실험자료를 기반한 국내 원형단면 철근콘크리트 휨교각의 손상수준 별 횡변위비 산정 (Estimation of Drift Ratio by Damage Level for Flexural RC Piers With Circular Cross-Section Based on Experimental Data in Korea)

  • In order to determine fragility curves, the limit state of piers for each damage level is suggested in this paper based on the previous test results in Korea, including our test results. In previous studies, the quantitative measures for damage levels of piers have been represented by curvature ductility, lateral drift ratio, or displacement ductility. These measures are transformed to lateral drift ratios of piers for consistency, and the transformed values are compared and verified with our push-over test results for flexural RC piers with a circular cross-section. The test specimens are categorized concerning the number of lap-splices in the plastic hinge region and whether seismic design codes are satisfied or not. Based on the collected test results in Korea, including ours, the lateral drift ratio for each pier damage level is suggested.

Collision-Damage Analysis of a Floating Offshore Wind Turbine Considering Ship-Collision Risk

  • As the number of offshore wind-power installations increases, collision accidents with vessels occur more frequently. This study investigates the risk of collision damage with operating vessels that may occur during the operation of an offshore wind turbine. The floater used in the collision study is a 15 MW UMaine VolturnUS-S (semi-submersible type), and the colliding ships are selected as multi-purpose vessels, service operation vessels, or anchor-handling tug ships based on their operational purpose. Collision analysis is performed using ABAQUS and substantiation is performed via a drop impact test. The collision analyses are conducted by varying the ship velocity, displacement, collision angle, and ship shape. By applying this numerical model, the extent of damage and deformation of the collision area is confirmed. The analysis results show that a vessel with a bulbous bow can cause flooding, depending on the collision conditions. For damage caused by collision, various collision angles must be considered based on the internal stiffener arrangement. Additionally, the floater can be flooded with relatively small collision energy when the colliding vessel has a bulbous bow.

Estimating uncertainty in limit state capacities for reinforced concrete frame structures through pushover analysis

  • In seismic fragility and risk analysis, the definition of structural limit state (LS) capacities is of crucial importance. Traditionally, LS capacities are defined according to design code provisions or using deterministic pushover analysis without considering the inherent randomness of structural parameters. To assess the effects of structural randomness on LS capacities, ten structural parameters that include material strengths and gravity loads are considered as random variables, and a probabilistic pushover method based on a correlation-controlled Latin hypercube sampling technique is used to estimate the uncertainties in LS capacities for four typical reinforced concrete frame buildings. A series of ten LSs are identified from the pushover curves based on the design-code-given thresholds and the available damage-controlled criteria. The obtained LS capacities are further represented by a lognormal model with the median $m_C$ and the dispersion ${\beta}_C$. The results show that structural uncertainties have limited influence on $m_C$ for the LSs other than that near collapse. The commonly used assumption of ${\beta}_C$ between 0.25 and 0.30 overestimates the uncertainties in LS capacities for each individual building, but they are suitable for a building group with moderate damages. A low uncertainty as ${\beta}_C=0.1{\sim}0.15$ is adequate for the LSs associated with slight damages of structures, while a large uncertainty as ${\beta}_C=0.40{\sim}0.45$ is suggested for the LSs near collapse.

건축물의 방화 및 피난계획에 관한 연구 (A study Fire Protection and Evacuation System for Buildings)

  • This study is intended to suggest some ideal measures available in the course of construction from the viewpoint of an architect to reduce damage of human lives and Properties caused by fire accidents in buildings. For this study, 7 buildings burnt by conflaguration in Seoul during the years of 1985 and 1987 are picked up, and 105 withnesses, who were present in one of them at them at fire, are traced for personal interview and respones to the written questionaire about 5 main issues; their perceptional behaviour, their emotional state at that time, their reactions to avoid danger, their escape routes, and their usual awareness to prevent fire. Some desirable measures suggested here are ;making Provisions to install fire centers in large buildings and underground structures in the fire fighting law, and requlating to compose fire units appropriate to the quantity of combustibles inside, limit the length of a blind corridor, furnish balustrade, and limit the width of the landing of the stairs in building code and regulations. Such measures should be considered from the time of planning to construct a building, and some drill and education in fire prevention is demanded for the occupants of the buildings too.

  • 노후선박의 구조적 안전성을 확보하기 위해서는 부식이나 피로균열 및 기계적인 손상에 의하여 선체 구조 강도가 어떠한 영향을 받는지 충분히 검토하여 적절한 수리 보수 등 이에 대한 대책을 강구할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 관점에서 부식, 피로균열, 기계적인 손상과 같은 노후 선박에 발생할 수 있는 여러 가지 손상이 선체강도에 미치는 영향을 이론적, 수치적, 실험적인 방법을 통하여 조사하고, 이를 통하여 선각거더의 소성붕괴강도 저하를 고려한 신뢰성 평가법 및 보수, 수리를 통한 인정수준 이상의 선각강도를 유지하게 하는 지침도 연구하였다.

