Rickets is not the deposite of minerals in the skeletal tissue and the retardation of skeletal growth in growing in growing animals. This study was undertaken to investigate the histologic effects of experimental rickets on the dental structure of the albino rats, and to show the relationship between the histological effects and the pulpal disease which induced premature loss of the primary teeth. This study was based on material obtained from 40 white rats that were placed on a rachitogenic diet for a period 1 to 56 days after weaning (at 24 days). In addition, a study was made of 25 litter mates, 24 to 80 days, that were fed a normal diet. The following results were obtained: 1. Enamel formation and calcification showed no significant changes and no hypoplasia. 2. Dentin formation and calcification was retarded and disturbed. In the experimental group, predentin/calcified dentin was remarkablly increased. 3. Newly formed dentin showed interglobular texture (less homogenous calcification) and the predentin was significantly wider and thicker, and there was an irregular wave in the basal portion of the rat's incisors. 4. In cementum, Matrix formed at almost a normal rate but calcification was defective. So cementoid tissue was increasesd. 5. The formation of the alveolar bone was at almost a normal rate but calcification was retarded. The trabecular bone was filled with osteoid tissue and thicker than in normal groups.
According to the phase diagram, 6Bi2O3.GeO2 composition melts congruently at 93$0^{\circ}C$ and forms a stable ${\gamma}$-6Bi2O3.GeO2 crystal phase below the melting point. But when the melt of this composition was cooled at a rate 1-15$0^{\circ}C$/min without tapping by a glass rod or impurity addition, a metastable $\delta$-6Bi2O3.GeO2 crystal phase was formed. It is due to that as the nucleation energy barrier of $\delta$-6Bi2O3.GeO2 crystals, which have more open and defective structure, is lower than that of ${\gamma}$-6Bi2O3.GeO2 crystals. When impurities or ${\gamma}$-6Bi2O3.GeO2 crystals existed in the melt, stable ${\gamma}$-6Bi2O3.GeO2 crystal phase was formed at various cooling rate. It is because of that the impurities or the ${\gamma}$-6Bi2O3.GeO2 crystals role as a seed crystal and as a result the nucleation energy barrier of ${\gamma}$-6Bi2O3.GeO2 crystals is lowered.
Quality control in the smart factory manufacturing process is an important factor. Currently, quality inspection of home appliance manufacturing parts produced by the mold process is mostly performed with the naked eye of the operator, resulting in a high error rate of inspection. In order to improve the quality competition, an automatic defect detection system was designed and implemented. The proposed system acquires an image by photographing an object with a high-performance scan camera at a specific location, and reads defective products due to scratches, dents, and foreign substances according to the vision inspection algorithm. In this study, the depth-based branch decision algorithm (DBD) was developed to increase the recognition rate of defects due to scratches, and the accuracy was improved.
This study analyzes the impact of regular preventive maintenance (PM) on reducing the failure rate and occurrence of falling accidents of industrial overhead doors. A reliable safety device model with an additional safety device, which is installed to replace a defective one, is proposed. The research methodology involves collecting breakdown and falling accident records, comparing and analyzing data before and after regular PM implementation, and experimenting with two types of retrofittable safety devices. Key findings are as follows. 1. Regular PM implementation significantly reduces the failure rate of old overhead doors. 2. A parallel structured model with two alternative safety devices can minimize falling accident risks. The study's contributions include the following. 1. The positive impact of PM on extending overhead door lifespan is quantified. 2. A general safety device model that can be retrofitted and used as replacement with a fail-safe function is proposed.
Many workers in the garlic peeling factory are separating the sound peeled garlics from the unpeeled and defective ones in a manual way. In order to reduce the seasonal labor requirement and operating cost, the mechanized garlic sorting system such as the vision-based garlic sorter should be developed. This study was conducted as one of basic studies on developing quality evaluation technique for peeled garlics, especially to developed the system for acquiring the whole surface images of garlics with a CCD camera. The following results were obtained from this study. 1. The belt-type garlic rotation system was devised to apply for the vision-based garlic sorter and was tested to decide the criteria of design and optimum conveying speed. 2. To evaluate the performance of the developed garlic rotation system, feeding rate and rotating rate were measured under the conditions of four experimental factors such as the inclined angle of rotating belt, the inclined angle of feeding belt, the height of plate arrays on feeding belt and the conveying speed of belts. And the capacity of the system according to mixture ratios of peeled garlics and unpeeled garlics was analyzed as a feasibility test. 3. For the inclined angle of rotating belt 20°and height of plate array on feeding belt 22㎜, the maximum rotating rate for garlic samples including unpeeled ones was 81.1% at the conveying speed of 4.2 garlic/sec. And under these condition, the maximum feeding rate was 85% at the inclined angle of feeding belt 6.5°. 4. The capacity of the developed garlic rotation system was almost constant regardless of mixture ratio of peeled garlics and unpeeled garlics and its range was 2.95∼3.92 garlic/sec. At the conveying speed of 4.2 garlic/sec, the capacity of the garlic rotation system was calculated ad 58∼64 kg/hr. 5. To improve performance of the garlic rotation system, it is recommended to develop a device to slide garlics into feeding belt.
