The study aims to compare the effects of employing investment deposits (joint and specified investment deposits) in Islamic banks, and investment deposits (term deposits and deposits with notification) at conventional banks, on shareholders' profitability, represented by the earnings per share (EPS), in light of operational profits as a controlling variable. Data related to the study variables was collected from the annual financial reports published by the study sample banks, during the period (2009-2018). The study relies on multiple regression to test the hypotheses of the study. The high adjusted R2 to explain the change in EPS for Islamic banks model as compared to conventional banks, is a result of the high difference between investment deposits (specified and joint) at Jordanian Islamic banks and investment deposits (term deposits and deposits with notification) at Jordanian conventional banks. The study found that it is important for the managements of Islamic banks to adopt a uniform method to combine speculative funds, in order to develop and improve shareholders' profitability. The study recommended Islamic banks to follow practical, methodological and transparent approaches to calculate the rates of Murabaha profit margins between shareholders and depositors, while also taking into consideration some of the issues which could be harmful for the competition between Islamic and conventional banks.

This research aims to examine the model of investor herding behavior in making investment decisions in the Indonesian capital market, which is influenced by social and information impacting on the value of the Book Value Per Share (BVPS). The latest stock market conditions show that most investors make the same error pattern in making investment decisions that result in losses. The experiment involves two independent variables, namely, information about BVPS and social influence. This study used a 2×2 factorial design laboratory experimental method. Data collection was carried out through treatment of a sample of 100 individual investors listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Univariate Two-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) statistical tool was used to test the independent variable on the dependent variable. Research results showed that the social influence originating from expert investors is more influential than the Book Value Per Share (BVPS) information on the behavior of herding investors in making investment decisions. These findings suggest that investors know their psychological factors, thereby increasing self-control and investment analysis skills. Further research can use psychological bias and other indicators of accounting relevant information such as Earning Per Share (EPS) to test herding behavior in investment decision making in the capital market.

Online Word-of-Mouth communication, or eWOM, has dramatically changed the way people network, interact, and share knowledge. Studies have examined why consumers choose to share knowledge online, especially online product reviews, as well as the motivations of individuals to share product ideas online. However, the role of gender in shaping the motivation and types of knowledge shared online has been given little consideration. Using concepts from Social Exchange Theory and the Theory of Reasoned Action, we address this research gap by developing and testing a model of gender's influence on knowledge sharing in a social media context. A PLS analysis of survey data from 257 students indicates that reputation, altruism, and subjective norms are key motivators for knowledge sharing intention in social media. More importantly, that gender plays a moderating role within the motivation-knowledge sharing relationship. We also find that subjective norms have a greater impact on knowledge sharing with women than with men. Collectively, our research results highlight individualized factors for improving customer participation in external facing social media for marketing and product innovation.
This paper reviewed the main characteristics of Web 2.0 and discussed the possible applications related to National Geographic Information Systems. In general, Web 2.0 refers to a next generation World Wide Web environment that let people participate and share information and data. The recent examples using Web 2.0 with geo-spatial information are convincing us apply Web 2.0 into National Geographic Information Systems. In order to imply Web 2.0 into National Geographic Information Systems, we should consider not only technological advancements related to providing the services but also shifting the relationship between information provider(government agencies) and end-users. In other words, new platform should be provided to users so that users can easily create, share, and mash-up data, which was previously managed and owned only by government agencies. Successful integration Web 2.0 platform into National Geographic Information Systems require some important points such that; 1) the consideration for the data should be changed from closed and agency owned data to opened and shared data. 2) data standards should be established to integrate all data from different sources. 3) real change need to be happened rather than different naming on the same system.
CALS is a strategy to share integrated product data through a set of standards to achieve efficiencies in business and operational mission areas. In this research, we first studied current status for CALS standard and then analyzed the case of US DoD. The results can be summarized as implementing for two major standard in defense CALS system. They are STEP and XML. Our recommendations can be used to set direction for CALS standard implementation and standard selection process.

