Park Myoung Jin (1903-1957) was a respectable leader who disseminated dental medical education to make our path as the leading dental medical education developing a new global history of dental medicine. Dr. Park was born in Seoul on 3 July 1903. He graduated Kyongseong dental medical school and studied at the pharmacology department achieving his M.D. In 1938, as the president representing the Hanseong dentists association equivalent to the Japanese dentists association, Dr. Park participated in various events. After liberation, Dr. Park tried his best to achieve Korean dental medical education as the pursuit of ideal ego with self-centered ego. He reorganized the Kyongseong dental medical school and incorporated it to the Seoul National University dental college. Even during the Korea war, Dr. Park still sincerely carried out his duties as the director of the Seoul National University dental medical college by recruiting university entrants and turned out graduates. In 1954, Dr. Park as the director of the Seoul National University dental medical college, he frontiered an opportunity to adapt the American dental medicine by sending school staffs to study overseas. On 25 June 1954, Dr. Park received 25 years of meritorius service award presented by Seoul National University Dental Medical College. Further, on 6 Aril 1954, Dr. Park became a member of an academic research committee. In April 1946, Dr. Park was elected as the president of the Chosun Dentists Association(Korean Dental Association). On 19 May 1947, Dr. Park was also appointed as the director of the Korea dental medicine association leading the general meetings and academic conferences from 2nd through the 8th sessions. On 30 November 1954, as the president of the Korea dental medicine association, Dr. Park also published the Korea dental association publications. In 1957, Dr. Park donated the school housing for the principle of the Kyongseong dental medical school establishing the basis for the Korea dentists association center. Dr. Park also participated in establishment of the oral hygiene campaigne, dental administration policy, organization of the specialized subject delegation board members and the dental materials association. On 10 December 1955, we can recognize Dr. Park's respective historical consciousness through his declaration 'history is a true record of historical traces of a national'. Dr. Park was a living witness of the Korean dental industry. Especially, he stated that the origin of the Korean dentists association was in the Hanseong dentists association. Dr. Park overcame the pressure and indignity during the Japanese colonization. The joy of liberation did not last long since he also had to experience the fraticidal tragedy of the Korea war. Dr. Park was a professional dental specialist and a leader researching dental medicine. He was a great leader who understood the dental medicine and dedicated for the dentist association and dental medicine association with compassion for the nation and national as a Korean.

A convenient synthesis of substituted [1,2,4]-triazolo [1',2':1,2]pyrimido[6,5-b]-quinoline 4(a-i) from substituted 2-chloroquinoline-3-carbaldehyde 1(a-i) and 4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-amine 2 by using $SiO_2/K_2CO_3$ under microwave irradiation. This method affords the [1,2,4]-Triazolo [1',2':1,2]pyrimido[6,5-b]-quinoline 4(a-i) under the influence of microwave irradiation in solvent-free conditions within short span (12 - 20 min), & gaves excellent yields (89 - 95%). All the synthesized compounds were further screened for their antibacterial activities. Some of our compounds showed excellent antibacterial activities against control drugs.
Dentists have been striving to find ways to relieve patients' pain and discomfort. The prestige of dentists is made up of dentists' self-sacrifice, academic research and pursuit of patients' well being. However, nowadays the dentists' prestige has been lost and practice on humanity has merely existed. At this time, it is meaningful to shed new light on life of a pioneer in Korean dentistry and take some time for self-examination. Today, we are going to look into life of Dr. Jong-Suh Ahn and his achievements in Korean dentistry. In 1925, Dr. Ahn Jong Suh graduated from KyungSung Dental school as a first graduating class. Then, he learned advanced dentistry at Severance Hospital and in April of 1932 as a young dentist with full of potentials, he opened his dental clinic in Tianjin, China. As an awakening Korean, in 1925 he organized an association of Korean dentists, called HanSung Dental Association and worked as a secretary to manage general affairs. Han Sung Dental Association later became today's Korean Dental Association. On December 9th, 1945, he founded ChoSun Dental Association. He accomplished great deals during his five consecutive terms as a chairman and held other important positions with prestige to lead and expand the scope Korean dental association. There were three other successors to Dr. Ahn as the presidents of Dental Association. Dr. Yong-Jin Kim had a great interest in internal affairs and dental materials. Dr. Myung-Jin Park was active in scientific affairs and Dr. Dong-Chan Han focused on smooth operation of the association. From 1945 to 1963, Dr. Ahn submitted important agendas such as dentist's qualification, scientific and academic affairs, general affairs, dental materials, public oral health, and dental administration to Dental Association's general meeting and central committee. Dr. Ahn overcame hardships of Japanese imperialism, celebrated independence of Korea, experienced 6.25 Korean War and lived through evolving Korean dentistry in 1960s. Dr. Jong-Suh Ahn, who showed the prestige of dentist and expanded the scope of dental association, is exemplary to all dentists.
