing of the porcine PECI cDNA revealed the presence of an 1185-base pair open reading frame predicted to encode a 394-amino acid protein by the 5'rapid amplification of cDNA ends (5'RACE) and EST sequences. The porcine PECI gene was expressed in seven tissues (heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney, skeletal muscle, fat) which was revealed by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The porcine PECI was mapped to SSC71/2 p11-13 using the somatic cell hybrid panel (SCHP) and the radiation hybrid panel (RH) (LOD score 12.84). The data showed that PECI was closely linked to marker S0383. A C/T single nucleotide polymorphism in PECI exon 10 (3'UTR) was detected as a PvuII PCR-RFLP. Association analysis in our experimental pig population showed that different genotypes of PECI gene were significantly associated with the Average Backfat thickness (ABF) (p<0.05) and Buttock backfat thickness (p<0.01).
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of continuing work on VDT(video display terminal), therefore this study examined visual fatigue, unaided visual acuity, refractive error, accommodation and horizontal phoria of 152 subjects who did two hour long VDT work. For the ocular symptoms, the greatest number was tired eyes accounting for 45.71%. In the visual symptoms, blurred vision was the hightest rate of 80.39% and in case of systemic symptoms shoulder pain was 33.33% marked top ranking. The average of near visual acuity decresed almost 10% from 0.47 to 0.42, but refractive error increased about 0.10D to the direction of myopic shift. The amplitude of accommodation decreased approximately 0.72D from 7.46D to 6.74D. Accommodation facility was delayed from 2.27 second to 2.50 second, the amplitude of positive relative accommodation was decreased from 4.76D to 4.16D and the amplitude of negative relative accommodation was decreased from 2.46D to 2.33D. The horizontal phoria shifted to the direction of esophoria from $1.82{\Delta}$ to $3.24{\Delta}$.

This paper presents a reliable numerical procedure for nonlinear time-history analysis of space steel frames subjected to dynamic loads. Geometric nonlinearities of member (P-$\delta$) and frame (P-$\Delta$) are taken into account by the use of stability functions in framed stiffness matrix formulation. The gradual yielding along the member length and over the cross section is included by using a tangent modulus concept and a softening plastic hinge model based on the New-Orbison yield surface. A computer program utilizing the average acceleration method for the integration scheme is developed to numerically solve the equation of motion of framed structure formulated in an incremental form. The results of several numerical examples are compared with those derived from using beam element model of ABAQUS program to illustrate the accuracy and the computational efficiency of the proposed procedure.
We designed and fabricated a $2{\times}4$ symmetric self electro-optic effect device array using GaAs/ AIo.04 G$\DeltaR$), and optical bistability loop width ($\Delta$). The average values of the elements of the $2{\times}4$ S-SEED array were CR~13.1, R~24%, and $\Delta$~91%. It was found that the AFP cavity structure enhances the self-biased optical bistability in ESQW-SEED under no external bias. That is due to the decreased intrisic region thickness in AFP-SEED structures, and which increases the built-in electric fields. The zero-biased S-SEED showed CR of ~4.7, R~9%, and $\Delta$~22%.X>~22%.
To investigate the difference in the value of horizontal heterophoria measured in phoria test of about normal 72 college students, using both Von Graefe test and Maddox rod test. We used two different methods which are Von Graefe test and Maddox rod test on full correction condition at the long distance. Using Von Graefe test of horizontal heterophoria Measurement, We measured 21 patients(29%) for orthophoria, 36 patients(50%) for exophoria and 15 patients(21%) for esophoria at distance. Using Maddox rod test of horizontal heterophoria Measurement, We measured 36 patients(50%) for orthophoria, 26 patients(36%) for exophoria and 10 patients(14%) for esophoria at distance. Each test average were $0.93{\Delta}$ BI for Von Graefe test, $0.96{\Delta}$ BI for Maddox rod test. We could not find the definite difference about the value of horizontal heterophoria aby testing method. Furthermore, heterphoria AC/A ratio was found to vary from 1.0 to 8.8 and its relationship to refractive error could not be determined.
Isotope ratio ($^{15}N/^{14}N$) and nitrate-nitrogen concentration in groundwater were measured to investigate the effect of chemical fertilizer and livestock manure on temporal variations in nitrate-nitrogen concentration and to estimate the contribution of fertilizer and manure to groundwater contamination by nitrate. Four study wells from a rural area in Kyonggi province were selected. One well was located on an upper site from a livestock feedlot, and the others were situated at lower sites from the feedlot. The ${\delta}^{15}N$ values were analyzed by a stable isotope ratio mass spectrometer (Micromass, VG Optima IRMS). Reproducibility of the method and precision of the mass spectrometer were below 1.0 and 0.1‰, respectively Even though study wells were located at the same area, nitrate-nitrogen concentrations and ${\delta}^{15}N$ values differed and fluctuated during the sampling period. The ${\delta}^{15}N$ values of well located at upper site from the feedlot were extremely variable (-1.48~20.80‰). The ranges of ${\delta}^{15}N$ value of three wells situated at lower sites from the feedlot were 11.83~20.73 (ave. 16.11), 8.90~11.73 (ave.11.01), and 5.29~12.73‰ (ave. 8.21‰) with increasing distance from the feedlot. The average values of contribution proportion of nitrogen derived from livestock manure to nitrate-nitrogen in groundwater were 79% for the well closet to the feedlot, 44% for the well most distant from the feedlot, and 56% for the well in between the two wells.

