Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate parents' recognition and attitudes toward national health insurance coverage of sealant by the dental hygienists. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 329 elementary school children parents in G metropolitan city and N city from July 11 to 27, 2015. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects, recognition and attitudes toward national health insurance coverage of sealant and sealant by the dental hygienist, and recognition toward national health insurance. The data were analyzed by a descriptive analyses, multiple regression and logistic regression analysis using SPSS 12.0 program. Results: Recognition of national health insurance coverage was 2.52 times higher in high school and 4.97 times higher in recognition toward purpose of sealant. Factor affecting recognition of national health insurance was subscription of private health insurance, recognition of sealant treatment by dental hygienist (DH) and recognition of national health insurance coverage of sealant. Attitude toward sealant treatment by DH was positive in experience of sealant, recognition of sealant treatment by DH and experience of sealant treatment by DH. Factor affecting satisfaction on the sealant by DH was recognition of sealant treatment by DH and recognition of purpose of sealant. Conclusions: To increase national health insurance coverage of sealant, it is necessary to expand positive public relations of sealant by the dental hygienist.
Background : Thyroid Transcription Factor-1(TTF-1) acts as a tissue specific transcription factor in the regulation of lung specific gene expression and as morphogenic protein during lung organogenesis. Currently, there is very little information on the cis-acting sequences and transcription factors that direct the TTF-1 gene expression. DNAse 1 hypersensitive (DH) sites represent a marker for active or potentially active chromatin and are likely to be especially important in gene regulation, being associated with many DNA sequences that regulate gene expression. It is clear that DH regions correlate with genetic regulatory loci and binding for sequence-specific DNA-binding proteins. Methods : We have used DH site assays to identify putative distal regulatory elements in H441 lung adenocarcinoma cells, which express the TTF-1 gene and HeLa cells. Results : There are four DH sites 5' of the TTF-1 gene. These sites are located at base pair approximately +150, -450, -800, and -1500 from the start of transcription. Conclusion : These data suggest that there may be at least one intragenic site and regulatory region 5' prime to the promotor region.
Seven epoxy- and hydroxyandrostane derivatives ($DH-1{\sim}DH-7$) and nine epoxy- and hydroxycholestane derivatives ($CH-1{\sim}CH-9$) with unsaturation in ring A and ring B were synthesized from DHEA and cholesterol, respectively. The antinociceptive effects of all synthesized compounds were measured by hot plate method. Most of androstane derivatives except $1{\alpha},2{\alpha}$-epoxy-4,6-androstadiene-3,17-dione (DH-3), and CH-6, CH-7 and CH-9 exhibited antinociceptive effect. 1,4-Androstadiene-$3{\beta},17{\beta}$-diol (DH-5, 100 mg/kg, $35.8{\pm}7.39$), $6{\alpha},7{\alpha}$-epoxy-1,4-androstadiene-3,17-dione (DH-4, 100 mg/kg, $32.6{\pm}5.50$) and $5{\alpha},6{\alpha}$-epoxy-17-oxo-androstan-$3{\beta}$-ol (DH-1, 100 mg/kg, $32.5{\pm}2.98$) were more effective than morphine (10 mg/kg, $30.6{\pm}0.5$). The analgesic effects of androstane derivatives on acetic acid writhing in mice were lower than aspirin. The androstane derivatives were less effective than ibuprofen at inhibiting effects on the carrageenin induced paw oedema. 4,6-Cholestadien-$3{\beta}$-ol (CH-5), $1{\alpha},2{\alpha}$-epoxy-4,6-cholestadien-$3{\beta}$-ol (CH-7) and $7{\alpha}$-hydroxy4-cholesten-3-one (CH-9) showed the decrease of serum triglyceride and total cholesterol levels in poloxamer P-407 injected rat.

Background: This study analyzed and described the clinical characteristics and surgical outcomes of diaphragmatic hernia (DH) repair according to the operative approach. Methods: After excluding cases with a combined approach and hiatal hernias, we analyzed 26 patients who underwent DH repair between 1994 and 2018. The baseline and perioperative characteristics of the thoracic approach group and the abdominal approach group were described and analyzed. Results: Fifteen of the 26 patients were treated through the thoracic approach, including 5 patients who underwent video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). Eleven patients underwent the abdominal approach. The thoracic approach was associated with a longer duration of DH than the abdominal approach (2 vs. 0.1 months), herniation of the right-sided abdominal organs, and herniation of the retroperitoneal organs. During the median follow-up of 23 months, there was no recurrence of DH. Conclusion: The surgical approach should be chosen considering the duration of DH and the location of herniated organs. VATS might be a safe and feasible option for repairing DH.
The purpose of this study was to identify the quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with gel consistency (GC), and to evaluate the relationships between GC and physico-chemical properties related to eating quality in rice. A total of 120 doubled haploid (DH) lines derived from a cross between 'Samgang' and 'Nagdong' and 26 varieties were used for this study. The 120 DH lines were divided into four groups, soft (61~100 mm), medium (41~60 mm), hard (26~40 mm) and whole population, according to the gel length. A negative correlation between GC and amylose content was observed only in the soft group. The GC negatively correlated with lipid content in the medium, and the whole population, but positively correlated with lipid content in the soft group. The positive correlation between GC and protein content was observed in the soft group, while negative correlations were observed in the medium group and the whole population. Two significant QTLs regarding GC were detected on chromosomes 4 and 11. They collectively explained 23% of phenotypic variation with LOD score of 3.1 and 2.9, respectively. The DNA markers of S4026 and RM287 were tightly linked to GC in the DH population and 26 varieties, respectively.

