Enhancing continuous queries over data streams with temporal functions and predicates enriches the expressive power of those queries. While traditional continuous queries retrieve only the values of attributes, temporal continuous queries retrieve the valid time intervals of those values as well. Correctly evaluating such queries requires the coalescing of adjacent timestamps for value-equivalent tuples prior to evaluating temporal functions and predicates. For many stream applications, the available computing resources may be too limited to produce exact query results. These limitations are commonly addressed through load shedding and produce approximated query results. There have been many load shedding mechanisms proposed so far, but for temporal continuous queries, the presence of coalescing makes theses existing methods unsuitable. In this paper, we propose a new accuracy metric and load shedding algorithm that are suitable for temporal query processing when memory is insufficient. The accuracy metric uses a combination of the Jaccard coefficient to measure the accuracy of attribute values and $\mathcal{PQI}$ interval orders to measure the accuracy of the valid time intervals in the approximate query result. The algorithm employs a greedy strategy combining two objectives reflecting the two accuracy metrics (i.e., value and interval). In the performance study, the proposed greedy algorithm outperforms a conventional random load shedding algorithm by up to an order of magnitude in its achieved accuracy.

The precise identification of vehicle positions, known as the vehicle localization problem, is an important requirement for building intelligent vehicle ad-hoc networks (VANETs). To solve this problem, two categories of solutions are proposed: stand-alone and data fusion approaches. Compared to stand-alone approaches, which use single information including the global positioning system (GPS) and sensor-based navigation systems with differential corrections, data fusion approaches analyze the position information of several vehicles from GPS and sensor-based navigation systems, etc. Therefore, data fusion approaches show high accuracy. With the position information on a set of vehicles in the preprocessing stage, data fusion approaches is used to estimate the precise vehicular location in the local map building stage. This paper proposes an efficient local map building scheme, which increases the accuracy of the estimated vehicle positions via V2V communications. Even under the low ratio of vehicles with communication modules on the road, the proposed local map building scheme showed high accuracy when estimating the vehicle positions. From the experimental results based on the parameters of the practical vehicular environments, the accuracy of the proposed localization system approached the single lane-level.

Recently, services for personal biometric data analysis based on real-time monitoring systems has been increasing and many of them have focused on recognition of emotions. In this paper, we propose a classification model to classify anxiety emotion using biometric data actually collected from people. We propose to deploy the support vector machine to build a classification model. In order to improve the classification accuracy, we propose two data pre-processing procedures, which are normalization and data deletion. The proposed algorithms are actually implemented based on Real-time Traffic Flow Measurement structure, which consists of data collection module, data preprocessing module, and creating classification model module. Our experiment results show that the proposed classification model can infers anxiety emotions of people with the accuracy of 65.18%. Moreover, the proposed model with the proposed pre-processing techniques shows the improved accuracy, which is 78.77%. Therefore, we can conclude that the proposed classification model based on the pre-processing process can improve the classification accuracy with lower computation complexity.

Recently, there are many companies that use systems based on artificial intelligence. The accuracy of artificial intelligence depends on the amount of learning data and the appropriate algorithm. However, it is not easy to obtain learning data with a large number of entity. Less data set have large generalization errors due to overfitting. In order to minimize this generalization error, this study proposed DGA which can expect relatively high accuracy even though data with a less data set is applied to machine learning based genetic algorithm to deep learning based dropout. The idea of this paper is to determine the active state of the nodes. Using Gradient about loss function, A new fitness function is defined. Proposed Algorithm DGA is supplementing stochastic inconsistency about Dropout. Also DGA solved problem by the complexity of the fitness function and expression range of the model about Genetic Algorithm As a result of experiments using MNIST data proposed algorithm accuracy is 75.3%. Using only Dropout algorithm accuracy is 41.4%. It is shown that DGA is better than using only dropout.