Background: Despite the recent increasing trend in the prevalence of type 2 diabetes among older individuals, the relationship between diabetic retinopathy (DR) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) in these patients remains unclear. This study investigated the severity of renal dysfunction according to the degree of DR in older patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: A total of 116 patients with diabetes and CKD stage ≥3 who visited both the nephrology and ophthalmology outpatient departments between July 2021 and January 2022 were screened. There were 53 patients in the no DR group, 20 in the nonproliferative DR (NPDR) group, and 43 in the proliferative DR (PDR) group. Results: DR severity was related to the deterioration of renal function. The proportion of patients with advanced CKD significantly increased with DR severity (p for trend <0.001). In the multivariate regression model adjusted for age of ≥80 years, male sex, poorly controlled diabetes, macroalbuminuria, insulin use, diabetes duration of ≥10 years, cerebrovascular accident, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and cardiovascular disease history, the odds ratio compared with the no DR group was approximately 4.6 for the NPDR group and approximately 11.8 for the PDR group, which were both statistically significant (p=0.025 and p<0.001, respectively). Conclusion: DR severity in older patients with diabetes may be associated with deterioration of renal function and high prevalence of advanced CKD. Therefore, periodic examination for DR in older patients with diabetes is important for predicting renal function deterioration and CKD progression.

Currently, the concern about the environment is the issue all over the world, and in particular, carbon emissions of the power plants will not be able to disregard from the respect of generation cost. This paper proposes DR (demand response) as a method of reducing carbon emissions and therefore, carbon emissions cost. There are a number of studies considering DR, and in this paper, the effect of DR is focused on the side of carbon emission reduction effect considering Time-Of-Use (TOU) program, which is one of the most important economic methods in DSM. Demand-price elasticity matrix is used in this paper to model and analyze DR effect. Carbon emissions is calculated by using the carbon emission coefficient provided by IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), and generator's input-output characteristic coefficients are also used to estimate carbon emission cost as well as the amount of carbon emissions. Case study is conducted on the RBTS IEEE with six buses. For the TOU program, it is assumed that parameters of time period partition consist of three time periods (peak, flat, off-peak time period).

The drag reduction (DR) and heat transfer efficiency reduction (ER) of non-ionic surfactant were investigated as a function of fluid velocity, temperature, and surfactant concentration. An experimental apparatus consisting of two temperature controlled water storage tanks, pumps, test specimen pipe and the piping network, two flow meters, two pressure gauges, a heat exchanger, and data logging system was built. From the experimental results, it was concluded that existing alkyl ammonium surfactant (CTAC Cethyl Trimethyl Ammonium Chloride) had DR of $0.6{\sim}0.8$ at $1,000{\sim}2,000ppm$ concentration with fluid temperature ranging between $50{\sim}60^{\circ}C$. However, the DR was very low when the fluid temperature was $70{\sim}80^{\circ}C$. The new amine oxide and betaine surfactant(SAOB Stearyl Amine Oxide + Betaine) had lower DR at fluid temperatures ranging between $50{\sim}60^{\circ}C$ compared with CTAC. However, with fluid temperature ranging between $70{\sim}80^{\circ}C$ the DR was $0.6{\sim}0.8$ when the concentration level was $1,000{\sim}2,000ppm$.

