Weight reduction is increasingly being considered very important in light of air pollution and the exhaustion of resources. As a result, many automotive components are being replaced by Al and Mg alloys, and studies are increasingly focusing on the same. However, the use of Mg alloys is limited because they have higher material cost and lower productivity owing to the difficult forming conditions compared with Al alloys. In this study, the tube extrusion process conditions of an automotive bumper back beam were analyzed using FEA. Material tests were performed to determine the properties, and experiments and analyses for a simple shape were performed to define the data for heat generation during plastic deformation. Then, the analyses of the product were carried out by considering various temperatures and ram speeds. The conditions were then established, and a product without surface defects was extruded successfully.
The 22%Cr-5%Ni-3%Mo duplex and 18%Cr-8%Ni austenitic stainless steels have been nitrogen permeated under the $1Kg/cm^2$ nitrogen gas atmosphere at the temperature range of $1050^{\circ}C{\sim}1150^{\circ}C$. The nitrogen-permeated duplex and austenitic stainless steels showed the gradual decrease in hardness with increasing depth below surface. The duplex stainless steel showed nitrogen pearlite at the outmost surface and austenite single phase in the center after nitrogen permeation treatment, while the obvious microstructural change was not observed for the nitrogen-permeated austenitic stainless steel. After solution annealing the nitrogen-permeated stainless steels(NPSA treatment) at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 10 hours, the hardness of the duplex and austenitic stainless steels was constant through the 2 mm thickness of the specimen, and the ${\alpha}+{\gamma}$ phase of duplex stainless steel changed to austenite single phase. Tensile strengths and elongations of the NPSA-treated duplex stainless steel remarkably increased compared to those of solution annealed (SA) duplex stainless steel due to the solution strengthening effect of nitrogen and the phase change from a mixture of ferrite and austenite to austenite single phase, while the NP-treated austenitic stainless steel displayed the lowest value in elongation due to inhomogeneous deformation by the hardness difference between surface and interior.

The sliding wear behaviors of Zircaloy-4 nuclear fuel rod were investigated using two support springs with convex and concave shapes in room temperature air and water. The main focus is to compare the wear behavior of various test variables such as slip amplitude, environment, contact contours with different spring shape and a number of cycles. The results indicated that wear volume and maximum wear depth increased with slip amplitude in both air and water, but their trends tended to change according to the spring shapes and test environments. In air condition, the wear volume was controlled by wear debris behavior generated on worn surface. As a result, final wear volume and maximum wear depth decreased if a ratio of protruded wear volume to worn area $(D_p)$ would be saturated to specific value. This is because wear particle layer could accommodate large strain by accumulating and transforming wear particle layer. However, in water condition, metal-to metal contact was more dominant and wear volume was greatly affected by changed mechanical behavior between contact surfaces since wear debris should be generated after repeated plastic deformation and fracture. After wear test, worn surfaces were examined using optical microscope and SEM and details of wear mechanism were discussed using a ratio of wear volume to worn area $(D_e)$ at each test condition.
Recently, there is a need to produce a large forged part for the flight, shipping, some energies, and military industries, etc. Therefore, an open die forging technique of cast ingots is required to obtain higher quality of large size forged parts. Cogging process is one of the primary stages in many open die forging processes. In the cogging process prior to some open die forging processes, internal cavities have to be eliminated for defect-free. The present work is concerned with the elimination of the internal cavities in large ingots so as to obtain sound products. In this study, hot compression tests were carried out to obtain the flow stress of cast microstructure at different temperature and strain rates. The FEM analysis is performed to investigate the overlap defect of cast ingots during cogging stage. The measured flow stress data were used to simulate the cogging process of cast ingot using the practical material properties. Also the analysis of cavity closure is performed by using the $DEFORM^{TM}-3D$. The calculated results of cavity closure behavior are compared with the measured results before and after cogging, which are scanned by the X-ray scanner. From this result, the criteria for deformation amounts effect on the cavity closure can be investigated by the comparison between practical experiment and numerical analysis.

Tensile and creep tests were performed at various temperatures to investigate the mechanical properties of plastics used in automotive instrument panels. Mechanical properties such as Young's modulus and Poisson's ratios changed markedly with the test temperature. Three-point bending creep tests were performed for three kinds of plastics under four loading conditions. Coefficients in the time-hardening power law creep equation were obtained from the experiment, and the creep behavior was represented by a simple expression. The results of finite element creep analysis showed good agreement with the experimental results, while the difference between the numerical and experimental results increased with the load.

