The objective of this paper is to present abacuses obtained from a parametric study of deep-lined tunnels using a numerical finite element model. This numerical model was implemented in software GEOMEC91, which is a two-dimensional axisymmetric model that considers the progress of excavation and the placing of the lining through the activation and deactivation of elements. It is adopted a step of excavation constant (1/3 of radius), constant velocity and circular cross section along the tunnel axis. It is used for rock mass a viscoplastic constitutive law with von-Mises criterion of viscoplasticity without hardening whose deformation rate over time is given by the Bingham model. The lining uses a linear elastic constitutive law. In total are 1716 analysis presented in 60 abacuses that show the value of ultimate convergence ($U_{eq}$) due to tunneling speed. In addition, it is shown an example of the use of the abacuses to determine the ultimate convergence ($U_{eq}$) of the tunnel and pressure ($P_{eq}$) on the lining.

Immobilizing microalgae cells in a hyphal matrix can simplify harvest while producing novel mycoalgae products with potential food, feed, biomaterial, and renewable energy applications; however, limited quantitative information to describe the process and its applicability under various conditions leads to difficulties in comparing across studies and scaling-up. Here, we demonstrate the immobilization of both active and heat-deactivated marine diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum (UTEX 466) using different loadings of fungal pellets (Aspergillus sp.) and model the process through kinetics and equilibrium models. Active P. tricornutum cells were not required for the fungal-assisted immobilization process and the fungal isolate was able to immobilize more than its original mass of microalgae. The Freundlich isotherm model adequately described the equilibrium immobilization characteristics and indicated increased normalized algae immobilization (g algae removed/g fungi loaded) under low fungal pellet loadings. The kinetics of algae immobilization by the fungal pellets were found to be adequately modeled using both a pseudo-second order model and a model previously developed for fungal-assisted algae immobilization. These results provide new insights into the behavior and potential applications of fungal-assisted algae immobilization.
Pentamethylcyclopentadienyltitanium trichloride, bis(cyclopentadienyl)titanium dichloride ($Cp_2TiCl_2$), and bis(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)titanium dichloride were used in the polymerization of styrene without the aid of Group I-III cocatalysts. The properties of the resulting polymer indicated that polymerization was more controlled than in thermal polymerization. The kinetic studies indicated that a lower level of termination is present and that the polymer chain can be extended by adding an additional monomer. To elucidate the mechanism of polymerization, a series of experiments was performed. All results supported the involvement of a radical mechanism in the polymerization using $Cp_2TiCl_2$. The possibility of atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) mechanism was investigated by isolating the intermediate species. We could confirm the activation step from the reaction of 1-PEC1 with $Cp_2TiCl$ by detecting the coupling product of the generated active radicals. However, the reversible deactivation reaction competes with other side reactions, and it detection was difficult with our model system.
To remove sulfur dioxide from flue gas by the method of metal oxide, copper powder of average diameter $2.4\mu\textrm{m}$and $51\mu\textrm{m}$ were used in a fixed bed reactor over a, temperature range of $300^{\circ}C-500^{\circ}C$. Copper oxide reacts with sulfur dioxide producing cupric sulfate and it can be regenerated from the latter by using hydrogen or methane. Experimental results showed that the reaction rate was increased by the increase of reaction temperature in the range of $300^{\circ}C-422^{\circ}C$ and the removal efficiency of sulfur dioxide was high in case of small size copper particle. However the removal efficiency was decreased at higher temperature due to decomposition of cupric sulfate. The rate controlling step of this reaction was chemical reaction and deactivating catalysts model can be applied to this reaction. The rate constants for this reaction and deactivation are as follows : k=8,367exp(-10,298/RT) Kd=2.23exp(-8,485/RT)
The system which employs iron, palladium, molecular oxygen and hydrogen as a model mono-oxygenase, has been investigated to develop a new method for selective cyclohexane oxidation uner mild conditions. This system provides much higher yield and selectivity for the formation of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone compared to that of the existing industrial method. When the catalytic system, FeCl2-Pd/alumina, was employed, the oxidation system required acetone as a solvent to be efficient and acidifying the solvent by a little addition of acetic acid or HCl made the system more efficient. The Pd catalyst was recyclable without a significant deactivation but the recycling of ferrous chloride showed the decrease in the activity. On the other hand, the heterogeneous catalytic system, Pd/Fe2O3 could be recovered easily and reused after drying treatment.