  • In recent years, the prediction of the deterioration rate of concrete structures has become major research interest. However, there are still many uncertain factors in the deterioration process and the relation between deterioration and durability of structures. This is mainly due to various uncertainties involved in the construction process and the environmental conditions which affect the rate of deterioration of concrete structures. In this study a limit state model in terms of random crack width due to applied dead and live loads is proposed for the assessment of crack damage of reinforced concrete structures. The AFOSM reliability method is used for the reliability evaluation of the crack durability of concrete bridges. The proposed model for crack durability of concrete bridges is applied to the Seoul interior circuit elevated expressway. The sensitivity analyses are performed for the proposed model.

Vehicle-bridge coupling vibration analysis based fatigue reliability prediction of prestressed concrete highway bridges

  • The extensive use of prestressed reinforced concrete (PSC) highway bridges in marine environment drastically increases the sensitivity to both fatigue-and corrosion-induced damage of their critical structural components during their service lives. Within this scenario, an integrated method that is capable of evaluating the fatigue reliability, identifying a condition-based maintenance, and predicting the remaining service life of its critical components is therefore needed. To accomplish this goal, a procedure for fatigue reliability prediction of PSC highway bridges is proposed in the present study. Vehicle-bridge coupling vibration analysis is performed for obtaining the equivalent moment ranges of critical section of bridges under typical fatigue truck models. Three-dimensional nonlinear mathematical models of fatigue trucks are simplified as an eleven-degree-of-freedom system. Road surface roughness is simulated as zero-mean stationary Gaussian random processes using the trigonometric series method. The time-dependent stress-concentration factors of reinforcing bars and prestressing tendons are accounted for more accurate stress ranges determination. The limit state functions are constructed according to the Miner's linear damage rule, the time-dependent S-N curves of prestressing tendons and the site-specific stress cycle prediction. The effectiveness of the methodology framework is demonstrated to a T-type simple supported multi-girder bridge for fatigue reliability evaluation.

Stability condition for the evaluation of damage in three-point bending of a laminated composite

  • The study of the tensile strength of composite materials is far more complex than analysis of the properties of elasticity and plasticity. Indeed, during mechanical loading, micro-cracks in the matrix, the fibers break, debonding of the interfaces are created. The failure process of composites is of great diversity and cannot be described if even we know: the strength criterion of each individual component, the state of stress and strain in the material, the propagation phenomena cracks in the structure and nature of the interface between the matrix and the reinforcement. This information is only partially known and the obtained by the analysis of a stress limit beyond which there is destruction of the material is almost impossible. To partially process the issue, a solution lies in a mesoscopic approach of seeking a law to locate the ultimate strength of the material for a plane stress state. Tests on rectangular plates in bending PEEK/APC2 and T300/914 three were made and this in order to validate our approach, the calculation has been implemented in a nonlinear finite element code (Castem 2000), in order to make comparison with the numerical results. The results show good agreement between numerical simulation and the two materials; however, it would be interesting to consider other phenomena in the criterion.

경사제 피복재의 유지관리를 위한 추계학적 확률모형 (Stochastic Probability Model for Preventive Management of Armor Units of Rubble-Mound Breakwaters)

  • 하중 발생과정에 따른 누적피해의 선형뿐만 아니라 비선형 거동을 해석할 수 있는 추계학적 확률모형이 수립되었다. 여러 종류의 피해강도함수를 도입하여 내용년수의 파괴확률과 비선형 누적피해의 거동이 자세히 해석되었다. 특히 본 연구에서는 저항한계를 임의의 분포함수를 갖는 확률변수로 취급하여 한계상태의 불확실성을 고려하였다. 또한 피복재에 대한 피해수준을 이용하여 처음으로 추계학적 확률모형을 경사제에 적용하였다. 실험 자료와의 비교를 통해 추정된 경사제 피복재에 대해 피해강도함수를 이용하여 내용년수에 따른 파괴확률과 비선형 누적피해의 거동을 해석하였다. 마지막으로 해석 결과를 이용하여 경사제 피복재의 보수 보강 시점과 최소한의 보수 보강규모를 정량적으로 산정할 수 있는 예방적 유지관리 방법을 제시하였다.

  • 경사제에 불규칙하게 작용하는 임의 크기의 다중하중으로 인해 피복재의 안정성에 대한 성능이 시간에 따라 어떻게 달라지는지를 해석할 수 있는 추계학적 신뢰성 해석 모형이 개발되었다. Hudson의 공식과 Melby 공식을 이용하여 재현기간에 따른 파고의 함수로 경사제 피복재의 초기 저항력 크기와 피해율을 확률적으로 산정할 수 있는 새로운 방법이 제시되었다. 생애기간에 대한 신뢰성 분석을 실시하여 시간에 따른 다중하중의 작용과 사용한계나 극한한계 등 한계상태에 따른 구조물의 성능을 올바로 해석할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 보수보강 목표확률을 시간에 따른 누적파괴확률의 결과와 조합하여 구조물 유지관리에서 가장 중요한 변수인 보수보강 시점을 정량적으로 산정할 수 있는 방법이 제시되었다.
