Objectives : To review and summarize the existing evidence on acupuncture treatment for cancer and cancer related symptoms. Methods: Literature searches were made through domestic and international databases. Data were extracted according to pre-defined criteria. The methodological quality was assessed using the Modified Jadad scale. Results: Seven studies were included. Two of the studies were high in methodological quality. One study concerning acupuncture treatment for cancerous dyspnea reported insignificant differences between the treatment group and placebo group. The other study concerning auricular acupuncture for cancer related pain showed significant pain relief compared with the control group. All the other studies were non-blinded or uncontrolled trials. Conclusion : The hypothesis that acupuncture may be effective for the treatment of cancer is not supported by the data in recent clinical trials. More accurately designed randomized control trials (RCT) are needed.
Objectives: This study aims to examine hypertension patients' quality of life by using the data of the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (1st year, 2016), identify the factors related to this, and utilize the results as basic data for intervention that can improve hypertension patients' quality of life. Methods: For the research subjects, this study extracted 1,531 patients who were diagnosed with hypertension by a doctor from the total sample of 8,150 participants of the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, and selected 1,072 patients with no missing value in the variables to be analyzed as the final research subjects. Then, this study used a backward elimination multiple regression analysis method that applied complex sample, to examine the factors related with the finally estimated quality of life. Results: The results of this study revealed that hypertension patients' quality of life was related with age, occupation, spouse, household income, weight gain, restriction of activity, subjected health status, perceived stress, and presence of comorbidity. The final model explained 37.0% of the variance (Wald F=30.012 p<.001). Conclusions: When an intervention program is implemented for the improvement of hypertension patients' quality of life in the future, it will be effective to construct the program according to age group, employment, marital status and household income. As for the program operation, patients should get help therefrom to control weight, facilitate activities and relieve their stress, and they should be also motivated to feel healthy. Furthermore, education should be offered so that they appropriately manage their underlying disease at an early stage.
Objectives: This study aims to examine diabetic patients' quality of life by using the data of the 8th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (1st year, 2019), identify the factors related to this, and utilize the results as basic data for intervention that can improve diabetic patients' quality of life. Methods: For the research subjects, this study extracted 624 patients who were diagnosed with Diabetes by a doctor from the total sample of 8,110 participants of the 8th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The SPSS(version25.0) program was used for the analysis of the collected data. Then, this study used a backward elimination multiple regression analysis method that applied complex sample, to examine the factors related with the finally estimated quality of life. Results: The results of this study revealed that diabetic patients' quality of life was related with gender, age, occupation, restriction of activity, subjected health status. The final model explained 35.7% of the variance (Wald F=28.210, p<.001). Conclusions: In order to improve the quality of life of diabetic patients, it would be desirable to provide differentiated management by developing a customized intervention strategy that takes into account gender, age, and occupation. When managing diabetic patients, the state, local governments, and hospitals should include content that prevents and copes with restrictions on activities that may occur due to disease. In addition, it is required to prepare a strategy to induce positive perception of the subject's own health status.
