The sensorless AC motor drive is a popular topic of study due to the cost and reliability of speed and position sensors. Most sensorless algorithms are based on the mathematical modeling of motors including electrical variables such as phase current and voltage. Therefore, the accuracy of such variables largely affects the performance of the sensorless AC motor drive. However, the output voltage of the SVPWM-VSI, which is widely used in sensorless AC motor drives, has considerable errors. In particular, the SVPWM-VSI is error-prone in the low speed range because the constant DC link voltage causes poor resolution in a low output voltage command and the output voltage is distorted due to dead time and voltage drop. This paper investigates a novel high-performance strategy for overcoming these problems in a sensorless ac motor drive. In this paper, a variation of the DC link voltage and a direct compensation for dead time and voltage drop are proposed. The variable DC link voltage leads to an improved resolution of the inverter output voltage, especially in the motor's low speed range. The direct compensation for dead time and voltage drop directly calculates the duration of the switching voltage vector without the modification of the reference voltage and needs no additional circuits. In addition, the proposed strategy reduces a current ripple, which deteriorates the accuracy of a monitored current and causes torque ripple and additional loss. Simulation and experimentation have been performed to verify the proposed strategy.

In a PWM inverter-fed IPMSM (Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) drive, a dead time is inserted to prevent a breakdown of switching device caused by the short-circuit of DC link. This distorts the inverter output voltage resulting in a current distortion and torque ripple. In addition to the dead time, nonlinearity exists in switching devices of the PWM inverter, which is generally dependent on operating conditions such as the temperature, DC link voltage, and current. The voltage disturbance caused by the dead time and inverter nonlinearity directly influences on the inverter output performance, and it is known to be more severe at low speed. In this paper, a new compensation scheme for the dead time and inverter nonlinearity under the parameter variation is proposed for a PWM inverter-fed IPMSM drive. The overall system is implemented using DSP TMS320F28335 and the validity of the proposed algorithm is verified through the simulation and experiments.
In this paper, a map-matching (MM) algorithm which combines an estimated position with digital road data is proposed. The presented algorithm using a virtual track is appropriate for a MEMS-based pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR) system, which can be used in mobile devices. Most of the previous MM algorithms are for car navigation systems and GPS-based navigation system, so existing MM algorithms are not appropriate for the pure DR-based pedestrian navigation system. The biggest problem of previous MM algorithms is that they cannot determine the correct road segment (link) due to the DR characteristics. In DR-based navigation system, the current position is propagated from the previous estimated position. This means that the MM result can be placed on a wrong link when MM algorithm fails to decide the correct link at once. It is a critical problem. Previous algorithms never overcome this problem because they did not consider pure DR characteristics. The MM algorithm using the virtual track is proposed to overcome this problem with improved accuracy. Performance of the proposed MM algorithm was verified by experiments.
Recently PWM invertor is broadly used for control of induction motor. The invertor is able to generate sin wave current from high speed switching power device such as IGBT. However the invertor is disturbed by dead time inevitably needed to prevent a short of the DC link voltage, and the dead time mainly causes distortions of the output current. In this Paper the dead time compensation method which corrects the voltage error from dead time, and Min Max algorithm enlarging the operating voltage of PWM were Proposed. This method can be implemented by software programming without any additional hardware circuit. The proposed algorithms were implemented by DSP(TMS320C31, 40MHz) and FPGA(QL2007, Quick Logic) described in VHDL. and applied to 3 phase induction motor(2.2 KW) to show the superior performance
This paper proposes the dead time effect compensation algorithm using proportional resonant controller in pulse width modulation inverter of motor drive. To avoid a short circuit in the dc link, the dead time of the switch device is surely required. However, the dead time effect causes the phase current distortions, torque pulsations, and degradations of control performance. To solve these problems, the output current including ripple components on the synchronous reference frame and stationary reference frame are analyzed in detail. As a results, the distorted synchronous d-and q-axis currents contain the 6th, 12th, and the higher harmonic components due to the influence of dead time effect. In this paper, a new dead time effect compensation algorithm using proportional resonant controller is also proposed to reduce the output current harmonics due to the dead time and nonlinear characteristics of the switching devices. The proposed compensation algorithm does not require any additional hardware and the offline experimental measurements. The experimental results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed dead time effect compensation algorithm.

In a voltage source inverter, the dead time is necessary to prevent short circuits in the dc link. The dead time effect appears as a distortion of output voltages and currents. In recent years, the dead time compensation methods have been investigated in many literatures. This paper presents not the dead time compensation by sensing and calculation but the dead time elimination. The proposed inverter system doesn't need to sense load current and to calculate dead time. Adding some transformers to each leg, dead times in the inverter system are eliminated automatically. The proposed method is analyzed on each mode and verified through simulation results.

In this paper, we propose a Correction Dead Reckoning (CDR) solution using correction information such as Map Matching FeedBack (MMFB) in an underground parking lot. In order to correct position errors in an underground parking lot, vehicle position and heading errors are corrected using MMFB information in road link properties. The proposed method was applied to an in-vehicle navigation system and tested. The experimental results show that the proposed robust dead reckoning solution corrects Dead Reckoning (DR) position errors that occur when driving for a long time in an underground parking lot.

In this paper, a simple scheme compensating for the effect of dc-link ripple voltages on output voltage of two-leg and three-phase PWM inverters is proposed, where single-phase half-bridge PWM convertor and two-leg inverter are used. The voltage at neutral point of the dc-link is controlled so that the upper-half of do-link voltage is equal to the lower-half voltage in average concept. However, the effect of the do-link ripple voltage results in the inverter output voltage and current distortion. This effect can be eliminated by introducing a compensation voltage in switching time calculation. Also, the inverter dead time should be compensated for sinusoidal output waveform. The proposed scheme has been verified by experimental results which were obtained from the V/F constant operation of the induction motor fed by two-leg inverter.
