  • AC servo system has been implemented to FA system and also depends on its quality. Recently with the development of power switching device and DSP which has peripheral devices to control AC servo system, the servo technology has met a new development opportunity. A DSP based AC servo system with a 3-phase PMSM is proposed. The newly produced DSP TMX320F2812-version C which has the performance of fast speed, 150MIPS, and rich peripheral interface is used. Also space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) and the digital PI control are implemented to the servo system

  • While H.264/AVC is in wide use for multimedia applications such as DMB and IPTV service, we have limited usage cases for embedded real-time applications due to its high computational demand. The paper provides judicious guide line for optimization method selection, by presenting the detailed experiments data through the development process of a real time H.264 software encoder on embedded DSP. The experimental analysis includes an intensive profiling analysis, fast algorithm application, optimal memory assignment, and intrinsic-based instruction selection. We have realized a real-time software that encodes CIF resolution videos 15 fps on TMS320DM64x processors.

AC Servo Motor Control Using Low Voltage High Performance DSP (저전압 고성능 DSP를 이용한 AC 서보모터 제어)

  • Recently with the development of power switching device and DSP which has peripheral devices to control AC servo system, the servo technology has met a new development opportunity. Those things make it possible to reduce the time of developing a AC servo system. Fixed point DSP such as TMS320F240x, and TMS320F28x series have a disadvantage in calculating floating number where TMS320C32 or TMS320C31 are floating point DSP. However they usually become a complex hardware system to implement the AC servo system and it increases the cost. In this study, a DSP based AC servo system with a 3-phase PMSM is proposed. The newly produced DSP TMX320F28l2-version C which has the performance of fast speed, 150MIPS, and a rich peripheral interface such as a 12bit high speed AD converter, QEP(Quadrature Encoder Pulse) circuit, PDPINT(Power Drive Protect Interrupt), SVPWM module and dead time module are used. This paper presents a method to overcome fixed point calculating using scaling all parameters. Also space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) using off-set voltage and a digital PI control are implemented to the servo system.

  • This paper presents a real-time implementation of a speaker independent speech recognition system based on a discrete hidden markov model(DHMM). This system is developed for a car navigation system to design on-chip VLSI system of speech recognition which is used by fixed point Oak DSP core of DSP GROUP LTD. We analyze recognition procedure with C language to implement fixed point real-time algorithms. Based on the analyses, we improve the algorithms which are possible to operate in real-time, and can verify the recognition result at the same time as speech ends, by processing all recognition routines within a frame. A car noise is the colored noise concentrated heavily on the low frequency segment under 400 Hz. For the noise robust processing, the high pass filtering and the liftering on the distance measure of feature vectors are applied to the recognition system. Recognition experiments on the twelve isolated command words were performed. The recognition rates of the baseline recognizer were 98.68% in a stopping situation and 80.7% in a running situation. Using the noise processing methods, the recognition rates were enhanced to 89.04% in a running situation.

  • In this paper, we designed an embedded processor with 128Kbytes EPROM and 4Kbytes SRAM based on GMS30C2132 which RISC processor with DSP functions. And a new architecture of bus sharing to control the embedded memory and external memory unit i proposed aiming at one-cycle access between memories and CPU. For embedded 128Kbytes EPROM, we designed the new expansion interface for data size at data ordering with memory organization and the efficient interface for test. The embedded SRAM supports an extended stack area high speed DSP operation, instruction cache and variable data-length control which is accessed with 4K modulo addressing schemes. The proposed new architecture and circuits reduced the memory access cycle time from 40ns and improved operation speed 2-times for program benchmark test. The chip is occupied $108.68mm^2$ using $0.6{\mu}m$ CMOS technology.

  • 본 논문에서는 MPEG-2 AAC 디코더의 DSP구현에 관한 연구결과로서 IS0/1EC 13818-7 표준에 의거 구현된 MPEC-2 AAC 디코더의 각 세부 기능블럭들의 구성 및 동작원리에 대하여 요약 기술하고. DSP연산에 최적화된 연산구조의 연구를 바탕으로 16bit 고정소수점 연산구조를 가지는 DSP상에서 구현된 MPEG-2 AAC 디로더의 시스템의 하드웨어 및 소프트웨어 구성에 관하여 간략한 기술하였다. 구성된 디코더의 성능평가를 통하여 MPEC-2 AAC 비트스트림을 디코딩하기 위하여 필요로 하는 연산량 및 소요 메모리의 양을 측정하고, 디코더 성능의 중요 척도인 음질평가를 수행하였다. 수행방법으로서 conformance test에 의거하여 PSNR을 측정함으로써 객관적인 성능 지표의 제시와 함께, 주관적인 음질 평가도 병행하여 수행하였다.

  • In this paper, we implemented a vocabulary-independent speech recognizer using the TMS320VC33 DSP. For this implementation, we had developed very small-sized recognition engine based on diphone sub-word unit, which is especially suited for embedded applications where the system resources are severely limited. The recognition accuracy of the developed recognizer with 1 mixture per state and 4 states per diphone is 94.5% when tested on frequently-used 2000 words set. The design of the hardware was focused on minimal use of parts, which results in reduced material cost. The finally developed hardware only includes a DSP, 512 Kword flash ROM and a voice codec. In porting the recognition engine to the DSP, we introduced several methods of using data and program memory efficiently and developed the versatile software protocol for host interface. Finally, we also made an evaluation board for testing the developed hardware recognition module.

  • This paper introduces a method for design and implementation of a current controller for boost converter operating in continuous conduction mode (CCM) using a digital signal processor (DSP). A Proportional-Integral (PI) type current controller outputs an average voltage command for inductor, used in the input side of the boost converter, and the duty-ratio of PWM (pulse width modulation) signal for switching device is directly calculated from the average voltage command. The gains of the PI current controller are selected such that the current response characteristics are the same as those of a first-order low-pass filter. The proposed current control scheme is implemented using a DSP based on fixed-point math operations and an experimental study has been performed to validate the proposed method.

  • This paper describes an implementation of a DSP (Digital Signal Processor) controlled random carrier frequency modulation for the PWM inverter for acoustic noise reduction of induction motors. Real-time generation of the random variable and RPWM(Random PWM) along with the speed control was achieved by DSP TMS320C31. The experimental results show that the voltage and current harmonics are spread to a wide band area and the power spectrum of the acoustic switching noise was spread to create a more appealing, less annoying sound. Also, the speed response of the implemented method and the conventional method is nearly similar to each other from the viewpoint of the v/f constant control.

  • In this study, the controller using TMS320LF2407 low voltage DSP for motor control is designed and realized. It has 40 MIPS calculating ability and its driving voltage is 3.3 V for low power. The peripheral elements, however usually use 5 V and they need voltage transfer interface. In this study, voltage transformation and reducing noise are studied and space vector PWM is adopted as a motor control scheme. According to these methods, the efforts for software programming and calculation processes are reduced. In addition, the hardware is also simplified by substituting the current control part with software programming. Through this study, the DSP based servo controller increases its ability for high performance multi-function on semiconductor transportation equipments..
