  • The pressure oscillation induced by inhibitor in a solid rocket motor has been investigated by 3D large eddy simulation(LES) and proper orthogonal decomposition(POD). The vortex generation and breakdown at inhibitor are periodically observed between the inhibitor and the nozzle by flow-acoustic coupling mechanism. The excitation of pressure oscillation occurs as the flow impinges on the submerged nozzle head which recirculate in the cavity in rear dome of the motor chamber. The vortex generation frequency is closely related with the shedding frequencies of the detached vorticities at the inhibiter, which fairly compared with the experimental data.

  • Activated carbon fiber (ACF) was modified with MnS nanoparticles to prepare MnS-ACF, and it was employed for preparation of MnS-$ACF/TiO_2$ composites with titanium (IV) n-butoxide (TNB). The properties of MnS-$ACF/TiO_2$ composites were characterized by XRD, SEM, and EDX. EDX results showed the presence of C, O, and Ti as major elements and traces of the metal elements Mn and S. The photocatlytic activity was evaluated by degradation of methyl blue (MB) and methyl orange (MO) dye. The results demonstrated that as-prepared samples could effectively photodegrade MB and MO under UV irradiation. Subsequently, the decomposition of MB solution showed the combined effects of adsorptions by ACF and enhanced photocatalytic effect by $TiO_2$. Finally, the photocatalytic effect increased due to photo-induced-electron absorption effect by ACF and electron trap effect by comodified MnS nanoparticles.

  • In this study, the characteristics of atrazine decompositon with photo-chemical oxidation process was investigated by the oxidation products analysis. The main products of the process were OIET(2-hydroxy-4-ethylamino-6-isopropylamino s-triazine), OIAT(2-hydroxy-4-amino-6-isopropylamino s-triazine) and OAAT(2-hydroxy-4,6-diamino-s-triazine), resulting i n dechlorination or hydroxylation as the main mechanism of the photo-chemical oxidation process. Through the material balance analysis of TOC and chloride ion in the aqueous solution, it was concluded that mineralization of the atrazine was not occurred but the dechlorination of atrazine had been completed.

  • The paper investigates the mechanism through which corporate credit ratings affect dividend payments by decomposing the mean difference of dividends into a part that is explained by the determinants of dividends and a residual part that is contributed by the pure credit group effect, in the framework of the traditional dividend model of Fama and French (2001). Historically, better credit rated firms have shown consistently higher propensity to pay dividends especially during the economic crisis period. According to the counter-factual decomposition technique of Jann (2008), better rated firms are more responsive to the firm characteristics that have positive impact on dividends and poor rated firms are more responsive to the negative dividend predictors. As a result, good (bad) credit ratings make corporate managers become more bold (timid) in their dividend payments and they tend to pay more (less) dividends than what their firm characteristics prescribe. The degree of information asymmetry increases for the poor group firms during crisis periods and they attempt to reserve more cash in preparation for future investments. The decomposition results suggest that the credit group effect can potentially exceed the effect of firm characteristics because firms of different credit ratings can respond to the very same firm characteristics in a different manner.

  • Latex polymers are widely used for adhesive, binder, paint etc. Especially the PVAc(Polyvinyl acetate) latex which manufactured by vinyl acetate and vinyl alcohol as protective colloid is a useful environmentally friendly adhesive. To increase useful property of PVAc latex, this study was carried out for checking thermal characteristics and physical condition of PVAc latex by DSC, FT-IR, Pyrolyzer GC-MS. The activation energies of thermal decomposition for 40, 48, 56, 64% solid content of PVAc latex were found as 28.1-36.0kcal/mol by Kissinger's method and 17.2-22.0kcal/mol by DSC method. Actually, reasonable solid content could be consiered as 56% because of activation energy and adhesive characteristics. According to the effect of protective colloid for 4, 10, 15, 20wt%, the activation energy shows same tendency to both method and in case of l5wt% has been found as the highest activation energy. The mechanism of thermal decomposition was mainly estimated by main chain scission, not by side group on FT-IR analysis. Main component of Pyrolzer GC-MS result were consisted of $CH_3COOH$, $CH_3$, $H_2O$ and light gases(CO, $CO_2$, $CH_4$ etc).

  • Hazadous properties were evaluated for Alkyl nitrates such as hexyl nitrate, decyl nitrate, dodecyl nitrate and 2-methyl pentyl nitrate, 2-hexyl ethyl nitrate. The thermochemical properties such as heat of vaporization, boiling point, flash point and kinetic parameter for aliphatic nitrate were measured to determine the hazadous properties of these compounds. The boiling points and heat of vaporization increase as the increase of alkyl chain length in alkyl nitrates. Flash point is a linear function of boiling point as same as alkanes. The rate equation in isothermal decomposition are 1/2 order and compensation effect is found between logarithm of frequency factor the activation energy, then the decomposition preceeds with simlar reaction mechanism for each nitrate.

  • After an emergency shutdown of a lead-bismuth fast reactor, thermal stratification occurs in the upper Plenum, which negatively impacts the integrity of the reactor structure and the residual heat removal capacity of natural circulation flow. The research on thermal stratification of reactors has mainly been conducted using an experimental method, a system program, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). However, the equipment required for the experimental method is expensive, accuracy of the system program is unpredictable, and resources and time required for the CFD approach are extensive. To overcome the defects of thermal stratification analysis, a high-precision full-order thermal stratification model based on CFD technology is prepared in this study. Furthermore, a reduced-order model has been developed by combining proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) with Galerkin projection. A comparative analysis of thermal stratification with the proposed full-order model reveals that the reduced-order thermal stratification model can well simulate the temperature distribution in the upper plenum and rapidly elucidate the thermal stratification interface characteristics during the lead-bismuth fast reactor accident. Overall, this study provides an analytical tool for determining the thermal stratification mechanism and reducing thermal stratification.

  • In advancing Li-ion battery (LIB) technology, the solid electrolyte interface (SEI) layer is critical for enhancing battery longevity and performance. Formed during the charging process, the SEI layer is essential for controlling ion transport and maintaining electrode stability. This research provides a detailed analysis of how vinylene carbonate (VC) influences SEI layer formation. The integration of VC into the electrolyte markedly improved SEI properties. Moreover, correlation analysis revealed a connection between electrolyte decomposition and battery degradation, linked to the EMC esterification and dicarboxylate formation processes. VC facilitated the formation of a more uniform and chemically stable SEI layer enriched with poly(VC), thereby enhancing mechanical resilience and electrochemical stability. These findings deepen our understanding of the role of electrolyte additives in SEI formation, offering a promising strategy to improve the efficiency and lifespan of LIBs.

  • To understand the mass-independent isotopic fractionation effects, thermal decomposition of ozone was performed. Initial oxygen gas was converted to ozone completely. Then, the ozone was decomposed to oxygen at various temperatures ($30~150^{\circ}C$). Isotopic compositions of product oxygen and residual ozone were measured using a stable isotope mass spectrometer. The experimental results were compared with the studies which were performed at the similar conditions. From the raw experimental data, the functions of the instantaneous fractionation factors were calculated by the least square fit. The results clearly showed the temperature dependence. They also showed the pressure dependence and the surface effect. This study may play an important role in the study of ozone decomposition mechanism. It can be applied to explain the mass-independent isotopic pattern found in stratospheric ozone and in meteorites.
