소리쟁이속 잡초종자의 발아 특성 (The Germination Characteristics of Rumex spp. Seeds)

  • 온도조건과 광의 유무에 의한 소리쟁이속 잡초종자의 발아특성을 조사한 결과, 발아 시작점은 참소리쟁이가 치상 4일 후로 가장 빨랐으며 돌소리쟁이(5일), 소리쟁이(6일), 좀소리쟁이(10일)의 순으로 나타났다. 소리쟁이속 잡초의 최적 발아온도는 공시 잡초종자 모두 $15^{\circ}C$에서 가장 높은 발아율을 보였으며, 돌소리쟁이가 $10^{\circ}C{\sim}30^{\circ}C$까지 높은 발아율을 보여 온도에 있어 가장 넓은 발아스펙트럼을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 1996년 수집하여 저온저장한 참소리쟁이와 2004년 수집된 참소리쟁이 간의 종자생존력을 비교한 결과, 두 초종간의 유의차는 인정되지 않아 참소리쟁이는 저온저장 할 경우 8년 이상의 종자생존력을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 조사기간 중 암조건에서 수행한 모든 처리에서 발아는 보이지 않았다. 소리쟁이속 잡초의 발아특성을 수량화한 결과, 참소리쟁이는 다른 소리쟁이속 잡초에 비해 가장 높은 누적발아율을 보이며 발아에 균일성을 보였다. 돌소리쟁이는 참소리쟁이나 소리쟁이에 비해 발아에 걸리는 평균일수나 발아속도가 가장 빠른 것으로 나타났다.

국제종자검정협회(ISTA) 변온조건에서 비탈면 복원용 주요 초화류의 발아율 및 발아속도 (Germination Percentage and Speed under International Seed Testing Association Conditions of Main Herbaceous Plants Used on the Slope)

  • Research was initiated to investigate germination characteristics and germination pattern of 14 herbaceous plant entries used on the road slope during 30 days. An alternative germination condition for 14 herbaceous plant entries required by International Seed Testing Association(ISTA) was applied in the experiment, consisting of 8-hr light at $25^{\circ}C$ and 16-hr dark at $15^{\circ}C$. Significant differences were observed in the first germination rate(0.3%~40.7%)and in the final germination rate(7.7%~93.3%). Days to the first germination(2~8days), days to the 30% germination(2~6days) and days to the peak germination(6~18days) were different among 14 herbaceous plant entries in the study. From this result, we could find out higher final germination rate of 14 herbaceous plant entries in the following order; First, forage crops and cool-season turfgrasses; Second, herbeceous flowers; Third, wild plants. We could also divide germination rate among 14 herbaceous plant entries as 6 groups(I;very high, II;high, III;medium high, IV;medium low, V;low, VI;very low) based on the final germination rate and divide germination speed as 5 groups(A;very fast, B;fast, C;normal, D;slow, E;very slow)based on days to the peak germination. Considering germination characteristics and pattern of 14 herbaceous plant entries Medicago sativa, Lolium perenne, Festuca arundinacea and Cosmos sulphureus were regard as dominating species while Lespedeza cuneata, Silene armeria, Lotus corniculatus var.japonicus, Coreopsis tinctoria and Centaurea cyanus as competitive species following dominating species. However, Chrysanthemum burbankii, Pennisetum alopecuroides, Chrysanthemum boreale., Artemisia princeps var. orientalis and Arundinella hirta were not almost expected to emerge.

Echinochloa colona 종자(種子)의 휴면(休眠) 및 발아특성(發芽特性) (SEED DORMANCY AND GERMINATION BEHAVIOUR OF ECHINOCHLOA COLONA)

