  • There is a lot of interest in the data storage and backup systems according to increasing the data intensive services and related user's data. The overhead of backup performance in massive storage system is a critical issue because the traditional incremental backup strategies causes the time consuming bottleneck in the SAN environment. The SANique Smart Vault system is a high performance backup solution with data de-duplication technology and it guarantees these requirements. In this paper, we describe the architecture of SANique Smart Vault system and illustrate efficient delta incremental backup method based on journaling files. We also present the record-level data de-duplication method in our proposed backup system. The proposed forever incremental backup and data de-duplication algorithms are analyzed and investigated by performance evaluation of other commercial backup solutions.

  • With the development of IT technology, the amount of digital contents used in various environments of wired/wireless networks have been increased hugely and rapidly To protect the loss of the digital contents from the sudden accident, continuous data backup is required. In this paper, we design and implement the backup system that stores digital contents in backup storage by objectifying the contents with a unit of I/O size and giving them the unique E using the properties of digital contents to avoid duplicated store of the same data. The backup system reduces the amount of backup data efficiently by backing up the only one copy of the duplicated data. as a result, the backup system can back up the digital contents more efficiently in a constrained storage space.

  • Recently, with the development of data communication techniques and storage devices, many researches have been done to process a large amount of data. As the size of storage media has been increased because of the storage technologies such as NAS and SAN, the efficient backup for a large amount of data is required. In this paper, we design and implement a disk based backup software that fully supports NDMP(Network Data Management Protocol) which is an open standard protocol for network based backup. The proposed backup software supports various types of backup and restore. In addition, it manages multiple network connected devices and supports a disk based backup by extending the NDMP protocol.

  • Due to the movement of nodes, ad-hoc networks suffer from the problems such as the decrease of data delivery ratio, the increase of end-to-end delay, and the increase of routing overhead. The backup routing schemes try to solve these problems by finding the backup routes during the route discovery phase and using them when a route fails. Generally the backup routing schemes outperform the single-path routing schemes in terms of data delivery ratio, end-to-end delay, and routing overhead when the nodes move rapidly. But when the nodes don't move rapidly, the backup routing schemes generate more routing traffics than the single-path routing schemes because they need to exchange packets to find the backup route. In addition, when the backup route fails earlier than the main route, it can not use the backup route because in many backup route algorithms, the backup route is found only at the initial route discovery phase. RBR(Reactive Backup Routing Algorithm) proposed in this paper is an algorithm that provides more stable data delivery than the previous backup routing schemes through the selective maintenance of backup route and the backup route rediscovery. To do that RBR prioritize the backup routes, and maintain and use them selectively Thus it can also decrease the routing overheads. Also, RBR can increase data delivery ratio and decrease delay because it reestablishes the backup route when the network topology changes. For the performance evaluation, OPNET simulator is used to compare RBR with the single-path routing scheme and some of the well known backup routing schemes.

  • In this paper, we develop system to backup automatically personal data by real time based on ECA model. This system backups data that is changed in user PC using CDP technology based on ECA model. Proposed ECA model defines file's change such as file creation, update, remove etc. in user PC to event for synchronization between server and user PC. If event is detected about file, proposed system examines condition that is defined and backup the file to server. Backup data that is stored to server can recovery on point of time that user wants. The proposed system can be applied to data management system for business, personal data management system, high-capacity contents management system etc.

  • In this dissertation, in the light of the above situations, we intend to use new approach for stable and fast backup system. The approach that we propose network and software infrastructure has three different ways by comparison with existing network backup systems. First of all, we use a socket communication so that resolve the shortcoming of weakness of securities; second, TBD utility for minimizing target system loads in the way of instant operating; and third, time division and bandwidth division backup method considered transfer data size(byte) might be useful more stable and fast comparing with FTP Transfer.

  • The stability and security management of IT data becomes more important because information security threats increases rapidly in Big Data era. The operational policy of the data backup considering information security threats is required because the backup policy is the fundamental method that prevents the damage of security threats. We present an economic approach for a data backup system with information security threats which damage the system. The backup operation consists of the differential backup and the batch backup. We present a stochastic model considering the occurrence of information security threats and their damage. We analyze the stochastic model to derive the performance measures for the cost analysis. Finally we analyze the average cost of the system and give numerical examples.

In this paper, we design and implement a backup software for SAN that fully supports NDMP. The NUMP is an open standard protocol for network-based backup. The proposed backup software has various unique features such as SAN based tan free backup, automatic and manual backup, on-line backup by using snap shot, file-system, raw-device, database backup and so on. The proposed backup software also can be configured as a backup center that uses SAN as a backup media.

  • Smartphone can save many data because it provide various function such as call, message, calendar, document, camera, and so on. They include a number of important things like personal information. Thus it is necessary to backup the data to deal with smartphone change and a threat like ransomware. In this paper, we analyze the backup method using PC among several backup methods and check the possibility of leakage of personal information such as contacts from backup file. It is expected to be used to check the problems of the PC backup method or to strengthen the more secure backup technology.

  • Software defined networking (SDN) is considered to be one of the most promising paradigms in the future. To solve the scalability and performance problem that a single and centralized controller suffers from, the distributed multi-controller architecture is adopted, thus forms multi-domain SDN. In a multi-domain SDN network, it is of great importance to ensure a reliable control plane. In this paper, we focus on the reliability problem of multi-domain SDN against controller failure from perspectives of backup controller deployment and controller replication. We firstly propose a placement algorithm for backup controllers, which considers both the reliability and the cost factors. Then a controller replication mechanism based on shared data storage is proposed to solve the inconsistency between the active and standby controllers. We also propose a shared data storage layout method that considers both reliability and performance. Besides, a fault recovery and repair process is designed based on the controller backup and shared data storage mechanism. Simulations show that our approach can recover and repair controller failure. Evaluation results also show that the proposed backup controller placement approach is more effective than other methods.
