Implementation of an Auto-Steering System for Recreational Marine Crafts Using Android Platform and NMEA Network

  • This paper deals with development of an autopilot system for leisure yacht based on NMEA 2000 network and android platform. The developed system can operate both for manual steering and automatic navigation mode. In automatic steering mode, after manipulation of commands which are NMEA 0183 sentences by android platform, the developed system translates and sends the packets through NMEA 2000 network. Then the controller which is connected to NMEA 2000 network receives the commands and controls the boat's rudder system automatically. The automatic steering mode is achieved by cooperation of two controllers; one for controlling the rudder system, and the other for controlling the vessel's heading. To control the vessel's rudder and heading angle two PID controllers are developed with an adjustable dead-band gain. Also, in order to eliminate the steady-state error occurred by applying dead-band, an integral controller which specifically supervises the system's behavior inside the dead-band area is developed. In this paper, at the first stage, simulations are accomplished using computer in order to examine the feasibility of the proposed based on simulation results. In the next step, the system on a real hydraulic steering model is implemented and at the end the performance examination by implementing it on a real boat and doing test navigation is executed.

  • 본 논문은 새로운 지역 경로 계획 알고리즘으로 DPH(Distance Profile Histogram)방법과 뉴럴네트워크를 사용한 주행 방법을 제안한다. DPH방법은 격자형 환경 모델을 기반으로 장애물의 존재 유무와 거리정보와 같은 장애물의 기하학적 배치정보를 사용하게 된다. 또한 긴 장애물이나 막힘상황(Dead end)과 같이 지역 경로 계획만으로는 회피하기 어려운 상황에서는 뉴럴네트워크에 의해 학습된 정보에 의해 주행하는 방법을 사용했다.

Realistic and Efficient Radio Propagation Model for V2X Communications

  • Multiple wireless devices are being widely deployed in Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) services on the road to establish end-to-end connection between vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) networks. Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) play an important role in supporting V2V and V2I communications (also called V2X communications) in a variety of urban environments with distinct topological characteristics. In fact, obstacles such as big buildings, moving vehicles, trees, advertisement boards, traffic lights, etc. may block the radio signals in V2X communications. Their impact has been neglected in VANET research. In this paper, we present a realistic and efficient radio propagation model to handle different sizes of static and moving obstacles for V2X communications. In the proposed model, buildings and large moving vehicles are modeled as static and moving obstacles, and taken into account their impact on the packet reception rate, Line-of-sight (LOS) obstruction, and received signal power. We use unsymmetrical city map which has many dead-end roads and open faces. Each dead-end road and open faces are joined to the nearest edge making a polygon to model realistic obstacles. The simulation results of proposed model demonstrates better performance compared to some existing models, that shows proposed model can reflect more realistic simulation environments.

  • This study aims to derive street design alternative which can be applied to residential area as the functions of land use have been changed. The main findings are as follows; First, the study area in this research is on the process of the functional transition from full residential use to residential-commercial mixed use with cafes and restaurants. Second, dead-end streets in residential areas needs to be widened in order to meet the increasing needs of pedestrians and cars. One of the suggested strategies is to remove fences on the dead-end streets. Third, based on the main findings, this research can suggest following policies. Citizen participation is necessary in building land use plans and space design in old residential areas. Citizens can participate in architectural and landscape contracts, district-unit plan with the help of experts such as urban planners and architects.

고분자 전해질 연료전지의 수소극 공급모드에 따른 성능특성 (Performance Characteristics of a Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell with the Anodic Supply Mode)

  • The water transport inside a polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) varied according to the anodic supply mode. The performance characteristics of a PEFC which can be affected by the water transport were observed with the anodic supply mode. In the flow-through and recirculation mode the performance showed no reduction with time because the flow in the anode was not stagnated. In the dead-end mode, without any discharged gas, the water remains inside of the anode, which caused the reduction of the performance with the lapse of time. However, even in the dead-end mode, little reduction of the performance with time was shown when only the anode was humidified externally. It means that the back-diffusion was the major factor to the accumulation of water in the anode rather than external humidification.

  • The present study is devoted to the validation of a new method for in line electrokinetic characterisation of deposits on membrane surfaces. This method is based upon simultaneous measurements of transversal streaming potential and permeates flux at constant pressure before and during the deposit formation. Dead-end filtration experiments were conducted with negative flat membranes forming a narrow slit channel, negative hollow fiber membranes and mono-dispersed suspensions of (negatively charged) polystyrene latex and (positively charged) melamine particles at various concentrations. It was observed that the overall streaming potential coefficient increased in absolute value with the deposited latex quantity, whereas it decreased and changed of sign during the filtration of melamine suspensions. By considering a resistance-in-series model, the streaming potential coefficient of the single deposit ($SP_d$) was deduced from the electrokinetic and hydraulic measurements. The independence of $SP_d$ with respect to growth kinetics validates the measurement method and the reliability of the proposed procedure for calculating $SP_d$. It was found that $SP_d$ levelled off much more quickly when filtration was performed through the slit channel. This different behaviour could result from a non-uniform distribution of the deposit thickness along the membrane given that the position of measuring electrodes is different between the two cells.

