첨가제로서 낙엽송의 수피 및 건조폐액이 리기다소나무 및 신갈나무 펠릿의 연료적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Bark and Drying Waste Liquor of Larix kaempferi Used as An Additive on The Fuel Characteristics of Wood Pellet Fabricated with Rigida Pine and Quercus mongolica Sawdust)

  • 리기다소나무와 신갈나무 목분에 낙엽송 수피 또는/그리고 인공건조시 발생하는 폐액을 첨가제로 사용하여 펠릿을 제조하고, 이에 대한 연료적 특성의 분석을 통하여 고등급 목재펠릿 제조를 위한 원료 및 제조조건을 제공하고자 본 연구를 수행하였다. 첨가제에 대한 화학적 조성을 조사한 결과, 수피는 90% 이상의 전섬유소와 리그닌으로 구성되어 있었으며, 건조폐액은 대부분 당 성분이라 추정되는 0.1%의 고형분을 가지고 있었다. 신갈나무 목분은 수피의 포함으로 회분 함량(2.2%)이 높았으며, 수피와 건조폐액도 4% 이상의 회분을 가진 것으로 조사되었다. 목분 및 첨가제의 발열량은 모두 국립산림과학원(NIFOS)에서 고시한 "목재제품의 규격과 품질기준"의 목재펠릿 1급 기준(18.0 MJ/kg) 보다 높았다. 피스톤형 펠릿성형기로 제조한 펠릿은 첨가제의 양이 2 wt%인 관계로 회분함량과 발열량에 영향을 미치지 않았다. 내구성의 경우, 대부분의 제조 조건에서 첨가제의 사용에 의하여 증가하였다. 한편 첨가제로 수피 그리고 목분의 함수율 조절을 위하여 건조폐액을 함께 첨가하여 제조한 펠릿의 내구성은 첨가제없이 제조한 펠릿과 차이가 없었으며, 수피 또는 건조폐액을 각각 첨가제로 사용하여 제조한 펠릿보다 낮았다. 그러나 펠릿 제조비용 측면에서 건조폐액은 폐수처리에 따른 수익이 가능한 관계로 수피와 건조폐액을 공동으로 펠릿 제조에 사용하는 것이 유리할 것으로 생각한다. 피스톤형 펠릿성형기로 제조한 펠릿의 연료적 특성 측정 결과를 토대로 파일럿 규모의 평다이펠릿성형기로 리기다소나무 및 신갈나무 펠릿을 제조하였다. 제조된 펠릿의 함수율은 목분 및 첨가제의 사용과 상관없이 NIFOS 1급 기준($${\leq_-}$$10%)을 모두 만족하였다. 이에 대한 겉보기밀도와 내구성 측정결과를 종합하면, 첨가제의 사용은 리기다소나무의 경우 목분 함수율을 10%로 조절하고 수피나 건조폐액을 사용하는 것이 그리고 신갈나무의 경우 12%의 목분 함수율에 수피를 사용하는 것이 각각의 최적 목재펠릿 제조 조건이라 생각한다. 신갈나무 펠릿의 회분 함량을 제외하고 이 조건에서 제조한 목재펠릿의 품질은 NIFOS 목재펠릿 1급 기준을 크게 상회하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • New inchworm type piezoelectric actuator design, which can reduce the number of the piezoelectric body for manufacturing inchworm type actuator, is suggested in this work. Inchworm type actuator consists of three or more piezoelectric bodies, on the other hand the new-designed inchworm type actuator has only one piezoelectric body. The one piezoelectric body that size is $2\;{\times}\;2\;{\times}\;4\;[mm^2]$ (DWL) has 2 clamping part and 1 extending part. The size of the new-designed actuator with one piezoelectric body is $5\;{\times}\;6\;{\times}\;9\;[mm^2]$ (DWL). The new-designed inchworm type actuator performed the operation at a cycle (6 steps) of $0.3{\mu}m$ per $33.3{\mu}s$ and a generated force of 0.6N.

