Hierarchical subband codec has been widely promoted in the field of data compression/decompression because of their simplicity and modular nature. Over the past years, the study has received great attention to the perfect reconstruction (PR)system which perfectly recovers the original input signal at the reconstructed output. However, in the actual subband codec system, the signals that passed through the analysis filter bank are quantized before transmission to the receiver side and reconstructed by the synthesis filter bank. Thus the PR system is impossible and the quantization effects must be carefully considered in the system design such that the system recovers the reconstructed output as possible to the the original input signal with minimum quantization error. In this paper, we propose an optimum hierarchical subband codec structure in the presence of quantizer. The optimality criteria of the code is given to the deign of the hierarchical analysis/synthesis subband filter bank and the quantizer that minimize then output mean square error due to the quantizer in the codec. Specific opti-mum design esamples are shown with level-1, level-2 hierarchical structure. The optimal designs are verified by computer simulation.

We have investigated relationship between particle characteristics of oyster shell powder pigments and their performance such as workability and durability. Three types of the powder which have different particle size and shape(spherical, elliptical, columnar and irregular) distributions were made for this study and we evaluated spreadability and uniformity for workability, and adhesion and surface hardness for durability of painted films by each powder paints. As a result, we found out that the workability and durability of the paints were influenced by the particle shape distribution more than the particle size distribution. The durability, especially, was enhanced as the ratio of columnar particles in the powders was increased. This result verifying the important factor affecting the durability can be base data for selecting oyster shell white paint and assessing its quality for conservation and restoration of Dancheong, as well as to produce high quality traditional paints.
Many clinical trials have shown the effectiveness of the platelet releasate or the platelet gel on chronic wounds. However, the patient's own blood had to be aspirated and processed to make the platelet releasate or a platelet gel. The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of platelet concentrates from the blood bank for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. To obtain the basic data of the PDGF-BB content in platelet concentrates supplied from the blood bank, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay quantification was performed. On average, 8.5 pg of the PDGF-BB was released per 1 million platelets. Sixteen patients with diabetic foot ulcers ranging from 1.0 to $18.0cm^2$(mean, $6.1cm^2$) in size were treated. The platelet concentrates was centrifuged and the precipitantte was mixed with 1 ml of fibrinogen. The platelets and fibrinogen mixture was dispersed on to the ulcer lesions. The liquid platelet and fibrinogen mixture was then sealed using 0.3-1.0 ml of thrombin and moisture dressing was performed. The procedure was repeated every one or two weeks until wound closure. Time required for complete healing ranged from 3 to 12 weeks after treatment (mean, 7.3 weeks). Patient satisfaction was also very positive. In this study, the use of platelet concentrates from the blood bank was found to be effective in treating diabetic foot ulcers.

Capital mobilization is a traditional business of commercial banks and is one of the core foundations for the development of a bank. Capital mobilization is the main input in the operation of a bank, and this is also the basis for generating output for credit activities as well as other banking activities. This study aims to determine the main factors that affect the decisions of individual customers to put savings deposit in Vietnamese commercial banks. Survey data collected from 403 individual customers were analyzed to provide evidence. The results from the multiple regression analysis by using SPSS software revealed that all scales in this study were reliable, and there were six components impacting the savings deposit decision of individual customers from the strongest to the weakest in the following order: the form of promotion, bank brand, service quality, interest rate policy, and employee knowledge and attitude. Besides, the finding showed customers who have high income tend to have a stronger decision on savings deposits in commercial banks. The main findings of this article provide some empirical implications for marketers in banks and serve as a suggestion to improve these factors in order to retain and attract individual customers' savings deposit decisions.
Accurate identification for pathogenic bacterium is an essential element in the clinical microbiology laboratory. We studied molecular analysis involving the identification of Chyseobacterium indologenes and evaluated the seventeen isolates in Korea with the 16S rRNA gene of the ribosome to estimate phylogenetic relationships within the genus Chyseobacterium in GenBank. The aligned data sets for C. indologenes were 1,176 nucleotides. Sequence variation within the C. indologenes was mostly due to nucleotide substitutions. Korean C. indologenes isolates were not strikingly different from the same species found in the other countries. However, the rates of base substitution in Korean C. indologenes isolates were higher than those of other C. indologenes isolates in GenBank. C. indologenes was placed as a sister species to C. isbiliense, C. hominis, C. hispanicum, C. molle, C. hungaricum, and C. pallidum.
We described the above-ground plant species composition and measured a range of soil physico-chemical properties and the composition and size of the soil seed bank in the remnant natural vegetations on the flood plains of the Han River within Seoul, South Korea. We used analysis of variance and multivariate analyses to analyse the data and S${\o}$rensen's similarity index to compare the composition of the vegetation and seed banks. The soils were circum-neutral and composed of mainly sand and silt fractions with a very limited clay component; a gradient based on sand/clay proportions was identified. The soil seed banks varied markedly between- and within-sites and had much greater species diversity than the above-ground vegetation. Two of the major dominants in the vegetation (Miscanthus saccariflorus and Phragmites australis) were found at very low densities in the seed bank. The site differences appeared to be correlated with the sand-clay gradient, suggesting that the soil properties differentially affected seed inputs into the soil, or that the processes than controlled sediment deposition during floods was also important in differentially affecting seed deposition. Lastly, there was relatively little similarity between the vegetation, dominated mainly by perennials, and the seed bank which contained a relatively large proportion of annuals and biennials. This result suggests that after disturbance caused by flooding there is the potential for many other species to colonize. This may impinge on the regeneration potential of the sites and cause concern for the future conservation of these important remnants of natural vegetation.

