Organic additive effects in physical and electrical properties of electroplated Cu thin film

  • Cu has been used for metallic interconnects in ULSI applications because of its lower resistivity according to the scaling down of semiconductor devices. The resistivity of Cu lines will affect the RC delay and will limit signal propagation in integrated circuits. In this study, we investigated the characteristics of electroplated Cu films according to the variation of concentration of organic additives. The plating electrolyte composed of $CuSO_4{\cdot}5H_2O$, $H_2SO_4$ and HCl, was fixed. The sheet resistance was measured with a four-point probe and the material properties were investigated with XRD (X-ray Diffraction), AFM (Atomic Force Microscope), FE-SEM (Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope) and XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy). From these experimental results, we found that the organic additives play an important role in formation of Cu film with lower resistivity by EPD.

Extension of the Operating Speed for Vector-Controlled Induction Machine Drives in the Overmodulation Range

  • This paper proposes a novel current control scheme for vector-controlled induction machine (IM) drives in the overmodulation (OVM) range, with which the voltage utilization of the voltage-source inverter (VSI) can be maximized. In the OVM region, the original voltage reference is modified by changing its magnitude and angle, which causes the motor current to be distorted, resulting in a deterioration of the current control performance. To meet with this situation, the harmonic components in the feedback currents should be eliminated before being input to the PI current controllers. For this, a composite observer is applied to extract the fundamental and harmonic components from the distorted currents, which gives a good performance without a delay and the effect of a fundamental frequency variation. In addition, through a detailed analysis of the response of the PI current controllers in the OVM range, the effectiveness of using the composite observer is demonstrated. Simulation and experimental results for a 3-kW induction motor drive are shown to verify the validity of the proposed method.

Control Method for Reducing the THD of Grid Current of Three-Phase Grid-Connected Inverters Under Distorted Grid Voltages

  • This paper proposes a control method for reducing the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the grid current of three-phase grid-connected inverter systems when the grid voltage is distorted. The THD of the grid current caused by grid voltage harmonics is derived by considering the phase delay and magnitude attenuation due to the hardware low-pass filter (LPF). The Cauchy-Schwarz inequality theory is used in order to search more easily for the minimum point of the THD. Both the gain and angle of the compensation voltage at the minimum point of the THD of the grid current are derived with the variation of cut-off frequencies of the hardware LPF. Simulation and experimental results show the validity of the proposed control methods.

  • 기존 TCP Reno 의 혼잡 제어는 트래픽에 수동적으로 동작하는 방법으로서 혼잡이 이미 발생한 상태에서 동작하게 되므로 발생 시점의 라우터 버퍼는 이미 최대치에 도달해 있게 된다. 따라서 이후에 도착하는 모든 패킷은 폐기되므로 이 패킷들을 전송한 모든 송신원은 거의 동시에 윈도우 크기를 줄이는 Slow-start 단계에 들어가게 되어 일시적으로 링크 사용률이 떨어지는 전역 동기화(global synchronization)가 발생하게 된다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 네트워크의 혼잡이 발생하기 전에 능동적으로 대처하는 방안이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 새로운 RTT 계산 알고리즘인 순방향/역방향 전송지연 알고리즘을 이용하여 네트워크의 혼잡을 미리 예측하고 네트워크 혼잡에 능동적으로 대처할 수 있는 새로운 알고리즘을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 리눅스(Linux) 커널(Kernel)의 TCP Reno 의 흐름제어 및 혼잡제어를 수정하여 네트워크 혼잡에 능동적으로 대처 할 수 있는 새로운 TCP Reno 를 설계, 구현하였다.

  • TCP 구현의 하나인 Vegas는 패킷의 유실을 망의 혼잡으로 인지하는 Reno와 달리 RTT(Round Trip Time) 측정값을 바탕으로 혼잡을 인지하며 윈도우 크기 등 혼잡 제어를 위한 주요 인자를 결정한다. TCP Vegas는 TCP Reno보다 더 효율적인 네트워크 대역폭과 처리율을 가진다. 그러나 Vegas의 혼잡 회피 방안이 TCP 패킷 경로의 비대칭적 특성을 제대로 반영하지 못하며, 이것은 양방향(순방향,역방향) 패킷 전송 상태를 반영하는 RTT 측정값을 순방향 경로의 상태 해석에 이용하기 때문이다. RTT는 패킷의 왕복 시간만을 측정하기 때문에 패킷의 송수신시 순방향과 역방향에서 어느 정도의 혼잡이 발생하였는지 알 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 리눅스 커널의 TCP 소스에서 RTT 측정값으로 혼잡도를 측정하는 기존의 Vegas 혼잡 제어 알고리즘을 수정하여 순방향 경로의 혼잡과 역방향 경로의 혼잡을 구별할 수 있는 새로운 Vegas 혼잡 제어 알고리즘을 설계하고 구현하여 그 성능을 분석하였다.