Legal Direction of Defect Warranty Liability in the Korean Construction Industry

  • The defects that are bound to arise in most construction projects cause disputes among the contracting parties regarding the defect warranty liability (DWL)guaranteed by the retention of the contractor's performance security at the end of the performance period of the contract. Most current projects involve a multiple-tier contractual relationship, causing the liability for some defects to overlap. In addition, many construction projects are made up of multiple detailed work types which an expert hired by the owner inspects the part completed by the contractor and pays an interim payment. However, after the completion of work, the contractor will still hold the defect warranty liability. In a scenario in which the work is delayed due to reasons for which the owner is responsible, the defect warranty liability period is also increased, imposing an additional burden on the contractor. In this study, basic research was carried out with the goal of reducing problems related to defect warranty liability Problems related to defect warranty liability cases and the nature of the defect warranty liability period were investigated. Possible solutions to the problems caused by the DWL that were suggested include the separation of the negligence liability period and the strict liability period, as well as the introduction of a retention money system.

  • The new design of inchworm-type piezoelectric actuator is presented in this paper, Compared to conventional inchworm-type actuators, which are composed of more than three piezoelectric bodies, we can reduce the number of piezoelectric bodies by employing the proposed design, resulting in only one piezoelectric body. The overall size of the proposed actuator which consists of one piezoelectric body, two clamping parts and one extending part, is only $5{\times}6{\times}9 [mm^3]$ (DWL). The actuating characteristics of fabricated Monolithic Inchworm Type Actuator(MITA), were found to be a displacement of $0.3{\mu}m$, a generating force of 0.6N and an electric power of 0.5W.

간척지 토양의 제염과정 중 전기전도도 분석 (Analysis of Electrical Conductivity during Desalinization of Reclaimed Tidal Lands)

  • This study was performed in order to produce the basic data for developing prediction techniques of desalinization to be applicable to reclaimed tidal lands at the beginning stage. the desalinization experiments were carried out by two water management practices, namely, the leaching method by subsurface drainage and the rinsing method by surface drainage. The 5 soil samples used in this study were collected in 4 tidal land reclamation projects. Regression equations were obtained in order to investigate the changes of electrical conductivity during the desalinization of reclaimed tidal lands and to estimate water requirements for desalinization. The results obtained from this study were summarized as follows: 1. According to USDA Salinity Laboratory classification system of salt affected soils the reclaimed tidal land soils used in this study were saline-sodic soils with the high electrical conductivity and the high exchangeable sodium percentage. 2. With the increase of the water requirements for desalinization the electrical conductivity was decreased with high degree of correlationships and the desalinization effects were remakable in both the leaching method and the rinsing method. 3. In case of the leaching method the electrical conductivity had been reduced below the classification value of salt affected soils when the depth o water leached per unit depth of soil (Dwl/Ds) was 0.3 and the desalinization effects showed a tendency to be much the same in each treatment.

Doppler LIDAR Measurement of Wind in the Stratosphere

  • A mobile direct detection Doppler LIDAR based on molecular backscattering for measurement of wind in the stratosphere has been developed in Hefei, China. First, the principle of wind measurement with direct detection Doppler LIDAR is presented. Then the configuration of the LIDAR system is described. Finally, the primary experimental results are provided and analyzed. The results indicate that the detection range of the designed Doppler LIDAR reached 50 km altitude, and there is good consistency between the molecular Doppler wind LIDAR(DWL) and the wind profile radar(WPR) in the low troposphere.

  • The bandwidth of wireless communication is expected to grow exponentially due to the expansion of mobile devices and the increase of real-time and realistic multimedia services. Recently, the studies on terahertz band wireless communication have been actively conducted for the next generation communication after 5G wireless communication. The terahertz band, which is the unallocated frequency band, has been applied to the non-contact, non-destructive quality inspection industry such as the terahertz imaging and spectral systems through the development of terahertz generating and detecting components. This article briefly describes recent research trends on terahertz wireless communication technologies and introduces the details of photonics-based terahertz devices and systems that have been focused on the Terahertz Basic Research Section of Electronics and Telecommunication Research Institute.

