  • The purpose of this study is to check awareness of 'the phenomenon of women's alienation in Yon-Ko-Jeon' to women students, and improve the gender equality for Yon-Ko-Jeon through IPA(Importance Performance Analysis). For this study, 322 women undergraduates at Yonsei University and Korea University, from sophomore to senior students, are selected and asked to be surveyed. At first, a majority of women students from two universities didn't recognize the lack of women sports and athletes in Yon-Ko-Jeon. Moreover, they didn't think about women's alienation in Yon-Ko-Jeon as well as improvement for the issue seriously. It shows the life style of gender in the sport. Second, as a result of IPA, improvement plan of Yon-Ko-Jeon on gender equality shows it needs to reflect member's opinion and introduce women sports clubs first. Recently, the improvement for the Yon-Ko-Joen is the top priority because the event doesn't reflect member's opinion. Furthermore, it shows that Yon-Ko-Jeon needs to introduce the competition of women's club sports. These are what the event has to improve.

  • The aim of this study was to determine importance of coaching knowledge and university curriculum from the perspectives of physical activity lectures. This study focused on importance of knowledge on physical activity education, experiences of teaching methods classes and training programs, comparative importance of coaching knowledge and university education, perceived difficulties in coaching and solutions, and coaching related knowledge needed to learn in their university training. Data were collected from 112 physical activity lectures working in commercial, community, and school settings. Results from qualitative and quantitative data revealed that they perceived knowledge of sport pedagogy very important when coaching their classes or members. While they took fewer coaching methods classes in their universities, their experiences from the classes were helpful in coaching. The differences between perceived importance and the level of education were greater in the areas including consultation of members, management of membership, and communication with members. They tried to solve difficulties by themselves or wanted to discuss with colleagues and employers. If possible they also wanted to seek educational consulting. In order to acquire adequate coaching knowledge the lectures need to received systematic training regarding sports skills teaching methods, theories and practices of various sports, and planning of sports skills coaching while they were in university programs.

  • In this study, changes and emotions that result from doing yoga and the influence of yoga on daily lives were investigated by using causal network. This information was gathered from interviews and outlined in a diagram form. By checking the daily participation records of 77 participants who took a yoga class as part of the cultural studies curriculum at H University, general factors related to change were extracted and then 7 participants were chosen for in-depth interviews. In the interviews, the changes experienced from doing yoga and the emotions caused by the change and the influence this change had on daily lives were documented and the collected results were displayed in a diagram using causal network according to the flow of questionnaire. As a result, the changes experienced through doing yoga were divided in 4 categories: physical function, emotional, cognitive and physiological changes. Each change and emotion caused by the change were shown to have an influence on daily lives. Through schematized causal network for each change, the changes and emotions which the participants experienced and the influence of yoga on daily lives could be checked. Based on the study results, the effect of yoga, the need for various approaches to examine the effect exercise has on emotions and the applicability of causal network that can be employed as a creative and effective quantitative data analysis method were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relations between the segments of the body, the three dimensional anatomical angle and the angular velocity of the air born phase and understand the control mechanism of the high-bar movement, the somersault, the double somersault, the double somersault with full twist. For this study seven well trained university gymnastic volunteered, Zatsiorky and Seluyanov(1983, 1985)'s sixteen segment system anatomical model was used for this study. For the movement analysis three dimensional cinematographical method(Arial Performance Analysis System : APAS) was used and for the calculation of the kinematic variables a self developed program was used with the LabVIEW 5.1 graphical profromming(Johnson, 1999) program. By using Eular's equations the three dimensional anatomical Cardan angles of the joint and angular velocity were defined. As a result of this study 1. As the rotation of the body increased in the air born phase the projection angle of the CM of the total increased, this resulted the increased of the max hight of the CM. 2. In three dimensional angular velocity the Z axis(vertical direction) projection angular velocity increased as the rotation of the body increased in the airborn phase, but the Y axis and the X axis projection angular velocity did not show significant differences. 3. As the rotation of the body increased in the air born phase the angular movement of the shoulder and the hip showed significant change. These movement act as the starter in the preparation phase. 4. The somersault angle, the twist angle, the tilt angle of the upper body related to the global reference frame in the releas phase the average somersault angle of the three types of high-bar movement was $57.7^{\circ}$, $38.8^{\circ}$, $39.7^{\circ}$, the average tilt angle was $-1.5^{\circ}$, $-5.4^{\circ}$, $-8.4^{\circ}$, the average twist angle was $13.4^{\circ}$, $10.6^{\circ}$, $23.3^{\circ}$. This result showed that the somersault with full twist had the largest movement.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the preceding studies and suggest alternatives to establish the role and value of martial arts sports as a leisure activity. To achieve the purpose of this study, the keywords and themes of leisure-related journals were extracted and the articles and current status of martial arts-related journals in Korea were derived using SPSS descriptive statistics method. The subjects of the analysis were 'mudo' and 'leisure' of leisure-related journals between 2005 and 2017, and an interpretative textual analysis was conducted to analyze the contents of individual studies. According to the results of the survey on the actual condition of participation in the 2016 National Sports for all, Taekwondo was ranked 5th among the top 5 sports with 6.1% of the sports for all, and Taekwondo and Kendo were ranked 1st and 2nd respectively in the sports for all students and the clubs that they want to join in the future. Second, the study on martial arts in the journals related to leisure was found most in 2006 and 2010, but only one study was not conducted after 2014, which confirmed that the absolute number of studies was very insufficient. Third, the research themes of the journals related to leisure were serious leisure, female college students, physical self-concept, social development, leisure recreation class, job satisfaction, life satisfaction, training, leisure constraints, etc., and the study of martial arts related to leisure was found to require quantitative and qualitative multilateral approaches. Fourth, in the current status of dance related studies by year in domestic journals, two of 23 studies in 2007 were conducted on leisure topics, and the average number of studies related to domestic martial arts and leisure related papers was 5.65%, which is very low. In conclusion, as a result of analyzing the trend of research on leisure as a martial arts sport, it is necessary to suggest the direction of future research that can reconsider the role and value of martial arts sport as a leisure activity that can improve the quality of life and happiness in future society through quantitative and qualitative improvement.

