  • In the information society represented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, various types of data and information that are difficult to see are produced, processed, and processed and circulated to enhance the value of existing goods. The IoT(Internet of Things) paradigm will change the appearance of individual life, industry, disaster, safety and public service fields. In order to implement the IoT paradigm, several elements of technology are required. It is necessary that these various elements are efficiently connected to constitute one system as a whole. It is also necessary to collect, provide, transmit, store and analyze IoT data for implementation of IoT platform. We designed and implemented a big data processing IoT platform for IoT service implementation. Proposed platform system is consist of IoT sensing/control device, IoT message protocol, unstructured data server and big data analysis components. For platform testing, fixed IoT devices were implemented as solar power generation modules and mobile IoT devices as modules for table tennis stroke data measurement. The transmission part uses the HTTP and the CoAP, which are based on the Internet. The data server is composed of Hadoop and the big data is analyzed using R. Through the emprical test using fixed and mobile IoT devices we confirmed that proposed IoT platform system normally process and operate big data.

  • This paper is concerned with the vibration measurement of cable by image processing technique. The measurement system consists of a CCD camera and zoom lens. The image data can be transferred to PC via USB or IEEE1394 port. In this study, a Matlab program was made to process the acquired image data. After acquiring an image data for each frame, this data is binarized for tracing cable vibrations. Then the area occupied by the cable is marked by 1 and the background is covered by 0. In this way, we can calculate the displacement of the cable. Experimental results show that the tracing of cable displacements is possible and natural frequencies and mode shapes can be computed. The accuracy of the image processing system for vibration measurement depends on the maximum frame rate of the CCD camera. The use of a high-speed camera enables us to compute more higher modes. The laboratory experiments guarantee the vibration measurement of real transmission lines.

The objective of this research is twofold. Firstly, it evaluates the performance of FMS navigation systems using conventional and edge computing methodologies. Secondly, it aims to extend the boundaries of knowledge in edge-computing technology by conducting a rigorous analysis of terrain data and its implications on flight path optimization along with communication with ground stations. The study employs a combination of simulation-based experimentation and algorithmic computations. Through strategic intervals along the flight path, critical parameters such as distance, altitude profiles, and flight path angles are dynamically assessed. Additionally, edge computing techniques enhance data processing speeds, ensuring adaptability to various scenarios. This paper challenges existing paradigms in flight management and opens avenues for further research in integrating edge computing within aviation technology. The findings presented herein carry significant implications for the aviation industry, ranging from improved operational efficiency to heightened safety measures.

  • The size distributions of electrospray droplets from the Taylor cone in cone-jet mode are directly measured by using a freezing method and a transmission electron microscope (TEM) image processing technique. These results are compared with the data obtained by an aerodynamic size spectrometer (TSI Aerosizer DSP). The use of glycerol seeded with NaI and a freezing method make it possible to sample droplets with their original sizes preserved. Since pictures of droplets are taken with TEM with very low vapor pressure of the solution, evaporation is suppressed by freezing. For liquid flow rates below 1 nl/sec, the measured droplet diameters by the TEM image processing technique and the aerosizer are in the range of 0.25 to $0.32{\mu}m$ and 0.30 to $0.40{\mu}m$, respectively. Comparing the TEM data with the aerosizer measurements, it has been revealed that the TEM image processing technique can afford more accurate values of droplet size distributions in the submicron range of 0.1 to $0.4{\mu}m$.

  • The current cellular communications are optimized for low mobility users, meaning that their performance is degraded at high speed. Therefore, passengers in a high-speed train experience very poor radio link quality due to the significantly large number of simultaneous handovers. In addition, wireless data traffic is expanding exponentially in trains, subways and buses due to the widespread use of smartphones and mobile devices. To solve the inherent problem of cellular communication networks and meet the growing traffic demand, this paper proposes the mobile hotspot network of a millimeter-wave communication system as a mobile wireless backhaul. This paper describes the physical layer design of uplink and downlink in the proposed system, and the performances of uplink and downlink are evaluated under Rician fading channel conditions. The implemented baseband prototype of the proposed millimeter-wave communication modem is presented. This system can provide a Gbps data rate service in high-speed trains carrying hundreds of wireless Internet users.

