  • The Yangdong traditional historic village is a representative village having symbolic historic values and unique combinations of natural, cultural, and social characteristics of a Korean historic settlement environment, which has been protected by Cultural Asset Protection Law since 1984. Now, in spite of its potential diverse powers, national strategies concerning Yangdong village do not have satisfactory direction and results. In consideration of this notion, this paper is designed to find and to understand the current state of Yangdong village. This paper aims to analyze The changes in Yangdong village between 1994 and 2002, and through these comparisons, to diagnose and predict future aspects of Yangdong village. Primary data was collected by questionnaire investigation between 1994 and 2002. The living conditions, production, and consciousness of residents of Yangdong village are utilized as standards of analysis. The final analysis results can be summarized as follows: because of the Cultural Asset Protection Law, noticeable changes have occurred in Yangdong village over the last 8 years. These change are different from the ones occurring in general farm villages. Also, most issues related to the changes are interpreted as occurring as a result of the top-down approach, which disregards the opinions and wishes of residents. For this, introduction of renovation concept that emphasizes modernization of life and production space is urgently required. To this end, it is necessary that concern for the traditional historic village should diversity and expand, and not concentrate solely on the cultural properties and architecture-oriented historic elements.

  • Purpose - It seems common sense that corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a key driver of business sustainability. Nevertheless, there has been little research on the performance of socially responsible activities, including economic and environmentally responsibility activities, in internationally diversified firms. Design/methodology - The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of CSR activities on management performance. For this evaluation, an empirical analysis was conducted with total of 2,520 cases, selected from companies listed on the Korea Composite Stock Price Index market for six years from 2013 to 2018. As proxies for management performance, financial data such as a total asset net profit ratio and a total asset operating ratio were used. A multivariate regression analysis was conducted to test hypotheses. Findings - The results of this analysis indicated that firms in the CSR outstanding group were ranked significantly higher than other groups in management performance. In addition, CSR activities of internationally diversified firms positively influenced the total asset net profit ratio and total asset operating ratio. Originality/value - The results suggest that the CSR activities of these firms can play a significant role in enhancing management performance in the economic status of Korea, where the degree of export dependency is high.

  • There are many asset prices which are interlinked and have a bearing on the stock market index. Studies have shown that the interrelationship among these asset prices vary and are inconsistent. The ultimate aim of this study is to examine the dynamic relationship between gold price, oil price, exchange rate and stock index. Monthly time series data has been utilized by the researcher to examine the interrelationship between four variables. The relationship among stock exchange rate index, oil price and gold price have been undertaken using regression and granger causality test. The results indicate that the exchange rate and oil price have an indirect influence on NIFTY; whereas gold price had a direct impact on NIFTY. It is evident from the results that volatility in the price of gold is mainly dependent on the exchange rate and vice versa. All the variables affect NIFTY in some way or the other. However, gold has a direct and vital relationship. From the study findings, it can be concluded that macroeconomic variables like commodity prices and foreign exchange rate, gold and oil, have a strong relationship on the return on securities at the national stock exchange of India.

  • The purpose of this study was (1) to assess the level of financial management and financial goal attainment on housing purchase and children's educational expenditure, (2) to identify individual, family and environment variables which influence financial goal attainment, and (3) to investigate causal relation of variables which affect financial goal attainment. Data were collected from questionnaire with 772 married women who were residents of Jeonju. The major finding were as follows; (1) The levels of financial management and financial goal attainment on housing purchase and children's educational expenditure were middle. (2) The variables which exerted direct effects on financial goal attainment on housing purchase were time orientation of consumption life, asset, income stability, easiness in extending credit, financial planning, and financial implementing. the most powerful predictor of financial goal attainment on housing purchase was asset. (30 The variables which exerted direct effects on financial goal attainment on children's educational expenditure were time orientation of consumption life, asset, children's presence on the camp8us, easiness I extending credit, financial planning, and financial implementing. • The purpose of this study is to suggest management information through the analysis of relationships between financial characteristics and financial performance to the owners and managers of super deluxe hotels in Korea. The data of super deluxe hotels were collected by the electronic F/S announcement system. Forty-two hotels, which have financial statements for the previous three consecutive years were chosen as the sample of analysis. Return on total assets and times interest earned, asset turnover, current ratio of the super deluxe hotels are correlated. Return on total assets and asset turnover, sales growth rate, times interest earned are also correlated. And productivity and asset turnover of chain hotels are correlated. Based on this study, it can be concluded that chain hotels are maily correlated with growth ratio and activity ratio. Otherwise non-chain hotels are mainly correlated with current ratio and safety ratio.

  • On the basis of intertemporal utility maximization theory and stock-adjustment hypothesis, a multivariate stock-adjustment credit demand model, which included on- and cross-adjustment effects of credit and cross-adjustment effects of assets was developed. With weighted four-year panel data from 1983 and 1986 Surveys of Consumer Finances, the theoretical model was tested using two-stage estimation method for tobit model. The results supported the hypothesis that, in general, the household demand for a certain type of credit was related to the demand for other types of credit and asset components in the portfolio. The household demand for mortgage credit, installment credit and revolving credit card debt depended not only on the disequilibrium of itself but on the disequilibrium of the other types of credit and asset components in the portfolio. The household demand for non-installment credit was related not to the disequilibrium of itself and other types of credit but to the disequilibria of asset components in the portfolio.

  • This paper describes the modeling of the failure rate estimation technique for applying the asset management technique to electric power facilities. There are many modeling techniques to estimate the failure rate. In this paper, the characteristics of the normal distribution, exponential distribution, weibull distribution, and piecewise linear functions are discussed. When evaluating reliability, the evaluation may be less meaningful if the sample data is insufficient. Therefore, Weibull distribution and piecewise linear function are adopted as the most suitable functions for estimating the failure rate of power facilities and the resulting failure rate function is derived.
