  • Political campaigns circulate manipulative opinions in online communities to implant false beliefs and eventually win elections. Not only is this type of manipulation unfair, it also has long-lasting negative impacts on people's lives. Existing tools detect political manipulation based on a supervised classifier, which is accurate when trained with large labeled data. However, preparing this data becomes an excessive burden and must be repeated often to reflect changing manipulation tactics. We propose a practical detection system that requires moderate groundwork to achieve a sufficient level of accuracy. The proposed system groups opinions with similar properties into clusters, and then labels a few opinions from each cluster to build a classifier. It also models each opinion with features deduced from raw data with no additional processing. To validate the system, we collected over a million opinions during three nation-wide campaigns in South Korea. The system reduced groundwork from 200K to nearly 200 labeling tasks, and correctly identified over 90% of manipulative opinions. The system also effectively identified transitions in manipulative tactics over time. We suggest that online communities perform periodic audits using the proposed system to highlight manipulative opinions and emerging tactics.

  • This study aims to investigate the direct relationship between ownership structure, earnings manipulation, and organizational performance, and then examine the mediating effect of earnings manipulation in the relationship between ownership structure and organizational performance. This study collected and analyzed secondary data published in financial reports related to all insurance organizations listed in the Jordanian market during the study period (from 2009 until 2018). A panel data analysis was conducted, giving a total of 200 observations. The findings of this study concluded that ownership concentration, foreign ownership, and organization size affect organizational performance proxied by ROA, ROE, and EPS, more specifically, ownership concentration and organization size have a positive effect, whereas foreign ownership has a negative effect. At the same time, board of director ownership, organizational ownership, and CEO compensation did not affect organizational performance. Next, the board of director ownership, ownership concentration, foreign ownership, and CEO compensation affect earnings manipulation separately. In addition, earnings manipulation positively affects organizational performance proxied by ROA, ROE and EPS. This means that the higher the earnings manipulation is, the higher the organizational performance is. Finally, earnings manipulation mediates the relationship between ownership concentration and foreign ownership of ownership structure, and organizational performance.

  • The goal of the proposed Intelligent Assisting System - IAS is to assist human operators in an intelligent way, while leaving decision and goal planning instances for the human. To realize the IAS the very important issue of manipulation skill identification and analysis has to be solved, which then is stored in a Skill Data Base. Using this data base the IAS is able to perform complex manipulations on the motion control level and to assist the human operator flexibly. We propose a model for manipulation skill based on the dynamics of the grip transformation matrix, which describes the dynamic transformation between object space and finger joint space. Interaction with a virtual world simulator allows the calculation and feedback of appropriate forces through controlled actuators of the sensor glove with 10 degrees-of-freedom. To solve the sensor glove calibration problem, we learn the nonlinear calibration mapping by an artificial neural network(ANN). In this paper we also describe the experimental system setup of the skill acquisition and transfer system as a first approach to the IAS. Some simple manipulation examples and simulation results show the feasibility of the proposed manipulation skill model.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the changes in dorsiflexion and balance following proximal and distal tibiofibular joint manipulation in individuals with a history of lateral ankle sprain (LAS). Methods: Fifteen participants with a history of unilateral LAS, exhibiting a restriction in ankle dorsiflexion were included in this study. LAS ankle received a manipulation to the proximal and distal tibiofibular joint, while the opposite control ankle received no manipulation intervention. The outcome measures included ankle dorsiflexion and balance. Ankle dorsiflexion was measured using weight-bearing lunge test. Static and dynamic balances were measured using the overall, anterioposterior, and mediolateral balance index via the biodex balance system. Measurements were obtained prior to and following manipulation. Results: This study showed that ankle dorsiflexion and dynamic balance were improved following the manipulation compared to those prior to the manipulation (p<0.05). There was no significant change in static balance (p>0.05). Conclusion: The joint manipulation technique applied to the ankle of those with a history of LAS appears to improve ankle dorsiflexion and dynamic balance. This suggest that a manipulation to the proximal and distal tibiofibular joint could be provided as preliminary data regarding the prophylactic effects of recurrent LAS.

  • This article examines the potential impact of the Covid-19 Lockdown on earnings manipulation and stock market sensitivity to earnings announcements. It also explores the effects of earnings manipulation after the COVID-19 outbreak on the share price sensitivity to the earnings disclosures. The study uses a quantitative method to analyze the financial data consisting of 87 firms listed on the Iraq Stock Exchange for the period from 2018 to 2020, which constitutes a total of (174 observations). We used Ohlson (1995) model to estimate financial market reaction and sensitivity to earnings manipulation fluctuations and accounting information. The results show that companies practice earnings manipulation to maintain earnings over a time series, which means a negative impact of earnings manipulation on all earnings measures' value relevance (EPS, BVS, and CFS). Accordingly, earnings manipulation negatively influences investor behavior in the financial market, based mainly on financial reporting. The value relevance of financial reports has also decreased because of the COVID-19 outbreak and related economic Lockdown. These results reflect a long-term adverse impact of earnings manipulation on investor behavior and financial statements reliability.