In this paper we proposed FSFN (Filter bank sub-band energy subtraction based CLSFN) method to improve the recognition performance of the existing CLSFN (Cepstral distance and Log-energy based Silence Feature Normalization). The proposed FSFN reduces the energy of noise components in filter bank sub-band domain when extracting the features from speech data. This leads to extract the enhanced cepstral features and thus improves the accuracy of speech/silence classification using the enhanced cepstral features. Therefore, it can be expected to get improved performance comparing with the existing CLSFN. Experimental results conducted on Aurora 2.0 DB showed that our proposed FSFN method improves the averaged word accuracy of 2% comparing with the conventional CLSFN method, and FSFN combined with CMVN (Cepstral Mean and Variance Normalization) also showed the best recognition performance comparing with others.
This paper analyzes the output characteristics of a self excited induction generator with isolated mode according to change of its speeds and loads for building a hybrid electric propulsion system in special purpose ships by using power take off. The induction generators are being considered as an alternative choice to the well-developed generators because of their lower unit cost, inherent ruggedness, operational and maintenance simplicity. However, the generator working by stand alone has a few problems that the reactive power is required to establish the air gap magnetic flux, and the induced voltage and magnetizing current fluctuate when the load is varied. In spite of its advantages, basic design data of the capacitor bank and behaviors of the output characteristics of the generator are not sufficient for the system. Based on the operating condition(speed range of main engine) of the target boat, a reduced experimental equipment system was constructed to analyze the output characteristics of the SEIG. And a suitable capacitor bank of a stand-alone generator and its output characteristics under various loads was investigated in detail through these experiments. According to the experimental result, it was confirmed that the capacitor bank should be $70{\mu}F{\sim}100{\mu}F$, and the proper SEIG induced voltage should be DC 80 V ~ 250 V in order to storage electrical energy into a battery.

Uric acid is the end product of purine metabolism in human body, originating from hypoxanthine after enzyme catalysis by Xanthine oxidase (XOD). Hyperuricemia results as a result of either over-generation of uric acid or a reduction in its excretion. In silico modelling methods such as Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion and Toxicity (ADMET) prediction, Autodock 4.2.6 program were used to study the potential inhibitory compounds of XOD. Also we investigated the inhibition of XOD activity by using the extracts of Dendropanax morbifera and Rubus coreanus Miq spectrophotometrically. According to ADMET data, several compounds from D. morbifera and R. coreanus plants, were found to be more potent in inhibiting the XOD activity than allopurinol. XOD inhibitory activity is evaluated by quantifying the formation of uric acid by measuring the absorbance at 290 m ($A_{290}$).D. morbifera extract inhibited XOD activity at $250{\mu}g/ml$, however the extracts from R. coreanus has inhibited XOD activity at $25{\mu}g/ml$. The major compound of R. coreanus, ellagic acid significantly increased the inhibition rate from $9{\mu}g/ml$ and showed a 71% suppression rate at $15{\mu}g/ml$. Finally, these results suggested a potential inhibitory activities of the extracts from D. morbifera and R. coreanus Miq, but further research is needed to validate to ensure their safe usage as drug.

Acanthopanacis Cortex has been used for oriental medicinal purposes in Asian countries especially in Korea and China. In the Korean Pharmacopeia, the cortexes of the dried roots, stems and branches of all species in Eleutherococcus and Eleutherococcus sessiliflorus are known as 'Ogapi'. Mostly the cortexes of E. gracilistylus roots and E.senticosus roots were used as 'Ogapi' in China and Japan, respectively. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine and compare the molecular authentication of Korean 'Ogapi' by using the ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region. The ITS region has the highest possibility of effective and successful identification for the widest variety of molecular authentication. The ITS region was targeted for molecular analysis with Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) specific for morphologically similar to E. gracilistylus, E. senticosus, E. sessiliflorus from their adulterant, moreover, E. sieboldianus were detected within sequence data. Thus, based on these SNP sites, specific primers were designed and multiplex PCR analysis were conducted for molecular authentication of four plants (E. gracilistylus, E. senticosus, E. sessiliflorus, and E. sieboldianus). The findings of results indicated that ITS region might be established multiplex-PCR analysis systems and hence were proved to be an effective tools for molecular evaluation and comparison of 'Ogapi' with other plants.