Objectives: This study aims to identify the effect between high school students' recognition of mental health on sleep quality to present basic data for better health. Methods: The study used data obtained through the 2007 online research on adolescents' health behaviors, targeting a total of 35,228 high school students (18,628 of male students and 16,600 of female students). Results: Seventy six point ninety six percent of the male respondents and 79.67% of female respondents answered their sleep quality was not satisfactory. The subjects who had stress showed significantly lower quality of sleep than those who answered they had no stress. For female students, those who answered they had intention to suicide had significantly lower quality of sleep than those who answered they did not have, but for male students, there was no significant relations between them. There were no significant relations between sense of dispair and sleep quality both for male and female subjects. Conclusion: Factors of mental health related with sleep quality were stress and intention of suicide. The more they had stress and intention of suicide, the significantly lower sleep quality was. Therefore, in order to improve sleep quality of high school students, it is suggested that management programs based on education and counselling with experts should be provided and further studies on other mental health factors and sleep quality should be conducted.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between quality of sleep and dental fear in implant surgery patients. Methods : A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 153 implant patients from December 2012 to February 2013 in dental clinics and hospitals in Busan and Changwon. Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis using SAS version 9.20. Results : The quality of sleep in the implant patients was $41.0{\pm}6.0$. The systemic diseases influenced on the quality of sleep and dental fear also affected the quality of sleep. Conclusions : The results of the analysis of a relationship between the fear perception of dental implant surgery patients and the quality of their sleep showed that the patients with systemic diseases, the patients with a fear by the physical stimulation relating to implant treatment showed the low quality of sleep.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Although the issues of singles' dietary style and quality of life are becoming important due to the increasing number of singles with economic power, little research has been conducted to date on singles' use of convenience food and quality of life in relation to their dietary style. Thus, the present study intends to provide basic data to improve the quality of life by determining the current status of the use of convenience food and explicating its relationship with quality of life through analyzing the dietary lifestyles of the singles. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The targets of this study were singles, identified as adults between the ages of 25 and 54, living alone, either legally or in actuality having no partner. A statistical analysis of 208 surveys from Seoul, respectively, was conducted using SPSS12.0 for Windows and SEM using AMOS 5.0 statistics package. RESULTS: The convenience-oriented was shown to have a significant positive effect on convenience food satisfaction. HMR satisfaction was found to have a significant effect on positive psychological satisfaction and the convenience-oriented was found to have a significant negative effect on all aspects of quality of life satisfaction. CONCLUSIONS: There must be persistent development of food industries considering the distinctive characteristics of the lives of singles in order to satisfy their needs and improve the quality of their lives.
Objectives: Because of the changing life style of Koreans, we have witnessed an increase of patients with back pain. The development of medical knowledge and technology has resulted in more numerous and better treatment methods. However, the outcomes of diverse treatments have been examined by using a few medicine-oriented measures like pain. This study aims at identifying the factors that influence the outcomes of back pain treatments by using two outcome measures (e.g., quality of life and pain). Methods: We used the questionnaire survey method for data collection. The questionnaires contained 5 categories (treatment methods, clinical conditions, exercise, quality of life and, socio-demographic characteristics). We interviewed 188 back pain patients. We used the regression analysis method to predict the quality of life or pain. Results: Surgery showed a statistically significant effect on the quality of life as well as pain. The illness period, age and exercise were turned out to be significant factors for both of the dependent variables. The social class and surgery methods showed a statistically significant effect solely on the quality of life. Conclusions: In choosing the surgical methods, doctors need to provide detailed explanations on the quality of life outcomes for each of the surgical methods to the patients.

This study proposes an integrated technique of Genetic Algorishim (GA) and Geographic Information System (GIS) for designing the water quality monitoring networks. To develop solution scheme of the integrated system, fitness functions are defined by the linear combination of five criteria which stand for the operation objectives of water quality monitoring stations. The criteria include representativeness of a river system, compliance with water quality standards, supervision of water use, surveillance of pollution sources and examination of water quality changes. The fitness level is obtained through calculations of the fitness functions and input data from GIS. To find the most appropriate parameters for the problems, the sensitivity analysis is performed for four parameters such as number of generations, population sizes, probability of crossover, and probability of mutation. Using the parameters resulted from the sensitivity analysis, the developed system proposed 110 water quality monitoring stations in the Nakdong River. This study demonstrates that the integrated technique of GA and GIS can be utilized as a decision supporting tool in optimized design for a water quality monitoring network.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to explore how service quality in specialized hospitals influences customer loyalty under the mediating effects of customer trust and customer value. Methods: A statistical review was done based on the survey results of patients who had used a specialized hospital in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. A total of 209 questionnaires were collected. After data collection, an empirical analysis was performed using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 software. Results: Interaction quality (β = 0.254, p < 0.05) and result quality (β = 0.179, p < 0.05) significantly influenced customer trust, while physical environmental quality (β = 0.121, p > 0.05) did not. Customer trust (β = 0.571, p < 0.01) influenced customer value (β = 0.136, p < 0.05) and customer value influenced customer loyalty. In addition, customer confidence (β = 0.668, p < 0.05) was shown to have directly impacted customer loyalty without the mediating effect of customer value (0.078). Conclusions: The findings showed that interaction quality and resulting quality had important implications for customer loyalty. We therefore suggest compliance with appointment times, training to improve work-related skills for employees, improving customer satisfaction, and enhancing communication skills.