In order to investigate the effect of gallotannin treatment to ceramide-containing fabrics on atopic skin diseases, the agglomeration of standard protein BSA and the deactivation of model enzyme were examined. The gallotannin treated on ceramide-containing fabrics precipitated the standard protein, BSA, and therefore deactivated the model enzyme by 70% at 6% treatment concentration. Wash durability should be improved after around 5 cycles of washing. Clinical test of the gallotannin-treated fabrics was carried out on mice for two test items, transepidermal water loss assay and severity score of diseased skin of mice. The results showed significant level of improvement of atopic skin diseases compared with the negative controled.
In autothermal reforming reaction, oxygen to carbon ratio (OCR) and steam to carbon ratio (SCR) are significant factors, which control temperature and carbon deposition into the reactor. The OCR is more sensitive than the SCR to affect the temperature distribution and reforming efficiency. In conventional operation, hydrocarbon fuel, steam, and oxygen was homogeneously mixed and injected into the reactor in order to get hydrogen-rich gas. The temperature was abruptly raised due to fast oxidation reaction in the former part of the reactor. Deactivation of packed catalysts can be accelerated there. In the present study, therefore, the effect of the oxygen distribution is introduced and investigated to suppress the carbon deposition and to maintain the reactor in the mild operating temperature (e.g., $700{\sim}800^{\circ}C$). In order to investigate the effect numerically, the following models are adopted; heterogeneous reaction model and two-medium model for heat balance.
Theoretical analysis of HF chemical laser models are performed through chemical reaction kinetics, gain process and stimulated emission process. A chemical laser of F+$H_2$ nonchain reaction is investigated through V-R transitions of excited HF for vibrational levels up to v = 3 and rate equations including nonchain pumping and deactivation. On this analysis, harmonic and anharmonic vibrational levels are considered separately and the results of the corresponding power calculations are showed very small difference between the two. Output powers are calculated with variation of temperature and initial concentrations of $H_2$. A HF chemical laser of $H_2$+$F_2$ chain reaction is also simulated with a premixed initial condition. Results of present model calculations are satisfactory through comparison with detailed calculations reported by others.

Biomass gasification is a promising technology for producing a fuel gas which is useful for power generation systems. In biomass gasification processes, tar formation often causes some problems such as pipeline plugging. Thus, proper tar treatment is necessary. So far, nickel (Ni)-based catalysts have been intensively studied for the catalytic tar removal. However, the deactivation of Ni-based catalysts takes place because of coke deposition and sintering of Ni metal particles. To overcome these problems, we have been using ruthenium (Ru)-based catalyst for tar removal. It is reported by Okada et al., that a Ru/$Al_2O_3$ catalyst is very effective for preventing the carbon deposition during the steam reforming of hydrocarbons. Also, this catalyst is more active than the Ni-based catalyst at a low steam to carbon ratio (S/C). Benzene was used for the tar model compound because it is the main constituent of biomass tar and also because it represents a stable aromatic structure apparent in tar formed in biomass gasification processes. The steam reforming process transforms hydrocarbons into gaseous mixtures constituted of carbon dioxide ($CO_2$), carbon monoxide (CO), methane ($CH_4$) and hydrogen ($H_2$).
The purpose of this study is to establish and propose a post-diagnosis checklist for the revitalization of domestic regional co-brands that have not been activated despite many strengths. First, I looked into the brand revitalization methodology through prior researches and among them, referring to the cause-remedies model, the cause of the deactivation of the co-brand and the currently used revitalization method were examined through case studies and expert interviews. Regarding the currently used method, the reason for using the method was inferred, and the factors corresponding to the cause and effect were found and categorized in the inferred sentence, and the corresponding detailed items were set and the checklist items were presented. Although this study has a limitation in that there is no practical checklist verification, it is expected that a specific activation plan will be presented through verification of future studies.
