마인드 툴이란 학생들이 그들이 아는 것을 표현할 때 분석적이고, 비판적인 고수준의 사고를 이끌어줄 수 있는 도구를 말한다. 데이터베이스는 산업적인 활용에는 많은 연구가 진행되었지만 교육적인 활용에 대한 연구는 아주 미미하다. 학생들이 데이터베이스를 구축하는 과정에서 질의를 하고 분류를 하고 설계를 하고 보고서를 쓰면서 학생들은 조직, 분석, 종합, 판단 등의 사고 기술을 증진시킬 수 있다. 이 논문은 마인드 툴로서의 데이터베이스의 교육적인 활용에 대해 쓰고자 한다.

클라우드 환경에서 기업은 의사결정이나 기업의 정책을 결정하기 위해 데이터 통합 및 분석이 필요하다. 그러나 이 환경에서 새로운 시스템이 추가되면 데이터 통합 측면에서 기존 시스템이 가진 이질적인 특성 때문에 많은 비용과 시간이 필요로 하게 된다. 따라서 본 논문에서 멀티 데이터베이스 서비스를 위하여 DBaaS 허브 시스템을 제안한다. 이러한 DBaaS는 서로 다른 데이터베이스를 요구할 수도 있으며, 연관성이 있는 서비스를 위하여 데이터를 통합해야할 필요가 있다. DBaaS의 데이터 상호운용성 문제를 해결하기 위해 온톨로지를 이용한 메타 쿼리를 제안한다. 메타 쿼리는 실제 데이터에 접근하기 위한 쿼리가 아닌 상위의 쿼리이다. 이는 실제 데이터베이스에 접근할 때 온톨로지를 통하여 변환된 질의로 접근함으로써 데이터 통합을 기할 수 있다. 또한 메타 데이터를 이용하여 문서 지향 데이터베이스 시스템을 구축한다.

정보기술의 발달로 컴퓨터과학에서 다루어지는 주제에 대한 다양한 교수-학습 자료들이 개발되어 왔다. 자료구조, 운영체제, 네트워크, 컴퓨터구조 등에 관련된 교수 학습 자료들은 많이 연구되고 있으나, 데이터베이스 분야는 다른 분야에 비해 미비하다. 데이터베이스 관련 주요 주제들에는 데이터 모델, DB 설계, 정규화, SQL, 질의 처리 기법, 병행제어 기법, 회복 기법 등이 있는데 이들 중 병행제어 기법과 회복 기법은 DBMS의 다른 기능들과 복합적으로 연관되어 있어 학습자들이 학습하는데 어려워하는 주제이다. 학습자들이 이러한 주제들을 보다 쉽게 학습할 수 있도록 하기 위해서는 이들 기법과 관련된 DBMS의 기능들과의 상호작용을 시각화하여 제공할 수 있는 교수-학습 자료가 보다 효과적이다. 본 연구에서는 2PLP 기반 병행제어 과정을 효과적으로 학습할 수 있도록 지원하는 시각화 시뮬레이터를 개발하였다. 제안하는 시뮬레이터는 학습자가 직접 트랜잭션을 작성할 수 있게 하고, 작성된 트랜잭션들을 2PLP에 따라 실행되는 과정을 학습자들에게 시각적으로 보여줌으로써 학습자의 참여를 유도하고, 흥미를 유발하여 2PLP 기반 병행제어에 대한 학습을 효과적으로 수행할 수 있도록 하였다.

The main objective of this research is to develop an experimental educational facility management information system that will be used for maintaining existing educational facilities in the elementary, junior high, and high schools. The development is based on the nationwide development plan of the education administration information system. The system developed is accomplished by use of Map-application Information System(MAPIS), an applied commercial software that combines Geographic Information System(GIS) with existing Information and Communication Technologies(ICT) such as Database system, Multimedia methodology, and Internet system. In order to figure out the features to be improved in the system developed, the research interviewed the educational facilities management in the Ministry of Education and P Local Education Authority. The authors suggest the functional improvement of the system based on the interview results.

