  • GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) Ground Station performs GNSS signal acquisition and processing. This system generates error correction information and distributes them to GNSS users. GNSS Ground Station consists of sensor station which contains receiver and meteorological sensor, monitoring and control subsystem which monitors and controls sensor station, control center which generates error correction information, and uplink station which transmits correction information to navigation satellites. Monitoring and control subsystem acquires and processes navigation data from sensor station. The processed data is transmitted to GNSS control center. Monitoring and control subsystem consists of data acquisition module, data formatting and archiving module, data error correction module, navigation determination module, independent quality monitoring module, and system maintenance and management module. The independent quality monitoring module inspects navigation signal, data, and measurement. This paper introduces independent quality monitoring and performs the analysis using measurement data.

  • The radar reflectivity is significantly affected by ground clutter, beam blockage, anomalous propagation (AP), birds, insects, chaff, etc. The quality of radar reflectivity is very important in quantitative precipitation estimation. Therefore, Weather Radar Center (WRC) of Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) employed two quality control algorithms: 1) Open Radar Product Generator (ORPG) and 2) fuzzy quality control algorithm to improve quality of radar reflectivity. In this study, an occurrence of AP echoes and the performance of both quality control algorithms are investigated. Consequently, AP echoes frequently occur during the spring and fall seasons. Moreover, while the ORPG QC algorithm has the merit of removing non-precipitation echoes, such as AP echoes, it also removes weak rain echoes and snow echoes. In contrast, the fuzzy QC algorithm has the advantage of preserving snow echoes and weak rain echoes, but it eliminates the partial area of the contaminated echo, including the AP echoes.

  • Among various data types obtained from the ocean, the quality controls for abiotic data collected from chemical, physical, and geological field surveys haves already been partially established. Due to the difficulties in standardization of the data collections and basic analyses, however, the quality controls of biotic data are in its early stage. For marine fish, the necessity of quality control is more demanded due to the wide range of data usage, but there are currently no consistent quality control guidelines because of the diversity and scope of data types derived from species-specific and age-specific information throughout various habitats. In this paper, we provide examples of marine fish data utilization and also show methods of the marine fish data collection, limitations of the data collection methods, and suggestions for improving the marine fish data quality. We hope this paper will help to establish the direction of quality control for marine fish data from both fishery-dependent and fishery-independent surveys in Korea in the near future.

  • A various quality data are produced during nuclear fuel fabrication. In order to control quality data efficiently, Computerization of Quality Information System(QIS) using personal computer was established. Database control software and analysis software were developed for QIS. QIS was applied the fuel manufacturing and quality inspection. Quality trend analysis, process control, process capability and quality history docket for nuclear fuel manufacturing were performed by QIS. Through the Quality Information System, quality assurance, quality control, process control and manufacturing engineering were performed efficiently in nuclear fuel manufacturing.

  • The competence of enterprise for managing information is evaluated not by the amount of information but by the quality of information such as response time, data consistency, and data correctness. The degradation of data quality is usually caused by the inappropriate process of managing the structure and value of stored data. According to the recent survey on the actual condition of data quality management, the correctness and consistency of data appeared to be the most problematic area among the six criteria of data quality management such as correctness, consistency, availability, timeliness, accessibility, and security. Moreover, the problem was more serious in case of small and medium-sized companies than large enterprises. In this paper, therefore, we attempt to propose a new data quality control methodology for small and medium-sized companies that can improve the correctness and consistency of data without consuming too much time and cost. To adopt the proposed methodology to real application immediately, we provided some scripts for as-is analysis and devised automation tools for managing naming rules of vocabulary, terminology, and data code. Additionally, we performed case study on the distribution service of a small-sized company to estimate the applicability of our tool and methodology.

  • Objectives : Quality control for imported medicinal herbs is duty for regulation, however to the best of our knowledge there has been no report regarding quality control of imported ones. Therefore, this study investigated the data of imported ones for monitoring quality issue. Methods : These data are categorized according to item, the amount of import, country, inspection item, suitability, and incongruity reason based on the 248 results performed by KIOM. Results : China is the number one country for import with the value of 73%. Inspected medicinal herbs were 139 species, among them Poria is ranked as top for requested number and the amount of import. The amount of import is similar between high ranking 20 species and low ranking 119 ones, showing high ranking ones are major. The incongruity ratio was 7.7% from the total number of inspected items, the reason for incongruity was excess of tolerable amount of Cd residue. Conclusions : From the data, it is effective way to focus on high ranking herbs for evaluating imported herbs for quality control. The study of mechanism on Cd accumulation and its decrease is essential for environmental matter. And identification and storage for mixed used and easily decomposable herbs are remained for further study. Our study might be small step for showing guideline for proper quality control.

  • Purpose: Skewness is an indicator used to measure the asymmetry of data distribution. In the past, product quality was judged only by mean and variance, but in modern management and manufacturing environments, various factors and volatility must be considered. Therefore, skewness helps accurately understand the shape of data distribution and identify outliers or problems, and skewness can be utilized from this new perspective. Therefore, we would like to propose a statistical quality control method using skewness. Methods: In order to generate data with the same mean and variance but different skewness, data was generated using normal distribution and gamma distribution. Using Minitab 18, we created 20 sets of 1,000 random data of normal distribution and gamma distribution. Using this data, it was proven that the process state can be sensitively identified by using skewness. Results: As a result of the analysis of this study, if the skewness is within ± 0.2, there is no difference in judgment from management based on the probability of errors that can be made in the management state as discussed in quality control. However, if the skewness exceeds ±0.2, the control chart considering only the standard deviation determines that it is in control, but it can be seen that the data is out of control. Conclusion: By using skewness in process management, the ability to evaluate data quality is improved and the ability to detect abnormal signals is excellent. By using this, process improvement and process non-sub-stitutability issues can be quickly identified and improved.

  • Quality control of Argo(Array for Real-time Geostrophic Oceanography) data is crucial by reason that salinity measurements are liable to experience some drift and offset due to biofouling, contamination of sensor and wash-out of biocide. The automated Argo real-time quality control has a limit of sorting data quality, so that WJO program is adopted as standardized method of Argo delayed mode quality control (DMQc) in the world that is a precise quality control method. We conducted DMQC on pressure, temperature and salinity measured by Argo floats in the Pacific Ocean including expert evaluation. Particularly, salinity data were corrected using WJO program. 4 salinity profiles of Argo delayed mode were compared with nearby in situ CTD data and other Argo data in deep layer where oceanographic conditions are stable in time and space. The differences of both salinities were lower than target accuracy of Argo. As compared with the difference of salinities before DMQC, those after DMQC decreased by 60-80 percent. Quality of delayed mode salinity data seemed to be improved correcting salinity data suggested by WJO program.
