This study aims to prepare countermeasures to prevent and minimize drowning accident in inland waters by examining the current status of inland water safety management in Korea and diagnosing the defects. The defects in current inland water safety management is analyzed in four aspects. First is the legal defect that includes the absence of legislation that directs the inland water safety management. Second is the instructional defect such as the absence of educational program for prevention of inland water accidents and lack of professional water rescue experts. Third is cooperation defect such as dispersed reporting system and lack of private-public partnership in accident response. Fourth is the defect of emergency response ability, professionalism and accident response skills due to the dispersion and overlaps of safety management systems. In order to improve these defects, this study finds the countermeasures based on the survey of water sports professions and users and its analysis as follows: legislation of '(tentatively named) special act for water safety management in inland waters' is suggested in the legal aspects. A development of inland waters safety education program and training of water accident experts are suggested in the instructional aspects. Integrated operational system for water accident management, activation of safety network and re-establishment of private-public partnership are suggested in the cooperation aspects. Systematic and efficient inland water safety management plans such as enhancement of accident response skills and expertise and integrated inland water safety management with fire department-centered system were suggested in the aspects of emergency response ability.
The electrical properties and defect states in ZnO substrates were studied during high-energy electron beam irradiations. 1 MeV and 2 MeV electron-beam with dose of $1{\times}10^{16}$ electrons/$cm^2$ were irradiated on Zn-surface of the sample. In the sample irradiated by 1 MeV, the leakage current was increased by electron-beam induced surface defects, while the enhancement of on/off property and the decrease of leakage current appeared in the 2 MeV irradiated sample. From the deep level transient spectroscopy measurements for these samples, it showed that the defect states with the activation energies of $E_c$-0.33 eV and $E_v$+0.8 eV are generated during the high energy electron-beam irradiation. Especially, it considered that the $E_c$-0.33 eV state related with O-vacancy affects to their electrical properties.

Recently, Thin film transistors (TFTs) with amorphous oxide semiconductors (AOSs) can offer an important aspect for next generation displays with high mobility. Several oxide semiconductor such as ZnO, $SnO_2$ and InGaZnO have been extensively researched. Especially, as a well-known binary metal oxide, tin oxide ($SnO_2$), usually acts as n-type semiconductor with a wide band gap of 3.6eV. Over the past several decades intensive research activities have been conducted on $SnO_2$ in the bulk, thin film and nanostructure forms due to its interesting electrical properties making it a promising material for applications in solar cells, flat panel displays, and light emitting devices. But, its application to the active channel of TFTs have been limited due to the difficulties in controlling the electron density and n-type of operation with depletion mode. In this study, we fabricated staggered bottom-gate structure $SnO_2$-TFTs and patterned channel layer used a shadow mask. Then we compare to the performance intrinsic $SnO_2$-TFTs and doping hafnium $SnO_2$-TFTs. As a result, we suggest that can be control the defect formation of $SnO_2$-TFTs by doping hafnium. The hafnium element into the $SnO_2$ thin-films maybe acts to control the carrier concentration by suppressing carrier generation via oxygen vacancy formation. Furthermore, it can be also control the mobility. And bias stability of $SnO_2$-TFTs is improvement using doping hafnium. Enhancement of device stability was attributed to the reduced defect in channel layer or interface. In order to verify this effect, we employed to measure activation energy that can be explained by the thermal activation process of the subthreshold drain current.

Purpose: This study was performed to compare the inverted digital images and film-based images of dry pig mandibles to measure the periodontal bone defect depth. Materials and Methods: Forty 2-wall bone defects were made in the proximal region of the premolar in the dry pig mandibles. The digital and conventional radiographs were taken using a Schick sensor and Kodak F-speed intraoral film. Image manipulation (inversion) was performed using Adobe Photoshop 7.0 software. Four trained examiners made all of the radiographic measurements in millimeters a total of three times from the cementoenamel junction to the most apical extension of the bone loss with both types of images: inverted digital and film. The measurements were also made in dry mandibles using a periodontal probe and digital caliper. The Student's t-test was used to compare the depth measurements obtained from the two types of images and direct visual measurement in the dry mandibles. A significance level of 0.05 for a 95% confidence interval was used for each comparison. Results: There was a significant difference between depth measurements in the inverted digital images and direct visual measurements (p>|t|=0.0039), with means of 6.29 mm ($IC_{95%}$:6.04-6.54) and 6.79 mm ($IC_{95%}$:6.45-7.11), respectively. There was a non-significant difference between the film-based radiographs and direct visual measurements (p>|t|=0.4950), with means of 6.64mm($IC_{95%}$:6.40-6.89) and 6.79mm($IC_{95%}$:6.45-7.11), respectively. Conclusion: The periodontal bone defect measurements in the inverted digital images were inferior to film-based radiographs, underestimating the amount of bone loss.