The purpose of this paper is to design Speech Database for Korean pronunciation education. For this purpose, I investigated types of speech errors of Korean-learners, made texts for recording, which involves all types of speech errors, and showed how to gather speech data and how to tag their informations. It's natural that speech data should include Korean-learners' speech and Korean people's speech, because Speech DB that I try to develop is for teaching Korean pronunciation to foreigners. So this DB should have informations about speakers and phonetic informations, which are about phonetic value of segments and intonation of sentences. The intonation of sentence varies with the type of sentence, the structure of prosodic units, the length of a prosodic unit and so on. For this reason, Speech DB must involve tags about these informations.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect on the achievement of knowledge by animation-based learning program(ALP) in environmental education. The topic covered by ALP was "meaning and kinds of alien animals and plants". Four classes were selected and divided into two groups. The one was control group, and the other was treatment. 121 female the eighth graders(60 control and 61 ALP students) were piloted. Whereas control students learned using Powerpoint presentation-based materials, ALP students learned using web-based flash animations and animated database with images and movie clips. The score of knowledge achievement of ALP students was compared to control group students using ANCOVA, and then the score of ALP students was significantly higher than that of control group students(p<0.05). The ALP using animations and animated database was effective on the understanding of the alien animals and plants.

본 연구에서는 중학교 및 고등학교의 지구과학 내용에 대한 멀티미디어 학습 프로그램을 개발하였다. 개발된 학습프로그램은 HTML 형식이며 텍스트, 사진, 그림, 동영상 등 다양한 내용물들로 구성되어 있다. 그리고 크게 학습 내용, 용어사전, 생활 과학, 탐구 활동, 영상 자료, 형성 평가 등 6가지 데이터베이스 요소들로 구성되어 있다. 본 연구에서 개발된 멀티미디어 학습 프로그램을 교사와 학생들에게 적용해본 결과 긍정적인 반응을 보였다. 이 프로그램은 현재 공주대학교 과학교육연구소 인터넷 흠페이지에서 무료로 제공하고 있다.

정보화시대에 학생들에게 요구되는 가장 중요한 기술 중에 하나는 많은 양의 정보를 조작하는 능력으로, 데이터베이스는 이러한 기술을 가르치는데 이상적이다. 데이터베이스 기반 마인드 툴은 지식을 표현할 때 분석적이고 비판적인 사고를 한 수 있도록 하는 도구로 데이터베이스를 이용하는 것을 말한다. 데이터베이스는 많은 분야에서 사용이 되고 있지만 아직까지 교과교육에서 활용되는 사례는 많지 않으나 그 가능성은 무궁무진하다. 이 논문에서는 교과교육에서 데이터베이스 기반 마인드 틀을 사용할 수 있는 내용과 그 방안을 분석해보고 구체적으로 적용해 보고자한다.

The Ewha Music Database (EMDB) is an online database comprised of primary source materials related to music education from East Asia during the modern era (1880 to 1945) when Korea, Japan, and China were geopolitically and culturally intertwined. We developed the incipit search in EMDB as an embedded tool. This is the first attempt in Korea to implement a unique search function of musical data using alphabets of musical notes. Unlike in traditional search system that uses general literature information search conditions, such as author, title, publisher, year, number of pages, etc., it offers a new way of searching a musical piece/work and sheet music. This study confirms that digital information technology is an important methodology for research of music culture as a field of humanities.

Nowadays, portable digital cameras such as smart phone cameras are being popularly used for entertainment and visual information recording. Given a database of geo-tagged images, a visual location recognition system can determine the place depicted in a query photo. One of the most common visual location recognition approaches is the bag-of-words method where local image features are clustered into visual words. In this paper, we propose a new bag-of-words-based visual location recognition algorithm using time-series streetview database. The proposed algorithm selects only a small subset of image features which will be used in image retrieval process. By reducing the number of features to be used, the proposed algorithm can reduce the memory requirement of the image database and accelerate the retrieval process.