  • E. colona 종자(種子)의 휴면성(休眠性) 및 광(光)과 발아관여기체(發芽關與氣體)에 대한 발아(發芽) 반응성(反應性)을 조사(調査)하였다. E. colona는 휴면상성(休眠賞醒)을 위해 후숙기간(後熟期間)을 요(要)하지 않하였다. 종피(種皮)를 통(通)한 수분(水分) 이동(移動)은 용이(容易)하였다. 수화(水和) 및 건조(乾燥)의 반복처리(反復處理)는 종자(種子)의 발아력(發芽力)을 감소(減少)시켰다. 24 시간(時間)의 종자(種子) 침윤(浸潤)으로 수분함량(水分含量)은 21%까지 증가(增加)되었으나, 실온(室溫)에서 13 시간(時間) 후(後)에는 원상태(原狀態)로 회복(回復)되었다. 종피(種皮)의 제거(除去)는 암조건하(暗條件下)에서 발아율(發芽率)을 현저히 증가(增加)시켰으며, 광(光)은 완전종자(完全種子)의 발아(發芽)를 촉진(促進)시켰다. 일광도(日光度) 51.9$Wm^{-2}$ 이하(以下)의 조건하(條件下)에서의 발아(發芽)는 현저하게 감소(減少)되었다. 광조사(光照射) 1일(日) 1시간(時間) 처리(處理)는 1일(日) 2 시간(時間) 이상(以上) 처리(處理)에 비하여 현저하게 낮은 발아율(發芽率)을 보였다. 청색광(靑色光) 조사(照射) 종자(種子)는 적색광(赤色光) 조사(照射)에 비하여 발아(發芽)가 지연(遲延)되었으며, 발아율(發芽率)도 낮았다. 광존재하(光存在下)에 외생적(外生的)으로 처리(處理)한 에칠렌 및 탄산가스는 발아(發芽)를 촉진(促進)시켰으며, 이 두 기체(氣體)의 동시처리(同時處理)는 공력효과(共力效果)를 나타내었다. 그러나 암조건하(暗條件下)에서는 이 두 기체(氣體)의 작용력(作用力)이 나타나지 않하였다.

Light Quality during Seed Imbibition Affects Germination and Sprout Growth of Soybean

  • Soybean seeds were treated with blue, red and far-red lights for 0, 6, 12, and 24 hours during 24-hour imbibition before culture for 6 days. The soybean sprouts raised were classified by their hypocotyl lengths; normal (>4cm), abnormal (<4cm) and non-germination, and their lateral roots, hypocotyl diameters and component dry weights were measured. Red light treatment and dark imbibition reduced the abnormal soybean sprouts more than far-red and blue light treatments, meaning that the former treatments produced more commercial sprouts. The lateral roots were more formed in blue light and dark imbibition than the other light treatments, but were completely blocked by any light treatment lasted during the whole imbibition. Although any light quality treatment did not influence their primary root lengths, blue light one lengthened the hypocotyl more than the others treated during the imbibition, and far-red light enlarged its diameter. Despite this morphological change, component, total or economic yield was not significantly different among the light quality treatments during the imbibition.

Enhancement of Seed Germination by Aging, Cold-stratification, and Light Quality during Desiccation in Burcucumber (Sicyos Angulatus L.)

  • Seeds of burcucumber were treated with accelerated aging, cold-stratification, and light quality illuminated during desiccation to enhance their germination and seedling emergence. The germination was increased by aging and cold-stratification although the latter treatment showed greater effectiveness than the former one. In the combined treatment of aging 6 days at $45^{\circ}C$ and cold-stratification, the germination was promoted under longer period of cold-stratification to reach nearly 100% in 3 week cold-stratification on the ninth day from sowing. In the sequentially combined treatment of aging, cold-stratification, and light quality during 24 hour desiccation at $35^{\circ}C$, no-stratified seeds showed the highest rate in red light treatment but the lowest in far-red light. This implies that the phytochrome action run during the desiccation of imbibed seeds. The red light exposure during drying for the cold-stratified seeds after aging accelerated the germination even more than the dark treatment and germinated 100% on the next day of sowing. It is concluded that the sequential treatment of aging, cold-stratification, and red light illumination during desiccation can highly promote percentage and speed of burcucumber seed germination.

  • Ethanol extracts of Mung Bean seeds and seedings were analysed by 2-dimensional and circular paper partion chromatography for Nitrogen compounds as a part of the study on the Amino acids metabolism. In the seeds, 18 ninhydrin positive substances were present, before germination, but the number increased to 21 after germination. There were 3 unknown substances and one of it formed newly after germination. After 2-days germination, the amount of amides, such as Asparagine and Glutamine. where increased very large which were very small amount before it. Those were accumulated more in dark place than in light and the amount of Asparigine were more than that of Glutamine. Through the germination, there were large amount of Glutarmic acid, Aspartic acid and Alanine which seems to be concerned in transamination reaction in seedings. Valine, Leucine, and Phenylalanine increased to considerable amount after germination. This is very remarkable fact as those Amino acids were reported to be concerned in transamination reaction recently. ${\gamma}$-amino butyric acid was detected in both Cotyledon and Embroy through the germination. It seemed that there is no any Nitrogen Metabolism in the unbroken seed even if it is preserved very long period.

