  • The sensor network standard DASH7 was proposed to improve transmission quality and low power communication. Specifications for the standard are currently being developed, so the security specification has not been firmly implemented. However, without a security specification, a network cannot work due to threats from malicious users. Thus we must ensure confidentiality and authentication of data packets by using a cryptography method. To contribute to the DASH7 security specification, this paper shows the implementation results of network and data link layer security by using advanced encryption standard (AES) counter with CBC-MAC (CCM) over CC430 sensor nodes.

  • Cloud Computing is one of the current research areas in computer science. Recently, Cloud is the buzz word used everywhere in IT industries; It introduced the notion of 'pay as you use' and revolutionized developments in IT. The rapid growth of modernized cloud computing leads to 24×7 accessing of e-resources from anywhere at any time. It offers storage as a service where users' data can be stored on a cloud which is managed by a third party who is called Cloud Service Provider (CSP). Since users' data are managed by a third party, it must be encrypted ensuring confidentiality and privacy of the data. There are different types of cryptographic algorithms used for cloud security; in this article, the algorithms and their security measures are discussed.

  • Encryption is a method to convert information to no-sense code in order to prevent data from being lost or altered by use of illegal means. Audit logging creates audit log of users' activities, exceptions, and information security events, and then conserves it for a certain period for investigation and access-control auditing. Our paper suggests that confidentiality and integrity of information should be guaranteed when transmitting and storing important information in encryption. Encryption should consider both one-way encryption and two-way one and that encryption key should assure security. Also, all history related to electronic financial transactions should be logged and kept. And, it should be considered to check the details of application access log and major information. In this paper, we take a real example of encryption and log audit for safe data transmission and periodic check.

  • In E-mail based accounting system, the remitter does not have need to find collector's account number. To transfer money to a collector's account, what remitter need is just a collector's E-mail address. But the current E-mail based accounting systems are built on SSL technology. Basically SSL provides some security services - confidentiality, user authentication and data integrity, but does not provide non-repudiation. So, in the current E-mail based accounting system, it is possible to deny transaction. And there is no receipt of transaction. In this paper, we design and implementation of a S/MIME applied Secure Payment Mechanism. In our system, every account information - account number, receiver name, amount of money, etc. - is included in a 'check' message. And this message is protected under the Secure Web-mail using S/MIME. In a view point of the convenience, users using our system do not have need to find collector's account number. And in a view point of the security, our system provides confidentiality, user authentication, data integrity and non-repudiation. Moreover our system provides a receipt.

  • A local storage of HTML5 is a Web Storage, which is stored permanently on a local computer in the form of files. The contents of the storage can be easily accessed and modified because it is stored as plaintext. Moreover, because the internet browser classifies the local storages of each domain using file names, the malicious attacker can abuse victim's local storage files by changing file names. In the paper, we propose a scheme to maintain the integrity and the confidentiality of the local storage's source domain and source device. The key idea is that the client encrypts the data stored in the local storage with cipher key, which is managed by the web server. On the step of requesting the cipher key, the web server authenticates whether the client is legal source of local storage or not. Finally, we showed that our method can detect an abnormal access to the local storage through experiments according to the proposed method.

  • An EPON which is going on standardization in IEEE 802.3ah, is tree topology consists of a OLT and multiple ONU using passive optical components, so this network is susceptible to variable security threats - eavesdropping, masquerading, denial of service and so on. In this paper, we design a security protocol supporting authentication and confidentiality services in MAC layer in order to prevent these security threats and to guarantee secure data exchange The designed security protocol introduce public-key based authentication and key management protocols for efficient key management, and choose Rijndael algorithm, which is recent standard of AES, to provide the confidentiality of EPON Proposed authentication and key management protocols perform authentication and public-key exchange at a time, and are secure protocols using derived common cipher key by exchanging public random number To implement the designed security protocol, we propose the procedures of authentication and public-key exchange, session key update, key recovery. This proposed protocol is verified using unknown session key, forward secrecy, unknown key-share, key-compromise impersonation.

