A Study on the Stability Problems of the Latticed Domes (래티스돔의 안정문제에 관한 연구)

  • The primary objective of this paper is to grasp many characteristics of buckling behavior of latticed spherical domes under various conditions. The Arc-Length Method proposed by E.Riks is used for the computation and evaluation of geometrically nonlinear fundamental equilibrium paths and bifurcation points. And the direction of the path after the bifurcation point is decided by means of Hosono's concept. Three different nonlinear stiffness matrices of the Slope-Deflection Method are derived for the system with rigid nodes and results of the numerical analysis are examined in regard in geometrical parameters such as slenderness ratio, half-open angle, boundary conditions, and various loading types. But in case of analytical model 2 (rigid node), the post-buckling path could not be surveyed because of Newton-Raphson iteration process being diversed on the critical point since many eigenvalues become zero simultaneously.

Effect of Reynolds number on compressible convex-corner flows

  • An experimental study was conducted to investigate the effect of Reynolds number on compressible convex-corner flows, which correspond to an upper surface of a deflected flap of an aircraft wing. The flow is naturally developed along a flat plate with two different lengths, resulting in different incoming boundary layer thicknesses or Reynolds numbers. It is found that boundary layer Reynolds number, ranging from $8.04{\times}10^4$ to $1.63{\times}10^5$, has a minor influence on flow expansion and compression near the corner apex in the transonic flow regime, but not for the subsonic expansion flow. For shock-induced separated flow, higher peak pressure fluctuations are observed at smaller Reynolds number, corresponding to the excursion phenomena and the shorter region of shock-induced boundary layer separation. An explicit correlation of separation length with deflection angle is also presented.

Control of cambered web's lateral dynamics by a using steering guider (가이더를 이용한 Cambered Web의 사행거동 제어에 관한 연구)

  • It is almost impossible to have a straight web for processing in the continuous process systems. The cambered web usually causes the strip walking and damage during process. It is necessary to identify the lateral dynamics of the cambered web for the precise control of lateral behavior. In this paper, a dynamic model of the lateral behavior for a cambered web is developed by introducing the concept of steering angle equivalent to moment caused by the camber. This model can be extended to include terms associated with moment, induced by roller's tilting, web slippage, and shear force, etc. Using this model, a new feed-forward controller is proposed to enable the on-line camber estimation, which is difficult to be measured directly, and the prediction of lateral deflection caused by camber. Computer simulation study shows that the proposed controller successfully eliminates the effect of camber and has better control performance than that of the existing PID controller.

  • Wind tunnel test of an airplane model with forward swept wing was done in KARI LSWT to evaluate and measure the aerodynamic characteristics of initially designed configuration. Since the given wing planform did not fully satisfy the design requirements, local flow control devices such as vortilon, vortex generator and flow fence were used to delay separation and to enhance aerodynamic characteristics. Also decision making processes of design parameters such as vertical tail boom length, the location, size and the incidence angle of horizontal tail were discussed. The general aerodynamic characteristics of forward swept wing for various control surface deflection conditions of flap, aileron and elevator were also given.

  • In this paper, we implemented an angularly multiplexed volume holographic memory system using an AOD that is controlled electronically, with rapid access time(10$mutextrm{s}$) and accurate repeatability of the reference beam. First we designed an AOD-based angular multiplexing system without the frequency compensation of the object beam, and magnified the deflection angle of AOD through the combination of lens so that we increased the storage capacity up to six times. Finally fifty-one images were stored experimentally in a photorefractive material of 1㎤ Fe:LiNbO$_3$.

  • Microlensing can be seen as a version of strong gravitation lensing where the separation angle of the image formed by light deflection by a massive object is too small to be seen by a ground based optical telescope. As a result, what can be observed is the change in light intensity as function of time; the light curve. Conventionally, the intensity of the source is expressed in magnitudes, which uses a logarithmic function of the apparent flux, known as the Pogson formulae. In this work, we compare the magnitudes from the Pogson formulae with magnitudes from the Asinh formulae (Lupton et al. 1999). We found for small fluxes, Asinh magnitudes give smaller deviations, about 0.01 magnitudes smalller than Pogson magnitudes. This result is expected to give significant improvement in detection level of microlensing light curves.

A Study on Position control of a Flexible One-Link Robot Arm (유연한 단일축 로보트 팔의 위치제어)

  • In this paper, an output feedback is used to reduce the effect of the vibration in the control of a flexible one-link robot arm. A PD control method with a time varying gain is proposed to improve the performance of the system in tip deflection and settling time for the step reference input. By making the change of feedback gain smoothly, th input torque can be made smooth. When there is a payload with unknown mass, an interpolation method which uses the inrehgrated value of the transient response of the hub angle is proposed for the estimation of teh payload mass. This method can be used when the reference input is known and we can get highly accurate estimate for the unknown payload. It is also demonstrated that flexible one-link arm can be controlled prettry accurately by an output feedback in a noisy environment without knowing the mass of the payload.

동축류 이차유동 분사를 이용한 추력 벡터 제어 방법에서 코안다 플랩의 형상에 따른 작동 특성 연구

  • 유체역학적 추력 방향 제어(Fluidic Thrust Vector Control) 방법 중 하나인 동축류 제어 유동 분사를 이용한 추력 방향 제어(Co-flow Thrust Vector Control)의 작동 특성에 대해서 연구하였다. 이 제어 방법은 점성 유동이 벽면에 부착되어 흐르는 코안다 효과(Coanda Effect)를 이용하여 주 유동을 편향 시키는 방법으로서 그 편향각은 이러한 제어 유동 노즐 출구의 플랩 형상에 영향을 받는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이 연구에서는 출구 플랩 형상을 여러 가지로 바꾸어 가며 주 유동의 전압력 300kPa일 때 제어 유동의 편향각이 포화되는 제어유동의 전압력을 측정하였다. 그 결과 쐐기형 플랩의 각도가 증가할수록 포화 영역에서의 편향각은 증가하며 그 각은 플랩의 각도와 일치한다. 그러나 각도가 증가할수록 제어 유동이 플랩의 벽면을 지나면서 팽창파에 의해 가속되어 충격파을 발생시키게 되고 이 충격파는 주 유동에게까지 전파되어 주 유동 제트의 속도를 감소시킨다.

Design and fabrication of mirror for optical pick-up head (광기록장치의 pick-up 헤드용 미러의 설계 및 제작)

  • In this paper, electrostatic scanner mirror for optical pick-up head is designed and fabricated. The mirror size is $20{\mu}m{\times}2400{\mu}m{\times}2400{\mu}m$ and torsional beam size is $10{\mu}m{\times}20{\mu}m{\times}500{\mu}m$. Static deflection angle is calculated ${\pm}0.4$ degrees when the maximum driving voltage is 20 V. Silicon mirror was fabricated using KOH etching and deep RIE. For passivation of the patterned mirror from KOH solution, parylene thin film was used and its usefulness has been verified. Driving electrode was fabricated using UV LIGA process. Mirror and electrode were bonded.

  • The examined model consists of two substructures linked by a right angle rigid line joint. One element is a wall loaded externally along its upper edge by an uneven vertical load. The other element, defined as a plate, is not loaded. Stresses and displacements in the vicinity of the joint are analysed, considering the lateral distribution which leads to three-dimensional effects. The proposed solution combines classical approach with numerical means, using appropriate stress distribution polynomial functions along the joint. Space structure constructions supply cases of interest.
