  • For increasing power of photovoltaic systems, serial and parallel connection needed. In parallel connection, a desirable characteristic of parallel-connected supply system is that individual converters share the load current equally and stably. The current sharing(CS) can be implemented using two approaches. The first one, known as a Droop method, and the other is Active current-sharing. In Droop method, current distribution characteristics relies on the high output impedance of each converter. This scheme is more simple and no need interconnections. but also has a disadvantages of degrading current sharing characteristics. In this paper, using droop method at multiful-parallel connection with it's convenience and simplicity.

  • Transparent dielectric layer having color-filter function in front panel for PDP(Plasma Display Panel) was successfully fabricated and characterized. Transparent dielectric layer in front panel was made of glass based on $PbO-SiO_2-B_2O_3$ ternary system. The change of properties with content variation of oxide colorants in transparent dielectric layer having color-filter function was systematically accessed. It was demonstrated that the optimized content of oxide colorants to parent glass could greatly increase up contrast ratio and color temperature without significantly degrading luminance.

  • The reductive dechlorination of chlorinated organic compounds by soil minerals in soil and groundwater were carried out in this study. FeS, green rust, and magnetite were chosen as the representative soil minerals which were capable of degrading chlorinated compound in soil system. FeS was the most effective reductant in degradation of carbon tetrachloride. The reductive degradation of CT and 1,1,1-TCA by FeS was much faster than that of 1,2-DCB and 2,4-DCP. The reactivity of FeS was effectively improved by the addition of trace metals. The addition of Co to FeS suspension enhanced the reaction rate of 1,2-DCB by a factor of 46 compared to that by FeS without Co.

  • I propose adding users’Media Access Control (MAC) addresses to standard X.509 certificates to provide more secure authentication. The MAC address can be added by the issuing Certification Authority (CA) to the "extensions" section of the X.509 certificate. I demonstrate that when two users with MAC address information on their digital certificates communicate, the MAC address on the first user’s certificate can be easily verified by the second user. In this way, security can be improved without markedly degrading system performance and the level of initial trust between participants in virtual communities will be improved.

  • In this paper, we apply a digital modulation scheme called Multi-Carrier CDMA (MC-CDMA) to the technique for cochannel interference cancellation using reference correlator, previously proposed. The cancellatoin method will be effective for reducing the interference components which are other users'signal components in a common channel, but fading effect of channel remains as the degrading factor of channel condition. For compensating it, MC-CDMA scheme is introduced to combat agianst the multipath fading. We analize above system and derive the average probability of error in AWGN and Rayleigh fading environment.

  • In pumped storage Generator-motor stator windings gradually deteriorates due to mechanist, thermal, electrical stresses. These stresses combine to result in loose windings, delamination of the stator insulation and/or electrical tracking of the endwinding, all of which can lead to stator insulation failures. Since the degration of generator-motor is gradually occurred, regular inspection system is necessary to monitor degrading. The result of this diagnosis is a basic for the maintxnance of generator-motor.

  • Seven kinds of hysteric model were used and classified three groups considering the absorbing capacities of strain energy for each model. Four kids of each model. Four kinds of strong motion earthquake record (two of them were recorded in Japan and the others in U.S.A) are used. The yield strength of building was set in the ratio to the maximum input acceleration (Yield Strength / Maximum Acceleration = 0.5~3.0). Natural periods of structures were varied 0.1~3.0 second with an interval of 0.1 second. First group : Elastic-Plastic model, Ramberg-Osgood model Second group : Degrading Tri-liner model, Takeda model Third group : Slip model, Origin model, Max-D model Elastic-plastic response spectra were calculated for response velocities, displacement, energy input, ductility factors, accumulated ductility factors. The equivalent response values of M.D.O.F systems against S.D.O.F system were calculated to compare the relationship of two systems.

Earthquake Damage Monitoring for Underground Structures Based Damage Detection Techniques

  • Urban railway systems are located under populated areas and are mostly constructed for underground structures which demand high standards of structural safety. However, the damage progression of underground structures is hard to evaluate and damaged underground structures may not effectively stand against successive earthquakes. This study attempts to examine initial damage-stage and to access structural damage condition of the ground structures using Earthquake Damage Monitoring (EDM) system. For actual underground structure, vulnerable damaged member of Ulchiro-3ga station is chosen by finite element analysis using applied artificial earthquake load, and then damage pattern and history of damaged members is obtained from measured acceleration data introduced unsupervised learning recognition. The result showed damage index obtained by damage scenario establishment using acceleration response of selected vulnerable members is useful. Initial damage state is detected for selected vulnerable member according to established damage scenario. Stiffness degrading ratio is increasing whereas the value of reliability interval is decreasing.

  • Putative genes for a two-component signal transduction system (akbS and akbT) were detected near the alkylbenzene-degrading operon of Rhodococcus sp. DK17. Sequence analysis indicates that AkbS possesses potential ATP-binding and histidine autophosphorylation sites in the N- and C-terminal regions, respectively, and that AkbT has a typical response regulator domain. Mutant analysis combined with RT-PCR experiments further shows that AkbS is required to induce the expression of o-xylene dioxygenase in DK17.

Application of the genetically engineered strains of pseudomonas degrading various persistent aromatic hydrocarbons to wastewater (다양한 난분해성 방향족 탄화수소를 분해하는 pseudomonas 개발균주의 폐수에의 적용)

  • Genetically engineered strains of Pseudomonas, which could degrade the various aromatic hydrocarbons, were acclimated to the synthetic wastewater with increasing substrate concentration. All of the tested strains except KUD101 showed 70-90% of the COD removal efficiencies. Acclimated strains, Pseudomonas putida KUD106, KUD107 and KUD108 were inoculated into the ordinary activated sludge and these sludges were used in the dyeing or alkylbenzene wastewater treatment system. In the case of the wastewater containing alkylbenzene compounds, COD removal efficiency was 12-14% higher than that of the ordinary activated sludge, while it was not effective for dyeing wastewater. On the other hand, the floc formation of the activated sludge inoculated with genetically engineered strains was more rapid in both wastewaters tested than that of the activated sludge by the ordinary natural strains.
