Ozone is usually generated from oxygen gas using a silent discharge apparatus and its concentration is less then 10 mol%. Ozone is condensed by the adsorption method, which is widely used for the growth of oxidation thin films such as superconductor. Highly condensed ozone is analyzed by three methods; ultraviolet absorption, thermal decomposition and Q-mass analyzing methods. Thermal decomposition method is most effective in the highly condensed ozone region and its method is superior to Q-mass analyzer for determining ozone concentration because of the simplicity of the method.
A method has been developed for the determination of trace anion impurities in concentrated hydrogen peroxide. The method involves on-line decomposition of hydrogen peroxide, ion chromatographic separation and subsequent suppressed-type conductivity detection. H2O2 is decomposed in Pt-catalyst filled Gore-Tex membrane tubing and the resulting aqueous solution containing analytes is introduced to the injection valve of an ion chromatograph for periodic determinations. The oxygen gas evolving within the membrane tubing escapes freely through the membrane wall causing no problem in ion chromatographic analysis. Decomposition efficiency is above 99.99% at a flow rate of 0.4mL/min for a 30% hydrogen peroxide concentration. Analytes are quantitatively retained. The analysis results for several brands of commercial hydrogen peroxides are reported.
A thermal decomposition of trichloroethylene was studied in the temperature range of 440-$460^{\circ}C$ by using the conventional static system. In order to investigate the pressure dependence of reaction and to eliminate free radical process, propylene was used as the bath gas. The pressure range investigated was 10∼900 Torr. The decomposition was the unimolecular dehydrochlorination and the reaction products were hydrogen chloride and dichloroacetylene. Results were interpreted in terms of the Ric-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus (RRKM) unimolecular rate theory and the Arrhenius parameters were determined from fall-off behaviors. The Arrhenius parameters are found to be log $A=13.8{\pm}0.2sec^{-1}$ and E = $56.6{\pm}0.7$ kcal/mole, respectively.
Fluidized bed combustion is a coal combustion technology that can reduce both SOx and NOx emission; SOx is removed by limestone that is fed into the combustion chamber and the NOx is reduced by low temperature combustion in a fluidized bed combustor and air stepping, but $N_2O$ generation is quite high. $N_2O$ is not only a greenhouse gas but also an agent of ozone destruction in the stratosphere. The calcium oxide(CaO) is known to be a catalyst of $N_2O$ decomposition. This study of $N_2O$ decomposition reaction in fixed bed reactor packed over CaO bed has been conducted. Effects of parameters such as concentration of inlet $N_2O$ gas, reaction temperature, CaO bed height and effect of $CO_2$, NO, $O_2$ gas on the decomposition reaction have been investigated. As a result of the experiment, it has been shown that $N_2O$ decomposition reaction increased with the increasing fixed bed temperature. While conversion of the reaction was decreased with increasing $CO_2$ concentration. Also, under the present of NO, the conversion of $N_2O$ decomposition is decreased. From the result of kinetic study gained the heterogeneous reaction rate on $N_2O$ decomposition. In the case of $N_2O$ decomposition over CaO, heterogeneous reaction rate is. $\frac{d[N_2O]}{dt}=\frac{3.86{\times}10^9{\exp}(-15841/R)K_{N_2O}[N_2O]}{(1+K_{N_2O}[N_2O]+K_{CO_2}[CO_2])}$. In this study, it is found that the calcium oxide is a good catalyst of $N_2O$ decomposition.

Zirconia thin films of uniform structure were fabricated by plasma-enhanced metal-organic chemical vapor deposition. Deposition conditions such as substrate temperature were observed to have much influence on the formation of zirconia films, therefore the mechanism of decomposition of $Zr[TMHD]_4$precursor and film growth were examined by XRD, FT-IR etc., as well as the determination of the optimal deposition condition. From temperature dependence on zirconia, below the deposition temperature of 523K, the amorphous zirconia was formed while the crystalline of zirconia with preferred orientation of cubic (200) was obtained above the temperature. Deposits at low temperatures were investigated by FT-IR and the absorption band of films revealed that the zirconia thin film was in amorphous structure and has the same organic band as that of Zr precursor. In case of high temperature, it was found that Zr precursor was completely decomposed and crystalline zirconia was obtained. In addition, at 623K the higher RF power yielded the increased crystallinity of zirconia implying an increase in decomposition rate of precursor. However, it seems that RF power has nothing with the zirconia deposition process at 773K. It was found that the proper bubbler temperature of TEX>$Zr[TMHD]<_4$ precursor is needed along with high flow rate of carrier gas. Through AFM analysis it was determined that the growth mechanism of the zirconia thin film showed island model.

