  • Objectives : This article aims to describe the development of smartphone application for the case management of patients with schizophrenia. Methods : Gwangju Bukgu-Community Mental Health Center developed and launched a smartphone application (HYM) for cognitive-behavioral case management and symptom monitoring. The development of the application involved psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and software technicians from a software development company (Goosl Corp.). Results : The HYM application for clients includes six main modules including Thought record, Symptom record, Daily life record, Official notices, Communication, and Scales. The key module is the 'Thought Record' for self-directed cognitive-behavioral treatment (CBT). When the client writes and sends the self-CBT sheet to the case manager, the latter receives a notification and can provide feedback in real time. 'Communication' and 'Official notices' are useful for promoting communication between case managers and clients with schizophrenia. Ratings in 'Symptom record', 'Daily life record', and 'Scales' modules are stored in graphic or table form representing changes in them and shared with case managers. Conclusion : The interactive function of this application is the key characteristics that distinguishes it from other mobile self-treatment tools. This smartphone application may contribute to the development of a youth- and customer-friendly case management system for individuals with early psychosis.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to describe the process of utilizing a mobile application for ecological momentary assessment (EMA) to collect data on stress and mood in daily life setting. Methods: A mobile application for the Android operating system was developed and installed with a set of questions regarding momentary mood and stress into a smartphone of a participant. The application sets alarms at semi-random intervals in 60-minute blocks, four times a day for 7 days. After obtaining all momentary affect and stress, the questions to assess the usability of the mobile EMA application were also administered. Results: The data were collected from 97 police officers working in Gyeonggi Province of South Korea. The mean completion rate was 60.0% ranging from 3.5% to 100%. The means of positive and negative affect were 18.34 of 28 and 19.09 of 63. The mean stress was 17.92 of 40. Participants responded that the mobile application correctly measured their affect ($4.34{\pm}0.83$) and stress ($4.48{\pm}0.62$) of 5-point Likert scale. Conclusions: Our study investigated the process of utilizing a mobile application to assess momentary affect and stress at repeated times. We found challenges regarding adherence to the research protocol, such as completion and delay of answering after alarm notification. Despite this inherent issue of adherence to the research protocol, the EMA still has advantages of reducing recall bias and assessing the actual moment of interest at multiple time points that improves ecological validity.

  • The auditory information is used for urgent notification or warning in vehicle because it is not restricted by the direction compared to the visual. However, since the hearing impaired drivers cannot recognize sound signal, various methods of visualizing the auditory information have been attempted to replace it. When visualizing auditory information, only important information should be selected and provided to prevent cognitive overload concentrated on the vision. For this purpose, analysis of the type of auditory information in vehicle should be given in advance. In this study, the types of auditory information in vehicle were analyzed based on the user experience of hearing impaired drivers. Through the observation of the driving behavior of hearing impaired drivers, 33 auditory informations experienced in vehicle were collected. The collected auditory informations were classified into 12 groups through open card sorting by an expert group, and the types of auditory information in vehicle consisting of four levels were presented through a relative comparison of importance between groups. The presented type of auditory information in vehicle can be used as a guideline for selecting important information when the auditory information is converted into visual or tactile. This study is meaningful in that the user experience analysis was conducted by observing actual driving in daily life of hearing impaired drivers.

  • Companies' interest in developing AI-based intelligent new products is increasing. Recently, the main concern of companies is to innovate customer experience and create new values by developing new products through the effective use of Artificial intelligence technology. However, due to the nature of products based on radical technologies such as artificial intelligence, intelligent products differ from existing products and development methods, so it is clear that there is a limitation to applying the existing development methodology as it is. This study proposes a new research method based on KANO-TOPSIS for the successful development of AI-based intelligent new products by using car voice assistants as an example. Using the KANO model, select and evaluate functions that customers think are necessary for new products, and use the TOPSIS method to derives priorities by finding the importance of functions that customers need. For the analysis, major categories such as vehicle condition check and function control elements, driving-related elements, characteristics of voice assistant itself, infotainment elements, and daily life support elements were selected and customer demand attributes were subdivided. As a result of the analysis, high recognition accuracy should be considered as a top priority in the development of car voice assistants. Infotainment elements that provide customized content based on driver's biometric information and usage habits showed lower priorities than expected, while functions related to driver safety such as vehicle condition notification, driving assistance, and security, also showed as the functions that should be developed preferentially. This study is meaningful in that it presented a new product development methodology suitable for the characteristics of AI-based intelligent new products with innovative characteristics through an excellent model combining KANO and TOPSIS.