Purpose: The improvement of yield and quality in product manufacturing is crucial from the perspective of process management. Controlling key variables within the process is essential for enhancing the quality of the produced items. In this study, we aim to identify key variables influencing product defects and facilitate quality enhancement in CNC machining process using SHAP(SHapley Additive exPlanations) Methods: Firstly, we conduct model training using boosting algorithm-based models such as AdaBoost, GBM, XGBoost, LightGBM, and CatBoost. The CNC machining process data is divided into training data and test data at a ratio 9:1 for model training and test experiments. Subsequently, we select a model with excellent Accuracy and F1-score performance and apply SHAP to extract variables influencing defects in the CNC machining process. Results: By comparing the performances of different models, the selected CatBoost model demonstrated an Accuracy of 97% and an F1-score of 95%. Using Shapley Value, we extract key variables that positively of negatively impact the dependent variable(good/defective product). We identify variables with relatively low importance, suggesting variables that should be prioritized for management. Conclusion: The extraction of key variables using SHAP provides explanatory power distinct from traditional machine learning techniques. This study holds significance in identifying key variables that should be prioritized for management in CNC machining process. It is expected to contribute to enhancing the production quality of the CNC machining process.

Objective: To identify the CT findings associated with treatment failure after antibiotic therapy for acute appendicitis. Materials and Methods: Altogether, 198 patients who received antibiotic therapy for appendicitis were identified by searching the hospital's surgery database. Selection criteria for antibiotic therapy were uncomplicated appendicitis with an appendiceal diameter equal to or less than 11 mm. The 86 patients included in the study were divided into a treatment success group and a treatment failure group. Treatment failure was defined as a resistance to antibiotic therapy or recurrent appendicitis during a 1-year follow-up period. Two radiologists independently evaluated the following CT findings: appendix-location, involved extent, maximal diameter, thickness, wall enhancement, focal wall defect, periappendiceal fat infiltration, and so on. For the quantitative analysis, two readers independently measured the CT values at the least attenuated wall of the appendix by drawing a round region of interest on the enhanced CT (HUpost) and non-enhanced CT (HUpre). The degree of appendiceal wall enhancement (HUsub) was calculated as the subtracted value between HUpost and HUpre. A logistic regression analysis was used to identify the CT findings associated with treatment failure. Results: Sixty-four of 86 (74.4%) patients were successfully treated with antibiotic therapy, with treatment failure occurring in the remaining 22 (25.5%). The treatment failure group showed a higher frequency of hypoenhancement of the appendiceal wall than the success group (31.8% vs. 7.8%; p = 0.005). Upon quantitative analysis, both HUpost (46.7 ± 21.3 HU vs. 58.9 ± 22.0 HU; p = 0.027) and HUsub (26.9 ± 17.3 HU vs. 35.4 ± 16.6 HU; p = 0.042) values were significantly lower in the treatment failure group than in the success group. Conclusion: Hypoenhancement of the appendiceal wall was significantly associated with treatment failure after antibiotic therapy for acute appendicitis.
The defect caused by the software industry that is the source of knowledge-centric, information-centric and technology-centric affects an engine which operate a major role for operation of aircraft. Therefore, we should minimize the danger from the defect by strengthening the stability of aviation through the stability analysis of software. In this paper, we examine the laws and systems about the aircraft defects and software safety and propose the enhancement and the enactment of the law or measures to strengthen aviation safety. We should the existing law or system as items, such as the revision related to the safety analysis, standards of quality assurance including safety, application of quality assurance that you must attach the safety analysis report, assessment of detailed instructions of certification authorities. In addition, we should enact the new law and system as items such as the mandatory software evaluation and certification, continuous assessment based on the software life cycle, mandatory introduction of a standardized development methodology, strengthening of advanced workforce system. We can expect the improvement of software quality and an enhanced aviation safety by improving existing laws or systems and enacting new laws or systems.