Solid materials of ammonia sources with SCR have been considered for the application of lean NOx reduction in automobile industry, to overcome complex problems of liquid urea based SCR. These solid materials produce ammonia gas directly with proper heating and can be packaged by compact size, because of high volumetric ammonia density. Among ammonium salts and metal ammine chlorides, calcium ammine chloride was focused on this paper due to low decomposition temperature. In order to make calcium ammine chloride in lab-scale, simple reactor and glove box was designed and built with ammonium gas tank, regulator, and sensors. Basic test conditions of charging ammonia gas to anhydrous calcium chloride are chosen from equilibrium vapor pressure by Van't Hoff plot based on thermodynamic properties of materials. Synthetic method of calcium ammine chloride were studied for different durations, temperatures, and pressures with proper ammonia gas charged, as a respect of ammonia gas adsorption rate(%) from simple weight calculations which were confirmed by IC. Also, lab-made calcium ammine chloride were analyzed by TGA and DSC to clarify decomposition step in the equations of chemical reaction. To understand material characteristics for lab-made calcium ammine chloride, DA, XRD and FT-IR analysis were performed with published data of literature. From analytical results, water content in lab-made calcium ammine chloride can be discovered and new test procedures of water removal were proposed.
To date, carbon and nitrogen co-doped photocatalysts (CN-$TiO_2$) for environmental application focused mainly on the aqueous phase to investigate the decomposition of water pollutants. Accordingly, the present study explored the photocatalytic performance of CN-$TiO_2$ photocatalysts for the purification of indoor-level gas-phase aromatic species under different operational conditions. The characteristics of prepared photocatalysts were investigated using X-ray diffraction, scanning emission microscope, diffuse reflectance UV-VIS-NIR analysis, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) analysis. In most cases, the decomposition efficiency for the target compounds exhibited a decreasing trend as input concentration (IC) increased. Specifically, the average decomposition efficiencies for benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, and xylene (BTEX) over a 3-h process decreased from 29% to close to zero, 80 to 5%, 95 to 19%, and 99 to 32%, respectively, as the IC increased from 0.1 to 2.0 ppm. The decomposition efficiencies obtained from the CN-$TiO_2$ photocatalytic system were higher than those of the $TiO_2$ system. As relative humidity (RH) increased from 20 to 95%, the decomposition efficiencies for BTEX decreased from 39 to 5%, 97 to 59%, 100 to 87%, and 100 to 92%, respectively. In addition, as the stream flow rates (SFRs) decreased from 3.0 to 1.0 L $min^{-1}$, the average efficiencies for BTEX increased from 0 to 58%, 63 to 100%, 69 to 100%, and 68 to 100%, respectively. Taken together, these findings suggest that three (IC, RH, and SFR) should be considered for better BTEX decomposition efficiencies when applying CN-$TiO_2$ photocatalytic technology to purification of indoor air BTEX.

This paper proposes an effective decomposition method of trichloroethylene using pellet packed-bed non-thermal plasma reactor and catalyst. For that, two types of reactors filled with manganese dioxide and alumina pellets are designed. When $MnO_2$ packed reactor is used, TCE decomposition rate is high due to the generation of oxygen atom radicals at the surface of catalyst during ozone decomposition. In addition, When $Al_2O_3$ packed reactor is used, TCE is oxidized into DCAC and it did not decomposed into small molecules such as COx and $Cl_2$. However, the plasma processed gas using $Al_2O_3$ packed reactor is passed through the $MnO_2$ catalyst reactor, which is placed at the downstream of plasma reactor, the decomposition rate increased as well due to oxygen atom radicals through ozone decomposition. Therefore, the adequate use of $MnO_2$ catalyst in the plasma process is very promising way to increase the decomposition efficiency.
Recently, stratigraphic reservoirs are getting more attention than structural reservoirs which have mostly developed. However, recognizing stratigraphic thin gas reservoirs in a stacked section is usually difficult because of tuning effects. Moreover, if the reflections from the brine-saturated region of a thin layer have the same polarity with those from the gas-saturated region, we could not easily identify the gas reservoir with conventional data processing technique. In this study, we introduced a way to delineate the gas-saturated region in a thin layer reservoir using a spectral decomposition method. First of all, amplitude spectrum with the variation of the frequency and the incident angle was investigated for the medium which represents property of Class 3, Class 1 or Class 4 AVO response. The results show that the maximum difference in the amplitude spectra between brine and gas-saturated thin layers occurs around the peak frequency independent of the incident angle and the type of AVO responses. In addition, the amplitude spectra of the gas-saturated zone are greater than those of brine-saturated one in Class 3 and Class 4 at the peak frequency while those of phenomenon occur oppositely in Class 1. Based on the results, we applied spectral decomposition method to the stacked section in order to distinguish the gas-saturated zone from the brine-saturated zone in a thin layer reservoir. To verify our new method, we constructed a thin-layer velocity model which contains both gas and brine-saturated zones which have the same reflection polarities. As a result, in the spectral decomposed sections near the peak frequency obtained by Wigner-Ville Distribution (WVD), we could identify the difference between reflections from gas- and brinesaturated region in the thin layer reservoir, which was hardly distinguishable in the stacked section.

The amount of $CO_2$ and $CH_4$ that were produced during biodegradation with were measured as function of time. Also, the settlements of landfill lysimeters were measured at the same time, and the relation with LFF(landfill gas) production was investigated. The effects of leachate recycle on the acceleration of settlement were studied by comparing two lysimeters. The gas production rate constant, $^{\kappa}_{LFG}$ is obtained to predict future gas production and settlement. These will be key role factors to predict gas production patterns and residual long-term settlement.