The drag reduction (DR) and heat transfer efficiency reduction (HTER) of nonionic surfactant according to the fluid velocity, temperature and surfactant concentration were investigated experimentally. For this study, several kinds of new surfactant which contains amine-oxide and betaine were developed. And experimental apparatus equipped with two water storage tanks temperature controlled, pumps, testing pipe network, two flowmeters, two pressure gauges, heat exchanger, and data logging system was built. Results showed that existing alkyl ammonium surfactant (CTAC) had DR of $0.6{\sim}0.8$ for $1,000{\sim}2,000\;ppm$ in fluid temperature of $50{\sim}60^{\circ}C$ and had very low DR in fluid temperature over $70^{\circ}C$. And new amino oxide and betaine surfactant (SAOB) had lower DR in fluid temperature of $50{\sim}60^{\circ}C$ compared with CTAC but in fluid temperature of $70{\sim}80^{\circ}C$ DR was $0.6{\sim}0.8$ for 1$1,000{\sim}2,000\;ppm$.
Background: Malignant melanoma is a cancer that demonstrates rapid progression and atypical clinically features with a poor prognosis. Aim: This study was performed to determine the clinical characteristics and treatment outcomes of patients with malignant melanoma in Turkey. Methods: The medical records of 98 patients between 2007-2012 at our centers were retrieved from the patient registry. Overall survival (OS) was calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Results: In our study, with the median follow-up of all patients with cutaneous MM of 46.3 months, the median OS rate of all cases was 43.6 months and 5-year OS was 48.6%. However, five-year OS rates of patients with localized disease (stage I-II) and node involvement (stage III) were 60.3% and 39.6%, respectively. The median OS of stage IV patients was 8.7 months and 1-year OS rate was 26.2%. We showed that advanced stage, male gender, and advanced age in all patients with MM were significant prognostic factors of OS. Conclusions: Compared with the results of current studies from Western countries, we found similar findings concerning demographical features, histological variables and survival analyses for our patients with cutaneous MM in Turkey.
Background: Dental anxiety is a matter of serious concern to pediatric dentists as it may impede the efficient delivery of dental care. If not adequately resolved, a persistent negative response pattern may emerge. Thaumaturgy, commonly known as magic trick, has become popular recently. It is a tool that distracts and relaxes the child by using magic trick while the dentist performs necessary treatment. Hence, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Thaumaturgic aid in alleviation of anxiety in 4-6 - year-old children during administration of local anesthesia using the inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) technique. Methods: Thirty children aged between 4-6 years with dental anxiety requiring IANB were included in this study. Patients were divided equally into two groups: Group I, thaumaturgic aid group and Group II, conventional non-pharmacological group using randomization. Anxiety was measured before and after using the intervention with Raghavendra Madhuri Sujata-Pictorial scale (RMS-PS), Venham's anxiety rating scale, and pulse rate. All the data were tabulated and compared using statistical analysis. Results: Children in thaumaturgy group (Group- I) exhibited significantly lower anxiety during IANB in comparison with children in the conventional group (Group- II) and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion: Magic tricks are effective in reducing anxiety among young children during IANB; Moreover, it expands the arsenal of behavior guidance techniques for treatment of children with anxiety and plays an important role in shaping the behavior of a child in pediatric dentistry.
The purposes of this study was to conduct a correlational analysis among $F_^{0}$, Jitter, Shimmer, and NHR (HNR), and NNE estimated by three speech analysis softwares, MDVP, Praat and Dr. Speech. Thirty females and 15 males with normal voice participated in the study. We used Sound Forge 6.0 to record their voice. MDVP, Praat and Dr. Speech were used to measure the acoustic parameters. The Pearson correlation coefficient was determined through a statistical analysis. The results came out as follows: Firstly, there was a strong correlation between $F_^{0}$ and Shimmer of both instruments. However, there was no correlation between Jitter of both instruments. Secondly, Shimmer showed a stronger correlation with HNR, NHR, and NNE than Jitter. Therefore, Shimmer was considered to be more useful and sensitive parameter to identify dysphonic voice compared to jitter.