The textile industry in Korea, the dyeing sector is an energy-intensive sector and has low per-unit productivity due to its labor-intensive nature. If the defective rate of dyed fabrics is high, additional costs are incurred due to an increase in production cost due to re-dyeing. Therefore, the goal of the dyeing factory was to minimize the defect rate rather than to save energy. It was difficult to check the dyeing state of the fabric in real time due to the risk of accidents due to burns or pressure when dyeing in a high-temperature and high-pressure environment. In this paper, a complex sensor that can measure the exhaustion rate of dye solution in the dyeing machine using turbidity, pH, and conductivity sensors was proposed, and the experimental method and experimental results were analyzed.

In the domain of Korean weapon system development, issues about software reliability have become crucial factors when developing a weapon system. There is a process required for weapon system software development and management that includes certain activities required to improve the reliability of software. However, these activities are biased toward static and dynamic analyses of source code and do not include activities necessarily required by the international standard. IEEE std. 1633-2016 defines a process for software reliability engineering and describes software reliability estimation as an essential activity in the process. Software reliability estimation means that collecting defective data during the test and estimating software reliability by using the statistical model. Based on the estimated model, developers could estimate the failure rate and make comparisons with the objective failure rate to determine termination of the test. In this study, we collected defective data and applied reliability estimation models to analyze software reliability in the development of a weapon system. To achieve objective software reliability, we continuously tested our software and quantitatively calculated software reliability. Through the research, we hope that efforts to include activities described by the international standard will be carried out in the domain of Korean weapon system development.

Background and Objectives: The Herpes Simplex type 2 Defective Infectious Single Cycle virus (DISC virus) is attenuated virus originally produced as viral vaccines but are also efficient gene transfer vehicle. The main goals of this study were to examine the efficiencies of the gene transfer using DISC vectors for various head and neck squamous cell carcinoma cell lines and to evaluate the efficacy of vaccination with DISC virus carrying a immunomodulatory genes (GM-CSF) as cancer therapy in a organotopic oral cavity squamous cell cancer model. Materials and Methods : We determinated the gene transfer efficiency of DISC virus by x-gal stain method and proved gene and protein expression of DISC-GMCSF transfected SCCVII cells by RT-PCR and ELISA method. Also we evaluated the ex vivo vaccination effects of SCCVII/GMCSF (DISC-GMCSF transfected SCCVII vaccine) vaccine on preventing the recurrence of micro-residual tumor. After the vaccination of SCCVII/GMCSF, specific cytotoxic T-cell responses was evaluated by CTL assay. Results: At an MOI of 10 DISC virus showed 64-88% of transfection rates in various head and neck squamous cancer cell lines. SCCVII cells transduced by DISC virus vector (MOI=10) carrying the GM-CSF gene, produced 4.5 nanogram quantities of GM-CSF per $10^6$ cells. In vivo vaccination using tumor cells transduced ex vivo with DISC-GMCSF resulted in better protection rate against subsequent tumor recurrence in organotopic oral cavity cancer model. Although tumor free survival rate was not statistically significantly increased in vaccination group (p=0.078), tumor specific cytotocic T-cell responses were significantly increased in SCCVII/GMCSF vaccination group. Conclusion: These data demonstrate that; 1) The DISC virus vector is capable of efficient gene transfer to various head and neck squamous cancer cell lines, 2) GM-CSF secreting genetically modified tumor vaccine (SCCVII/GMCSF) efficiently protected against tumor recurrence in organotopic micro-residual oral cavity cancer model and produced tumor specific cytotoxic T-cell response. DISC virus-mediated, cytokine gene transfer may prove to be useful as a clinical therapy for head and neck cancers.
In this paper, we have developed the gantry automation system via information technology (IT) to improve the productivity of fuel filter manufacturing process. The monitoring system of manufacturing process plays an important role in analyzing the defective products as well as improving the production yield rate. The experimental results of 3 months with 10000 samples validate that the error rate is decreased from 0.65 % to 0.45 %. Also, the defect of raw material is decreased via monitoring of material tools which can notify the time for replacement and accurate insertion of raw materials to the loader. The productivity is increased by reducing the process time from 94.7 sec to 78.8 sec per raw material through comparing the whole manufacturing courses : from inserting of raw material to outcome of product. The process time is decreased by 20.2 % by automation of inserting and outcome course. Moreover, safety of worker as well as reduction of transfer time are highly related with increase of productivity.
Arthrodesis of the ankle joint is inevitable in the cases of severe arthrosis or defective bony structures around ankle joint. There have been many kinds of arthrodesis methods were introduced. In cases with failed athrodesis with previous arthrodesis surgery and neuropathic joints have difficulty to achieve fusion of joint with conventional methods. Authors underwent four cases of ankle fusion with vascularized fibular graft from 1997 in the cases of three failed fusions and one diabetic neuropatic joint. Two of four performed free vascularized fibular transplantation from contralateral side leg with microvascular anastomosis, two of four performed with pedicled fibular transposition to the ankle joint in same side leg. Three of four cases achieved arthrodesis average 9.2 months after surgery, one case was failed due to vascular thrombosis of the anastomosed site in diabetic neuropathic condition. The result of this technique revealed 75%(three of four) success rate and longer bone union time required. However, in these cases had no recommendable options with conventional bone graft and additional ankle joint fusions procedure because of poor bone quality and defect of distal tibia and talus portions. Free vascualrized fibular transfer to the failed athrodesis of ankle joint is one of the effective alternative methods in failed ankle fusion cases, especially the quality of the bone around previous fusion site is poor.