Micro-patterning for Biomimetic Functionalization of Surface

  • Some living thingsuse micro- or nano- structures for living in nature. Scientists and engineers made efforts to mimic them, and they succeeded in making new types of applications. They used 'Namib desert beetle' to self-filling device by moisture harvesting and 'lotus leaf' to self-cleaning device by water repelling. 'Namib desert beetle' and lotus leaf have micro-patterns on their surface, which consists of hydrophobic or hydrophilic materials [1]. Moreover, micro-patterns on the surface make self-filling or self-cleaning property enhanced because of the surface roughness. Surface roughness enhances wettability [2]. Micro-pattern is a significant factor to make the surface be functional, so we want to make new types of functional surface by micro-patterning. In this work,we make several functional micro-patterns (radial, line, and dot arrays) using maskless lithography and analyze the characteristics of each micro-pattern. In order to analyze and understand surface characteristics, micro-patterns with varying sizes are investigated. All experiments are proceeded on mr-DWL5 photo resists coated on silicon wafers in same condition. All the experiments have demonstrated good performances about hydrophobic or hydrophilic property corresponding to their material and structural combinations. In radial micro-pattern, although the surface is flat, water drops on hydrophilic radial pattern can be convergent to a middle point and water drops on hydrophobic radial pattern can be divergent from the middle point. In line array micro-pattern, water drops can roll off along only one direction in parallel with the line arrays. Such phenomena might be mainly caused by the local change of surface roughness. From these results, controlling the movement and direction of water drops is made feasible without introducing a slope, which can potentially be used for new types of applications.

백회혈 자침이 뇌혈류에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Paekoe(GV20) Acupuncture on Cerebral Blood Flow)

  • Objective : This study was performed to evaluate the effect of acupuncture on cerebral blood flow by Transcranial Doppler Ultrasonography(TCD) Method : Monitoring of TCD was examined in 11 healthy women volunteer(mean $age:\;24.5{\pm}2.9\;\;years$) before, during and after acupuncture on Paekoe(GV20). Mean velocity, pulsatility index, systolic velocity and diastolic velocity values are analyzed from DWL. MDX4 at different depths of both middle cerebral artery. Results : The results showed a significant(p<0.05; Friedman test & Wilcoxon signed ranks test) increase in mean velocity, systolic velocity and diastolic velocity decrease in pulsatility index, which was measured at different depths of both middle cerebral artery. Conclusion : These results suggest that acupuncture could have a specific effect on cerebral blood flow.

축사가 밀집된 농촌지역 천부지하수의 질산염 오염특성 (Nitrate Contamination of Shallow Groundwater in an Agricultural area having Intensive Livestock Facilities)

  • 지하수 의존도가 큰 농촌지역에서 주로 사용하는 천부지하수는 오염에 민감하므로, 인간활동에 의한 질산성 질소 오염이 생활용수 공급에 큰 문제가 되고 있다. 농경활동과 함께 다양한 규모의 축사가 운영되고 있는 경기도 일죽지역 천부지하수에 대한 질산염 연구결과, 인위적 오염물질 유입이 예상되는 지점이 77%, 먹는물 수질기준을 초과하는 지점이 32~42%로 나타났다. 질소동위원소 분석 결과, 인위적 오염물질 유입이 예상되는 지점은 모두 $\delta^{15}$N-$NO_3$가 5$\textperthousand$ 이상으로 나타났으며, 59%지점이 동물분뇨에서 유래된 질소의 영향을 강하게 받고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 연구지역 천부지하수의 질산성 질소 주 오염 원인은 밀집된 축사로 밝혀졌으며, 운영이 종료된 축사라도 오랫동안 지하수질에 영향을 미치는 것으로 보인다. 축종에 따라 오염원의 화학적 특성이 다른데, 지표수게는 그 영향이 나타나지만, 지하로 유입되는 동안 반응에 의하여 일부 용질이 제거되므로 지하수에서는 오염원 차이에 의한 영향이 나타나지 않았다.