  • This paper describes a direct transmission method of multimedia data stream between a multimedia data processor and a communication interface without using system memory. I propose the direct transfer method of multimedia data through the single data path, without additional data path between a multimedia data processor and a communication interface in multimedia platforms. The hardware architecture and functions for the direct transfer method is defined. Procedure to transfer multimedia data to and from the multimedia data processor is described by means of control flow chart. Comparing the proposed method with general methods, I show that the proposed method can decrease number of bus accesses and bus cycles.

  • Inbody is a tool for measuring health information with high reliability and accuracy to analyze body composition. Unlike the existing method of storing/processing and outputting data on the server side, the health information generated by InBody requires accurate support for health sharing and data analysis services using mobile devices. However, in the process of transmitting body composition measurement information to a mobile service, a problem may occur in data transmission/reception processing. The reason for this is that, since the network network in the cloud environment is used, if the connection is cut off or the connection is changed, it is necessary to provide a global service, not a temporary area, focusing on the mobility of InBody information. In addition, since InBody information is transmitted to mobile devices, a standard schema should be defined in the mobile cloud environment to enable information transfer between standardized InBody data and mobile devices. We propose a mobile cloud system using EMRA(Extended Metadata Registry Access) in which a mobile device processes and transmits body data generated in the inbody and manages the data of each local organization with a standard schema. The proposed system processes the data generated in InBody and converts it into a standard schema using EMRA so that standardized data can be transmitted. In addition, even when the mobile device moves through the area, the coordinator subsystem is in charge of providing access services. In addition, EMRA is applied to the collision problem due to schema heterogeneity occurring in the process of accessing data generated in InBody.

  • In recent, as many applications of sensor networks increase, various techniques have been studied to efficiently operate network systems. The query optimization scheme that is one of such techniques has been studied to reduce the data transmission cost. The data transmission is of great importance to the energy consumption of sensor networks. In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient multiple queries processing scheme by sharing sensor readings for multiple queries, when they are occurred in sensor networks. The proposed scheme reduces unnecessary data transmissions among the sensor nodes by intuitively identifying their locations using the grid structure. It also efficiently shares the data by recognizing the redundant regions of sensor nodes. In order to show the superiority of the proposed scheme, we compare it with the existing scheme in various experiments. As the result, the proposed scheme reduces about 65% energy consumption over the existing scheme.

  • On ATM networks, ABR services are provided using the remained bandwidth after allocating CBR and VBR traffic. Realtime services such as transmitting audio or video data may be provided using CBR and VBR which have a constrained transmission delay, but in these cases, the communications bandwidth may be wasted. This paper proposes an efficient bandwidth allocation algorithm to transfer real-time data using ABR service. The proposed algorithm guarantees MCR and allocates bandwidth to each connection proportional to its MCR. The proposed algorithm divides the connections in two groups - a satisfied state group and a bottlenecked state group - and enhances bandwidth utilization by allowing the remained bandwidth after allocating the connections in the satisfied state to be allocated to the connections in the bottlenecked state. Our algorithm uses a Queue control function proposed by Ghani[5] to keep the Queue length within some boundary, which makes the transmission delay constant. We simulate and compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with that of the algorithms proposed by ATM Forum[1] and Kalampoukas[2].

  • Increased use of PDA and Laptop has accelerated the development of wireless networking. With the tendency the need to support efficient and seamless data transmission technique has also been increased. However current mobility management protocol, such as the Mobile If, which is defined in RFC 2002, does not cover well these requirements. To satisfy these requirements, we should reduce Handoff processing time occurred by the movement of MN (Mobile Node) about the other networks. This paper proposes efficient Handoff mechanism on the new Mobile IP architecture using the Extended Macro that is a group organized with subnetworks, and sewed by a new added agent.