Male Sprague-Bawler rats were blocked into four groups which were normal rats fed control diet (NC) diabetic rats fed control diet (DC), normal rats fed Hamcho powder diet (NH), and diabetic rats fed Hamcho powder diet (DH). Diabetes was induced by single injection of streptozotocin (60 mg/kg B.W. i.p.). The animals were fed ad libitum for 5 weeks. Malondialdehyde (MDA), glucose 6-phosphtase (Gspase), glutathione S-transferase (GST) glutathione Peroxidase (GPx), and glutathione reductase (GR) activities were measured in the homogenates of liver and kidney, and total lipid, total cholesterol, triglyceride, and HDL-cholesterol concentrations in the blood serum. Food and water intakes were markedly higher in diabetic groups than those of normal groups and were not significantly decreased by Hamcho powder supplementation, But, FER (Feed efficiency ratio) of DH Brood was higher than that of U group. Total cholesterol level of DH group was decreased in the second and third week, and the weekly change of blood sugar was also decreased in the 5th week. Dietary Hamcho intake showed 41.2% of hypoglycemic effect in diabetics rats. Levels of total lipid and triglycerides of DH group were lower than those of DC group. Hepatic GR activity of DH group was higher than those of other groups. However, renal GR activity was lower than those of other groups. Hepatic G6Pase activity was significantly high in DH group and reduced by Hamcho powder supplementation. GST was reduced by Hancho diet in diabetic rats. In conclusion Hamcho supplementation decreased serum lipid and glucose concentration in STZ-induced diabetic rats and this effects of Hamcho might exert antidiabetic effect of Hamcho powder diet.
Recently, Candida antarctica lipase B (CalB) draws attention from industries for various applications for food, detergent, fine chemical, and biodiesel, because of its characteristics as an efficient biocatalyst. Since many industrial processes carry out in organic solvent and at high temperature, CalB, which is stable under harsh condition, is in demand from many industries. In order to reform CalB promptly, the expression system which has advantages of ease to use and low cost for gene libraries screening was developed using E. coli. The E. coli strains, Rosettagami with competence for enhanced disulfide bond formation, Novablue, and $DH5{\alpha}$, were exploited in this study. To obtain the soluble CalB, the pCold I vector expressing the cloned gene at $15^{\circ}C$ and the chaperone plasmids containing groES/groEL, groES/groEL/tig, tig, dnaK/dnaJ/grpE, and dnaK/dnaJ/grpE/groES/groEL were used for coexpression of CalB and chaperones. The colonies expressing functional lipase were selected by employing the halo plate containing 1% tributyrin, and the CalB expression was confirmed by SDS-PAGE. E. coli Rosettagami and $DH5{\alpha}$ harbouring groES/groEL chaperones were able to express soluble CalB effectively. From a facilitative point of view, E. coli $DH5{\alpha}$ is more suitable for further mutation study.
For the enzymes AAT, GmDH, ME, GPI, LDH and IDH, nine, seven, four, nine, seven, and four different phenotypes, respectively, were observed. All six isolates of an unidentified sterile Pythium sp. isolated from field soil showed the same band positions for all six enzymes compared. These phenotypes were not similar to any of the known Pythium species. Two isolates of unknown Pythium species (145 and 299) showed the same band positions for all six enzymes. The phenotypes for all three unknown Pythium spp. were different from the other species in the experiment. Five isolates of P. heterothallicum showed the same band positions for all enzymes compared except one enzyme, lDH. Two isolates of P. torulosum showed the same band petitions for enzymes AAT, GmDH and ME, and three isolates of P. totulosum showed the same positions for enzymes GPI, LDH, and IDH. Single isolates of P. spinosum and P. irregulare showed the same band positions for enzymes AAT, GmDH and GPI. In conclusion, sterile types of Pythium species showed 100% similarities among themselves but did not show any similarity with all isolates of P. heterothallicum and P. spinosum isolate, and showed very low similarities with other isolates in general except with unknown Pythium isolate 306. Similarity levels between different species were low in general with few exceptions.

To develop commercially available food protein hydrolysates, the effects of different types of enzymes and substrates on bitterness and solubility of partially hydrolyzed food proteins were investigated. Four types of proteins (casein, isolated soy protein (ISP), wheat gluten, and gelatin) and five types of proteolytic enzymes (a microbial alkaline protease (alcalase), a microbial neutral protease (neutrase), papain, bromelain, trypsin) were used. To profile the pattern of hydrolysis, the degree of hydrolysis (DH) were monitored during 180 min of reaction time by pH-stat method. Casein showed the highest susceptibility to hydrolysis for all five proteases compared to those of ISP, gluten, and gelatin. In addition, the bitter intensity and solubility (nitrogen soluble index, NSI) of each protein hydrolysate were compared at DH 10%. Bitterness and solubility of protein hydrolysates were highly affected by DH and the types of enzymes and substrates. At DH=10%, casein hydrolysate by trypsin, ISP and gluten hydrolysates by either bromelain or neutrase, and gelatin hydrolysates by the five proteases tested in this study were highly soluble and less bitter.
