지연발육 상악 소구치의 맹출 유도 (ERUPTION GUIDANCE OF MAXILLARY PREMOLARS WITH DELAYED DEVELOPMENT)

  • Premolars show the greatest variation in development and eruption. The present case report identified characteristics of eruption of maxillary premolars with delayed development. Multiple maxillary premolars with delayed development were found to have a palatal ectopic eruption pattern, which was self-corrected through eruption guidance by extraction of preceding primary teeth at the stage of root development when eruption force was maximal. In addition, delayed eruption due to delayed development was substantially improved by eruption guidance. Early erupted premolars with less than 1/3 of root development were induced to have normal root development using stabilizing appliance. The maxillary premolars with delayed development reported in the present study showed no complications such as impaction, space loss by delayed eruption, or insufficient root development.

행지(行遲)로 진단된 하지부 운동발달지연 환아의 치험 1례 보고 (A Patient with Lower Limbs' Delayed Motor Development was Demonstrated Hang-ji : A Case Report)

  • Objectives This is the clinical report about 1 case of patient with delayed motor development in lower limbs. Methods The herb medication, acupuncture therapies were applied for treating delayed motor development from June 9 to November 20, 2007. Results After 5 months treatment, the patient's delayed motor development were improved by oriental medical therapy. Conclusions We report the good results of oriental medical therapy on a pediatric patient with delayed lower limbs motor development. For more accurate studies, further studies would be needed with more cases.

인삼사포닌이 몰핀의 급만성 내성 형성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Ginseng Total Saponlns on the Development of Acute and Delayed Types Tolerance to Morphine)

  • Naloxone partially antagonized the analgesic effect of a large dose of morphine and inhibited the development of an acute type tolerance. Ginseng total saponins did not antagonize the analgesia of a large dose of morphine but inhibited the delrelopment of acute and delayed types tolerance. The morphine analgesia and the development of acute type tolerance were affected by the opioid receptor antagonist, naloxone, but the development of acute type tolerance was not. Ginseng total saponins partially inhibited the development of the delayed type tolerance that was not inhibited by naloxone, but also partially suppressed the development of the acute type tolerance that was completely inhibited by naloxone. These results imply that the partial inhibition of the development of the acute and delayed types tolerance by ginseng total saponins is not mediated by the opioid receptors.

중증 뇌손상 환자에서 뇌동정맥 산소함유량차이와 지연성 뇌경색 발생과의 관계 (Relationship between Cerebral Arteriovenous Oxygen Difference and Development of Delayed Cerebral Infarction in Patients with Severe Head Injury)

  • Objective : This study was performed to evaluate the relationships among intracranial pressure(ICP), cerebral perfusion pressure(CPP), and cerebral arteriovenous oxygen difference($AVDO_2$) which were used as parameters of adequacy of cerebral blood flow to support cerebral metabolism after severe head injury and also to examine the association between delayed cerebral infarction and outcome. Material and Method : The authors studied the ICP, CPP and $AVDO_2$ before and after treatment on 34 head-injured patients from June 1996 to December 1997 and examined the association with the change of an ICP, CPP and $AVDO_2$ following treatment and the development of delayed cerebral infarction. Sixteen patients underwent craniotomy for hematoma evacuation and eighteen patients received mannitol to decrease ICP. Results : The development of delayed cerebral infarction was demonstrated in 3(42.9%) out of 7 patients in no improvement group and 13(48.1%) out of 27 patients in improvement group with an increased ICP following treatment. Also, the development of delayed cerebral infarction was demonstrated in 8(50%) out of 16 patients in no improvement group and 8(44.4%) out of 18 patients in improvement group with a decreased CPP following treatment. The association with changes of ICP and CPP following treatment and development of delayed cerebral infarction was not statistically significant(p>0.01). However, 11(78.6%) out of 14 patients who demonstrated an increase in $AVDO_2$ and 5(25%) out of 20 patients who demonstrated a decrease in $AVDO_2$ following treatment developed delayed cerebral infarction. No improvement(reduction) in $AVDO_2$ following treatment was significantly associated with the development of delayed cerebral infarction(p<0.01). All of 16 patients with delayed cerebral infarction showed poor prognosis. Conlcusion : The change of $AVDO_2$ rather than those of ICP and CPP was considered more important factor for the development of the delayed cerebral infarction and poor outcome.

