데이터 분할구조에서의 H.264/AVC 움직임 벡터의 다중표현 부호화와 다중표현 정합을 이용한 복호화 (Multiple Description Coding of H.264/AVC Motion Vector under Data Partitioning Structure and Decoding Using Multiple Description Matching)

  • 부호화된 동영상 데이터를 전송할 때 발생하는 전송 채널상의 에러로 손실된 정보는 수신측의 복호화 된 영상의 화질을 크게 열화 시킨다. 특히 움직임 벡터나 매크로 블록 모드 정보와 같이 중요도가 높은 정보가 손실될 경우, 에러로 인한 이러한 화질 저하는 더욱 심각하다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위한 에러 강인 기술의 하나로, 압축동영상 정보의 중요도에 따라 정보를 분할하여 중요도가 높은 정보를 더욱 강하게 보호할 수 있는 데이터 분할 기술이 제안되었다. 그러나 실제 채널 망의 경우 전송 데이터의 서로 다른 중요도를 지원할 수 있도록 하기 위해 일반적으로는 중요한 정보의 경우 동일 패킷을 여러 번 보내는 방식으로 UEP 효과를 얻도록 한다. 본 논문은 이러한 전송환경 하에 동일한 패킷을 중복 전송하는 종래의 기법에 비해 전송 데이터 량을 감소시키면서도 전송 데이터 량 대비 화질을 증가시키기 위하여, H.264/AVC 표준의 데이터 분할 기술에 다중 표현 부호화 기술을 적용하여 데이터 분할 기술의 성능을 향상시키는 새로운 부호화와 복호화 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 데이터 분할된 H.264/AVC 표준의 움직임 벡터 정보를 효율적으로 다중 표현 부호화하고 독립적인 패킷으로 분할 전송함으로써 전송 에러에 의해 일부의 패킷을 손실하더라도 올바르게 전송된 패킷만으로 유사한 움직임 벡터 정보를 추정함으로써 에러 은닉 기술의 성능을 향상시키고 채널 에러의 영향을 최소화시킨다. 또한 제안된 다중표현 정합 알고리즘을 사용하여 움직임 벡터의 추정정확도를 향상시켜 복원영상의 화질을 개선한다.

  • We have proposed a measurement system for measuring a whole shape of an object easily. The proposed system consists of a camera and a cylinder whose inside is coated by a mirror layer. A target object is placed inside the cylinder and an image is captured by the camera from right above. The captured image includes sets of points that are observed from multiple viewpoints: one is observed directly, and others are observed via the mirror. Therefore, the whole shape of the object can be measured using stereo vision in a single shot. This paper shows that a prototype of the proposed system was implemented and an actual object was measured using the prototype. A method based on a pattern matching which uses a value of SSD (Sum of Squared Difference), and a method based on DP (Dynamic Programming) are employed to identify a set of corresponding points in warped captured images.

대화형 음성인식 이동로봇에 관한 연구 (A study on the interactive speech recognition mobile robot)

  • This paper is a study on the implementation of speech recognition mobile robot to which the interactive speech recognition techniques is applied. The speech command uttered the sentential connected word and is asserted through the wireless mic system. This speech signal transferred LPC-cepstrum and shorttime energy which are computed from the received signal on the DSP board to notebook PC. In notebook PC, DP matching technique is used for recognizer and the recognition results are transferred to the motor control unit which output pulse signals corresponding to the recognized command and drive the stepping motor. Grammar network applied to reduce the recognition speed of the recogniger, so that real time recognition is realized. The misrecognized command is revised by interface revision through the conversation with mobile robot. Therefore, user can move the mobile robot to the direction which user wants.

How Anaphors Recover Their References

  • This paper aims to provide an account for the English anaphors under the framework of the recent development of minimalism (Chomsky 1999, 2001). I propose that the anaphor has the uninterpretable [a] feature. The Agree operation erases the [a] feature by feature match. Once the [a] is deleted, the derivation converges, providing a proper interpretation of the anaphor. When there is no matching phi-features, the [a] cannot be eliminated, inducing the derivation to crash. The Agree operation can account for not only the typical local binding cases in English but the apparent long-distance binding cases in the picture-DP and expletive constructions. Consequently, the traditional concept of the binding domain and dichotomy between local and long-distance types are abandoned in favor of the analysis under the framework of minimalism. The minimalist accounts thus maximally simplifies the binding principles, using the general operation Agree only.