In recent days, people used to store and share the data with other users through the web storage services. It is more convenient for using the data, but it raise problems such as access control of stored data and privacy exposure to untrusted server. Searchable encryption is used to share the data securely in multi-user setting. Especially in the multi-user setting, the revoked users should not be able to search the data and access the stored data. That is, it should be considered the security from revoked users. However in the existing schemes, the revoked users can decrypt the shared data by passive attack. Proposed scheme is the secure searchable encryption that resolves the problem and guarantees the security for revoked users.
Purpose - 2013 to 2014 was a transitional situation in which China's Smartphone industry was fluctuating. So in this paper, we will look at the strategies and achievements of Xiaomi, a company that has emerged in this situation and topped the market share. In particular, the purpose of this paper is to analyze why Xiaomi, which is considered a copycat, was able to succeed in the smartphone market four years after entering the market and analyze its strategy. Research design and methodology - Various secondary data are to be used for this study. Using various newspaper articles as well as corporate reports, the company analyzes the transitional situation from 2013 to 2014 and the competitors together. Through these analyses, Xiaomi's strengths are selected objectively and analyzed to identify the factors that made Xiaomi successful. Results - After China's transitional shift in 2014, Xiaomi brought about a 152.3 percent share change over the previous year. In addition, it surpassed Samsung Electronics, which has been the industry's No. 1 player, in 2014, and achieved the No. 1 ranking with a 16 percent share. Xiaomi Mi4's phone had a strong point of maintaining low price while being loaded with high performance. Conclusions - Xiaomi's success is because its price and performance was excellent. Xiaomi's Mi4's specifications were not far behind its competitors', but it was very cheap compared to its competitors' prices. They also valued software and used talent-oriented human resource strategies. Plus, it created the 'Mifan' culture successfully and benchmarked the strengths of its competitors smartly.
In Southern Vietnam, the competition among Inland Clearance Depot (ICD) has resulted in deconcentration tendencies and shifting share situations. However, related research on Southern Vietnam ICDs in particular and ICDs in Vietnam in general has been extremely limited. Hence, In this study, empirical research is conducted on ICDs located in southern Vietnam from 2010 to 2017. The throughput volume data of ICDs is analyzed by concentration indicators, namely the concentration ratio (CR), the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI), the Gini coefficient, the Lorenz curve, and the shift share analysis (SSA). The results of adopting all the methodologies indicate that deconcentration was the mainstream trend for ICDs in Southern Vietnam during the period of 2010-2017. The findings provide insights into the process of container terminal development and have academic and managerial implications. The strengthening of the competitiveness of Vietnamese container ports and ICDs could affect the competing Southeast Asian neighbors by facilitating the port of more shipping companies.
This study empirically investigates the double jeopardy phenomenon in a Korean and a New Zealand context. The double jeopardy is that companies with a small market share tend to suffer not only smaller sales volumes but also suffer a lower price than the market leader. The research reported here analyses price and market share data for 14 categories of household goods in Korea and a smaller number in New Zealand. Analysis shows that, in Korea, leading brands do enjoy a price premium as predicted, of around 15%, but that there is little or no evidence of double jeopardy occurring in New Zealand. Based on this study, evidence suggests that market share is a strong valid strategic objective in the East.
Purpose - This study aimed to identify the effects of ownership structures on agency costs in internationally diversified firms listed on the KOSDAQ market. Design/methodology/approach - A total of 5,824 samples were finally selected and empirically analyzed for a total of nine years from 2011 to 2019, during which the International Accounting Standards had been mandatory for firms listed on the KOSDAQ market. Findings - The results of this study showed that the effects of ownership structures on the ratio of asset turnover are positive for the major share and foreign equity ratios of international diversified firms. Moreover, by selecting the ratio of entertainment expenses as a proxy for agency expenses, this study confirmed that the effects of the ownership structure of an international diversified entity on entertainment expenditure were determined to show a significantly negative relation to entertainment expenditure, thus indicating that the higher the ratio of major shareholders, the more appropriately control the expenditure of entertainment expenses through arbitrary private deviations of the management.Furthermore, considering the effect of the ownership structure on the expenditure of sales and administrative expenses as a proxy variable for agency costs, this study verified that the majority share ratio of international diversified firms was negative to the expenditure of sales and administrative expenses, confirming that the higher the share of major shareholders, the lower the selling and administrative costs, but insignificant. Finally, as a result of determining whether the ownership structure of an international diversified firm affects the holding of free cash, the majority share of this firm shows a significantly negative relation to the ratio of the holding of surplus cash, indicating that the higher the proportion of major shareholders, the more appropriately control the holding of the entity's free cash through arbitrary private deviance by the manager. Research implications or Originality - Major shareholders of an internationally diversified firm listed on the KOSDAQ market play a positive role in the firm's performance by properly controlling agency costs that may be incurred by the management.