This study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of 5% sodium fluoride-polyvinyl alcohol (NaF-PVA) tape influencing enamel remineralization by analysing enamel surface microhardness (SMH) and variation of ${\Delta}F$ of QLF. After enamel demineralizing of specimen, these 60 specimens with average KHN of microhardness ranging from 50 to 100 and with ${\Delta}F$ of QLF ranging from -15 to -25 were divided into four groups : group 1 (control group), group 2 (NaF-PVA), group 3 (fluoride varnish, FluoroDose$^{(R)}$ varnish), group 4 (Casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate, Tooth mousse plus$^{TM}$). These specimens were treated with materials and then immersed in artificial saliva. We measured remineralization rate each using surface microhardness (SMH) and Quantitative light-induced fluorescence digital (QLF-D). As a result, NaF-PVA tape is better than group 1, 4 and have comparable remineralization effect with group 3 (p < 0.05).
The CIIR blends, which is use for shoes outsole, with SSBR, XNBR and KBR were prepared with various mixing ratio. The viscoelastic properties of these blends, such as tensile modulus, rebound resilience, storage modulus, tan${\delta}$, and creep properties were measured. In the rebound resilience measurement, KBR showed the highest value, which means the lowest energy absorption to stress. As SSBR, XNBR and KBR blends with CIIR, the rebound resilience of the mixtures showed tendency to increase in arithmetic average. In the creep measurement, CIIR showed the highest visconse strain to stress, SSBR and KBR showed lower visconse strain. Maximum tan${\delta}$ peak of CIIR, SSBR and XNBR appeared at $-30^{\circ}C$, $5^{\circ}C$ and $0^{\circ}C$ respectively.
Purpose: This study was to investigate that near gradient AC/A ratio could be used to prescribe a patient with distance exophoria, we compared the difference between distance gradient AC/A ratio and near gradient AC/A ratio. Also, this thesis was to understand the relationship between calculated AC/A ratio and gradient AC/A ratio. Methods: Objective and subjective refractive error were corrected and we used Howell (3 m) chart for distance phoria tests and Howell-Kim (40 cm) chart for near phoria tests. The near gradient AC/A ratio and calculated AC/A ratio were used by Howell-Kim (40 cm) combined with +1.00 D, -1.00 D, +2.00 D and -2.00 D. Results: The average value of distance exophoria was 1.17${\pm}$1.17 $\Delta$, and the average value of near exophoria was 3.71${\pm}$2.80 $\Delta$ (t-test. p<0.001). The correlation of distance phoria with near phoria was little higher (r = 0.59, p < 0.001). Gradient AC/A ratios depending on measuring distance and stimulus were higher (r = 0.11~0.53. P < 0.001), when distance was shorter and stimulus to accommodation was more. Also, stimulus to accommodation by plus lens was higher than stimulus to accommodation by minus lens (paired t-test. p < 0.001). There was negative correlation between calculated AC/A ratio and gradient AC/A ratio. As the calculated AC/A ratio was higher, gradient AC/A ratio was lesser. Near gradient AC/A ratio was slightly higher than distance gradient AC/A ratio. Distance and near gradient AC/A ratio taken through the subjective -1.00 D were 1.30 $\Delta$/D and 1.68 $\Delta$/D(t-test. t=1.67, p < 0.001). Conclusions: There is negative correlation between calculated AC/A ratio and gradient AC/A ratio. Also, there is subtle difference between near gradient AC/A ratio and distance gradient AC/A ratio. Therefore, we need to measure distance gradient AC/A ratio when a practitioner prescribe glasses for a patient with distance exophoria.
Purpose: This study was to examine how decline of visual function affects visual perception by assessing visual perception after improving visual function through visual training, and observing the change in the cognitive ability of visual perception. Methods: This study analyzes the visual perceptual evaluation (TVPS_R) of 23 children below age 13($8.75{\pm}1.66$) who have visual abnormalities, and improves visual function after conducting vision training (vision therapy) of the children. Results: Convergence increased from average $3.39{\pm}2.52{\Delta}$ (prism) to $13.87{\pm}6.04{\Delta}$ in the measurement of long-distance disparate points, and from average $5.48{\pm}3.42{\Delta}$ to $18.43{\pm}7.58{\Delta}$ in the measurement of short-distance disparate points. Short-distance diplopia points increased from $25.87{\pm}7.33cm$ to $7.48{\pm}2.87cm$, and as for accommodative insufficiency, short-distance blur points increased from $19.57{\pm}7.16cm$ to $7.09{\pm}1.88cm$. In the visual perceptual evaluation performed before and after improving visual function, 6 items except visual memory showed statistically significant improvement. By order of significant improvement, response gap was highest with $17.74{\pm}16.94$(p=0.000) in visual closure, followed by $15.65{\pm}17.11$(p=0.000) in visual sequential-memory, $13.65{\pm}16.63$(p=0.001) in visual figure-ground, $12.74{\pm}18.41$(p=0.003) in visual form-constancy, $6.48{\pm}10.07$ (p=0.005) in visual discrimination, and $4.17{\pm}9.33$(p=0.043) in visual spatial-relationship. In the visual perception quotient that added up these scores, the response gap was $15.22{\pm}8.66$(p=0.000), showing a more significant result. Conclusions: Vision training enables efficient visual processing and improves visual perceptual ability. It was confirmed that improvement of visual function through visual training not only improves abnormal visual function but also affects visual perception of children such as learning, perception and recognition.