  • 스테레오 매칭은 Robot Vision 분야에서 가장 활발하게 연구가 진행되어온 주제이다. 과거 많은 연구들은 스테레오 매칭 알고리즘의 정확도를 높이거나 처리속도를 개선하는 것 중 어느 한 쪽에만 집중하고 있었으며, 두 가지를 동시에 고려한 연구는 상대적으로 연구가 미흡한 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 영상의 공간적 중복 성질을 이용하여 스테레오 매칭 알고리즘의 처리속도를 획기적으로 개선하는 방법을 제안하고, 처리 속도 감소에 따라 증가되는 disparity map 추정 오차를 보상하는 기술을 제안한다. 구체적으로 Dynamic Programming (DP) 기반 스테레오 매칭 알고리즘에 제안한 속도 개선 방법을 적용하고, 개선된 Adaptive Support Weight Filter를 사용하여 보다 효과적인 오차 보상을 실현 하였다. 체계적인 실험을 통해, 본 논문에서 제안 하는 스테레오 매칭 알고리즘은 처리속도와 정확도를 동시에 개선할 수 있음을 검증하였다.

  • A fast method of Hangul address word verification is presented in this Paper. Pre-segmentation and recognition by DP matching is adopted in this paper. An address line image is over-segmented by analyzing the topology of connected components and the projection profile. A fast individual Hangul character verifier was developed by applying SVM (Support Vector Machine). The segmentation hypothesis was represented by lattice structure, and a best path search by dynamic programming generates the most probable segmentation path and the final verification score. The word verifier was tested on 310 address image DB, and it show the possibility of improvements of this method.

  • This paper proposes a method to track hand gesture and to recognize the gesture pattern using Kalman filter and continuous dynamic programming (CDP). The positions of hands are predicted by Kalman filter, and corresponding pixels to the hands are extracted by skin color filter. The center of gravity of the hands is the same as the input pattern vector. The input gesture is then recognized by matching with the reference gesture patterns using CDP. From experimental results to recognize circle shape gesture and intention gestures such as “Come on” and “Bye-bye”, we show the proposed method is feasible to the hand gesture-based human -computer interaction.

  • The paper presents implementation of a PV fuzzy logic power tracking controller. Using maximum power point tracker with the intermediate converter can increase the system efficiency by matching the PV system to the load. A new fuzzy MPPT is proposed, where fuzzy inputs parameters are dp/dI and the last incremental of duty of duty ratio $L{\delta}D$, and the output is the new incremental value $(new{\delta}D)$ according to the maximum power point under various illumination levels.

Writer Identification using Wii Remote Controller

  • The objective of this study was to develop a system for handwriting recognition in three dimensions (3D) to authenticate users. While previous studies have used a stylus pen for two-dimensional input on a tablet, this study uses the Wii Remote controller because it can capture 3D human motion and could therefore be more effective means of recognition. The information obtained from a Wii Remote controller included x and y coordinates, acceleration (x, y, z), angular velocity (pitch, yaw, roll), twelve input buttons, and time. The proposed system calculates distances using six features extracted after preprocessing the data. In an experiment where 15 subjects wrote "AIZU" 10 times, we obtained a 94.8% identification rate using a combination of writing velocity, the peak value of pitch, and the peak value of yaw. This suggests that this system holds promise for handwriting-based authentication in the future.

스테레오영상의 가상의 탑뷰변환과 동적계획법에 의한 도로상의 장애물 검출 (Generic Obstacle Detection on Roads by Dynamic Programming and Remapping of Stereo Images to a Virtual Top-View)

  • In this paper, a novel algorithm capable of detecting generic obstacles on a flat surface is proposed. The algorithm fundamentally exploits a distortion phenomena taken place in remapping process of original stereo images to a virtual top-view. Based on the distortion phenomena, we construct stereo polar histograms of edge maps, detect peaks on them, and search for matched peaks on both histograms using a Dynamic Programming (DP). Eventually, the searched corresponding peaks lead to estimate obstacles' positions. The advantages of the proposed algorithm are that it is not largely affected by an intensity difference between a pair of stereo images and does not depend on the typical stereo matching methodologies. Furthermore, the algorithm identifies the obstacles' positions quite robustly.
