금형 변형을 고려한 자동차용 펜더 패널 성형해석 (Forming Analysis for Automotive Fender Panel Considering Die Deformation)

  • In order to see the effect of die deformation on the forming of sheet metal, the draw-ins, strains, and springbacks of an automotive fender panels are numerically simulated considering the die deformation found by the simultaneous structural analysis of press and dies. The comparison of the forming analysis result between the rigid die and the deformed die layout shows that the deformed tool provides more accurate forming and springback result.

냉간 단조용 금형의 탄성 변형에 관한 실험 및 이론적 연구 (A Study on the Experimental and Theoretical Analysis About the Elastic Deflections of Die for Cold Forging)

  • The elastic deflections of the cold forging die influence the dimensional accuracy of forged parts. The die dimension is continuously changed during the loading, unloading, and ejecting stage. In this paper, we evaluated the elastic deflections of cold forging die during the loading, unloding and ejecting stage with experimental and FEM analysis. Uni-axial strain gages are used to measure elastic strain of die during each forging stage. Strain gages are attached un the upper surface of die. A commercial F.E.M. code, DEFORM$-2D^{TM}$ is used to predict the elastic strains of die, to be compared those by experiments. Two modelling approaches are used to define the reasonable analysis method. The first of the two modelling approaches is to regard the die as rigid body over forging cycle. And then, the die stress is analyzed by loading the die with pressure from the deformed part. The other is to regard the die as elastic body from forging cycle. The elastic strain of tool is calculated and the tool is elastically deformed at each strep. The calculated results under the elastic die assumption are well agreed wish experimental data using the strain gages.

  • The Finite Element Method is applied to the determination of the deformed bulge profile and strain distribution during upset forming of cylindrical billets. From the results of simulation, the bulging along the z-axis becomes more severe with increasing eight reduction, and with increasing friction at the die-material interface. The present method can be used for the simple prediction of the deformed shape and strain distribution in upset forging of cylindrical billets with dissimilar fictional conditions at the die-material interfaces.

  • In this paper, The optimum design of a die shape has been carried out the FEM analysis of a pilger mill process considering various factors. The pilger mill forming process consists of a pair of rotating die which has appropriate surface shape. The important design parameters of the pilger mill are the feed rate and the profile of grooved die. Optimum design procedure was performed in order to investigated effects on the forming load and the deformed shape of material depending on the die radius profile. Profile of the die surface for the optimum design were suggested with the linear, the cosine and the quadratic curve considering a physical forming process. The surface of each die was modeled using the 3DAutoCAD and the analysis of pilger forming process was performed using the LS-DYNA3D. The optimum profile of the die shape for the pilger mill was determined to the quadratic profile. Since the analysis results provide that the model of the quadratic profile gives the lowest forming load and a proper deformed shape.

  • This study investigates EAD/EAM system & component technology in die making for automobile, An assessment has been proceeded so that stamping car panel can be designed and manufactured efficiently. Also a method of measuring surface strains in a deformed three dimensional part has been analyzed which computes surface strains for the entire area under the view instead of determining surface strains from deformed circles one a time. For the technicians sutomated strain measurement system has the potential to become a powerful tool for successful press-die design and making. The obtained results will lead to the reductions in lead time and man-hour required for the design and manufacture of the stamping dies.

  • Structural analysis of horizontal cold chamber die casting machine is performed by the FEM. The analyzed model is made up of stationary die platen,movable die platen,link housing platen, C-frame, and tie bar which mainly undertake die locking force and injection force. In modeling, compression gap elements are used for to simulate contacting condition between tie bar and movable die platen, movable die platen and base frame, and link housing and base frame. Unbalanced die locking force imposed on four tie bars are considered. As the results, the deformed shape and the stresses of the die casting machine are given.

  • In order to see the effect of die deformation on the forming analysis of sheet metals, the draw-ins, strains, and spring-backs of an automotive fender panels are numerically simulated by considering the die deformation found by the simultaneous structural analysis of press and dies. By coupling the forming analysis and the structural analysis, the die deformation is simultaneously taken into account in the forming process. Furthermore, for the consideration of load difference transferred among the upper die, punch, and blank holder due to the changes in sheet thickness, the gap elements are employed instead of the blank sheet in the structural analysis. The numerical simulation results of an automotive finder draw panel are compared with the measurements. The comparison of the forming and spring-back analysis results between the rigid die and the deformed die shows that the consideration of tool deformation can predict more accurately the forming and spring-back of sheet metals.

금형가공방법이 합금공구강 표면에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Die Machining Method on the Surface of Die Steel STD11)

  • 본 논문은 합금공구강을 기계 가공한 시편과 와이어 컷 방전가공한 시편의 가공면 표면 특성을 비교 분석한 것이다. 와이어 컷 방전가공으로 금형을 제작하면 기계가공으로 가공하기 어려운 형상의 제품을 쉽게 제작할 수 있다. 그러나 기계가공으로 제작된 금형에 비해 수명이 현저히 저하된다. 이러한 요인은 와이어 컷 방전가공으로 제작 된 금형 표면에 가공 변질층이 발생하기 때문이라 사료된다. 두 시편의 표면 거칠기 측정 결과 1차 와이어 컷 방전가공한 시편의 표면 거칠기 분포가 거칠음을 알 수 있었다. 주사 전자 현미경 관찰 결과 두 시편의 표면부와 단면부는 큰 차이를 보였고 와이어 컷 방전가공한 시편의 단면부는 표면의 급열 급랭된 조직이 가공 변질층으로 존재함을 알 수 있었다.

  • This paper has comparatively analyzed the characteristics of the machined surface of a specimen made by machining Die Steel STD11 and a specimen obtained by W-EDM steel. If a press die is manufactured through W-EDM, products of shapes that cannot easily be made through machining can be manufactured easily. However, the life of the press die is significantly reduced compared with the press die made through machining. This is believed to be caused by the deformed layer that has occurred on the surface of the press die that was made through W-EDM. The roughness of the 2 specimens was measured, and it was learned that the distribution of the roughness of the specimen made through the 1st W-EDM was rough.

  • In cold forging, the elastic behavior of the die has a direct influence on the accuracy of the forging part. And the die dimension is continuously changed during the loading, unloading, and ejecting stage. In this paper, we evaluated the elastic deflections of cold forging die during loading, unloading, and ejecting stage.