  • An iterative sliding mode observer is proposed to sensorless control of a PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor). The proposed sliding mode observer has the character which is robust to the disturbance and parameters variation. A low pass filter with the variable cut-off frequency is also proposed to compensate the delay of the rotor angle according to the rotor speed, it is led to save memory and minimize operation time. Experimental results show that the proposed sliding mode observer leads to the proper performance.

  • The direct drive servo valve(DDV) is composed of a DC rotor, link, valve spool and displacement sensor(LVDT) where the spool is directly coupled to the DC motor through the link. Since the DDV is a kind of one-stage valve, the robust controller is required to overcome the flow force effect on the spool motion. The mathematical equations are derived and the stability, accuracy and response speed of a DDV are investigated analytically using a linearized system block diagram. Proportional control, PID control. Time-Delay control, Sliding Mode control, and Proportional control using the load pressure are applied to DDV to find which one shows the best control performance. The digital computer simulation results show that the proportional control using the load pressure satisfies the design requirement of response speed and steady state error regardless of the variation of load pressure,

교통대응 신호제어 시스템의 효율성 평가 (The Assessment of TRACS(Traffic Adaptive Control System))

  • This paper addresses the outlines of the traffic signal timing principles engaged in TRACS and the results of field test. Research team, encompassing research institute, university, and electronic company, conducted the three-year project for developing the new system, named TRACS(Traffic Adaptive Control System). The project was successfully completed in 1994. TRACS aims at accomplishing the objectives of better traffic adaptability and more reliable travel time prediction. TRACS operates in real-time adjusting signal timings throughout the system in response to variations in traffic demand and system capacity. The purpose of TRACS is to control traffic on an area basis rather than on an isolated intersection basis. An other purpose of TRACS is to provide real-time road traffic information such as volume, speed, delay , travel time, and so on. The performance of the first version of TRACS was compared to the conventional TOD control through field test. The test result was promi ing in that TRACS consistantly outperformed the conventional control method. The change of signaltiming reacted timely to the variation of traffic demand. Extensive operational test of TRACS will be conducted this year, and some functions will be enhanced.

  • CSMA/CA를 기반으로 하는 IEEE 802.11 무선랜의 MAC에서는 데이터 전송을 제어하기 위한 방법으로 DCF와 PCF를 사용한다. CSMA/CA는 스테이션간의 충돌을 줄이기 위해서 임의의 백오프 시간을 각 스테이션의 경쟁윈도우(Contention Window) 범위에서 결정한다. 스테이션은 패킷 전송 후 충돌이 발생하면, 윈도우 크기를 두 배로 증가시키며, 패킷을 성공적으로 전송하면 윈도우 크기를 최소 경쟁 윈도우(Minimum Contention Window)로 감소한다. DCF는 경쟁 스테이션이 적은 상황에서는 비교적 우수한 성능을 보이나 경쟁 스테이션의 수가 많은 경우 처리율, 패킷지연 관점에서 성능이 저하되는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.11 MAC 계층 DCF 방식에서 최소 경쟁 윈도우의 값이 포화수율 및 패킷지연에 미치는 영향을 시뮬레이션에 의해 분석한다.

MSAS 전리층 보정정보 및 적도변이에 의한 영향 분석 (Analysis of MSAS Ionosphere Correction Messages and the Effect of Equatorial Anomaly)

  • Japanese MSAS (Multi-functional Satellite Augmentation System) satellites have been transmitting GPS satellite orbit and ionosphere correction information since 2005. MSAS coverage includes Far East Asia, and it can improve the accuracy and integrity of GPS position solutions in Korea. This research analyzed the ionosphere correction information from the MSAS ionosphere correction data. The ionosphere delay data observed by a dual frequency receiver is compared with the MSAS ionosphere correction data. The variation of MSAS GIVE values are analyzed in connection with the equatorial anomaly and ionosphere scintillation.