제1대구치 지연 발육의 임상 양상 및 선천성 결손치와의 연관성 (Clinical Features and Correlation With Congenital Missing Teeth of Delayed First Permanent Molar)

  • 국소적, 전신적 요인을 동반하지 않는 제1대구치의 맹출 지연은 해당 치아의 발육 지연을 동반한다. 본 연구의 목적은 제1대구치의 발육지연의 임상적 양상 및 동반하는 다른 치아의 발달 이상에 관하여 고찰하는 것이다. 국소적 요인이 없이 제1대구치 맹출 지연을 보이는 건강한 어린이 40명의 파노라마방사선 사진 분석을 시행하였다. 2명의 평가자가 Nolla 방법을 이용하여 해당 치아의 발육지연 여부, 해당 분악의 제2대구치 발육 이상 여부 및 제3대구치를 제외한 다른 치아의 선천적 결손 여부에 관하여 조사하였다. 제1대구치의 발육지연은 상악에서 호발하였고, 여성에게서 양측성 이환, 남성에게서 편측성 이환이 많이 관찰되었다. 제1대구치의 발육지연이 있는 환아는 유의하게 높은 선천적 결손치의 유병률을 보였으며, 이환된 분악의 제2대구치는 모두 발육 지연 혹은 선천적 결손의 이상을 보였다. 본 연구결과 제1대구치의 발육지연은 다른 치아의 선천적 결손과 밀접한 연관이 있는 것으로 나타났다.

시간지연을 고려한 간접 되먹임 구조 칼만필터의 수치안정성 향상 기법 (Numerical Stability Improvement Technique for Indirect Feedback Kalman Filter in Delayed-Measurement Systems)

  • Most of weapon systems use aided navigation system which integrates inertial navigation and aiding sensors to compensate the INS errors increasing with the passage of time. Various aid sensors can be applied such as Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), radar, barometer, etc., but there might exist time delay caused by signal processing or transferring aid information. This time delay leads out-of-sequence measurements (OOSM) systems. Previously, optimal and suboptimal measurment update method for OOSM systems, where the time delay length are known, are proposed. However, previous algorithm does not guarantee the positive definite property of covariance matrix. In order to improve numerical stability for aided navigation using delayed-measurement, this paper proposes a new measurement covariance update algorithm be similar to Joseph-form in Kalman filter. Futhermore, we propose how to implement it in indirect feedback Kalman filter structure, which is commonly used in aided navigation systems, for time-delayed measurement systems. Simulation and vehicle test results show effectiveness of a proposed algorithm.

제1대구치 맹출 지연의 유형에 따른 특징 분석 (Analysis of the Characteristics of First Permanent Molars with Delayed Eruption)

  • 제1대구치는 악안면 부위의 발달과 교합에 중요한 기능을 갖는다. 이번 연구의 목적은 맹출 지연된 제1대구치의 유형에 따른 특징에 대해 조사하고 치아의 발육 상태 및 선천적 결손과의 연관성에 대해 알아보고자 하는 것이다. 맹출 지연된 제1대구치를 가진 만 8세 환자를 물리적 장애가 있는 75명과 없는 77명으로 구분하였다. 파노라마 방사선 사진에서 맹출 지연된 영역의 제1대구치 및 제2대구치의 발육 상태를 Nolla 방법을 이용하여 분석하였다. 선천적 결손과 제1대구치 맹출 지연 영역과의 연관성도 알아보았다. 제1대구치 맹출 지연은 상악 단독으로 많이 존재했다. 물리적 장애로 인한 맹출 지연은 남자에서 편측성으로 많이 나타났고, 물리적 장애가 없는 경우에는 여자에서 양측성으로 더 많이 나타났다. 맹출 지연된 제1대구치에서 발육 지연이 나타났고, 물리적 장애가 없는 경우에는 인접한 제2대구치의 발육 지연과 해당 영역의 높은 선천적 결손치 비율을 보였다. 제1대구치의 맹출 지연이 관찰된다면, 치아의 발육 상태와 선천적 결손치에 대한 주기적인 임상적, 방사선학적 평가가 필요할 것이다.

