Oxygen Profiles and Precipitation Behavior in CZ Silicon Crystals Grown in A Transverse Magnetic Field (수평자장 하에서 성장된 CZ 실리콘 단결정의 산소 분포 및 석출거동)

  • Oxygen segregation in horizontal-magnetic-field-applied Czochralski (HMCZ) silicon crystals has been studied as a function of magnetic field strength (B) and crucible rotation rate (C). Along the axis of 57mm din. <100> crystals grown under B=2, 3, 4 kG and C=4-15rpm, the oxygen distribution was usually saw-tooth shaped and fluctuated unevenly. Compared to the conventional CZ method, this result seems to indicate that the horizontal magnetic field, at levels used in the present experiment, had a destabilizing influence on oxygen transport to the growth interface. On the other hand, as C increased, the oxygen fluctuation lessened, and [0] increased overall. At B=2 kG, an oxygen profile in a level of 27-36 ppma was achieved by a programmed ramp of C. Oxygen precipitation behavior of the HMCZ silicon during a simulated device manufacturing process was compared and found to be inferior to that of typical CZ silicon. The uneven oxygen profile in the as-grown state was identified as the major source of poor precipitation uniformity in the HMCZ silicon.

Identification of Copper and Cadmium Induced Genes in Alfalfa Leaves through Annealing Control Primer Based Approach

  • The present research investigated copper and cadmium stress-induced differentially expressed genes (DEGs) using annealing control primers (ACP) with the differential display reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction technique in alfalfa (Medicago sativa L. cv. Vernal) leaves. Alfalfa leaves were subjected to $250{\mu}M$ of copper and cadmium treatment for a period of 6 h. A total of 120 ACPs was used. During copper and cadmium treatment, 6 DEGs were found to be up or down regulated. During copper stress treatment, 1 DEG was up-regulated, and 3 novel genes were discovered. Similarly, during cadmium stress treatment, 1 DEG was up-regulated and 5 novel genes were identified. Among all 6 DEGs, DEG-4 was identified as the gene for trans-2,3-enoyl-CoA reductase, DEG-5 was identified as the gene for senescence-associated protein DIN1 and DEG-6 was identified for caffeic acid O-methyltransferase. All the up-regulated genes may play a role in copper and cadmium stress tolerance in alfalfa.

HEN Simulation of a Controlled Fluid Flow-Based Neural Cooling Probe Used for the Treatment of Focal and Spontaneous Epilepsy

  • Brain disorders such as epilepsy is a condition that affects an estimated 2.7 million Americans, 50,000,000 worldwide, approximately 200,000 new cases of epilepsy are diagnosed each year. Of the major chronic medical conditions, epilepsy is among the least understood. Scientists are conducting research to determine appropriate treatments, such as the use of drugs, vagus nerve stimulation, brain stimulation, and Peltier chip-based focal cooling. However, brain stimulation and Peltier chip-based stimulation processes cannot effectively stop seizures. This paper presents simulation of a novel heat enchanger network(HEN) technique designed to stop seizures by using a neural cooling probe to stop focal and spontaneous seizures by cooling the brain. The designed probe was composed of a U-shaped tube through which cold fluid flowed in order to reduce the temperature of the brain. The simulation results demonstrated that the neural probe could cool a 7 $mm^2$ area of the brain when the fluid was flowing atb a velocity of 0.55 m/s. It also showed that the neural cooling probe required 23 % less energy to produce cooling when compared to the Peltier chip-based cooling system.

  • Recently, the design-build delivery system is being generalized in domestic construction project. The design-build system is becoming an increasingly preferable alternative to design-bid-build delivering method. In design-build project, however, a large construction company and design firm make up consortium as a design-build contractor rather din single company performs design and construction work. In this case, usually the construction companies take a leading role but due to their lack of managerial t31ow-how in the design-build system, they could miss the merits of this approach. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate throughly the function and information flows all over the design-build project. This research suggests a process model and database in the whole phase of design-build project. This process model and database system will also support to improve the consistency of functional process and minimize incoherent activities of the design-build projects.

The Influence of Nutrients Concentration and the Ratio on Phytoplankton Community Structure during Late Spring and Early Summer in Sagami Bay, Japan (춘계와 하계의 영양염 농도와 그 구성비가 식물플랑크톤의 군집구조에 미치는 영향평가)

  • The relationship between nutrients and phytoplankton dynamics was investigated daily from 12 April to 22 July 2003 in Sagami Bay, Japan. According to multidimensional scaling (MDS) and cluster analysis, phytoplankton community was divided into four distinct groups. The first group was consisted of centric diatom species, such as Guinardia spp., Detonula spp., Letocylindrus danicus, Skeletonema costatum, Eucampia zodiacus and Chaetoceros spp.. The second and third clusters comprised mainly diatoms and dinoflagellates, respectively. The other cluster was restricted to the samples collected during the last sampling period when the rainfall and river discharge was frequently recorded. Canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) was applied to analyze four groups respectively, which focused on the effects of nutrients concentration and ratio on phytoplankton variations. Based on CCA analysis, most species of centric diatom were negatively correlated with DSi concentrations and Si/N ratio. Nutrients were strongly limited phytoplankton growth during the summer when the rainfall was not observed, whereas river discharge by rainfall and counterclockwise coastal currents (although the surface circulation pattern is often altered by Kuroshio Current, the counterclockwise coastal currents are generally dominant) has brought phytoplankton population accumulation and triggered the micoalgae growth in western part of the bay. Phosphorous (P) was strongly limited after significantly increases in the phytoplankton abundances. However, silicate (Si) was not a major limiting factor for phytoplankton production, since Si/DIN and Si/P ratio did not create any potential stoichiometric limitation. This indicates that high Si availability contributes favorably to the maintenance of diatom ecosystems in Sagami Bay.