Flexible inverters based on complementary thin-film transistor (CTFTs) are important because they have low power consumption and other advantages over single type TFT inverters. In addition, integrated CTFTs in flexible electronic circuits on low-cost, large area and mechanically flexible substrates have potentials in various applications such as radio-frequency identification tags (RFIDs), sensors, and backplanes for flexible displays. In this work, we introduce flexible complementary inverters using pentacene and amorphous indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO) for the p-channel and n-channel, respectively. The CTFTs were fabricated on polyimide (PI) substrate. Firstly, a thin poly-4-vinyl phenol (PVP) layer was spin coated on PI substrate to make a smooth surface with rms surface roughness of 0.3 nm, which was required to grow high quality IGZO layers. Then, Ni gate electrode was deposited on the PVP layer by e-beam evaporator. 400-nm-thick PVP and 20-nm-thick ALD Al2O3 dielectric was deposited in sequence as a double gate dielectric layer for high flexibility and low leakage current. Then, IGZO and pentacene semiconductor layers were deposited by rf sputter and thermal evaporator, respectively, using shadow masks. Finally, Al and Au source/drain electrodes of 70 nm were respectively deposited on each semiconductor layer using shadow masks by thermal evaporator. Basic electrical characteristics of individual transistors and the whole CTFTs were measured by a semiconductor parameter analyzer (HP4145B, Agilent Technologies) at room temperature in the dark. Performance of those devices then was measured under static and dynamic mechanical deformation. Effects of cyclic bending were also examined. The voltage transfer characteristics (Vout- Vin) and voltage gain (-dVout/dVin) of flexible inverter circuit were analyzed and the effects of mechanical bending will be discussed in detail.
Changes in intrumental and sensory Theological parameters of chewing gum during storage were stuided. Texture changes are influenced to the great extent by moisture content of stored chewing gum and D.E. of cornsyrup, meanwhile content of cornsyrup, process condition and storage temperature had a little effect on texture change. Highly significant correlation was observed between logarithmic instrumental texture parameters of deformation, bending and puncture test and logarithmic moisture content. And also good correlations were observed between each sensory and instrumental texture parameters. The optimum texture values were estimated by regression analysis.
The Yechon shear zone developed by strike-slip movement was formed in a relatively high temperature condition just after the Jurassic syntectonic granites had been emplaced during Daebo Orogeny. Post-emplacement formation of the shear zone is favored by continuity of foliations and lineations within and without the granites, development of mylonitic structures in the wallrocks, deformation of pegmatite and felsite dikes, and pretectonic growth of porphyroblasts in the wallrocks. A variety of shear sense indicators in the shear zone are predominantly observed in the intensely to extremely deformed rocks. They show that bulk non-coaxial detormation has occurred, and that the sense of shear is consistently dextral with S-C fabrics, grain shape fabrics, asymmetric porphyroclast systems, mica fish, asymmetric extension structures and quartz C-axis fabrics.
This study, to develop the technology of the fire resistance design of CFT structure based on fire resistance performance design, was suppose to use as basic data for performance design through a measure of temperature and deformation of the CFT specimen as parameter is the concrete compressive strength and load ratio. In accordance with KS F 2257-1 and 7, 24 MPa and 40 MPa and the load ratio of 0.9, 0.6 and 0.2 were imposed on a square column and as a result of evaluating in accordance with the fire resistance criteria, in case of 24 MPa, the fire resistance performance was improved by 73 minutes when the load ratio was reduced by 0.3. And when it comes to 40 MPa, the fire resistance was 31 minutes and 180 minutes when a load ratio was 0.6 and 0.2, respectively. As a result of evaluating fire resistant performance depending on variation of internal concrete strength, it proved that the higher the strength the lower the fire resistance.
Since the 1990s, the second generation of Zirconium alloys containing main alloy compositions of Nb, Sn and Fe have been used as a replacement of Zircaloy-4 (Zr-Sn-Fe-Cr), a first-generation Zirconium alloy, to meet severe and rigorous reactor operating conditions characterized by high-burn-up, high-power and high-pH operations. In this study, the mechanical properties and creep behaviors of Zr-Sn-Fe-Cr and Zr-Nb-Sn-Fe alloys were investigated in a temperature range of $450{\sim}500^{\circ}C$ and in a stress range of $80{\sim}150\;MPa$. The mechanical testing results indicate that the yield and tensile strengths of the Zr-Nb-Sn-Fe alloy are slightly higher compared to those of Zr-Sn-Fe-Cr. This can be explained by the second phase strengthening of the $\beta$-Nb precipitates. The creep test results indicate that the stress exponent for the steady-state creep rate decreases with the increase in the applied stress. However, the stress exponent of the Zr-Sn-Fe-Cr alloy is lower than that of the Zr-Nb-Sn-Fe alloy in a relatively high stress range, whereas the creep activation energy of the former is slightly higher than that of the latter. This can be explained by the dynamic deformation aging effect caused by the interaction of dislocations with Sn substitutional atoms. A higher Sn content leads to a lower stress exponent value and higher creep activation energy.
