The health of the human heart is commonly measured using ECG (Electrocardiography) signals. To identify any anomaly in the human heart, the time-sequence of ECG signals is examined manually by a cardiologist or cardiac electrophysiologist. Lightweight anomaly detection on ECG signals in an embedded system is expected to be popular in the near future, because of the increasing number of heart disease symptoms. Some previous research uses deep learning networks such as LSTM and BiLSTM to detect anomaly signals without any handcrafted feature. Unfortunately, lightweight LSTMs show low precision and heavy LSTMs require heavy computing powers and volumes of labeled dataset for symptom classification. This paper proposes an ECG anomaly detection system based on two level BiLSTM for acceptable precision with lightweight networks, which is lightweight and usable at home. Also, this paper presents a new threshold technique which considers statistics of the current ECG pattern. This paper's proposed model with BiLSTM detects ECG signal anomaly in 0.467 ~ 1.0 F1 score, compared to 0.426 ~ 0.978 F1 score of the similar model with LSTM except one highly noisy dataset.

Structural health monitoring is used to ensure the well-being of civil structures by detecting damage and estimating deterioration. Wind flow applies external loads to high-rise buildings, with the horizontal force component of the wind causing structural displacements in high-rise buildings. This study proposes a deep learning-based predictive model for measuring lateral displacement response in high-rise buildings. The proposed long short-term memory model functions as a sequence generator to generate displacements on building floors depending on the displacement statistics collected on the top floor. The model was trained with wind-induced displacement data for the top floor of a high-rise building as input. The outcomes demonstrate that the model can forecast wind-induced displacement on the remaining floors of a building. Further, displacement was predicted for each floor of the high-rise buildings at wind flow angles of 0° and 45°. The proposed model accurately predicted a high-rise building model's story drift and lateral displacement. The outcomes of this proposed work are anticipated to serve as a guide for assessing the overall lateral displacement of high-rise buildings.

In manufacturing companies that focus on small-scale production of multiple product varieties, defective products are manually selected by workers rather than relying on automated inspection. Consequently, there is a higher risk of incorrect sorting due to variations in selection criteria based on the workers' experience and expertise, without consistent standards. Moreover, for non-standardized flexible objects with varying sizes and shapes, there can be even greater deviations in the selection criteria. To address these issues, this paper designs a quality inspection system using artificial intelligence-based unsupervised learning methods and conducts research by experimenting with accuracy using a dataset obtained from real manufacturing environments.

Single image super-resolution (SISR) is an image processing technique, and its main target is to reconstruct the high-quality or high-resolution (HR) image from the low-quality or low-resolution (LR) image. Currently, deep learning-based convolutional neural network (CNN) image super-resolution approaches achieved remarkable improvement over the previous approaches. Furthermore, earlier approaches used hand designed filter to upscale the LR image into HR image. The design architecture of such approaches is easy, but it introduces the extra unwanted pixels in the reconstructed image. To resolve these issues, we propose novel deep learning-based approach known as Lightweight deep CNN-based approach for Single Image Super-Resolution (LDCSIR). In this paper, we propose a new architecture which is inspired by ResNet with Inception blocks, which significantly drop the computational cost of the model and increase the processing time for reconstructing the HR image. Compared with the other state of the art methods, LDCSIR achieves better performance in terms of quantitively (PSNR/SSIM) and qualitatively.

In this paper, we developed a traffic signal control system for emergency situations that can minimize loss of property and life by actively controlling traffic signals in a certain section in response to emergency situations. When the emergency vehicle terminal transmits an emergency signal including identification information and GPS information, the surrounding image is obtained from the camera, and the object is analyzed based on deep learning to output object information having information such as the location, type, and size of the object. After generating information tracking this object and detecting the signal system, the signal system is switched to emergency mode to identify and track the emergency vehicle based on the received GPS information, and to transmit emergency control signals based on the emergency vehicle's traveling route. It is a system that can be transmitted to a signal controller. This system prevents the emergency vehicle from being blocked by an emergency control signal that is applied first according to an emergency signal, thereby minimizing loss of life and property due to traffic obstacles.

