A real-time Dolby AC-3 decoder has been implemented using a 20-bit fixed point general purpose DSP chip. It is shown that AC-3 decoder of this paper has same performance as decoder of C-simulator on PC. And also, it is applied to DVD player. Especially, in this paper, we proved that it has shorter latency time than that of previous AC-3 decoder.

The popularization of IEEE1394(firewire) configuration in Desktop PC have done much to popularize Non-Linear video editing. DVD has been taking the lead in an age as the movie storage medium which represents a recent decade the place because of decreasing in cost of DVD-RW. But, it is the actual condition which has been had any research data about the process which produces the high quality movie of DVD to most ordinary people. Taking into account to capture the image with Avid Xpress DV and Adobe Premiere Pro which are representative video editing softwares in Desktop PC in general, we would like to close by proposing that DVD Authoring Process is available to keep high quality image in Desktop PC by the using of comparison and analysis of the image quality and export data which are able to be happened to the procedure of digitalization of video Authoring using of Adobe Encore.

Recently, an optical disc system has been proposed using blue laser diode, high NA objective lens and groove only disc structure. A new method is needed to readout CD and DVD in the blue system. In order to readout CD and DVD in HD-DVD system, we adopted dual-lenses actuator in consideration of optical utilization efficiency, optical performance and insurance of sufficient W.D (working distance). Recently, DVD/CD compatible driver is needed for DVD and CD is widely used as a new optical data restoring device. The optical systems of DVD and CD driver are different because they have different optical feature. If only one objective lens is used, the change of an aperture or a dual focal length of the lens is required. This method, however, increases the number of parts and results in loss of the power of laser light. Hence, we propose a dual lens actuator design that can read DVD and CD respectively. Albeit magnetic spring is important mechanism in the dual lens actuator design, there has not been the systematic approach to design the mechanism in the preceding researches. In this article. the guideway to design magnetic spring is presented by using the qualitative theoretical approach and the finite element analysis.

DVD무인대여기도 이러한 특성을 반영하는 품목이다. 아직은 본격화하지 않은 DVD시대에 있어 오늘 보다는 내일을 보는 아이템인 것이다. DVD타이틀을 무인 대여 반납할 수 있는 이 제품이 과연 시장에서 어떤 반응을 얻을지 현재로서는 그 가능성이 극히 조심스럽다. DVD무인대여기 시장의 새로운 개척자로 등장한 에스더블유피 신우전자를 통해 그 시장 가능성을 진단해 봤다.

21세기 첨단영상매체인 디지털 비디오 디스크(DVD)가 지난 1996년 11월 처음 등장한 이래, 올해로 만 8년째를 맞이한 DVD산업은 본격적인 성장기에 접어들고 있다. 하지만 현재 국내 DVD유통업체는 비효율적인 푸시(Push)유통체제로서 유통물류시스템을 가동하고 있다. 따라서 국내 DVD유통관련 업계의 물류비용 절감과 DVD유통(제조업 포함)업계의 사업 참여를 적극 유도하여 선진 유통정보시스템 구현을 통한 산업 경쟁력 확대차원의 사업추진방안이 필요한 실정이다.

Recently. the efforts for the development of DVD concentrate on the high storage and multi-media. DVD has been manufactured by assembling many parts and it causes the vibration and noise. In this paper, one body rotor is proposed, which can make the nose and vibration be decreased. The injection mould for DVD rotor is designed by finite element analysis and the rotor is manufactured in the mould. The magnetic flux density is measured on the surface and it is compared with the design criteria.

In order to realize a practical VOD system, it is necessary for a high-capacity and cost-effective hierarchical VOD server based on tertiary storages such as DVD jukebox. In such a system, it is possible to transfer multiple streams to users by alternatively swapping DVDs using the fixed number of drives. But it takes a long time for loading DVD to a drive. In this paper, we propose a primitive pipelined loading mechanism for hiding the loading time to swap DVDs in a hierarchical VOD server based on DVD jukebox. We also propose a enhanced pipelined loading mechanism for increasing the maximum admittable streams with the fixed number of drives. The enhanced mechanism caches the initial segment of each stream on a disk storage allowing faster data transfer. The performance analysis shows that the proposed mechanisms can admit the maximum allowed stream capacity under the fixed number of disk drives.