  • XML encryption is to provide confidentiality service, though not limited to, for web contents. XML encryption can be applied to entire data files as opaque objects, or more frequently to various parts of XML documents, supporting various encryption granularity. It is this characteristic that makes XML encryption a more efficient alternative for data confidentiality in various web applications than is possible with SSL/TLS, IPsec, PGP, or S/MIME. It is essential for successful deployment of XML encryption to achieve interoperability among the products implementing this technology, which requires the products to implement the XML encryption standards correctly. Conformance testing is to test if products implement the relevant standard correctly. In this paper we present a conformance testing method for XML encryption products and implement it. We will first look at XML encryption standards developed by W3C, and extract test criteria. Then we propose a testing method in which the encryption capability and the decryption capability of a product are tested separately. The proposed methody is actually implemented as a GUI-based testing tool and some test results are presented.

  • Objectives: From a policy perspective, the introduction of confidential information reviews is a vital task for expanding workers' right to know and improving hazardous materials information communication. In this study, rational methods for introducing and administering confidential information reviews were examined as a part of advancing chemical information communication. Methods: The domestic status, social demands, and control cases from other countries about confidential information in material safety data sheets(MSDSs) were all examined. Additionally, principles for introducing MSDS confidential information review, what needs to be revised prior to its introduction, and procedures and manners of reviewing confidential information were suggested. Results and Conclusions: When composition information on MSDS needs to be protected in the EU and Canada, confidential information should be claimed and then approved by competent authorities with a principle of reviewing confidential information prior to rescinding information from MSDS. Applying the same principle, certain information on an MSDS that needs to be protected should be reviewed and approved in Korea. As a result, the MSDS is communicated with approval numbers replacing composition information. MSDS confidential information review has five steps, including deciding whether chemicals claimed to be confidential are excluded from applying for a confidentiality exemption, the names and concentration ranges of ingredients are adequate, and the claimed information is valid in terms of confidentiality.

  • As everything linking to the internet, people can subscribe to various services from a service provider to facilitate their lives through the Internet of Things (IoT). An obligatory thing for the service provider is that they should push the service data safely and timely to multiple IoT terminal devices regularly after the IoT devices accomplishing the service subscription. In order to control the service message received by the legal devices as while as keep the confidentiality of the data, the public key encryption algorithm is utilized. While the existing public encryption algorithms for push service are too complicated for IoT devices, and almost of the current subscription schemes based on push mode are relying on centralized organization which may suffer from centralized entity corruption or single point of failure. To address these issues, we design a secure subscription-push service scheme based on blockchain and edge computing in this article, which is decentralized with secure architecture for the subscription and push of service. Furthermore, inspired by broadcast encryption and multicast encryption, a new encryption algorithm is designed to manage the permissions of IoT devices together with smart contract, and to protect the confidentiality of push messages, which is suitable for IoT devices. The edge computing nodes, in the new system architecture, maintain the blockchain to ensure the impartiality and traceability of service subscriptions and push messages, meanwhile undertake some calculations for IoT devices with limited computing power. The legalities of subscription services are guaranteed by verifying subscription tags on the smart contract. Lastly, the analysis indicates that the scheme is reliable, and the proposed encryption algorithm is safe and efficient.

  • Personal information leakage is very harmful as it can lead to additional attacks using leaked information as well as privacy invasion, and it is primarily caused by hacking server databases of institutions that collect and store personal information. We propose a scheme that allows a service-requesting user to authorize a secure delegated transfer of his personal information to the service provider via a reliable authority and enables only the two parties of the service to retrieve the provided information stored on a blockchain ensuring data confidentiality. It thus eliminates the necessity of storing customer information in the service provider's own database. As a result, the service provider can serve customers without requiring membership registration or storing personal information in the database, so that information leakage through the server database can be completely blocked. In addition, the scheme is free from the risk of information leakage and subsequent attacks through smartphones because it does not require a user's smartphone to store any authentication credential or personal information of its owner.