  • In automotive applicatons or water vehicles, the polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell(PEMFC) stack is keep moving while their operation. Especially the inclination environment can take a effect to fuel cell stack perfromance, because this condition can cause a bad effect to water exhaust of fuel cell stack. In this study, a large scale stack(over 100kW power) is inclined upto 30 degree in lengthwise and crosswise using stack lift equipment. And the stack is operated in 10~100% load. No significant change has appeared in crosswise inclined condition and lenthwise low angle. But in lenthwise large angle tilting condition, the fuel cell performance has significantly decreased. And this performance decrease is aggravated in low load. An active water exhaust device is applied to the stack to prevent the performance decrease. And in lenthwise large angle tilting condition, this device cause a good effect to fuel cell stack performance.

  • 본 연구는 Si 미립자를 함유한 반도체 세정폐수의 평판막을 이용한 한외여과특성을 검토하였다. 평판막의 투과유속은 시간이 경과함에 따라 점차 감소하는 경향을 나타냈으며, 이현상은 막표면에 형성된 케익층의 증가 및 기공막힘에 기인한다. 흐름형태에 따른 투과유속은 cross flow가 dead-end flow의 약 1.4배 높았다. Si 미립자에 의한 막오염을 제거하는데는 역세법이 sweeping법 보다 우수하였다. 막오염으로 인한 투과유속의 감소는 질소가스로 역세척하여 초기투과유속의 약 85% 정도 회복되었다. 평판막을 이용한 cross flow 공정의 용질배제율은 약 90%였으며, 투과수증의 Si 미립자의 크기는 평균 70 nm였다.

혼합입자 용액의 정밀여과막 오염특성 (Fouling Characteristics in the Microfiltration of Mixed Particle Suspensions)

  • Kaolin, bentonite, starch 및 PMMA의 단일 또는 혼합 입자용액을 정밀여과막이 장착된 dead-end 형 Amicon 여과셀에서 투과 실험하였으며 그 결과는 오염 특성을 규명하기 위하여 등압여과 모델에 적용하였다. 동일한 양으로 혼합한 kaolin/starch 입자의 0.1 wt% 혼합용액에 경우, 각각 입자의 평균 투과유속보다 30% 정도 낮았다. 그러나 kaolin보다 훨씬 큰 PMMA와의 혼합 입자용액의 경우에 투과유속은 kaolin과 PMMA의 평균보다 10% 정도 높았다. Bentonite와 PMMA 또는 starch의 혼합 용액일 경우, 혼합 입자에 의한 투과유속 향상효과는 kaolin에 비하여 훨씬 적게 나타났다. 또한 동일 양으로 혼합한 kaolin/starch 용액의 농도를 변화시킬 경우, 막오염 저항은 0.05 wt%에서 최소이었다.

서천 해역 김 양식장의 갯병에 관한 연구 (Diseases of the cultivated Porphyra at seocheon area)

  • 본 연구는 서천해역 김 양식장의 월별, 어장별 김 갯병 발생 현황 및 김 엽체 사세포 비율을 관찰하고 결과를 분석하여 우리나라 양식 김 갯병에 관한 자료를 축적하고자 시도되었다. 서천해역의 12개 김 양식장에서 2008년 11월부터 2009년 3월까지 5개월 동안 매월 1회씩 김발을 채취하였다. 연구 결과 갯병 발병율은 거의 대부분의 정점에서 양식 초기에는 낮았지만 후반기로 갈수록 높아졌다. 이 해역에서 가장 빈발하는 질병은 규조류 부착증이었으며, 그 다음으로는 의사흰갯병이었다. 규조류 부착증이 가장 높게 발병한 시기는 양식 초기인 11월이었으며, 12월에는 발병율이 가장 낮았고 이어 점차 증가하는 양상을 보였다. 김 엽체에 부착된 규조류는 대부분이 Licmophora sp. 이었다. 양식 초기인 11월에는 녹반병과 의사흰갯병의 빈도가 높았지만, 양식 후반기로 갈수록 두 질병의 발생율이 점차 감소하는 대신에 호상균병 발생 빈도가 높아졌다. 연구 해역 사세포율은 지점에 따라 다소차이가 있었지만 전체적으로는 양식 후기에 높았고, 예외적으로 양식장 거의 정중앙에 위치한 St. 9와 내만에 위치한 St. 11, St. 12는 양식 초기에 사세포 비율이 높았다. 이러한 김 엽체의 사세포율 변화는 영양분 공급과 조류소통 등 여러 가지 요인이 관계하고 있지만 보다 더 정확한 요인은 환경 요인 조사를 통하여 밝혀질 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.