  • The purposes of this study were to compare pelvic tilt. range of motion(ROM) of hip rotation, and leg length difference before and after manipulation and to investigate correlation between changes of each variables after manipulation of sacroiliac pint in 31 low back pain patients(11 males, 20 females) with sacroiliac pint dysfunction. The sacroiliac pint of patients was manipulated on the side of anterior pelvic tilt, using the technique described by Stoddard(1962) and Greenmann (1996). I used this technique because it usually eliminated sacroiliac Pint dysfunction in one treatment session. SPSS for window computer system was used to analyze the data. Also t-test was performed for comparison of the variables before and after manipulation, and Pearson product-moment correlation analysis and regression analysis were performed for changes of each variables after manipulation. The result were as follows: 1. The pelvic tilt after manipulation was significantly decreased(mean=$2.79^{\circ}$) compared with the pelvic tilt before manipulation(p=.001). 2. The PROM of hip internal rotation ipsilateral to anterior pelvic tilt after manipulation significantly decreased (mean = $1.88^{\circ}$) compared with hip internal rotation before manipulation (p=.008). The PROM of hip internal rotation ipsilateral to posterior pelvic tilt after manipulation significantly increased(mean = $1.29^{\circ}$) compared with hip internal rotation before manipulation (p=.029). 3. The PROM of hip external rotation ipsilateral to anterior pelvic tilt after manipulation significantly increased(mean=$2.42^{\circ}$) compared with the hip external rotation before manipulation(p=$2.42^{\circ}$) compared with the hip external rotation ipsilateral to posterior pelvic tilt after manipulation significantly decreased(mean = $1.84^{\circ}$) compared with the hip external rotation before manipulation (p=.008). 4. Leg length difference after manipulation significantly decreased(mean=2.15 mm) compared with leg length difference before manipulation (p=.008). Regression analysis revealed that a fair correlation was found between change in leg length difference and change in anterior pelvic tilt after manipulation(p=.009). 5. Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient was used to assess differences of the variables after manipulation. A fair correlation was found between change in leg length difference and change in anterior pelvic tilt after manipulation(r=.462, p<.01). A fair correlation was found between change in anterior pelvic tilt and change in hip internal rotation ipsilateral to anterior pelvic tilt(r=.397, p<.05) and between change in anterior pelvic tilt and change in hip external rotation ipsilateral to anterior pelvic tilt(r=.516, p<.01). A fair correlation was found between change in posterior pelvic tilt and changes in hip internal rotation ipsilateral to posterior pelvic tilt (r=.441, p<.05) and between change in posterior pelvic tilt and change in hip external rotation ipsilateral to posterior pelvic tilt(r=.361, p<.05). A fair correlation was found between change in hip internal rotation ipsilateral to anterior pelvic tilt and change in hip external rotation ipsilateral to posterior pelvic tilt(r=.388, p<.05) and between change in hip internal rotation ipsilateral to posterior pelvic tilt and change in hip internal rotation ipsilateral to anterior pelvic tilt(r=.426. p<.05).

Also t-test was performed for comparison of pelvic tilt angle before and after manipulation, and Pearson product-moment correlation analysis was performed for intratester reliability for measurements of pelvic tilt angle before and after manipulation. The result were as follows: 1. Intratester reliability was good for measures of pelvic tilt (r=.98). 2. The pelvic tilt after manipulation was significantly decreased (mean=$3.40^{\circ}$) compared with the pelvic tilt before manipulation (p=.001). All subjects showed asymmetrical right versus left pelvic tilt before manipulation. 40% of subjects showed decreased asymmetrical right versus left pelvic tilt after manipulation, and 60% of subjects showed symmetrical right versus left pelvic tilt after manipulation. I think that pelvic tilt asymmetry with hypomobility due to loss of joint play could be symmetrized by manipulation or mobilization, but pelvic tilt asymmetry with unilateral pelvic muscle shortening could not be symmetrized by manipulation or mobilization without relaxation and stretching of shortened muscles.

  • Face manipulation tools represented by Deepfake have threatened the security of people's biological identity information. Particularly, manipulation tools with deep learning technology have brought great challenges to Deepfake detection. There are many solutions for Deepfake detection based on traditional machine learning and advanced deep learning. However, those solutions of detectors almost have problems of poor performance when evaluated on different quality datasets. In this paper, for the sake of making high-quality Deepfake datasets, we provide a preprocessing method based on the image pixel matrix feature to eliminate similar images and the residual channel attention network (RCAN) to resize the scale of images. Significantly, we also describe a Deepfake detector named Cascaded-Hop which is based on the PixelHop++ system and the successive subspace learning (SSL) model. By feeding the preprocessed datasets, Cascaded-Hop achieves a good classification result on different manipulation types and multiple quality datasets. According to the experiment on FaceForensics++ and Celeb-DF, the AUC (area under curve) results of our proposed methods are comparable to the state-of-the-art models.
