The present investigation deals with the application of Adomian's decomposition method to blood flow through a constricted artery in the presence of an external transverse magnetic field which is applied uniformly. The blood flowing through the tube is assumed to be Newtonian in character. The expressions for the two-term approximation to the solution of stream function, axial velocity component and wall shear stress are obtained in this analysis. The numerical solutions of the wall shear stress for different values of Reynold number and Hartmann number are shown graphically. The solution of this theoretical result for a particular Hart-mann number is compared with the integral method solution of Morgan and Young[17].

The acoustic optimization of a swirl coaxial jet injector mounted upstream a combustion chamber is investigated to tackle combustion instabilities. The least damped modes are extracted with the help of the dynamic mode decomposition (DMD). The sensitivity of the heat release perturbation to the velocity perturbation for the second longitudinal mode is investigated by combining the Crocco's equation and the inhomogeneous wave equation and computing the flame transfer function (FTF). DMD and FTF results agree in terms of the optimized injector length.
This paper deals with damage detection using active Lamb waves. The wavelet transform and empirical mode decomposition methods are discussed for measuring the Lamb wave's arrival time of the group velocity. An experimental system to diagnose the damage in the composite plate is developed. A method to optimize this system is also given for practical applications of active Lamb waves, which involve optimal arrangement of the piezoelectric elements to produce single mode Lamb waves. In the paper, the single mode Lamb wave means that there exists no overlapping among different Lamb wave modes and the original Lamb wave signal with the boundary reflection signals. Based on this optimized PZT arrangement method, five damage localizations on different plates are completed and the results using wavelet transform and empirical mode decomposition methods are compared.
This study presents the analysis of an atmospheric flow around a single-doppler radar located in a pseudo-site. The use of a doppler radar in meteorological field of wind engineering has become widespread over the last several decades, but it has generally been recognized that the single-Doppler radar yields only one single velocity component - the radial velocity($V_r$) so that some additional hypotheses or simplifications must be necessary to get proper wind forecast. Therefore, in order to get an accurate radial velocity($V_r$) in this study, the existing methods such as VAD(Velocity Azimuth Display) and VARD(Velocity Area Display) are reformulated and applied to match the previous study(Waldteufel and Corbin), which have been an important indicator for retrieving a radar velocity. The results presented in this study include the results from different assessment methods in a peudo-site of different wind fields. Unless the existing method can consider the proper decomposition of radial velocity in the real site, then authors suggest an appropriate curve-fitting to decrease the uncertainty errors by changing a grid adaptation rate or applying a weighting function with respect to the wind angle. It is concluded that provided properly formulated fitting function are used, the wind retrieval from the Doppler radar using VAD and VARD methods can be a viable tool for use in wind engineering problems searching for the wind resources.
Practical non-synoptic fluctuating wind often exhibits nonstationary features and should be modeled as nonstationary random processes. Generally, the coherence function of the fluctuating wind field has time-varying characteristics. Some studies have shown that there is a big difference between the fluctuating wind field of the coherent function model with and without time variability. Therefore, it is of significance to simulate nonstationary fluctuating wind field with time-varying coherent function. However, current studies on the numerical simulation of nonstationary fluctuating wind field with time-varying coherence are very limited, and the proposed approaches are usually based on the traditional spectral representation method with low simulation efficiency. Especially, for the simulation of multi-variable wind field of large span structures such as transmission tower-line, not only the simulation is inefficient but also the matrix decomposition may have singularity problem. In this paper, it is proposed to conduct the numerical simulation of nonstationary fluctuating wind field in one-spatial dimension with time-varying coherence based on the wavenumber-frequency spectrum. The simulated multivariable nonstationary wind field with time-varying coherence is transformed into one-dimensional nonstationary random waves in the simulated spatial domain, and the simulation by wavenumber frequency spectrum is derived. So, the proposed simulation method can avoid the complicated Cholesky decomposition. Then, the proper orthogonal decomposition is employed to decompose the time-space dependent evolutionary power spectral density and the Fourier transform of time-varying coherent function, simultaneously, so that the two-dimensional Fast Fourier transform can be applied to further improve the simulation efficiency. Finally, the proposed method is applied to simulate the longitudinal nonstationary fluctuating wind velocity field along the transmission line to illustrate its performances.

TiO$_2$ photocatalyst films deposited beads were prepared by circulating fluidized bed chemical vapor deposition(CFB-CVD) using TTIP(Titanium Tetra Iso-Propoxyde). Photocatalytic activities of Photocatalyst beads were evaluated by decomposition rate of formaldehyde in aqueous solution using a photo-reactor. From the result of photocatalytic degradation of formaldehyde, decomposition rate were shown gradually increased according to the increase of UV intensity, circulating fluid velocity and addition amount of H$_2$O$_2$. However the decomposition rate of formaldehyde were decreased according to the increase of initial concentration and pH value.

This study characterized the reforming of methane with carbon dioxide, which is a major cause of global warming. The methane decomposition reaction with carbon dioxide was carried out using transition metal catalysts. The reactivity of tin was lower than that of a transition metal, such as nickel and iron. Most of the decomposition reaction occurred in the solid state. The melting point of tin is 505.03 K. Tin reacts in a liquid phase at the reaction temperature and has the advantage of separating carbon produced by the decomposition of methane from the liquid tin catalyst. Therefore, deactivation due to the deposition of carbon in the liquid tin can be prevented. Methane decomposition with carbon dioxide produced carbon monoxide and hydrogen. Ni was used to promote the catalyst performance and enhance the activity of the catalyst and lifetime. In this study, catalysts were synthesized using the excess wet impregnation method. The effect of the reaction temperature, space velocity was measured to calculate the activity of catalysts, such as the activation energy and regeneration of catalysts. The carbon-deposited tin catalyst regeneration temperature was 1023 K. The reactivity was improved using a nickel co-catalyst and a water supply.
A new efficient numerical method for computing unsteady, incompressible flows, DRANS (Decoupled Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes), is presented. To eliminate the restriction of CFL condition, a fully-implicit time advancement in which the Crank-Nicolson method is used fer both the diffusion and convection terms. is adopted. Based on decomposition method, the velocity-turbulent quantity decoupling is achieved. The additional decoupling of the intermediate velocity components in the convection term is made for the fully-implicit time advancement scheme. Since the iterative procedures for the momentum, ${\kappa}\;and\;{\varepsilon}$ equations are not required, the components decouplings bring fourth the reduction of computational cost. The second-order accuracy in time of the present numerical algorithm is ascertained by computing decaying vortices. The present decoupling method is applied to turbulent boundary layer with local forcing.

Present study explains some experimental results on the aerodynamic noise of the cross-flow fan usually installed in the indoor unit of the room air-conditioners and provides a simple reduction method of radiating sound to decrease the total noise level. The spectra of the noise of the cross-flow fan were analyzed by the spectral decomposition method to characterize the generated sound. The unsteady fluctuating flow field was also measured using the I-type hot-wire probe. Comparing the spectral characteristics of the sound and the flow velocity, a useful noise reduction method was proposed, which bounds the region with a fence where the flow fluctuations were noticeably changed in the same fashion as the source spectral distribution functions vary. To validate the proposed method for reducing noise generated by the cross-flow fan, the sound pressure levels of the cross-flow fan system were compared with and without the bounding fence for various flow rates.