Priming, 온도 및 광질이 미국자리공 종자의 발아에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Priming, Temperature and Light Quality on Germination of Pokeweed(Phytolacca americana) Seed)

  • 미국자리공은 용도가 다양하고 유용한 기능성 물질을 다량으로 함유하고 있어 선진국에서는 활발한 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 그러나 우리 나라에서는 환경오염이 심한 공단 인접지역에 거대한 군낙을 형성하여 생태계 파괴를 가속화하는 식물로 알려져 있어서 이의 자원화 및 번식억제에 대한 기초 자료를 제공하기 위하여 발아에 관여하는 요인으로서 nitrates를 이용한 priming, 온도 및 광질이 미국자리공의 종자발아에 미치는 영향을 추적하고자 시험을 실시하였던 바 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 발아율은 priming 하지 않은 것에 비하여 priming 처리한 종자에서 현저히 높았으며, 치상 8일 후부터 C3(NO$_3$)$_2$처리에 비하여 KNO$_3$ 처리에서 높은 것으로 나타났다. 2. KNO$_3$를 이용한 priming 처리에서 처리 농도를 증가할수록 발아율은 증가하나 150mM과 300mM간에는 차이가 없었고, priming 처리기간에 차이가 거의 없는 1일과 3일에 비하여 6일간 처리할 때에는 발아가 현저히 둔화되었다. 3. 광질에 관계없이 발아온도 2$0^{\circ}C$ 항온에서는 발아가 거의 일어나지 않았으며, 주/야 20/3$0^{\circ}C$ 변온, 3$0^{\circ}C$ 항온, 주야 30/2$0^{\circ}C$ 변온의 순서로 발아율이 증가하였다. 4. 암상태보다는 빛이 있는 조건에서 발아율이 높았으며, 백색광에 비하여 적색광에서 발아율이 현저히 증가하였다. 5. 주/야 30/2$0^{\circ}C$ 또는 20/3$0^{\circ}C$ 변온에서 Priming을 가한 종자는 암상태에서도 발아되었다.-chamigrene, 1-(1,5-diMe-4-hexenyl) -4-mebenzene, $\beta$-endesmol의 성분이, 줄기의 경우는 sabinene, $\beta$-myrcene, ι-limonene, phellamdrene, $\alpha$-terpinene, ledene, 1-borneol, ${\gamma}$-terpinene, 2,4a,5,6,7,8,9,9a-octahydroben-zocycloheptane, elemol, ${\gamma}$-selinene, cis-3-hexanal, (Z)-3-hexen-1-ol acetate, ${\gamma}$-elemene, $\delta$-guaiene, $\delta$-cadinene, 9-octadecanal, 1-(1,5-diMe-4-hexenyl) -4-mebenzeno, $\beta$-endesmol, $\alpha$-charugrene의 향기성분이 주요 성분군으로 확인되었다. 2. 생강나무에서 생강의 향기를 발산하는 성분으로는 $\beta$-myrcene, o-terpinolene, phellandrone, ι-limonene, $\beta$-eudesmol, $\delta$-cadinone, elemol, trans-caryophyllene으로 동정되었으며 그 중에서도 phellandrene, $\beta$-eudesmol이 주된 역할을 하는 성분으로 확인하였다. 유의적인 관련성이 나타났고, 복부 비만의 지표인 허리엉덩이둘레비는 GPT, alkaline phosphatase, 공복시

Seed shape of Peucedanum japonicum Thunberct is ovate. Color of seed coats varied from yellow to dark brown. Seed size is 5.3mm in length, 4.2mm in width. One thousand-seed weight of Peucedanum japonicum Thunberct is 4,010mg. Optimum temperatures for seed germination and seedling growth range from 20 to $25^{\circ}C$.

  • Special objective of this study is to investigate morphological characteristics of seeds and effects of environmental factors such as light and temperature on their germination and seedling growth of Angelica acutilobu in Umbelliferae plants, using them as oriental medicine materials. Seed shape of Angelica acutilobu is ovate. Color of seed coats varied from yellow to dark brown. Seed size was 5.5 mm in length, 4.0mm in width. One thousand-seed weight of Angelica acutilobus was 3,210mg. Optimum temperatures for seed germination and seedling growth ranged from 20 to $25^{\circ}C$.

Seed shape of Codonopsis lanceolata is Elliptic. Platycodon glandiflorum is Oblong. Color of seed coats varied from yellow to dark brown. Seed size of Adenophora triphylla var. japonica is 1.37mm in length, 0.69mm in width. One thousand-seed weight of Adenophora triphylla var. japonica is 258mg. Seed size of Codonopsis lanceolata is 4.45mm in length, 2.11mm in width. One thousand-seed weight of Codonopsis lanoceolata is 1,278mg. Seed size of Platycodon glandiflorum is 2.31mm in length, 1.10mm in width. One thousand-seed weight of Platycodon glandiflorum is 988mg. Optimum temperatures for seed germination and seedling growth range from 20 to $25^{\circ}C$.
