A Study on the Implementation of a Control System with Dual Structure and Its Reliability Analysis (이중구조를 갖는 제어시스템의 구현과 신뢰도 분석에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, a reliable control system structured with dual CPU modules and dual I/O modules is implemented as a means of achieving a highly reliable fault tolerant control system. For this, faults in the system modules are first examined, and a fault detection technique consisting of self diagnostic, comparison process, and exception processing is applied. Self diagnostic is used to locate which components in the modules have been failed, while comparison process is to cmpare control outputs computed by both CPU modules and protect the plant from malfunction by blocking failed control outputsin advance. Finally exception processing is used to determine the faults that are not detected immediately by the self diagnostic and comparison process, e.g. bus error processing when acknowledge signal for data transfer is not activeted in the I/O modules. Also reliability analysis is conducted for the discrete time Markov model with dual structure. It is shown quantitatively that the reliability is improved in the control system with dual structure in comparison with a system with single module structure.

  • Software copyright are written in text form of documents and stored as files, so it is easy to expose on an illegal copyright. The IOT framework configuration and service environment are also evaluated in software structure and revealed to replication environments. Illegal copyright can be easily created by intelligently modifying the program code in the framework system. This paper deals with similarity comparison to determine the suspicion of illegal copying. In general, original source code should be provided for similarity comparison on both. However, recently, the suspected developer have refused to provide the source code, and comparative evaluation are performed only with executable code. This study dealt with how to analyze the similarity with the execution code and the circuit configuration and interface state of the system without the original source code. In this paper, we propose a method of analyzing the data of the object without source code and verifying the similarity comparison result through evaluation examples.

Comparison of code provisions on lap splices

  • The code provisions on lap splices are critically assessed in the light of 203 beams without transverse reinforcement and 278 beams with transverse reinforcement. For comparison, the provisions given in the ACI 318, Eurocode 2, and TS 500 Codes are considered. The ACI Committee 408 recommended provision and a new proposal are also taken into account throughout the assessment. The comparison with real beam tests where the splice region was subjected to constant moment indicates that current provisions in the Codes do not agree acceptably with test results. The steel stress prediction graphs calculated by means of the Code provisions show high scatter and remain unsafe especially for test data without transverse reinforcement. Both the recent recommended provision by ACI Committee 408 and a new design expression proposed by the author have much less scatter with fewer unsafe predictions. The simplified design provision proposed by ACI Committee 408 does not yield similar results to that of the advanced design provision proposed by the same committee and therefore it could conveniently be replaced with the simpler equation proposed by the author.

A Comparative Study of the Disease Codes between Korean National Health Insurance Claims and Korean National Hospital Discharge In-Depth Injury Survey (건강보험 청구 질병코드와 퇴원손상환자심층조사 질병코드 비교 연구)

  • Background: As most of people in Korea are covered by National Health Insurance (NHI), the disease information collected in NHI provides high availability for health policy. Nevertheless, the validity of disease codes in NHI data has been controversial till now. So we tried to evaluate the validity of them by comparing the NHI claims data with Korean National Hospital Discharge In-depth Injury Survey (KNHDIIS) data. Methods: We compared the NHI patients sample data (2009) with the KNHDIIS data (2009). We selected the inpatient data of KNHDIIS and NHI patients sample. The weighted number of patients from NHI patients sample was 5,551,210 and the number of patients from KNHDIIS was 5,559,874. We classified the disease codes into principal diagnoses and other diagnoses, and we compared as one, two, three unit level. Also we calculated the agreement rate of each of them. Results: In the comparison of principal diagnoses, NHI claims data had more C code than KNHDIIS data did, whereas KNHDIIS data had more Z code than NHI claims data did. In the comparison of other diagnoses, NHI claims data had 2, 3 more codes than KNHDIIS data did. The overall agreement rate at three unit level was 76.5% in principal diagnoses and 46.8% in other diagnoses. Conclusion: Considering the large difference between the two data, the validity of disease codes in NHI Claims data seems to be low. To increase the validity of them, the definite detail coding indicator, the reinforcement of coding education, and the reform of system are needed.

  • As the telecommunication market becomes mature in Korea, severe competition has already begun on the market. While service providers struggled for the last couple of years to acquire as many new customers as possible, nowadays they are making more efforts on retaining the current customers. The churn management by analyzing customers' demographic and transactional data becomes one of the key customer retention strategies which most companies pursue. However, the customer data analysis has still remained at the basic level in the industry, even though it has considerable potential as a tool for understanding customer behavior. This paper develops several churn prediction models using data mining techniques such as logistic regression, decision trees, and neural networks. For model-building, real data were used which were collected from one of the major telecommunication companies in Korea. This paper explores various ways of comparing model performance, while the hit ratio was mainly focused in the previous research. The comparison criteria used in this study include gain ratio, Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistics, distribution of the predicted values, and explanation ability. This paper also suggest some guidance for model selection in applying data mining techniques.