Objectives: Beyond the original application approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) is used for medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) treatment because of its bone remodeling enhancement properties. The purpose of the study was to investigate the bone formation effect of rhBMP-2/absorbable collagen sponge (ACS) in patients with MRONJ. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, 26 female patients diagnosed with MRONJ and who underwent mandibular sequestrectomy at Ajou University Dental Hospital from 2010 to 2018 were included. The experimental group was composed of 18 patients who received rhBMP-2/ACS after sequestrectomy, while the control group was composed of 8 patients who did not receive rhBMP-2/ACS after sequestrectomy. A total dose of 0.5 mg of rhBMP-2 was used in the experimental group at a concentration of 0.5 mg/mL. Follow-up panoramic X-rays were taken immediately after the surgery and more than 6 months after the surgery. Using those X-rays, a radiographic index of bone defect area was calculated using the modified Ihan Hren method, which measures radiographic density of the normal bone and the defect site. Results: This study suggests that rhBMP-2 contributes to new bone formation. The mean radiographic index immediately after surgery and more than 6 months after the surgery for the experimental group was 68.4% and 79.8%, respectively. The mean radiographic index immediately after surgery and more than 6 months after the surgery for the control group was 73.4% and 76.7%, respectively (Wilcoxon signed rank test, P>0.05). The mean radiographic index increased 11.4% in the experimental group and 3.27% in the control group (Mann-Whitney U-test, P<0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results, use of rhBMP-2/ACS on bone defect sites after sequestrectomy could be a successful strategy for treatment of MRONJ patients.
This study was carried out to diminish the formation of scale in boilers which is one of the defect elements when they are operating. The defect relating to scale can cause a fatal impact on the explosion of boilers due to the overheating of their tubes, or it can affect the flow of water inside boilers with its bad circulation and result in a disparity of water inside the equipment. Heat transfer in the scale is low comparing to the boiler material, so it can lead to energy losses and has also impact on the global warming. In 2005, the Korean government introduced a system which requires boiler users to install the equipment which can prevent or eliminate the formation of scale to improve the management of water quality in boilers. The study on the techniques for preventing or eliminating the formation of scale started in 1821 and since then subsequently there have been lots of similar studies. The first one was about the scale reduction using potato starch. Since an ultrasonic scale preventer developed by a scientist from a Russian acoustic institute was introduced in1993, a variety of equipment of this kind have been disseminated in Korea. There has been a need to demonstrate the condition for the best performances of such equipment. Boilers are mostly composed of the main body and 288 the tube with a circular curved surface. I carried out a demonstration study on a circular tube which affects the scale defect the most among the boiler components. As a result of it, I found out the fact that the ultrasonic wave needs to reach a certain level of sound pressure and frequency to affect the formation of scale.
It is possible to enhance the color of the natural diamond with a high pressure high temperature(HPHT) process. We employed a pyrophyllite tube cell and cubic press apparatus for HPHT treatment on the brown colored Type II (5.6 GPa/ $1700^{\circ}C$/ 52 min), and Type I aB(5.6 GPa/ $1650^{\circ}C$/ 30 min) diamond samples. We investigated the microstructure, Types, fluorescence, properties of the diamonds with an optical microscopy, FT-IR, photoluminescence(PL) spectroscopy, Diamond-View, and micro-Raman spectroscopy. Two tinted brown diamonds changed into colorless just after the HPHT process. Optical microscopy showed that no crack and significant inclusion evolution occurred during the HPHT process except the small graphite spot appeared in Type I aB sample. FTIR spectrum confirmed that no Type, amber center, and platelet defect change with the HPHT treatment. Diamond-View could not distinguish the HPHT treated diamonds from the naturals. PL spectroscopy showed that N3 and H3 color centers remained even after HPHT process. Consequently, we successfully changed the color of diamonds into colorless by 5.6 GPa HPHT process.