  • Dementia such as poor concentration, anxiety and tension makes it hard to continue exercise in reality. For this, intermediate exercise is suggested in this study. And the study investigates the effects on senior fitness, cognitive function(MMSE-K) and daily living activity(ADL) by continuous exercise and intermittent exercise, which helps to provide proper exercise treatment to them. For this, female elderly patients at A dementia hospital in B Metropolitan city are selected and they have been diagnosed with possible Alzheimer's disease according to DSM-IV. Among them, six(6) are grouped for continuous exercise and five(5) for intermediate exercise, total 11 people are finally tested. They are given hand&foot exercise, Korean folk dance and band exercise three times a week for the total 12 weeks. The continuous exercise group does their exercise one time of 30 minutes a day while the intermediate exercise group for three times of each 10 minute a day. For the result, SPSS Ver. 18.0 is used to get mean value(M) and standard deviation(SD) and in order to verify the interaction effect between exercise group and time, two-way repeated ANOVA is applied and statistical significance level is set at .05. The result shows that there is significant difference in time between senior fitness and cognitive function. But there is no significant difference in group and time${\times}$group. And there is no significant difference in time, group and time${\times}$group for daily living activity. Continuous exercise group and intermediate exercise group both have the similar effects. That does not mean that intermediate exercise is the best for all people with dementia, but in terms of exercise time, intermittent exercise may be effective for patients of light dementia.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the local stability of the lower extremity joints and muscle activation patterns of the lower extremity during walking between falling and non-falling group in the elderly women. Method: Forty women, heel strikers, were recruited for this study. Twenty subjects (age:72.55±5.42yrs; height:154.40±4.26cm; mass:57.40±6.21kg; preference walking speed:0.52±0.17m/s; fall frequency=1.70±1.26 times) had a history falls(fall group) within two years and Twenty subjects (71.90±2..90yrs; height:155.28±4.73cm; mass:56.70±5.241kg; preference walking speed: 0.56±0.13m/s) had no history falls(non-fall group). While they were walking on a instrumented treadmill at their preference speed for a long while, kinematic and EMG signals were obtained using 3-D motion capture and wireless EMG electrodes, respectively. Local stability of the ankle and knee joint were calculated using Lyapunov Exponent (LyE) and muscles activation and their co-contraction index were also quantified. Hypotheses were tested using one-way ANOVA and Mann-Whitey. Spearman rank was also used to determine the correlation coefficients between variables. Level of significance was set at p<.05. Results: Local stability in the knee joint adduction-abduction was significantly greater in fall group than non-fall group(p<.05). Activation of anterior tibials that acts on the foot segment dorsal flexion was greater in non-fall group than fall group(p<.05). CI between gastrocnemius and anterior tibials was found to be significantly different between two groups(p<.05). In addition, there was significant correlation between CI of the leg and LyE of the ankle joint flexion-extention in the fall group(p<.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, muscles that act on the knee joint abduction-adduction as well as gastrocnemius and anterior tibials that act on the ankle joint flexion-extention need to be strengthened to prevent from potential fall during walking.
