  • Cloud computing is the latest approach that is developed for reducing the storage of space to store the data and helps the quick sharing of the data. An increase in the cloud computing users is observed that is also making the users be prone to hacker's attacks. To increase the efficiency of cloud storage encryption mechanisms are used. The encryption techniques that are discussed in this survey paper are searchable encryption, attribute-based, Identity-based encryption, homomorphic encryption, and cloud DES algorithms. There are several limitations and disadvantages of each of the given techniques and they are discussed in this survey paper. Techniques are found to be effective and they can increase the security of cloud storage systems.

  • With the proliferation of smart phones and the development of IoT technology, it has become possible to collect personal data for public purposes. However, users are afraid of voluntarily providing their private data due to privacy issues. To remedy this problem, mainly three techniques have been studied: data disturbance, traditional encryption, and homomorphic encryption. In this work, we perform simulations to compare them in terms of accuracy, message length, and computation delay. Experiment results show that the data disturbance method is fast and inaccurate while the traditional encryption method is accurate and slow. Similar to traditional encryption algorithms, the homomorphic encryption algorithm is relatively effective in privacy preserving because it allows computing encrypted data without decryption, but it requires high computation costs as well. However, its main cost, arithmetic operations, can be processed in parallel. Also, data analysis using the homomorphic encryption needs to do decryption only once at any number of data.

  • In this paper we propose a novel volume hologram encryption system with binary amplitude masks rather than phase masks, in which volume holograms can be securely recorded against the attacks by a third party. In our system, the encryption is done by multiplexing two volume holograms in such a way that an original binary data page is first stored as a volume hologram by interference with a binary amplitude mask and then the complementary data page is stored as another volume hologram by interference with the complementary binary amplitude mask over the first hologram. The operation principle of our system is explained with the well-known theory of recording and reading a volume hologram in a photorefractive material and the experimental results are presented. Experimental data show that our encryption system is protected from blind decryptions by randomly-generated incorrect amplitude masks.

  • Encryption technology is to hide information in a cyberspace built using a computer and to prevent third parties from changing it. If a malicious user accesses unauthorized device or application services on the Internet of objects, it may be exposed to various security threats such as data leakage, denial of service, and privacy violation. One way to deal with these security threats is to encrypt and deliver the data generated by a user. Encrypting data must be referred to a technique of changing data using a complicated algorithm so that no one else knows the content except for those with special knowledge. As computers process computations that can be done at a very high speed, current cryptographic techniques are vulnerable to future computer performance improvements. We designed and implemented a new encryption program that combines ancient and modern cryptography so that the user never knows about data management, and transmission. The significance of this paper is that it is the safest method to combine various kinds of encryption methods to secure the weaknesses of the used cryptographic algorithms.

  • In this paper, we consider the development of encryption of DES (data encryption standard) based on Microsoft Excel Macro, which was adopted as the FIPS (federal information processing standard) 46 of USA in 1977. Concrete explanation of DES is given. Algorithms for DES encryption are adapted to Excel Macro. By repeating the 16 round which is consisted of diffusion (which hide the relation between plain text and cipher text) and the confusion (which hide the relation between cipher key and cipher text) with Excel Macro, we can easily get the desired DES cipher text.

  • With the rapid interest in Geographic Information System (GIS) contents, a large volume of valuable GIS dataset has been distributed illegally by pirates, hackers, or unauthorized users. Therefore the problem focus on how to protect the copyright of GIS vector map data for storage and transmission. At this point, GIS security techniques focusing on secure network and data encryption have been studied and developed to solve the copyright protection and illegal copy prevention for GIS digital map. But GIS vector map data is very large and current data encryption techniques often encrypt all components of data. That means we have encrypted large amount of data lead to the long encrypting time and high complexity computation. This paper presents a novel selective encryption scheme for GIS vector map data protection to store, transmit or distribute to authorized users using K-means algorithm. The proposed algorithm only encrypts a small part of data based on properties of polylines and polygons in GIS vector map but it can change whole data of GIS vector map. Experimental results verified the proposed algorithm effectively and error in decryption is approximately zero.

  • Cloud computing offers a platform that is both adaptable and scalable, making it ideal for outsourcing data for sharing. Various organizations outsource their data on cloud storage servers for availing management and sharing services. When the organizations outsource the data, they lose direct control on the data. This raises the privacy and security concerns. Cryptographic encryption methods can secure the data from the intruders as well as cloud service providers. Data owners may also specify access control policies such that only the users, who satisfy the policies, can access the data. Attribute based access control techniques are more suitable for the cloud environment as they cover large number of users coming from various domains. Multi-authority attribute-based encryption (MA-ABE) technique is one of the propitious attribute based access control technique, which allows data owner to enforce access policies on encrypted data. The main aim of this paper is to comprehensively survey various state-of-the-art MA-ABE schemes to explore different features such as attribute and key management techniques, access policy structure and its expressiveness, revocation of access rights, policy updating techniques, privacy preservation techniques, fast decryption and computation outsourcing, proxy re-encryption etc. Moreover, the paper presents feature-wise comparison of all the pertinent schemes in the field. Finally, some research challenges and directions are summarized that need to be addressed in near future.

  • There are currently various file encryption solutions for encrypting and storing files on disk. However, the existing file encryption solutions handle encryption and decryption all at once by file or directory. In this paper, we propose a system call supporting partial encryption function of the file. The user sets the encryption information with the system call interface at a portion where encryption of the file data is desired. And then the user writes file data, the data is encrypted and stored. Also if the user sets decryption information and reads the file data, the necessary part is decrypted by applying the set information. For the proposed system call, It consists of inspection module, management module, encryption module, decryption module, and HMAC module as per required system call. And it was implemented on the Linux environment. Also the operation of implemented system call was verified on the development board, and the performance was analyzed by measuring performance speed.

  • There are a lot of encryption methods to secure database proposed recently. Those encryption methods can protect the sensitive data of users effectively, but it deteriorates the search performance of database query. In this paper, we proposed the selective element encryption method in order to complement those drawbacks. In addition, we compared the performance of the proposed method with that of tuple level encryption method using the various queries. As a result, we found that the proposed method, which use the selective element encryption with bloom filter as a index, has better performance than the other encryption method.

  • We propose a method of encryption and decryption of binary data using 2-step phase-shifting digital interferometry. This technique reduces the number of interferograms in the phase-shifting interferometry. The binary data has been expressed with random code and random phase. We remove the dc-term of the phase-shifting digital interferogram to restore the original binary data. Simulation results shows that the proposed technique can be used for binary data encryption and decryption.
