From this, ultimately, a final Q sample of 35 statements was obtained. The P sample sorted the Q sample for observation experience toward delivery. The collected data was analyzing using PC QUANL program, which revealed three distinctive types of delivery experience about nursing students. Type 1 is a sympathy towards delivery woman, type 2 is a requirement of care. And type 3 is a future of analogical inference of delivery type. In conclusion, it is needed not only to give high quality of nursing service but also to have a right job value based on proper understanding of patient. Also, it is recommended about education of nursing students for making right view of value based on the three types of delivery experience.

  • Purpose: This study was aimed to evaluate the effects of Labor Support Behaviors (LSB) one-to-one application and partner's delivery participation on the delivery satisfaction and delivery results among mothers who delivered premature birth and low birth weight infant. Methods: The data were collected from 30 mothers in the experimental group and 27 in the control group from April 23, 2009 to April 22, 2010. The collected data were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation, $x^2-test$ (Fisher's exact test) and t-test with SPSS. Results: The satisfaction levels of the experimental group and the control group women were $3.73{\pm}0.43$ and $3.72{\pm}0.34$ as mean values, respectively, showing not statistically different (t=0.07, p=.945). None showed less than 7 point of Apgar score at 1 minute in the experimental group while 5 out of 27 did (18.5%) in the control group, which was statistically meaningful. Also, the emergent cesarian section cases were 3 out of 33 (9.1%) in the experimental group and 5 out of 32 (15.6%) in the control group, demonstrating lower emergency cesarian section rate in the experimental group than the control group, but showing not statistically different ($x^2=0.643$, p=.475). Conclusion: The results of this study show that LSB one-to-one application and partner's participation has affirmative effects on 1 minute Apgar scores of newborns.

  • The purpose of the present study is to consider its effect on the childbirth of a woman. This is a quasi-experimental study with nonequivalent control group post-test design. The subjects of this study are 60 primiparas (30 in the control, and another 30 in the experimental group) who have had a regular prenatal care from February 5 to March 20, 2002, in an outpatient obstetrics and gynecology of S university medical center located in Seoul. The result is as follows: 1. The hours of labor pains in the entire delivery period: the average hours are 7 hr. 9 min. in the experimental group, and 10 hr. 39 min. in the control group. The hours of labor pains are shorter in the woman with a family delivery experience in LDR. The difference is statistically significant (t=-3.34, p=.001). 2. The degree of pains in the entire delivery period: the average degree is 7.38 in the experimental group, and 7.68 in the control group. The degree of labor pains are lower in the woman with a family delivery experience in LDR. But, the difference is statistically insignificant (t=-0.86, p=.396). 3. The perceptions of the delivery experience: the average score of the perception is 73.63 in the experimental group, and 63.57 in the control group. The women with a family delivery experience in LDR have more positive perception of the delivery procedure, and, the difference is statistically significant (t=4.65, p=.000). In summary of the above result, a family-participated delivery in LDR is proved to be an effective nursing intervention that shortens the hours spent in the delivery procedure and promotes positive perceptions of the delivery experience.

Methods: van Kaam's Psychophenomenological method composed of a four-stage, 12-step format was used. In-depth interviews were carried out from January to July, 2011, with twelve women. Results: Through the data analysis, 403 significant statements, 172 elements, 48 subcategories, and 19 categories were extracted, and from the 19 categories, 8 themes were drawn. The eight themes were: "Conflict on whether a hospital or a midwifery clinic", "Choosing natural delivery with the assurance of her ability to delivery spontaneously and having trust in the midwives." "Being encouraged by a midwife and family members with one accord", "Experience of the spontaneous delivery process on body", "Comfortable delivery in spite of painful process", "Deeply impressed by the overwhelming joy of birth", "Satisfaction with spontaneous delivery", and "Deeper love among family members". Conclusion: Through this study, women's delivery experiences with midwives was of spontaneous delivery. Women's birth of self-confidence and trust between the midwives and the women to predict a spontaneous delivery is a powerful factor. Also, family support and midwives delicate care was identified as factors in spontaneous delivery.

  • Purpose: This study was aimed to examine the gap between predicted cesarean section rate and real cesarean section rate and it's determining factors of 44 tertiary hospitals. Method: This study is a cross-sectional analysis using the data of 25,623 deliveries in 2009 drawn from homepage of Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service. Data were analyzed with t-test, F-test, Scheff$\acute{e}$ test, and logistic regression. Result: There were statistically significant differences in the gap of cesarean section rate (more gap indicates higher quality of delivery) by grade of nurse staffing and delivery cases. Hospitals with nurse staffing grade 1 to 2 had more possibility to be classified into higher grade in quality of delivery (OR 5.67, 95% CI 1.07-30.08). Also hospitals with over 500 delivery cases had more possibility be classified into higher grade in quality of delivery (OR 4.92, 95% CI 1.14-21.23, respectively). Conclusion: The finding suggests that grade of nurse staffing may influence the real cesarean section rate because nurses do a vital role to prevent unnecessary cesarean section. Further study is required to provide evidence that nurse staffing influence on patient outcome and cost-effectiveness in order to obtain adequate number of nursing staffs.

  • This study was formed to propose a theoretical background trying to create a positive delivery experience by understanding college women's subjective accounts (their view and attitude) on delivery. Method: Q- methodology was used to appreciate the highly abstract concept in an objective manner, since delivery can be assessed differently with each experience. Result: There were three types of opinions about the delivery in college women. The first type (matured type) understood delivery to be a precious experience that enables women to gain the value of life through labor pain, and granted then more appreciation to their own mothers. The second type (will type) recognizes delivery as an option rather than an obligation for women. They think women chooses whether or not to experience the process, especially since delivery requires a great deal of responsibility. The third type (positive type) takes delivery as a valuable, worthwhile, and marvelous process that they wish to experience. They are not even afraid of giving birth multiple times. Conclusion: The study explains and allows us to understand college women's overall opinion and attitudes about delivery. Thus this study aids the seizure of an opportunity to build a theoretical base for delivery management.

  • Purpose: The study was done to examine the effects of San- Yin-Jiao(SP6) acupressure treatment on subjective labor pain, length of delivery time in women during labor. Method: The study design was a randomized controlled clinical trial study using a double-blinded method. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire, a subjective labor pain scale and measurement of delivery time. The experimental group(n=29) was received SP6 acupressure and control group(n=29), SP6 touch for the duration of each uterine contraction, during 30 minutes after 3cm dilatation of cervical os. Result: The subjective labor pain scores was significantly different between the two groups(p=0.042). The total length of delivery time in the group which had the SP6 acupressure was shorter than SP6 touch group (p=0.036). Conclusion: These findings showed that SP6 acupressure was effective related to labor pain, length of time for delivery. SP6 acupressure during labor could be applied as an effective nursing treatment.
