  • PURPOSE. To determine the shear bond strengths of different denture base resins to different types of prefabricated teeth (acrylic, nanohybrid composite, and cross-linked) and denture teeth produced by computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Prefabricated teeth and CAD/CAM (milled) denture teeth were divided into 10 groups and bonded to different denture base materials. Groups 1-3 comprised of different types of prefabricated teeth and cold-polymerized denture base resin; groups 4-6 comprised of different types of prefabricated teeth and heat-polymerized denture base resin; groups 7-9 comprised of different types of prefabricated teeth and CAD/CAM (milled) denture base resin; and group 10 comprised of milled denture teeth produced by CAD/CAM technology and CAD/CAM (milled) denture base resin. A universal testing machine was used to evaluate the shear bond strength for all specimens. One-way ANOVA and Tukey post-hoc test were used for analyzing the data (α=.05). RESULTS. The shear bond strengths of different groups ranged from 3.37 ± 2.14 MPa to 18.10 ± 2.68 MPa. Statistical analysis showed significant differences among the tested groups (P<.0001). Among different polymerization methods, the lowest values were determined in cold-polymerized resin. There was no significant difference between the shear bond strength values of heat-polymerized and CAD/CAM (milled) denture base resins. CONCLUSION. Different combinations of materials for removable denture base and denture teeth can affect their bond strength. Cold-polymerized resin should be avoided for attaching prefabricated teeth to a denture base. CAD/CAM (milled) and heat-polymerized denture base resins bonded to different types of prefabricated teeth show similar shear bond strength values.

  • Most studies on regional economic impact have utilized employment or employment income data. Recently, a few scholars have noticed the importance of nonemployment income sources in urban economies. Using decennial census data on Arizona towns from 1970 to 1990, this paper first examines the increasing importance of nonempolyment income sources in urban economies and the associations of nonemployment income sources with elderly population and metropolitan location. Then, this paper investigates the impact of nonemployment income on urban growth in the framework of economic base model. The regression results show that the impact of nonemployment income is significant in the increase of nonbasic income and becomes greater over time, and that the impact of transfer over time, and that the impact of transfer income on nonbasic income of transfer income on nonbasic income is stronger in smaller towns and the impact of investment income is stronger in larger towns.

  • Capturing the carbon dioxide emitted from coal-fired power plants will be necessary if targeted reduction in carbon emissions is to be achieved. Modelling and simulation are the base for optimal operation and control in thermal power plant and also play an important role in energy savings. This study aims to analyze the performance of supercritical coal fired power plant through steady and dynamic simulation using a commercial software gCCS. A whole power plant has been modeled and validated with design data of 500 MWe power plant, base and part load operations of the plant were also evaluated, consequently it had been proven that the simulated result had a good agreement with actual operating data. In addition, the effect of co-firng on the plant efficiency and flue gases were investigated using gCCS simulator.

  • Vision sensors using the optical triangulation have been widely used for automatic welding systems in various ways, but their reliability is seriously affected by presence of the arc noise. The reliability of vision sensors was analyzed with variation of the arc noise by considering the reflectance of the base metal. first, the properties of the base metal's reflection were modelled by using the Bidirectional Reflectance-Distribution Function(BRDF), and then the variation of the reflected arc intensity was formulated for various configurations of the torch, base metal, and sensor. The experimental data of the gray level of the reflected arc light were obtained for two materials, mild steel and stainless steel. It was found that the results calculated from the proposed model were in good agreement with the experimental data.

  • The method of the analysis of the base Gummel number of the BJT(Bipolar Junction Transistor) for integrated circuits based upon the semiconductor physics is proposed and the method of calculating the doping profile of the base region using process conditions is presented. The transistor saturation current obtained from the proposed method of NPN BJT using 20V and 30V process shows an averaged relative error of 6.7% compared with the measured data and the transistor saturation current of PNP BJT shows an averaged relative error of 9.2% compared with the measured data

  • An improvement to the k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model is presented and is shown to lead to better agreement with data regarding supersonic base flows. The improvement was achieved by imposing a grid-independent realizability constraint in the Launder-Sharma k-${\varepsilon}$ model. The effects of compressibility were also examined. The numerical results show that the modified Launder-Sharma model leads to some improvement in the prediction of the velocity and turbulent kinetic energy profiles. Compressibility corrections also lead to better agreement in both the turbulent kinetic energy and the Reynolds stress profiles with the experimental data.

  • Engineering database for CIM of injection mold production has been developed to manage design information and parameters of injection mold. The database has direct connection with product data management system and management database. Design specifications are generated in initial stage of mold design with integration of management information. Design parameters and bill of materials for mold base parts are generated during the CAD process and transferred to the manufacturing database and procurement system. Standard modules for parts and mold base are constructed using national standard and legacy data of industries. The engineering database provides important information route for CIM of injection mold design and production.

  • As a method to reduce collision accidents of ships at sea, this paper suggests an expert system for collision avoidance and navigation (hereafter "ESCAN"). The ESCAN is designed and developed by using the theory and technology of expert system and based on the information provided by AIS and RADAR/ARPA system. In this paper the ESCAN is composed of four(4) components; Facts/Data Base in charge of preserving data from navigational equipment, Knowledge Base storing production rules of the ESCAN, Inference Engine deciding which rules are satisfied by facts or objects, User System Interface for communication between users and ESCAN. The ESCAN has the function of real--time analysis and judgment of various encountering situations between own ship and targets, and is to provide navigators with appropriate plans of collision avoidance and additional advice and recommendation This paper, as a basic study, is to introduce the basic design and function of ESCAN.

  • This paper discusses two algorithms for recommending notebook computer (NBC) and workstation adjustments so that the user can assume an ergonomic seated posture during NBC operation. Required input data are the user's anthropometric data and physical dimensions of the NBC and the workstation. The first algorithm is based on an assumption that there are no workstation constraints while the second algorithm considers the actual seat height and work surface height. The results from the algorithms include recommendations for adjusting the NBC (tilt angle of the NBC base unit, angle between the base and screen units, and base support height) and the workstation (heights of seat support and footrest, and distance between the body and the NBC).

  • A wireless sensor network is the combination of a large number of deployed sensors over an area. Communication between the sensors is the most important factor for a successful sensor network. It is mandatory that long distance and multi-hop communication will occur between sensors. Generally sensors relay the sensed data of a particular territory to the command center via a base station. For the non uniformed deployment of sensors many sensors may deploy in hostile areas surrounded by full of obstacles or in other condition it may be out of the direct communication range of the base station. It seems a critical problem for routing data to and from those sensors to the base station. This paper proposes a route management scheme using a dynamic load balancing approach based on residual energy of each agent sensors.