Delayed Cranial Nerve Palsy after Microvascular Decompression for Hemifacial Spasm

  • Objective : Microvascular decompression (MVD) for hemifacial spasm (HFS) is a safe and effective treatment with favorable outcomes. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the incidence of delayed cranirve (VI, VII, and VIII) palsy following MVD and its clinical courses. Methods : Between January 1998 and December 2009, 1354 patients underwent MVD for HFS at our institution. Of them, 100 patients (7.4%) experienced delayed facial palsy (DFP), one developed sixth nerve palsy, and one patient had delayed hearing loss. Results : DFP occurred between postoperative day number 2 and 23 (average 11 days). Ninety-two patients (92%) completely recovered; however, House-Brackmann grade II facial weakness remained in eight other patients (8%). The time to recovery averaged 64 days (range, 16 days to 9 months). Delayed isolated sixth nerve palsy recovered spontaneously without any medical or surgical treatment after 8 weeks, while delayed hearing loss did not improve. Conclusion : Delayed cranial nerve (VI, VII, and VIII) palsies can occur following uncomplicated MVD for HFS. DFP is not an unusual complication after MVD, and prognosis is fairly good. Delayed sixth nerve palsy and delayed hearing loss are extremely rare complications after MVD for HFS. We should consider the possibility of development of these complications during the follow up for MVD.

Effects of Delayed Pollination on Kernel Development in Corn

  • Receptivity of corn silk to pollen decreases with time. For effective pollination, it is important to study the receptivity of corn silks in relation to time elapsed after their emergence. Two commercial corn hybrids, 'Kwanganog' and 'Suwon 19', were tested for their silk growth and effects of delayed pollination on kernel development for 1 to 13 days after emergence of the first silk. Silks elongated rapidly for the first 3 days and then gradually decreased. Silks grew more than 30mm per day for the first 3 days and stopped growing on the 11 or 12th day after emergence of the first silk. Filled ear length decreased slowly for the first 8 days, and then decreased rapidly. Similar trends were observed for number of kernel rows and number of kernels per row or ear. The highest numbers of kernels per row or ear were observed when plants were pollinated 2-4 days after silking. These numbers decreased gradually up to 8 days, and then decreased sharply. This result indicates that 8 day-delayed pollination has no influence on kernel development. There were negative correlations between silk length and ear characteristics except kernel weight. Silk growth rate was positively correlated with filled ear length, row number, and kernel number. It might be assumed that delayed pollination by one week after the first silk emerged would not affect on kernel set.

Effect of Delayed Sowing on Growth, Flowering Date, and Yield in Sesame

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the decreased ratio of growth and yield by delayed seeding and flowering because drought of spring season often cause to delay seeding and sprout emergence. Equation of linear regression, y=-11.914x+818.61 ($R^2$=0.916) and y=-16.96lx+913.98 ($R^2$=-0.885) were derived from relationship between sowing date and yield of leading variety, Yangbaeckkae in 1999 and 2000, respectively. Yield was decreased by 7, 24, 40, 57, 74%, respectively, according as sowing date was delayed more 5, 15, 26, 36, 46 days than May 15, standard sowing date under the culture mulched with black P.E. film. Number of capsules per plant and length of stem bearing capsule were greatly decreased, while plant height, stem diameter, and day to flowering were affected little by delayed seeding date. Equation of linear regression, y=-0.7081x+41.04 ($R^2$=0.861) was derived from relationship between flowering date and yield of 33 accessions. Yield was decreased by 7.7, 8.3, 9.2, 10.1, 11.2%, respectively, according as flowering date was delayed more 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 days than July 3, normal flowering date of Yangbaeckkae when it was sown on May 15, and the more flowering date was delayed, the more yield was decreased. Number of capsules per plant and length of stem bearing capsules were greatly decreased, but plant height and harvest index were decreased little by delay of flowering date
