  • Dynamic Handoff Control Scheme (DHCS), which is propose d in this paper, suggests the method to request handoff at the optimal time. To accomplish this, DHCS measures the speed of the mobile station and sets the pilot strength for handoff request. When the pilot strength of the current base station is bigg or than the pilot strength for handoff request, which means the pilot strength of the current base station is big enough so the possibility of the call to be disconnected is low, DHCS doesn't request for the handoff even though the pilot strength of the adjacent base station is bigger than the pilot strength of the curent base station. DHCS guarantees the QoS (Quality of Service) by processing the handoff calls prior to new calls at the base station and providing continuous service for the mobile station by setting the priorities for the calls according to the queue waiting time transmitted from the mobile stations.

  • Efficient Directed Acyclic Graph(DAG) scheduling is critical for achieving high performance in Distributed Heterogeneous computing System(DHCS). In this paper, we present a new high-performance scheduling algorithm, called the LCFT(Levelized Critical First Task) algorithm, for DHCS. The LCFT algorithm is a list-based scheduling that uses a new attribute to efficiently select tasks for scheduling in DHCS. The complexity of LCFT is $O(\upsilon+e)(p+log\;\upsilon)$. The performance of the algorithm has been observed by its application to some practical DAGs, and by comparing it with other existing scheduling algorithms such as PETS, HPS, HCPT and GCA in terms of the schedule length and SpeedUp. The comparison studies show that LCFT significantly outperforms PETS, HPS, HCPT and GCA in schedule length, SpeedUp.

  • The performance of DHCS depends on the algorithm which schedules input DAG. However, as the task scheduling problem in DHCS is an NP-complete problem, heuristic approach has to be made. Task scheduling algorithm consists of task prioritizing phase and processor allocation phase, and most of studies are considering both phases together. In this paper, we focus on task prioritizing phase and propose a WPD algorithm which is optimized for task duplication based processor allocation method. For an evaluation of the proposed WPD algorithm, we combined WPD algorithm with processor allocation phase of HMPID, HCPFD, HCT algorithms, which are using task duplication based processor allocation method. The results show that WPD algorithm makes a better use of task duplication than conventional task prioritizing methods and provides 9.58% better performance than HCPFD algorithm, 1.31% than HCT algorithm.

  • Objective: Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is a form of obsessive-compulsive disorder that may be negatively associated with the self-image. It might be associated with orthodontic treatment demand and outcome, and therefore is important. Thus, this study was conducted. Methods: The Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale modified for Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD-YBOCS) questionnaire was used in 699 orthodontic patients above 12 years of age (222 males, 477 females), at seven clinics in two cities (2020-2021). BDD diagnosis and severity were calculated based on the first 3 items and all 12 items of the questionnaire. The dental health component of the index of orthodontic treatment need (IOTN-DHC) was assessed by orthodontists. Multivariable and bivariable statistical analyses were performed on ordinal and dichotomized BDD diagnoses to assess potentially associated factors (IOTN-DHC, age, sex, marital status, education level, and previous orthodontic consultation) (α = 0.05). Results: IOTN-DHC scores 1-5 were seen in 13.0%, 39.9%, 29.8%, 12.4%, and 4.9% of patients. Age/sex/marital status/education were not associated with IOTN-DHC (p > 0.05). Based on 3-item questionnaire, 17.02% of patients had BDD (14.02% mild). Based on 12-item questionnaire, 2.86% had BDD. BDD was more prevalent or severer in females, married patients, patients with a previous history of orthodontic consultation, and patients with milder IOTN-DHCs (p < 0.05). Conclusions: IOTNDHC was negatively/slightly associated with BDD in orthodontic patients. Being female and married may increase BDD risk.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness of dental hygienists, who played a significant role in dental sector, about health care management and their needs for education in an attempt to pave the way for the development of a Dental Hygienist Coordination System(DHCS). The subjects were 156 dental hygienists at 85 dental clinics, who were selected in Gwangju based on the data released as of August 2008 by the Dental Association and public health centers in sampling region. A Questionnaire was conducted in person to gather survey data and SPSS 12.0 program was utilized to make a statistical analysis. This results findings suggested that a systematic curriculum should be developed by focusing on coordination theory and practice, counseling and educational practice, health insurance affairs and health insurance fee claim management.

  • This study was conducted to assess the usefulness of the temperature characteristics of the tidal flat sediments during low tide as a environmental factor, and burrowing behaviour, fatness, total hemocyte counts(THCs) and differential hemocyte counts(DHCs) of hard clam Meretrix lusoria as biological activity indices for the management of hard clam farms located in Taean(Chungnam province) and Gimje(Jeonbuk province) tidal flat in Korea. Temperature ranges of the sediment at 1cm depth during spring(March to May) and summer(June to August) in Taean(where the exposure time was about $5.5{\sim}6$ hours during low tide) were $8.7{\sim}26.8^{\circ}C\;and\;27.6{\sim}32.8^{\circ}C$, respectively. Even though there was no significant difference(P>0.05), temperatures of the surface sediment where submerged with remained seawater were generally higher than that of uncovered with seawater. Burrowing depths of normally digged hard clams were 0.9{\sim}3.6cm from March to October, 2002. In the field experiment performed at Taean farming ground covered with seawater, burrowing times of the clams under natural water temperatures were $41.6{\pm}10minutes$ in February and $5.4{\pm}1.3minutes$ in August, respectively, and these were influenced by water temperatures. Fatness of hard clams began to decrease from May(at Taean tidal flat) and June(at Gimje tidal flat), showed the lowest level in August and increased again from September. Total hemocytes counts in the hemolymph of the hard clams were decreased to the lowest level in July($24.7{\times}10^4cells/mL$, at Taean tidal flat) and August($28.2{\times}10^4cells/mL$, at Gimje tidal flat), and significantly increased again from September(at Taean tidal flat, P<0.01) and October(at Gimje tidal flat, P<0.001), respectively. We observed three types of hemocytes from the hemolymph of hard clams according to whether hemocytes retain the granules or not and the size of the granules. As a results, we could found that periodical monitoring of the sediment temperatures, clam burrowing behaviour and hemocyte parameters were very helpful for the management of hard clam farming.