Comparison Study on the Estimation Algorithm of Land Surface Temperature for MODIS Data at the Korean Peninsula (MODIS 자료를 이용한 한반도 지표면 온도산출 알고리즘의 비교 연구)

  • Comparison study on the land surface temperatures, which are calculated from four different algorithms for MODIS data, was carried out and the characteristics of each algorithm on land surface temperature estimation were also analysed in this study. Algorithms, which are well used for various satellite data analysis, in the comparisons are proposed by Price, Becker and Li, Ulivieri et al., and Wan. Verification of estimated land surface temperature from each algorithm is also performed using observation based regression data. The coefficient of determination ($R^2$) for daytime land surface temperature estimated from Wan's algorithm is higher than that of another algorithms at all seasons and the value of $R^2$ reach on 0.92 at spring. Although $R^2$ for Ulivieri's algorithm is slightly lower than that for Wan's algorithm, the variation pattern of land surface temperature for two algorithms are similar. However, the difference of estimated values among four algorithms become small at the region of high land surface temperature.

A Study on Fault Detection and Diagnosis of Gear Damages - A Comparison between Wavelet Transform Analysis and Kullback Discrimination Information - (기어의 이상검지 및 진단에 관한 연구 -Wavelet Transform해석과 KDI의 비교-)

  • This paper presents the approach involving fault detection and diagnosis of gears using pattern recognition and Wavelet transform. It describes result of the comparison between KDI (Kullback Discrimination Information) with the nearest neighbor classification rule as one of pattern recognition methods and Wavelet transform to know a way to detect and diagnosis of gear damages experimentally. To model the damages 1) Normal (no defect), 2) one tooth is worn out, 3) All teeth faces are worn out 4) One tooth is broken. The vibration sensor was attached on the bearing housing. This produced the total time history data that is 20 pieces of each condition. We chose the standard data and measure distance between standard and tested data. In Wavelet transform analysis method, the time series data of magnitude in specified frequency (rotary and mesh frequency) were earned. As a result, the monitoring system using Wavelet transform method and KDI with nearest neighbor classification rule successfully detected and classified the damages from the experimental data.

Some features of Korean Seas observed by ADEOS/OCTS

  • The chlorophyll-a concentration measured by OCTS could be used for observing the physical phenomena such as eddies, fronts, and up welling in the oceans as well as for studying the ecology of phytoplankton. In this study, biological and physical features in the East Sea/Japan Sea (the East Sea) and the Yellow Sea observed by OCTS are analyzed in comparison with other satellite data. And in situ chlorophyll data were compared with OCTS Level 2 chlorophyll data. There was a striking correspondence between the satellite chlorophyll structure and other satellite data in the East Sea in the spring. Very complicated ring structures in the 557 are reflected in chlorophyll structure. In the Yellow Sea, the surface structure was rather simple. While the discrepancies between in situ and OCTS algorithm version 3 chlorophyll were small in the East Sea, those for the Yellow Sea were rather big. Comparison with CZCS data for similar time of the year (May-June) shows that OCTS chlorophyll is higher in general. Although the error is partly due to the fact that NASDA chlorophyll algorithm is an empirical algorithm for case 1 water, how much of this error is also due to the errors in sensor calibration or in atmospheric correction is not clear.

  • Constant variance of degradation data over time has been generally assumed to estimate storage lifetime using destructive, accelerated degradation data over time. However, performance data of ammunitions deteriorate over time, and the standard deviation would tend to increase over time. This paper shows storage lifetime comparison results for constant variance and time-variant variance assumptions of degradation data over time, and proposes that time-variant variance assumption should be considered to increase accuracy in lifetime estimation.

The Contents and Value of Pyungyang Darigut Performed in 1955 (1955년 연행 평양 다리굿 자료의 내용 및 가치)

  • This paper is a report on the real aspects of Darigut that was performed in Pyungyang in 1955. The data on 1955 Darigut that is kept in a publishing company through a complicated process contains sound source, records of shamanic songs, and various photo data so it is highly valuable. The Darigut that was eventually known to the world through the performance in Seoul in 1981 is meaningful in itself, but it will have a more solid identity through the comparison with the data on the Darigut of 1955. This paper presented the form in which the data on Pyungyang Darigut remains and deduced the original form of Darigut through the comparison with Seoul Darigut. It is expected that this data will be widely publicized and contribute to the study on Korea's shamanism.