The similarity in tones between speakers can lower the performance of speaker verification. To improve the performance of speaker verification systems, we propose a multi-task learning technique using deep neural network to learn speaker information and age information. Multi-task learning can improve generalization performances, because it helps deep neural networks to prevent hidden layers from overfitting into one task. However, we found in experiments that learning of age information does not work well in the process of learning the deep neural network. In order to improve the learning, we propose a method to dynamically change the objective function weights of speaker identification and age estimation in the learning process. Results show the equal error rate based on RSR2015 evaluation data set, 6.91 % for the speaker verification system without using age information, 6.77 % using age information only, and 4.73 % using age information when weight change technique was applied.

Biometric technology using finger veins is receiving a lot of attention due to its high security, convenience and accuracy. And the recent development of deep learning technology has improved the processing speed and accuracy for authentication. However, the training data is a subset of real data not in a certain order or method and the results are not constant. so the amount of data and the complexity of the artificial neural network must be considered. In this paper, the deep learning model of Inception-Resnet-v2 was used to improve the high accuracy of the finger vein recognizer and the performance of the authentication system, We compared and analyzed the performance of the deep learning model of DenseNet-201. The simulations used data from MMCBNU_6000 of Jeonbuk National University and finger vein images taken directly. There is no preprocessing for the image in the finger vein authentication system, and the results are checked through EER.

Distributed fiber-optic acoustic·vibration sensing technology is becoming increasingly popular in many industrial and academic areas such as in securing large edifices, exploring underground seismic activity, monitoring oil well/reservoir, etc. Long-range perimeter intrusion detection exemplifies an application that not only detects intrusion, but also pinpoints where it happens and recognizes kinds of threats made along the perimeter where a single fiber cable was installed. In this study, we developed a distributed fiber-optic sensing device that measures a distributed acoustic·vibration signature (pattern) for intrusion detection. In addition, we demontrate the proposed deep learning algorithm and how it classifies various intrusion events. We evaluated the sensing device and deep learning algorithm in a practical testbed setup. The evaluation results confirm that the developed system is a promising intrusion detection system for long-distance and seamless recognition requirements.

In this paper, we propose an optimal wavelet in a system for canceling background noise of acoustic signals. This system performed Discrete Wavelet Transform(DWT) instead of the existing Short Time Fourier Transform(STFT) and then improved noise cancellation performance through a deep learning process. DWT functions as a multi-resolution band-pass filter and obtains transformation parameters by time-shifting the parent wavelet at each level and using several wavelets whose sizes are scaled. Here, the noise cancellation performance of several wavelets was tested to select the most suitable mother wavelet for analyzing the speech. In this study, to verify the performance of the noise cancellation system for various wavelets, a simulation program using Tensorflow and Keras libraries was created and simulation experiments were performed for the four most commonly used wavelets. As a result of the experiment, the case of using Haar or Daubechies wavelets showed the best noise cancellation performance, and the mean square error(MSE) was significantly improved compared to the case of using other wavelets.

Recently, deep learning has been used in the development of various institutional devices and services to help the visually impaired people in their daily lives. This is because not only are there few products and facility guides written in braille, but less than 10% of the visually impaired can use braille. In this paper, we propose a system that recognizes beverage cans in real time and outputs the beverage can name with sound for the convenience of the visually impaired. Five commercially available beverage cans were selected, and a CNN model and a YOLO model were designed to recognize the beverage cans. After augmenting the image data, model training was performed. The accuracy of the proposed CNN model and YOLO model is 91.2% and 90.8%, respectively. For practical verification, a system was built by attaching a camera and speaker to a Raspberry Pi. In the system, the YOLO model was applied. It was confirmed that beverage cans were recognized and output as sound in real time in various environments.