Inhibitory Effect of Flavan-3-ols Isolated from Oolong Tea on Xanthine Oxidase (우롱차로부터 분리된 Flavan-3-ol 화합물의 Xanthine Oxidase에 대한 저해 영향)

  • As a series of study for an anti-gout agent, two flavan-3-ols have been isolated from Oolong tea. They showed positive reaction in $anisaldehyde-H_2SO_4$ solution and $FeCl_3$, which were able to be confirmed in TLC with dimeric flavan-3-ols. The components were identified as procyanidin B-2 and procyanidin B-2-O-3, 3'-di-gallate by spectroscopic analysis. Their inhibitory effect on xanthine oxidase was also investigated and procyanidin B-2-O-3, 3'-digallate showed 60.6% inhibition at $50\;{\mu}mole$. The compound competitively inhibited the xantine oxidase and dimeric flavan-3-ols contanining gallate had higher inhibition activity.

  • On the Seoul Metropolitan Subway Construction of No. 3, 4 Line, the total length is 57 Km and it is now undergoing almost 55% progress. The working method is classified into Open Cut of 70% and the rest of 30% tunnelling method in the 48 job site. Above tunnelling method is execute by American Steel Support System and the rest of 10 job site carried out by New Austria Tunnelling Method. This paper describes Blasting Standardizations works on the above Tunnelling ' Open Cut Method under big slogan, first safety, second execution. As a superintendent, I strived standardization of works with Better powder, Better Drills ' Better Pattern. Geological structure of Seoul area is composed by Jurassic Granite and also the above rockgroup are over burden by Alluviums as a Unconformity. First of all, I carried out the standard amount of powder and burden through experimental standard blasting by each powder as following Blasting works in the subway construction is surrounding shop Building, under pass the city river and also under pass highest building basement floor. I made allowable Blasting Vibration Value by West-Germany Vornorm DIN 4150, Teil 3 and should measure each blasting works as fellows all of powder is used basically Low-Gravity and Low Velocity such as Slurry, Ammonium Nitrate ' Finex I, II. for Smooth Blasting Instead of Gelatin Dynamite. Electric Detonation Cap is used basically M/S Delay Cup instead of Electric delay ' Simultaneous cap. Linking Emotional Brand Attachment and Sales Promotion to Post-Purchase Cognitive Dissonance: The Mediating Role of Impulse Buying Behavior

  • The primary objective of this research is to develop a better understanding of consumer's post-purchase psychological state by examining the influence of sales promotion and emotional brand attachment on post-purchase cognitive dissonance, taking into account the mediating role of impulse buying behavior. The current study addresses several gaps in literature. Firstly, it is hard to find the direct impact of sales promotion and emotional brand attachment on post-purchase cognitive dissonance. Secondly, to the best of our knowledge, few studies have investigated the mediating role of impulse buying behavior in consumer research. A sample of 256 respondents was collected from Pakistani retail consumers. The statistical findings of this study show that sales promotion has a significant positive effect on the impulse buying behavior and post-purchase cognitive dissonance. Furthermore, results indicate that emotional brand attachment has a negative influence on impulse buying behavior but has a significant positive impact on post-purchase cognitive dissonance. Meanwhile, impulse buying behavior is a potential mediator between sales promotion, emotional brand attachment, and post-purchase cognitive dissonance relationships. The moderating role of Gender describes that the positive relationship between sales promotion and post-purchase cognitive dissonance will be stronger for women as compared to men at a higher level of sales promotion.

  • Although the advance in electronic technology enables a large number of circuity to be packed in a small volume, it is simultaneously required to remove the high heat load produced by them. In this study, the heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of a mini-channel heat exchanger, which is designed for liquid cooling of electronic components, are investigated by varying operating conditions. Water and FC-72 were used as working fluids. The mini-channel heat exchanger was made with circular shape channels having din-meters of 2, 3, and 4 mm in regular intervals, and the channel length was 100 mm. The header and inlet guide pathway to provide uniform inflow were attached at the inlet of the test section. Copper block including the heaters was attached at the sidewall of the test section as a heat source, which provided the heat flux from 5 to $15W/cm^2$. The entrance effects enhanced the heat transfer coefficient in the mini-channel significantly. In addition, the single-phase pressure drop in the mini-channel was very similar to that predicted by the laminar flow correlation except that the transition Re decreased due to flow instability in the entrance region.

  • The most fundamental and important medical treatment is science of acupuncture and moxibution, which is based on twelve channels theory. Meridian is a pathway that conveys material and energy in a human body. Twelve channels are divided into channels of hand & foot, channels of yin & yang. Yang channels are divided into taiyang, yangming, shaoyang, yin channels are divided into taiyin, shaoyin, jueyin. These are referred to twelve channels, and this theory is being used for diagnosis and test in oriental medicine. Meridian-doin-tajiquan is born, combining taijiquan which is recently handed down from China and Korean traditional method for health protection and treatment in ancient times and twelve channels, three yin & yang theory. I report this because meridian-doin-tajiquan which is non-medical and non-invasive way can be used in the treatment of disease, just like three yin & yang theory, the heart of the meridian theory, and Gehapchu theory are adjusted in the clinical science of acupuncture and moxibution. And I report this because I could mater the appropriateness of the traditional theory and I believed this corresponded with it, training myself by meridian-din-tajiquan. It is considered that this will be used in the treatment of pain disease of muscles and joints system and the diabetes, hypertension, obesity caused by stress in the near future.