A major obstacle to classify and validate Land Cover maps is the high cost of generating reference data or multiple thematic maps for subsequent comparative analysis. In case of inaccessible area such as North Korea, the high resolution satellite imagery may be used as in situ data so as to overcome the lack of reliable reference data. The objective of this paper is to investigate the possibility of utilizing QuickBird (0.6m) of North Korea obtained from Google Earth data provided thru internet. Monthly NDVI images of nine months from the summer of 2004 were classified into L=54 cluster using ISODATA algorithm, and these L clusters were assigned to 7 classes; coniferous forest, deciduous forest, mixed forest, paddy field, dry field, water and built-up area. The overall accuracy and Kappa index were 85.98% and 0.82, respectively, which represents about 10% point increase of classification accuracy than our previous study based on GCP point data around North Korea. Thus we can conclude that Google Earth may be used to substitute the traditional in situ data collection on the site where the accessibility is severely limited.
Nowadays, interests in land cover classification using not only multi-sensor images but also thematic GIS information are increasing. Often, although useful GIS information for the classification is available, the traditional MLE (maximum likelihood estimation techniques) does not allow us to use the information, due to the fact that it cannot handle the GIS data properly. This paper propose two extended MLE algorithms that can integrate both remote sensing images and GIS thematic data for land-cover classification. They include modified MLE and Bayesian predictive likelihood estimation technique (BPLE) techniques that can handle both categorical GIS thematic data and remote sensing images in an integrated manner. The proposed algorithms were evaluated through supervised land-cover classification with Landsat ETM+ images and an existing land-use map in the Gongju area, Korea. As a result, the proposed method showed considerable improvements in classification accuracy, when compared with other multi-spectral classification techniques. The integration of remote sensing images and the land-use map showed that overall accuracy indicated an improvement in classification accuracy of 10.8% when using MLE, and 9.6% for the BPLE. The case study also showed that the proposed algorithms enable the extraction of the area with land-cover change. In conclusion, land cover classification results produced through the integration of various GIS spatial data and multi-spectral images, will be useful to involve complementary data to make more accurate decisions.

Approximately 100 permanent GPS stations are currently operational in Korea. However, only 10 sites have their own weather sensors connected directly to the GPS receiver. Thus. calculation of meteorological data through interpolation of AWS data are needed to determine precipitable water vapors at a specific GPS station without a meteorological sensor. This study analyzed the accuracy of two meteorological data interpolation methods called reverse sea level correction and kriging. As a result, the root-mean square-error of reverse sea level correction were seven times more accurate in pressure and twice more accurate in temperature than the kriging method. For the analysis of PWV accuracy, we calculated GPS PWV during the summer season in :2008 by using GPS observation data and interpolated meteorological data by reverse sea level correction. And, we compared GPS PWV s based on interpolated meteorological data with those from radiosonde observations and GPS PWV s based on onsite GPS meteorological sensor measurements. As a result, the accuracy of GPS PWV s from our interpolated meteorological data was within the required operational accuracy of 3mm.

When general statistical regression methods are applied to predict the battery remaining time of a mobile smart device, they yielded the poor accuracy of estimating battery remaining time as the deviations of battery usage time per battery level became larger. In order to improve the estimation accuracy of general statistical regression methods, a preprocessing task is required to refine the measured raw data with large deviations of battery usage time per battery level. In this paper, we propose a data preprocessing framework that preprocesses raw measured battery consumption data and converts them into refined battery consumption data. The numerical results obtained by experimenting the proposed data preprocessing framework confirmed that it yielded good performance in terms of accuracy of estimating battery remaining time under general statistical regression methods for given refined battery consumption data.
Application of artificial intelligence (AI) approaches in eco-environmental modeling has gradually increased for the last decade. Comprehensive understanding and evaluation on the applicability of this approach to eco-environmental modeling are needed. In this study, we reviewed the previous studies that used AI-techniques in eco-environmental modeling. Decision Tree (DT) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) were found to be major AI algorithms preferred by researchers in ecological and environmental modeling areas. When the effect of the size of training data on model prediction accuracy was explored using the data from the previous studies, the prediction accuracy and the size of training data showed nonlinear correlation, which was best-described by hyperbolic saturation function among the tested nonlinear functions including power and logarithmic functions. The hyperbolic saturation equations were proposed to be used as a guideline for optimizing the size of training data set, which is critically important in designing the field experiments required for training AI-based eco-environmental modeling.
