Integration and standardization of the related regulations and guidelines are necessary to evaluate a CFMS in a systematic manner. In this study, a hierachically categorized evaluation checklist was developed by collecting and structuring human factors issues listed in the various regulations, design requirements, and technical report. A PC-based database management system was developed to update and review the evaluation results. Standard interpretation examples, evaluation guidelines, and sample evaluation formats were also designed and integrated into the database system to reduce discrepancy in evaluation.

This paper suggests a contingent perspective for analyzing information systems issues of the Korean firms. The contingent perspective includes such corporate characteristics as industry, organizational size, strategy, and value-added application function. This research surveyed 119 corporations in manufacturing, banking, distribution, and construction industries. Among those samples 104 data of corporate IS managers turned out to be statistically valid. As a result, those issues are ranked as the most urgent and important IS issues: strategic IS planning, system integration, application of database, process standardization, and network planning and implementation. Furthermore, factor analysis says that thirty issues to be surveyed are to be grouped into seven factors such as IS planning, user/education, database, applications of IT, system management, distributed computing technology, and network applications. It also found through Pearson correlation and ANOVA that organizational characteristics highly influences the IS issues the corporations face.

데이터의 통합과 공유 환경을 위해 탄생한 DBMS는 그 규모가 계속 커지고 있으며 형태도 복잡해지고 있다. 또한 Database가 네트워크 상에서 분산되어 있을 때, 제품이나 플랫폼이 다를 경우에는 서로간의 데이터를 공유하기가 어렵다 CORBA는 이종의 분산된 환경에서 여러 종류의 응용 프로그램들이 서로 통합될 수 있는 표준 분산 객체 기술이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 특징을 가진 CORBA를 이용하여 여러 종류의 이질적인 데이터베이스 시스템을 논리적으로 통합시켜, 사용자가 동일한 관점에서 다양한 형태와 성질을 가진 정보를 접근할 수 있도록 해주는 것을 목표로 한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 CORBA의 기술과 JDBC, ODBC를 이용하여 분산된 DBMS을 하나로 통합할 수 있는 환경을 구현해 보았다.

This paper discusses a set of critical requirements in building and using a shared, integrated information management system for power distribution management and control. It then proposes a modem, object-oriented information system model for building such a system based on the current state of arts in database, GIS, and WWW technologies. The key of the proposal is that the shared database system should be the basis of integration efforts in power distribution management and control. A small-scale prototype is being developed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model.

As database become more variable and multimedia, the integration between conventional library based on printed matter and digital library on IT makes it accelerated that the changes in today's information circumstances. Due to more leisure time modern people who get intellectual and interested in variety so they need continuing education, intellectual satisfaction and cultural life. Consequently today's public library expands to become a source of every kind of information, an educational facility and community facility to fulfill the cultural needs. On the assumption above, this study aims at offering database for planning public library that meets the needs for multifunctional library through analyzing space, structure, and character of modern public libraries and chooses 8 cases in Japan provide both primary and additional functions. Quantitative data from blueprints, websites and publications has been collected to analyze the space arrangement corresponding with the functional characteristics.

Useful data being distributed over several systems, we have a problem in accessing and utilizing them. Recognizing this problem, researchers have proposed two concepts as solutions to the problem, multidatabase and data warehouse. The one provides a virtual view over the distributed data, and the latter is a materialized view of it. Recently, more attention has been paid to the latter, which is a single of distributed database, collected along a time dimension. So, the major issues in building a data warehouse are 1) how to define a global schema for the data warehouse, 2) how to capture changes from local databases, and 3) how to represent time-varying values of data item. This paper presents an integrated approach to these issues, borrowing the research results from such areas as multidatabase, active databases and temporal databases.

One of the major components of any pervasive system is its proactive behavior. Various models have been developed to provide system wide changes which would enable proactive behavior. A major drawback of these approaches is that they do not address the need to make use of existing applications without modifying the applications. To overcome this drawback, a middleware architecture called 'Concord' is proposed. Concord is based on a simple model which consists of Lookup Server and Database. The rewards for this simple model are many. First, Concord uses the existing computing infrastructure. Second, Concord standardizes the interfaces for all services and platforms. Third, new services can be added dynamically without any need for reconfiguration. Finally, Concord consists of Database that can maintain and publish the active set of available resources. Thus Concord provides a solid system for integration of various entities to provide seamless connectivity and enable proactive behavior.

지금까지 질의 결과에 대한 프리젠테이션은 일반적으로 외부 툴이나 리포트 작성기를 통해 이루어지고 있는데, 프리젠테이션을 작성하는 방법이나 저장 방법 등이 표준화되어 있지 않기 때문에 다른 응용에서 질의 결과를 사용하는 데 많은 어려움이 따른다. 따라서 멀티미디어 데이터를 질의하는 질의어에서 표준화된 방법으로 프리젠테이션을 정의할 수 있는 방법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) 의 멀티미디어 프리젠테이션 표준인 SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) 2.0 을 기반으로 SQL을 확장하여 멀티미디어 데이터에 대한 사용자가 질의와 질의결과에 대한 프리젠테이션 작성을 원활히 할 수 있도록 한다.

As the significance of quality in the sense of customer satisfaction is growing, the management of quality becomes one of the main interests in the manufacturing systems research. This paper presents the concept of quality-driven CIM(Computer Integrated Manufacturing) system which is composed of a business process domain and a quality domain. In the business process domain, business functions are integrated by conventional design and manufacturing databases on the one hand, and an integrated quality system is interlinked to them via several quality modules on the other hand. Quality information model connects the business process domain with the quality domain where various types of quality data are stored in the form of quality database. This framework helps a manufacturing enterprise to implement the quality-driven CIM system to achieve its final objective "customer satisfaction".ion".uot;.

Manufacturing companies should perform process planning and its evaluation concurrently with new product developments so that they can be highly competitive in the modern market. Process planners should make decisions in the manner of concurrent and collaborative engineering in order to reduce the manufacturing preparation time and cost when developing new products. Automated generation of analysis models from the integrated database, which contains process and material information, reduces time to prepare analyses and makes the models reliable. In this research, we developed a web-based system for concurrent and collaborative system for production flow analysis, using web, database, and simulation technology. An integrated database is designed to automatically generate analysis models from process and material plans without reworking the data. This system enables process planners to evaluate their decision fast and share their opinions with others easily. With this system, it is possible to save time and cost for assembly process and material planning, and reliability of process plans can be improved
