Architecture of an LDPC Decoder for DVB-S2 using reuse Technique of processing units and Memory Relocation (연산기와 메모리 재사용을 이용한 효율적인 DVB-S2 규격의 LDPC 복호기 구조)

  • Low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes are recently emerged due to its excellent performance. The standard for European high definition satellite digital video broadcast, DVB-S2 has adopted LDPC codes as a channel coding scheme. This paper proposes a DVB-S2 LDPC decoder architecture using a hybrid parity check matrix which is efficient in hardware implementation for both decoders and encoders. The hybrid H-matrices are constructed so that both the semi-random technique and the partly parallel structure can be applied to design encoders and decoders. Using the hybrid H-matrix scheme, the architecture of LDPC decoder for DVB-S2 can be very practical and efficient. In addition, we show a new Variable Node processor Unit (VNU) architecture to reuse the VNU for various code rates and optimized block memory placement to reuse. We design a DVB-S2 LDPC decoder of code rate 1/2 usng the proposed architecture. We estimate the performance of the DVB-S2 LDPC decoder and compare it with other decoders.

  • The core/shell type structure of the highly crosslinked poly(glycidylmetharylate-co-divinylbenzene) microspheres prepared in the precipitation polymerization in acetonitrile was thoroughly verified by means of swelling, $^1H$ NMR, XPS, TEM and TGA measurements. In the XPS measurement, the higher the GMA content, the higher the oxygen content was observed, implying that the higher content of GMA is observed in the particle surface. The further verification of the core/shell structure of the poly(GMA-co-DVB) particles was carried out using $^1H$ NMR and TEM techniques, resulting in the poly(GMA-co-DVB) particles with the GMA rich-phase and DVB rich-phase. In overall, the poly(GMA-co-DVB) microspheres consist of a highly crosslinked DVB rich-phase in the core and slightly or non-crosslinked GMA rich-phase in the shell part due to the different reaction ratios between two monomers and self-crosslinking density of DVB.

  • 본 논문에서는 2009년 5월부터 유럽 DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting)를 중심으로 본격적으로 진행되고 있는 차세대 VSAT(Very Small Aperture Terminal) 시스템 표준기술인 DVB-RCS (Return Channel via Satellite) NG(Next Generation) 표준의 시스템 및 서비스 개요와 표준화 ad-hoc 기술 그룹회의에서 제안된 기술들에 대해서 소개하고자 한다. DVB-RCS NG 표준은 2008년 5월부터 DVB-RCS CM (Commercial Module)과 시스템 interoperability 테스트 관할 협의체인 유럽의 Satlabs를 중심으로 새로운 규격 작업을 위한 상업적 요구사항 선정 및 구체적인 서비스/시스템 모델을 수립하였다. DVB-TM (Technical Module)과 CM을 거쳐 최종적으로 SB(Steering Board)에서 2008년 10월에 승인을 받고 RCS ad-hoc 그룹은 study mission을 수행하게 되었다. 2008년 11월부터 DVB-RCS NG 규격을 위한 call for technology 작업, 제안된 기술에 대한 평가 방법, 이를 평가하기 위한 system그룹 및 study 그룹이 결성되어 2009년 1월에 call for technology가 공지되고 2009년 5월 4일까지 20개 기관으로부터 19개의 기고서가 제출되었다. 본 고에서는2009년 7월 회의까지 검토된 후보기술에 대한 소개와 향후, RCS NG 표준에서 유망한 기술에 대하여 다루고자한다.

  • 현재 여러 나라에서 유럽의 위성 전송 시스템인 DVB-S 표준을 적용한 위성방송이 실시되고 있다. 또한 HDTV와 같은 광대역 방송 서비스, 인터넷 서비스 제공을 위한 효율적인 위성링크 등의 필요성으로 인해 2세대 위성방송 표준인 DVB-S2 (Digital Video Broadcasting via stellite) 표준이 제정되었다. DVB-S2 수신기의 반송파 동기부는 대부분의 상용 DVB-S2 수신기에 사용되는 상용 부품으로 인한 상당히 큰 초기 반송파 주파수 오차(심볼속도 대비 20%)를 정확하게 추정하고 복구해야만 한다. 이런 이유로, 기존의 DVB-S2 수신기의 반송파 주파수 복구부는 많은 연산량을 필요로 하고 복잡한 하드웨어 구조를 가진다. 이에 본 논문에서는 기존의 반송파 주파수 복구부에 비해 성능의 열화가 없고, 간단한 구조를 가지는 견고한 반송파 주파수 복구부 방식을 제안하였다.

  • DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting for Handhold) is a new standard, currently being developed, which defines mobile enhancements for the DVB-T (DVB-Terrestrial) standard. For the reception of service via mobile handhold devices, seamless mobility and power saving are essential requirements of DVB-H. For seamless handover, the receiver should monitor neighboring cells and it increases the power consumption. And so, power efficient handover scheme to support both mobility and power saving is required. In this paper, we propose cell searching scheme to reduce power consumption by reducing the number of frequency scanning during the handover. Through the numerical evaluation, we analyzethe performance of handover schemes.

  • In this paper, wd design the Program Specific Information (PSI) parser and its On-Screen Display (OSD) on the middleware of ALi M3330 MPEG-2 decoder processor to analyze DVB-T Transport Stream(TS) information. To test the functional operation of the designed parser, we implement the DVB-T test board including the RF-tuner using ALi M3330 MPEP-2 decoder processor and confirm the correct operation using the input TS stream generated by DVB-T stream generator. The developed PSI parser could be used for the test environment, various channel extension, and the development of DVB-T reception module.

  • 본고에서는 차세대 디지털 지상파 TV표준으로 알려진 DVB-T2(Digital Video Broadcasting-the 2nd Generation Terrestrial)에 대해 소개한다. DVB-T2 기술은 ASO(Analogue Switch Off) 이후의 환경을 위해 DVB프로젝트에 의해 개발되었으며 최신의 변조 및 코딩 기술을 채택하고 있다. 기존 DVB-T에 비해 전송효율을 30% 이상 증가시킬 수 있으며 2010년경에 상용화 될 것으로 예상된다.

Synthesis of Aminated GMA-DVB Copolymer and Their Adsorption Properties for Nitrate (아민화 GMA-DVB 공중합체의 합성과 질소 성분에 대한 흡착 특성)

  • In this study, we synthesized bead-type GMA-DVB copolymer using glycidylmethacrylate (GMA) with high reactivity and hydrophilicity. Macrorecticular anion exchanger containing the trimethylammonium group were then prepared by amination with trimethylammonium chloride. We observed that the size of $NO_3^-$ is smaller than that of $SO_4^{2-}$ which disturb $NO_3^-$ removal in most of coexistent anions in ground water. Thus we investigated selective affinity for $NO_3^-$ and properties of individual ion exchangers with various DVB content. For each resins, we confirmed formation of copolymer by FT-IR spectrometer and investigated ion exchange capacity, swelling ratio, the amination yield and the effect with degree of crosslinking on adsorbability for nitrate. When amount of DVB is 4 wt%, amination yield, ion exchange capacity and swelling ratio was 384.3%, 3.25 meq/g and 77.1%, respectively. In these result, it can found that synthetic optimal condition is 4 wt% DVB content for monomer.

Efficient Partial Parallel Encoders for IRA Codes in DVB-S2 (DVB-S2 IRA Code를 위한 최적 부호화 방법)

  • Low density parity check (LDPC) code, first introduced by Gallager and re-discovered by MacKay et al, has attracted researcher's interest mainly due to their performance and low decoding complexity. It was remarkable that the performance is very close to Shannon capacity limit under the assumption of having long codeword length and iterative decoder. However, comparing to turbo codes widely used in the current mobile communication, the encoding complexity of LDPC codes has been regarded as the drawback. This paper proposes a solution for DVB-S2 LDPC encoder to reduce the encoder latency. We use the fast IRA encoder that use the transformation of the parity check matrix into block-wise form and the partial parallel process to reduce the number of system clocks for the IRA code encoding. We compare the proposed encoder with the current DVB-S2 encoder to show that the performance of proposal is better than that of the current DVB-S2 encoder.

  • In mobile broadcasting networks, handover is an important issue to support seamless mobility. DVB-H(Digital Video Broadcasting for Handheld) standard was developed to enhance mobile features for DVB-T(Digital Video Broadcasting -Terrestrial) standard. This paper proposes new approaches for improving handover performance in the DVB-H networks. The proposed handover schemes are targeted to two different DVB-H receivers: One is for the receivers equipped with GPS devices. The other is for ones without GPS support. The first handover approach modifies the cell description table (CDT) proposed in the literature [1]. The second proposes a novel estimation technique of predefined handover region based on a new handover map table (HMT). This new handover approach estimates a predefined handover region with the measured RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indication) signal patterns. Using proposed handover algorithm, we can reduce time and power consumption. Through the computer simulations, we evaluate the performance of handover algorithm.
